I've really enjoyed seeing the character evolution of Sloane. She is working on her sobriety and fighting to keep her past in the past. But sooner or later it always catches up to you! Her safe, secret, lonely life is interrupted by the interest of the hospital's PR man, a nice but of irony as PR is the last thing a woman on the run needs! Micah is the perfect, sweet counterpart for her and they have some awesome chemistry! It was nice to read a romance that develops naturally and isn't insta love with no complications.
If you enjoy the drama of Grey's Anatomy but not all the bed-hopping and don't mind some Christian values added, Candace Calvert is the author for you! I have yet to dislike anything she has written! (The only reason this isn't a 5 star read to me is that it's not one I'd be quick to re-read.)

There is a lot of suspect-suspicion hopping around, which luckily was fairly easy to follow along. The obvious main suspect is a bit of red herring so there is a twist at the end reveal (that is a bit of a huh? and why? moment). And in the middle another mystery is thrown in (that seems to be setting the stage for Book 3 and has nothing to do with Skylar's disappearance) - a terrorist sneaking into the country on a boat full of refugees.
The romance between Avery and Parker is still very similar to the insta-love of Griffin and Finley. Their courtship is very even-keeled and with no real bumps in the road. And while they are sweet together, it is pretty blah to read about. I want some excitement, maybe a love triangle, something to shake things up!
Overall it was an okay read. I'm still curious enough to keep reading the series.

It felt like an intense mash-up of survival adventure shows with some sprinklings of romance. It was really hard to put down!! The romance elements were sweet; I really liked the characters- they were relatable in their insecurities and vulnerabilities. As with Montana Rescue #1, the storyline involving Sierra and Ian is teased some more- I was really hoping for some resolution, but at least it feels sooner in coming! I eagerly await installment #3!!
Thank you Revell and NetGalley for this eARC.
A five star read is the mark of a book that I will want to re-read again and again, and while Rescue Me was close in terms of storyline- I don't feel like it is a story I would be quick to pick up again. We'll see, maybe reading the rest of the series will change my mind... ;-)...more
