And how could I possibly resist a Sterek story in which Derek can read minds and Stiles's mind is apparently filthy?
This was thoroughly entertaining.
Favorite Quotes: Derek thinks it's just another example of life's shitty ironies. Oh, sure, give him the ability to read minds after he sleeps with the girl who has a secret desire to murder his entire family. That's just great.
Being able to read people's minds is way overrated--especially when you don't like people.
"You're getting better," he says mildly. Stiles grins at him, straightening up. "I always knew I was born to be a superhero."(less)

So clever, witty, and sweet. Lovely!
Favorite Quotes: Yes. Yes, he knows Merlin, the one with the ears and the cheekbones and all the--the hair--and oh, he must've said that bit aloud, because Morgana is tossing her head back and laughing.
"We've got stats together, and you've never spoken a word to me except to tell me to move my ears so that you could see the board." "I never said that," Arthur says. "You did, on the first day." "I--you're making that up." "I'm not," Merlin insists. "I'll show you where I wrote about it in my diary." "Your diary." "The pages are tear-stained, Arthur," Merlin says, shaking his head. "Stained with my tears."
"There was a cat." "There was a shadow." "It was a cat," Merlin insists. "It was a figment of your imagination."
"I've wanted you forever, you absolute arse." "Well, you've got me now," Merlin says, pulling back and grinning like he'll burst and Arthur thinks, yes. This. Yes.(less)

The first story in this series remains one of the most fascinatingly unique Drarry stories I've yet discovered.
The history of Dark magic and Dark wizards that Ms. Anathema created in the first story continues and is further explored in #2. Getting to see the way that the two sides are trying to work together is fascinating. And getting to see more of the Malfoy family and Draco's history was lovely.
I was a little worried when so much of the first two chapters was spent on Draco and Harry talking about having a baby. I'm not a fan of babies in my m/m, and detest mpreg stories. I worried I'd missed seeing a label along the way somewhere. I was delighted to discover that not only had I not missed a tag, but that Ms. Anathema had come up with what has to be my new favorite magical solution to having children. So clever!
The ONLY thing I didn't just absolutely love about this story was the desecration of Hogwarts. I know it makes me sound completely lame, but I feel like I spent so much time in Hogwarts growing up that it's almost as much of a second home to me as it is to Harry. Having the school be given such a dark history here just made me so sad.
Everything else I just adored. Draco's still just a lovely character, the way Dark magic works here is still just incredibly fascinating, and there's just this whole Dark world that Ms. Anathema created that is fantastically interesting and detailed. I'm so glad she finished this!
Favorite Quotes: "You sort of took me as I came. You didn't try to fix me."
Draco sighed and lowered his head slightly in acknowledgment. The same way Harry didn't antagonize his father, Draco tried not to bait the weasels.
Ages ago, Harry had explained what movies were, but Draco couldn't understand why anyone would want to sit and watch people pretending when they could read the story and pretend for themselves.
"Needlessly flashy," Severus muttered. "No wonder he fit into the family."
"I'm not planning anything bad," Draco hissed. "Not really." "Your definition of bad," Harry said with a long suffering smile, "and mine never seem to match."
he Battle of Bredgett, as it came to be known in later years, ended with all sides weary not from fighting but from surviving,
"Miss Hermione Granger," Draco said, and he prided himself on how faint and unassuming he kept his smile. "I believe you know her?" Rita's lips pursed and her quill halted for an instant before she took down the name. "...yes, after a fashion," she said, not looking at him. "Why her?" Under his breath, he murmured "I ask myself that every time I deal with her."
"I'll start," he said. "If I have to care about politics, so do you." This time she leaned back, smoothing out the jagged punctures to her counter. She didn't have an argument for that, but still...boring meetings. "You could just be king," she offered. "Be easier for everyone." "Except me," he grumbled. "Too much work."
Honestly, we saved the present. The future can take care of itself."(less)
Okay, so reading this raised some giant red flags about proper treatment of suicidal individuals, and had me incredibly uncomfortable.

That being said, the rest of the story was lovely enough that I found myself willing to overlook that and enjoy the developing relationship. Actually, all of the relationships here were fascinating.
I loved how much so many of the characters have grown up in this story. Ron was fantastic, but so were both Harry and Draco. Even though it's only been two years, they all were able to let the past go and to move forward responsibly.
This Harry and this Draco together were delightful. Their slow-burn relationship here was just so much fun to read about. This is one I'm sure I'll be re-reading.
Favorite Quotes: Harry half-wished someone would just say no to him for once to stop him from getting himself into these sort of situations.
Harry started to laugh and Ron grinned, continuing. "And acting stupid is perfect insurance. Like so when I do manage to majorly cock something up I just have to look confused, then she does that sighing thing and fixes it."
"I'm stuck. Stuck between a rock and a crazy place."
"I told you so," one of the pawns chipped in petulantly, glaring at Harry. "Enough from you," Harry said.
Ron was a saint in a freckled suit.
He could live ten times over and never tire of the taste of Draco Malfoy.
"I think Harry has finally worked out what we all worked out a long time ago."
Harry knew then that he was exactly in the right place in the world.(less)

Neither of the main characters was even likable, let alone sympathetic. Chase should have been the main PoV according to the prompt, but we spent more time in Matt's head. And Chase waffled back and forth between being a complete asshole and making these ridiculously stupid jokes that the narration then tried to convince me were his trademark.
I couldn't understand why they were both so hostile to each other when they'd both supposedly been crushing on the other for years. And Chase went way past hostile into downright being a dick.

Perhaps too excited. The story ended up being slightly frustrating to read. Sujan is 21, Raju just turned 18 and had his first shift. Sujan says at one point that he's been chasing Raju for over a year, but he didn't realize Raju was his mate until Raju's first shift.
Raju's just so wishy-washy. Sujan alternates ridiculously dramatically between ordering Raju around and tearfully apologizing and calling him 'Kitten.'
Had high hopes, they weren't met. It wasn't a bad story, just not what I'd hoped it might be.(less)

Well-handled build up of emotions and it was nice to get to head-hop and see how both of them felt and how things had evolved for each of them.
I agree with another reviewer that the underage interaction (older brother is 18, younger is only 13...) was far squickier than brocest could be.
The loveliness of the ending almost makes up for that, though, and makes me leave this at 3 stars.
