I was already in love with Liam, goddammit! Who wouldn’t like a hot guy with an Irish accent who kisses you hello on the lips?! Jordan’s got nothing on this guy. He’s the dream! Also, I love how he made Charlie realize that she can be more than just Drew’s PA, that she’s meant to be a producer.
"As Drew and Liam continue their membership in the mutual admiration society, I offer to get Drew a drink, then make a hasty getaway. I just can’t see Liam for too long without needing to come up for air."
I liked the first book more. The first book could be my relationship bible but the second book has less fun tips. They’re just not as long and hilarious as the pieces of advice on the first one. There were some parts that made me cry though. Like when Jordan told Charlie that he’s planning to work in Germany after Paris – over the phone. Gosh, I hated Jordan the entire book. At least, she has Drew though. Yes, he can be really impossible most of the time but he always got Charlie’s back.
But LOL, on the first book, she was on dial-up nga and then on the second book, she suddenly has an iPhone. What year was the iPhone released? XD
Ok, on to my favorite lines: "Do not read and reread a man’s text message, or e-mail, or listen to his voice message, over and over again. Do not try to delve into his words for hidden meaning, or call your friends to get their opinions on “what he really means.” It’s a message, not the Constitution—you’re not supposed to study it." – OUCH. Simula pa lang eh, sapul na agad! Hahahaha!
“You know what the right thing to do is, even though it’s usually easier (and temporarily more fun) to do the wrong thing." – Sheeeet. I swear, this book speaks to me.
"“Liam. Your name is Gaelic for ‘strong-willed warrior.’ ” I choke on my drink. Liam appears charmed by that information. “Why, yes it is. How on earth did you know that?” At which point Kate innocently says, “Well, I remember looking up the name one night when . . .” It’s at that moment that Kate realizes she should be ending the sentence with, “When Charlie was so infatuated with you that she was looking up your name on babynames.com.”" – Stalker Charlie. Thankfully, I never got to this point. LOL.
“Isn’t that just always the problem with grooms—you need one for a wedding, but they’re subject to availability?" – GDI :(
"For you teenagers out there: Just let me for one minute—I’ll pull out." – Hahahahaha! So true! Sabi ko nga sa friend ko, other than contraception, you should have self-control. Stand by your word na kung hindi pwede, hindi pwede. Whatever he does, say no. LOL.
“It’s better to receive a single rose from a man at your door than a dozen roses delivered to your office. The single rose comes from a man who took the time to pick the rose. The other comes from the man’s assistant calling the florist. Always treasure a man’s time more than his money." – I like this one. Better if both but if you can really only choose one, yeah, I’d choose time. Realistically speaking.
"As I begin limping back toward Drew’s house with Liam at my side, I think about an article I read years ago explaining that when a man sweats, he secretes pheromones, which makes a woman want to bed him. And it must be true. Liam smells amazing. Not men’s cologne yummy—rolling around in a bed with him yummy." – Shet, another lesson about hormones. But this is sooo true. My friend and I were just talking about how you won’t forget an ex’s scent even after so many years.
“Don’t discuss your love life in vivid detail. No one really needs the blow-by-blow account." - Noted. LOL. This so hard to do though.
"Never beg a man to take you back. The only thing worse than having a man leave you is having his last memory of you crying and begging." – Noted. Again.
"Never admit to a man that another man dumped you." - Noted. LOL. For the third time.
"I can hear Liam suppress a sigh as he leaves us. The moment he is out of earshot I whisper to Drew, “What the hell are you doing?” “Getting you a comforter,” Drew says like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “A what?” “A comforter. You know, like, a guy who can comfort you, help you get over Jordan. What better way to get a guy in your bed than to actually own the bed?” – Comforter. Hmm.
“I have to say, and I mean this with love, you don’t strike me as the online dating type,” Liam says. Okay, debate time: Do I focus on the words, “I mean this with love,” or the statement, “You don’t strike me as the online dating type.” – Shet, ang funny. Why do women love to dissect every word said by the guy?! LOL.
“Men who actually want to break up don’t tend to call the next day. Unless you still have their key.” Liam reconsiders. “And even then, some men just pay a locksmith to change the locks.” - Noted.
"If you can’t be with the cake you love, love the cake you’re with.” – Cake.
"Men are fuckers who just want to mess with your head." – LOL. I actually disagree. I think they’re simple. Women tend to mess with other women’s head more.
“Call me. I have news.” Five words that annoy me even more than, “It’s not you, it’s me.”" - True.
"When women break up, more than half the time what we mean is, “I need this relationship to change.” Or, “I need you to change.” When men break up, what they mean is, “I want to break up.”" – OMG. So true.
"Don’t obsess about your looks, but don’t ignore them, either. Potential suitors can’t see your brain from across the room." – Sad, but true.
"Be happy you’re married and never have to wait by the phone again." – LOL. I said something similar to a “married” friend. Just be thankful you don’t have to go to singles’ events anymore.
"The following morning, I awake to the smell of bacon. Really . . . is there any better smell in the world?" – Really.
"You’re never going to win an argument by telling the person they’re stupid. Be nice at first, and try to win their trust. Then nail them with the truth." – True. Sabi nga ng friend ko, when you tell them directly, they don’t get it. Reverse-psychology actually works XD (less)

I liked it more than I thought I would! I’ve never read anything from this author but she’s clawing her way up there with my favorites. There were a few things that were questionable for me but it was exciting, hot and I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a total guilty pleasure. There’s a sequel this fall. I hope there will only be two books. ^^(less)

Ok, I still like Maxon more. And seriously, I don't even know where to start with America. Ok fine, she's 16 and she's confused but still, she's so freaking annoying. I wanted to stop reading this at some point because I didn't want to deal with the teenage crap anymore but I decided against it because I want to see this to the end.
Ok first, the Marlee thing. I understand that she feels bad because they're really close and she thinks it's unfair but really, she's too much. I mean, it's not her fault that "that" happened to Marlee so why the overreaction? The way she acted, it's like she's blaming herself for what happened to Marlee and she got totally mad at Maxon for "not doing anything". Well, what would she rather Maxon do? Let them go unpunished? That would undermine the authority of the royalty. Plus, when you entered The Selection, that was one of the rules that were mentioned. All of the candidates knew that they can't date another person. Marlee made a mistake, she broke the rule and mean as it is, she kind of deserved that punishment. Well, actually she's doing the same thing with Aspen, they've been sneaking out and kissing in secret. Actually, I wanted her to get caught, too and have Maxon end up with someone else. LOL!
Second, how she immediately ran back to Aspen when she was disappointed with Maxon after the Marlee thing and actually, she always runs back to Aspen every time she's disappointed with Maxon. There was a time when she told Aspen that she feels like she's hurting him so much and she doesn't understand how he can still love her. I'm like, have you forgotten that he hurt you first?! And she actually realized that in the end. See, this thing between Aspen and Maxon is really pissing me off.
Third, the thing with Gregory Illea's diary. I think Maxon stressed it enough that she has to keep it a secret but what did she do, she showed it during her presentation. Soooooo goddamn stupid!
I also don't like how she's always self-pitying, saying things like, "It's my fault, just send me home." Gahd, so annoying! I mean, I can only take her indecisiveness and there are times when I really can't stand it anymore.
Ok, so she wants Maxon to be loyal and honest? But she isn't loyal and honest to him! I mean, if you're expecting the same courtesy then stop kissing Aspen on the side. Kaya I swear, even when she caught Maxon hooking up with Celeste and I didn't even feel bad for her because she was doing it, too. She just feels doubly hurt because it's the girl she hates the most. And it's a goddamn competition, Maxon has to do those things with the other girls because she hasn't given him an answer. What does she expect him to do while waiting? Not go out with the girls anymore. Masyado ka naman maswerte, teh.
I swear, she became really unbearable at times. One more scene I can remember was when she was bitching at Kriss by saying that she probably hasnt suffered much because she's in a higher caste. Kriss told her this, " Don't pretend that you know anything about what I can and cannot tolerate. Just because you're a Five, you think you're the only one who's ever suffered?" TRUE THAT!!! Seriously, Team Kriss!!!
Well in the end, she remembered, realized and understood everything but seriously, I'm just sick of her already. I want Maxon to pick Kriss. At this point, I think Maxon and America don't deserve each other anymore. Hahahaha!
What I'm happy about the second book though is that there are actually challenges now. Now, this really seems like The Bachelor. Also, it's good that I am now understanding the relevance of those rebellions.(less)

Gray was such a drool-worthy male lead but when Charles Brown as the other guy, it went downward spiral from there. The ending was cute but I think the author should've focused on Gray and Daphne throughout the whole book. I mean, there's already Kevin, aka the douche ex-fiancee so I felt like there was no need to introduce a new guy. Anyway, it was a fun read. ^^(less)

I cried nonstop while reading the last 6 chapters and I think I cried at least twice before that. I expected that twist but it made me cry like a baby nonetheless. Dammit, even Peter van Houten made me cry. Augustus Waters was the perfect boyfriend. He’s someone that you’re not just going to like for his face but also for his brains and wit. He’s such a flirt and I really like that about him. Gosh, I wish I’d find someone who’d call me by both names like he does with Hazel Grace. Damn him, he says all the right things.
And there’s Hazel. She’s such a strong kid. I love how she questions and doesn’t just accept the conventional. The whole thing about the scrambled eggs was funny and quite ridiculous but she really did have a point. This book is just epic. It was funny. It was inspiring. There’s nothing to complain about – the main characters, their friends, their families, the lines were all beautiful and memorable. I can’t wait for the movie. I trust the actors, I’m sure they’ll do it justice.
It’s sad that An Imperial Affliction is not a real book. I would have loved to read it. I want to know if it will also affect me the way it affected Hazel and Gus. (less)

Of course, I’d always love the first book but this was a pretty epic sequel, too. I’m glad that I got into this series kind of late because I only had to wait a few days before the final book came out. However, I made a very bad mistake and didn’t read the third book right away. Now, I can’t remember anything from Insurgent. It’s a good thing, I found some of my notes on the ebook. However, I still don’t remember the ending, other than the Edith Prior video.
I will put everything as a spoiler though.
(view spoiler)[1) Seriously though, why is Beatrice and Tobias’ age gap such a big deal?! It’s just two years! 2) Oh and I love Tori! This just convinced me more that Maggie Q was a perfect cast. She’s so like Nikita! 3) I hated Candor and Amity. They’re such useless factions. 4) Seriously, they should cast a really hot Asian actor as Jack Kang! 5) They kept talking about “what’s outside”, does this have some connection to the third book? 6) I love Tris. She’s such a powerful character. 7) There was a part where Tris pretended to be dead to escape Jeanine and Peter helped her. Hmmm. 8) Tobias <333 9) There’s a new character named Fernando and I think he’s a new love interest for Christina. I made a note to not get attached to him because everybody dies. LOL.
