It was a little slow at first getting into the story and characters weren't themselves and I don't mean just Shane and what was going on with him this time around.
Also Monica and Gina's bullying was getting really old, hopefully there won't be much more of than in the coming books. But Myrnin was just as hilarious as ever and I laughed so many times that I lost count!
I'm so invested in this series and I can't wait to find out what happens next!...more

Why did her mother give her up?Darkness Becomes Her is the story of Ari, a girl looking for answers to questions she has wondered about all her life. Why did her mother give her up? Why is she different, with weird teal eyes, and unruly hair the color of moonlight that attracts unwanted attention from men and boys who won't take no for an answer? Who and where is her father? With her foster parents blessing she goes in search of the answers to these questions, her search leads to New 2 which is previously known as southern New Orleans but after 2 hurricanes leaving the land a crumbling mess, The Novem bought it from the US Government. The Novem are 9 familes with lots of money and are all supernatual beings, vamps, witches, demi-gods and shape-shifters.
Ari is down to earth, not easily intimidated and she has an attitude, she can seriously kick butt and she has a big heart. Sebastinan is at first a brooding guy with a seemingly permanent scowl on his face but then turns out to be a pretty sweet guy and as you can guess they have it bad for each other. Crank/Jenna is a sweet girl of 12 years old and drives the mail truck for New 2, not sure what her powers are yet. Dub is a funny guy, 13 years old and I think Crank likes him. Henri is around Ari's age and her first impression of him is she thinks he is like her, his eyes are a weird golden brown color. And my favorite character is Violet, 10n year old Violet with short black hair, black eyes, and she has fangs, doesn't talk much, but you do not want to piss her off. She is loyal and unwavering in her friendship for Ari.
Somethings were predictable but it was still a good story. It's like when you read some of the greek myths and think what if that's not the end of the story, and there is really more to it, and it continued on for generations and then Ari's story becomes part of it because she finds out that there was a curse (a curse that is too horrible to even think about)that was placed on her and her ancestors (all female BTW), and once she knows what she is and that she has an enormous task to deal with she doesn't back down, and then we were left with a HUGE ending, so yeah looking forward to reading the next book A Beautiful Evil, should be good....more

I normally don't like pinks and reds, I usually pick blues and purples, but the red fading to pink with the black floral curlicue designs is just beautiful and the dress is too, with Kate facing away from us looking at the Eiffel Tower it draws you in but my favorite is the cover of the second book its just beautiful.
OK I loved the story, the idea that there are these Revenants...people who risk their lives and die saving someone else and then reanimate 3 days later...is interesting, they aren't zombies with decaying flesh and wanting to eat your brains, they look like normal people who just happen to be in the habit of acting as gaurdian angels. It was a different perspective on the whole living dead scenario.
Kate is a very strong character, she doesn't think she is, she just doesn't see it. She doesn't see herself as beautiful, she is unasssuming and reserved, she only has her sister and grandparents after their parents died. They move to Paris to live with the grandparents and she meets Vincent who is gorgeous and he becomes fascinated by her the more time he spends with her. But turns out he's not human and she isn't sure how to handle the whole dying and coming back to life. How can she watch him die again and again just after losing her parents?
The other characters are awesome too. Ambrose is playful and hilarious, Jules is smooth and a big flirt, Charlotte is darling and a sweetheart, Gaspard is charming even for a nervous, stuttering poet, Georgia her sister is very flirty but endearing at the same time, Jean-Baptiste is a little stuffy but very protective. I have a hard time deciding which is my favorite, it's between Jules and Ambrose they were so funny and entertaining I just can't decide between them.
The bad guy, Lucien, was very bad, very sadistic. Don't want to say more than that, afraid I'll give something away. Ok going a little cryptic here, something happened with Kate and her granfather, she must have forgotten about it because she didn't mention it to Vincent or the others, so maybe this will come up in Until I Die, guess we'll see, May is just around the corner thank goodness....more
Emma she is a good heroine, she's funny and I like her sarcastic attitude. She doesn't back down from a fight and she's a g**spoiler alert** 3.5 stars
Emma she is a good heroine, she's funny and I like her sarcastic attitude. She doesn't back down from a fight and she's a good friend. I didn't imagine her to look like the girl on the cover, I thought the girl on the cover looked to soft(?) maybe, I thought she ought to look tougher, rougher, harder. I liked Bennett and their attraction, how they are always fighting like an old married couple LOL. I liked the ghost story too, really eerie and creepy, and the bad guy I thought was a lot like Lord Voldemort, very very bad and very very evil and very very dark.
So the questions I'm left with are:
1. Where are her family? 2. What was the falling out between Max and Bennett? 3. How did Neos get Emma's mother's amulet after she gave it to Bennett? 4. Why does Emma's mother say not to trust Benntte if they made him her gaurdian before they left? Or was that a lie Bennett told Emma because the papers were fake? 5. Should she trust anybody at The Knell and is there going to be a triangle because Bennett and Emma can't be together? OH I hope not!!!
