It was written to perfection. The style was absolutely unique and amazed me at every page. I couldn't put it down and had it read in less than two days. The descriptions were many, and yet not over-bearing like it would in most books. I found them to fit the book beautifully and brought the story to life in a whole new way. I wish I could give more stars!
The main character grew so much throughout the novel and in the end had become a strong individual. That is something I look forward to in every novel. To see how the main character takes on the challenges and grows from beginning to end.
Each page and each chapter had something new and crazy happening and romance that you never expected to actually come into play.
The fact that the story starts in an asylum is already extremely different. You want to know why? How? For how long? What's wrong with the main character? It takes a little while to find out the answers, but it's worth it and very sad.
The differences in their world- you never know the date or time or where they are, but you know their Earth is different than ours and it sounds awful. That the main two characters are not only fighting for their lives against a dictatorship but against a falling apart society.
Tahereh Mafi knew what she was doing when this was written and I can't wait to read more from her.(less)

And once I found out that this author had created a whole world of them, I grabbed it off the shelf and bought it immediately. I had always thought of trolls as big ugly ones under a bridge.
It made me think of how Melissa Marr had created her whole new world of the fae in her books and I was completely enticed. I love when someone can create a community or government and bring you into it. You get the rules and regulations of something that sounds so real but is completely made up. The writing is traditional, and at times I felt like the book lacked an amount of action but found myself drawn in by the fact that They Are Trolls (or Trylle as they were called in the book).
Plus Trolls with powers which anything with a special power will grab my attention right off the bat.
Combine that with a possibility of a blossoming romance had me wanting to read until the end.
I am looking forward to the second book and hope that there is much more action to have me on the edge of my seat.(less)

And although the book seemed to jump Point of View numerous times throughout every story, I found it almost refreshing to be able to know what each character was feeling, however I hope that this doesn't continue throughout the next few books to come. That could become over-bearing and push aside the main character, Zoey Redbird. The story itself was good and it kept me wanting to see what happened next. I wanted to see what crazy part of their world would we be thrown into next, but I felt at times the book didn't really move forward. We relived the details from previous books in the series instead of getting new adventures. And the ending fell short to me. I was hoping for something big and I felt let down. It seemed too easy and too basic for an ending, especially with a series that has been going on so long and still has a few more books to go. It should have been epic and making me stomp my foot and pouting for the next one. I will read till the very end, hoping to find that enjoyment that I found in the first few books and expect that this ending is only leading to something far too amazing to even mention in Destined! *fingers crossed* With that said I still am looking forward to the next books in the series and can't wait to see how P.C. and Kristin Cast move this story along.(less)

A young girl trying to find her way finds herself in the path of a vampire who can't keep himself away from her, or vice versa. The emotion and love between the two characters happens quickly but pulls you in just as fast. You want the two to get together and you want it to last. The action offers edge of your seat excitement. After the first few pages, I found myself intrigued to know what would happen next and how the book would end. The quick point of view changes had me confused at times and grammatical problems caused me to re-read a few passages. But I would still recommend this to the vampire story readers out there. This is Definitely an enjoyable visit to the Tears of Crimson.(less)

Love it. You know there are going to be some crazy shenanigans going on in this book and I couldn't wait to see what Ms. Caine had in store for us. The book started off a bit slow- less with the action and more with learning and understanding- which is fine, but by book 11 expect to jump right into some insane drama. It still works because after all it is the 11th book-have I mentioned that already? And we've been waiting for this book for a while now- so with the slow beginning you get to bring yourself back up to speed with details from the previous books slowly creeping back into your brain, and on top of that you fall in love with the characters all over again. Claire- the main character- is this small but very strong and intelligent female. How could you not love her? And her big muscular but sweet boyfriend. Great duo. And then Vampire Michael- who wins my vote for sexiest hands down! :) and his Fiance!! Goth Chick Eve- which I would love for a best friend! These four main characters are perfect together and bring the story back to life. So yes the beginning isn't fast paced, but it gives you the chance to get back into the swing of things- Morganville style :) About halfway through, the action picks up and I literally sat at the edge of my seat as I read the rest of this book! I couldn't put it down! From one crazy thing to another- and new bad guys to go up against- the plot was well written, attention grabbing, and absolutely what I expected for Book #11! :) Rachel Caine has absolutely shown me why I love reading her books all over again and let her creative mind wow me and of course craving more.
I give Last Breath by Rachel Caine 5 stars and completely recommend those who have already read the series to be sure to read this one soon! and those who haven't read the series to grab the first book Glass House and start it today! (less)
