There is no other book that I have re-read so many times! The story of Harry is wonderful. He starts off, shy, hurt and unsure of himself or his potential and he comes such a long way.
What makes this book so wonderful is the relateability of it. Sure there's people flying around on broomsticks and trolls in the dungeon, but despite the magical setting, there's the numerous things you see in every day life. The teacher with a chip on his shoulder, the braniac that's desperate to be the teacher's pet, the loyal pet, the bully and the best friend. Those are things that everyone can relate to on some level, and it really adds to the story. Not to mention that these characters don't stand in place. Although it's a short book in comparison to others in the series, there is plenty of character growth.
I have a thing for firsts in a series, and this one is perhaps the best "first" I've ever read. No matter how many times I read it, I'm always finding a new piece of foreshadowing for events in later books, laughing at the well timed jokes and enjoying the book just as much as I did the first time.
No matter how down I get, I can always open this book and feel like I'm going home. I would recommend this book to anyone!
I understand why some people don't enjoy this book. There are some things that people can misinterpret into awful things, but as a fan of Twilight, II understand why some people don't enjoy this book. If you want a melodramatic, intense, magical, romantic and plot filled book, then check out Twilight. People who don't like this book tend not to like it because of the melodrama.
I'll read a book twice every so often. I rarely read a book three times and it's unheard of that I've read a book five times. I'm on my fifth read of Twilight and I actually love it more than I did the first time. There's so many hidden things that I didn't catch the first couple of times around. I'm so glad that I'm re-reading the book.
Bella is like a best friend to me now, and Twilight is my go-to book when I'm not feeling well. Yes, there are flaws (like the obsessive love thing-though it could be argued that it's accurate, because a teenager "in love" isn't always the most levelheaded), but there are excellent parts (the last 3 chapters are amazing).
If you're a hopeless romantic, don't mind a good bit of melodrama, and can realize that this book is fiction and can take it with a grain of salt (and not a guide to your love life), then I highly recommend this book....more

The writing style is clearly geared towards a younger audience (think 5th grade) but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable for adults. ...more
