Whoa, that was a blast! 24 hours ago I hadn´t even started reading and now I´m done. I can´t remember the last time I stayed up half the night with a book. I don´t even know where to start. First of all I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way that book is written. It´s so modern, easygoing and funny, I lost count of how many times I had to laugh so hard - there were so many dialogues that were simply hilarious. Just the same there´s so much sensivity and emotion going on and yes, Jennifer Armentrout knows exactly how to bring on the steam, so that I got the feeling my head would explode sometimes. I have to admit that it´s been a while since I have finished Half Blood, the prequel to this book, so I did not quite remember all of what happened in there. But it was a matter of only a few pages and I was right back into the action. Alex, half-blood and future Apollyon still is this stubborn, cool, sexy girl-fighter, but this time, she´s got to deal with two boys. Well, normally I totally know what side to chose, you know like I´m Team Edward, Team Tucker, ... but this time I´m completely clueless. Aiden´s this mystic stranger, the one you can´t get enough of because he´s making himself so scarce and when you have him he´s like a drug you´ve been living without far too long. Seth, on the other hand is so carefree, extremely sexy and saucy. In Half Blood I thought he was just a jerk but now you get to see his other side, like the way he cares for Alex when she´s sad, the way he keeps her safe. I just sooo loved the dialogues between Seth and Alex. This book is a must read, one of the best "second" books I´ve ever read and definitely one of my favourites this year, no matter what will still come along. I´m so so glad it´s just a matter of months until October, and the third book "Deity" will be out! I can´t wait!(less)

2013 definitely is the year of extremely stunning books, just like these. Oh my gosh, wow! AMAZING and EPIC reads!!!!
...and before you start with these books make sure you read the novellas. And be a good boy/girl and read them neatly one after the other, because they lead to the events happening in Throne of Glass.
1. The Assassin and the Pirate Lord 2. The Assassin and the Desert 3. The Assassin and the Underworld 4. The Assassin and the Empire
I equally adored those, just like the books!
I loved Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight so much, because Sarah J. Maas jumps right into the events and starting with the very first page you are kind of sucked into this stunning world of humans, fearies, demons and spiders as big as horses, all ruled by the-most-evil-of-all-times king, who has a very dark secret.
Punished to work in Endovier, which is one of the countries large labour camps, heroine Celaena must try to survive the hard work and assaults of the guards every single day. Normal people only survive one month in this hell, but Celaena has been there for nearly a year when prince Dorian and his captain of the guard Chaol Westfall free her. But everything has a price. She will only live, when she becomes the King´s champion, his right hand who must clear his path of everything and everyone, that´s in his way. That may become some kind of conflicting situation for Celaena, given the fact, that this very king has given the orders to murder her entire family so many years ago, leaving her an orphan at a very young age. Aerobynn, one of the countries most feared assassins, took her in then and trained her to become the countries most notorious assassin herself. But before she can become the king´s champion, she must kill the other 23 candidates for this job...
Celeana definitely is an unusual heroine, but that exactly was the reason why I instantly liked her. She´s very confident, and knows her abilities like she´s a lethal killer and born fighter. Then again, she likes girlie stuff like dressing up, eating in fancy restaurants and an elaborate manicure. Well, she sure does not hide her femaleness and according to the book, she´s a stuning beauty too. And she has an amazing secret to keep, that´s revealed at the end of Crown of Midnight and left me oh-so-craving for the last book!
Oh, and I definitely looove Prince Dorian and Chaol Westfall, these two are truly swoonworthy and perfect guys in their very own way. There´s no denying the romantic tension in Throne of Glass. And it gets even way better in Crown of Midnight. Be prepared for the unexpected!
Celeana, Dorian and Chaol make a perfect team to unravel all the mysteries occurring in these books. And there are A LOT of mysteries, like a dead and oh-so-alive queen of ancient times who has a difficult quest for Celaena or a witch so evil you can´t even begin to imagine.
READ this, definitely READ THIS, LIKE NOW, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? One of my most favourite series of all times!!!
(Yes, I have written that quite often recently, but what can I do if there are so many amazing books right now, le sigh)

I feared, hoped, laughed and cried for and with Gaia, our heroine, throughout the whole book, it was as simple as breathing to totally connect with her. Caragh O´Brien draws a terrifying picture of the future world that - in my opinion- is not so far off what could become reality sooner or (hopefully) later and that made the story even more real for me.
In "Birthmarked" there´s a two-class society, where the rich are protected, surrounded by the walls of a city where everything seems like it used to be and better. Outside the walls there´s Gaia´s home, and here it´s a daily struggle for survival like for food and the basic supplies and families are constantly watched by the cities authorities. And as if that´s not enough every month 3 newborns have to be passed on to the city because there, due to a lack of divergent genes, genetically genereted sicknesses are spreading. Gaia´s a young midwife and first absolutely obeys to what is requested of her, but soon enough finds out about all that´s totally wrong and literally has to find her own way out of all the mess.
There´s barely been a love story in my YA books that was so authentic like this one. I mean, when you get to know Leon you know he´s the one, but everything developes slowly, awkwardly and exactly that made it feel so right. I loved it!
I totally recommend this book to everyone, no matter if you´re a YA or dystopian lover or both. This book is easy to read, fast paced, thrilling from the first page to the very last and creates a world in your mind you would not believe. Caragh O´Brien´s a genius and absolutely has my awe! (less)

I stumbled across these books by chance this year and it was a blessing I could read all three of them within a year (Series are great, but it´s kind of nerv wrecking to have to wait for another year for the next book and when it´s finally released, you have forgotten the small but often important details of the last book) While the first book mainly deals with the story of June and Day themselves, the second book shows, that the Colonies are not as nice as they seemed from afar. Also, the second book "Legend" left me shaken with an heart-wrenching ending I had not at all expected.
Champion, the last book of Day and June, picks up a few months after the events of Legend. The Republic and the Colonies are on the brink of war, so June and Day are trying their utmost to prevent it. But it´s not only war they have to deal with, there are a lot of difficult desicions to be made and the two main characters deal with all events, well, as good as they can, given the world they live in. They are so brave and strong although they are still so young it´s unbelievable and great.
It´s the small details in this book, that amazed me so much. June, as an agent, watches everything and no detail escapes her and Marie Lu has done and outstanding thing writing that down. Sometimes I thought I was in the middle of a season of 24, the way these books were written. Just stunning! And Day, he´s the perfect other part of June, always a step ahead of what´s happening, caring, incredibly smart and - of course - georgeously looking!
There is no doubt that these books are among my most favourites of all times and Marie Lu sure as hell is and outstanding and incredibly smart writer. Marie Lu, it was a pleasure reading your amazing books!(less)

It´s twists and turns made my brain ache and there were so many things happening on one page I could not lose focus for one single moment. The books continues right where Divergent closes, there´s not a single minute inbetween and like in Divergent, Roth describes all the settings so carefully I had no difficulties in diving into Tris´world again. I adored the gentle relationship between Tris and Four in Divergent and loved to see it continue in Insurgent. Although - in the middle of the book - I had the sudden urge to stab Mrs. Roth because she was taking that away from me for a lot of pages. But a relationsship´s never easy in reality, nor is it between Tris and Four. Decisions had to be made and sometimes you just don´t agree with eachother. Tris continues to be this strong character we know from Divergent and I love how much she believes in herself. Just the same, the memories of her parent´s dying and Will´s death at the end of Divergent do not make life easy for her and leads her to actions I could only shake my head in disbelief. Still, I was adoring her for her bravery. I think the books ending was not quite unpredictable, but now you just can´t tell where Roth´s 3rd book is leading and this makes me crave it even more. I hope it´s going to be out very, very soon and can´t wait to hold it in my hands. (less)
Oh I love these series more and more with each book. I thought it was great from the very beginning, but this turns out to become an EPIC MUST-READ.
I...moreOh I love these series more and more with each book. I thought it was great from the very beginning, but this turns out to become an EPIC MUST-READ.
If you think each book (Cinder, Scarlet and now Cress) only deals with one character at a time, you´re so wrong! With each book, Marissa Meyer´s universe evolves and new characters are added to the story, which is done perfectly. Even the multiple POV is flawless and after every scene I was thrilled to know more about what everybody was up to. The story flows so smoothly, it´s a pageturner from the beginning through the end. Captivating, thrilling, everything a great book needs. At times I thought I was in the middle of an 'Ocean´s eleven' movie, that´s how suspense-packed it was. And the characters: you´d think that those princesses and princes are all the same, but the girls first: Whether it was Cinder, Scarlet or Cress, they all have their very unique personality (oh, and let´s not forget IKO, the funny and precocious android girl)and I loved every single one. During hard times like they have to go through in the books with the evil queen Levana (I thought that Levana and Leck - the vicious king of Kristin Cashore´s series Fire-Graceling-Bitterblue would make an awesome evilness-personified psycho-mad couple of the century)it´s really good they have their guys at their side. I was excited to see, if Kai finally gets his Cinder or how Scarlet and Wolf interact with eachother. Cress gets the guy of her dreams too, but I won´t tell who it is because I don´t want to spoiler anyone :) Just as much: Cress gets the most perfect kiss one could ever have.
At the end of Cress, there´s a sneak peek at Winter, the final installment of this series and it will be oh so weird but oh so good, I´m sure. As I don´t want to get any older I hope this year is over soon, so I can finally turn the first page of WINTER!

My feelings are torn betweeen OMG I´m soooooo glad I found this story and OMG I can´t believe it´s already over. Seriously, I have constantly been watching the little progress numbers on my kindle and prayed that this story would never end. I GIGGLED, I CRIED, I THREW MY HANDS UP IN THE AIR, I WAS ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING Yes it´s a romance, but oh so funny. Imagine, a boyband - a very famous one, that is - moves in with you, because during a show someone shot at them, your dad´s a special agent and he hides them at his mansion where his family lives. Of course all guys are swoonworthy. You´d think they´re so caught up in their success, their looks. But then you live with them and find a new BFF-boy and the love of your life. Not bad, eh? I mean, the scenes were straight hilarious: A Twitter feed on the fridge, to save one of the boys from his Twitter withdrawals, a bored Zombie-style walking boyband member, a nearly-naked-boy-in-a-girls-room misunderstanding? Hell, yes!
Cloe, 18 and Aralie 17, are no fans of the famous canadian boyband 'Spaceships around Saturn' contrary to their smaller sister Emery, 6. She is the epitome of fangirlism and can´t seem to contain herself, when her favourite SAS boy moves in with her together with the other band members.
I mean Emery, she´s exactly how a 6 year old crazed fan would be and she caused innumerable of my LOL moments. I connected with the story so much, I thought I lived with the family and the boys. I loved the constant banter, Emery´s fangirlism, the boys pranks, the beautiful stolen moments. It was so totally funny but beautifully written at the same time. I could list a ton of unforgettable quotes here. Finally I have to say, that I especially loved the families mom. I´m hoping I might be a little as cool as she is.
I truly recommend this book to everyone who loves a really funny, yet beautiful romance with incredible characters. It´s a MUST-READ and if I had 20 stars, I´d happily give them.
