I really enjoyed Abandon, the first installement in the trilogy (which is basically a modern re-telling of the Hades and Persephone myth). But then, Underworld was even better than its precedent! I was hooked! I've always loved ancient Greek and Roman myths (as well as other legends and stories). So when these are cleverly entertwined within another story it's hard to resist! I, personally, hardly put this book down! And I can't believe that Meg Cabot left such a cliff-hanger knowing that her readers will have to wait until May to read the next and final book! This was a great finish for my 2012 reading!(less)

The ending felt too rushed, and so I wouldn't have minded another chapter or so to pull together a few lose strands.(less)

Although I did enjoy it a lot, I gave it a slightly lower rating only because the repetition got to me; some bits of the dialogue between Christian and Ana was quite predictable. And on a few occasions, I really did want to roll my eyes at what they were saying. On another note, I really enjoyed this book because we gain a lot more insight into the characters, and we start to uncover some of Christian's darker side, which is mainly about his past. We also see the relationship between Ana and Christian evolving. I love to see characters grow and change. All in all, it was a great sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey.(less)

It is by no means a literary masterpiece (there is a lot of repetitiveness and rambling), but it is a fun-to-read, trashy romance. Perfect for the summer. That said, while reading, I understood immediately why there is such a wide range of opinions on this book. Nevertheless this book, is a sort of "guilty pleasure" to read (like many other out there). I also have to give it to her; James has left a shocker of a cliffhanger. Luckily I had the next book to run to (I actually ran across the house to get the next book--I have a witness). If you want to give this a read, do. Keep an open mind about it. But I do have to warn you there is very mature content in here; so if you know you won't enjoy that sort of content, it is better to just walk away. I gave this book a high rating, not because of the writing, but rather because it has entertained me. If you decide to give it a try, I hope you'll enjoy it!(less)

This novel in particular was exciting, because aside from the romance and the mystery that is Christian Grey, there is also a lot of action (car chases, etc.). I feel that we see more of the secondary characters in this installement. As in the previous two books, the main weakness is the repetition and rambling (now I feel I'm being very repetitive myself by saying the same thing about all three books--forgive me). However, I was pleased with how things fell into place in the end, and to see two "bonus chapters"; one from Christian's point of view as a child during his first Christmas with the Grey's, and the other as the firt meeting between Ana and Christian from Christian's point of view (I loved seeing things from his point of view; it was very... refreshing ;P). Absolutely loved them! They give even more insight into his character, and how he's changed from the beginning to the end. I am very pleased with how the trilogy ended. I hope you enjoy it as well!(less)

It was real, palpable and really touching. I could connect with the characters, and I found it intersesting that the story was told from the points of views of Mikey and Ellie, the siblings of the two people who were directly implicated (Karyn and Tom) in the crime. A must read.(less)

However, I realized I didn't remember the story anymore. Luckily my school library had a copy (I borrowed it there the first time I read it as well). Now, after having, literally, devoured the novel, I remember why I loved it so much (and still do). It's full of mystery, history, beauty, romance, suspense, self-discovery and many intertwining storylines, including the important notion of forgiveness. I am really upset that this novel is out of print. It's a powerful novel with strong messages that I believe resonate with people of all ages.(less)
