Dealing with some of these deeper issues can be really tricky, but I think Brina Courtney does it with grace.
I found the romance very sweet, almost a little too sweet at times. Hannah's processing of the tragedy was very real. I loved her strength, but also the fact that she fell apart like any of us would. I think Brina Courtney did this really well.
If you like stories that deal with real life issues then this is worth checking out :)

At first I didn't like either of the MCs. They were just so mean to each other. I was worried that the entire book would be like that, but something intrigued me and so I read on. Man, I'm SO glad I did. I grew to love the MCs at about the same pace they fell for each other. As each angry layer was peeled away you began to see how history had shaped their relationship and their lives.
I was soon rooting for them and wanted them to get together SO badly.
Their relationship was steamy and gorgeous. Their sexy encounters were complimented by heartfelt scenes and I actually loved how gorgeous they both were. I'm usually put off by characters who are so good looking, but Komal Kant totally sold these two to me.
I have already got Falling for Hadie (Book 2) on my Kindle and am going to start reading it as soon as I've finished writing this review. Super excited!!
If you like contemporary romance with edgy, sexy characters then this book is TOTALLY worth checking out.(less)

I didn't read the entire thing from front to back as I think it should be used more as a reference guide. I am currently working on a fantasy and will be going back and referring to certain chapters as I edit my work.
The book made me think about the finer details of fighting and will help me avoid some of the little blunders so easily made.
A must read for anyone who wants to write realistic and decent fight scenes. I know I will be referring to this book for many projects to come. (less)

What I loved most about the story was the mystery surrounding their creation and the awesome history of their kind. I LOVED what they got up to in London and the other characters we were introduced to at Praxos. I think this a great beginning to a wonderful series. Can't wait for more :)(less)

I've never touched a novella before. I'm not really sure why. I just prefer full length books I guess. After reading this, I am still a fan of the fuller length novel. I prefer getting a little deeper with the characters. In saying that, I still enjoyed this and the best part for me was it made me really hungry to read Suzy Turner's full length: The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw.
A few characters are introduced at the end of this novella that really intrigued me and THANKFULLY there is plenty more of them for me to enjoy in 'The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw.' I started reading it last night and am pretty excited :)
Daisy was a great character. I wanted to get to know her more. I would have liked to see more of a relationship blossom between her and Jack too.
If you like stories about ghosts, then this is definitely worth checking out.

Rachel Aaron gives us some fantastic tips in this book that are easy to implement. The author and I have a similar way of plotting our novels. I have become such a planner and have discovered the benefits of it as I've learned more. It was great to see she felt the same way. The thing I really loved about this book was that although we work the same, I still picked up some brilliant tips that I will put into place. Rachel Aaron has helped me to refine my system.
I have already put some of her practices into play and I have noticed an increase in my word count. Also, some of her tips on editing are fantastic. I am just up to the editing stages of my current project and I spent this morning implementing her scene map technique. It's definitely saved me some time and a few future editing hiccups. I can already tell :)
Thank you for sharing your awesome writing ways, Ms. Aaron. I am one very appreciative writer.(less)

I really liked Hadie and I loved her parents and the family dynamic. It reminded me a little of the family in that movie, Easy A. Just a really cool, open family dynamic. It was an excellent contrast to Lincoln's family.
This book is pretty heart wrenching - be warned! It didn't steal my enjoyment though. I don't want to give anything away, so won't say more, but the ending is satisfying :)
Once again, I read the book in like a day. I really like Komal Kant's writing style and I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!(less)

I am so into Alex and Lila. I didn't want the book to end. I was almost hesitant to start a new book, because I wanted the characters to stay with me for a while longer.
This book didn't grab me as much as Hunting Lila did. I found myself putting it down more readily until I hit about halfway. There's a turning point in the story and once I hit that, I couldn't stop reading it.
Once again Sarah Alderson writes a fast-paced, intense story filled with diverse, colourful characters. I grew to like Suki even more this time around. Her and Nate are so funny. It was cool to see Lila's Dad in it a little more too. But at the end of the day, Alex and Lila's romance made these books for me. I just couldn't get enough of them together :)

I'm actually quite sad about it all. Dee Henderson is one of my favourite authors, but this book was a total let down. I found it lengthy, repetitive and there was hardly any tension to keep me going. In the end I skimmed through big chunks of it.

Reason is such a great character and I really loved reading about him from Elaina's viewpoint. The tension between them was awesome and had me reading late into the night. I so wanted to see them sort it all out and tell each other what they were both really thinking and feeling!!
There is plenty of action in this story and (I don't want to give away spoilers) some very cool developments in the overall plot of the series.
The ending was fantastic and I can't wait to read more. Once again, Taylor Longford has done a stellar job at writing a fast-paced novel that made me fall in love, filled me with curiosity and left me wanting more. I was almost sad I read the book so quickly, but I just couldn't help myself! It was impossible to put down and I was left thinking about it for days afterwards. To me, that is the sign of an awesome book.

I was expecting another interesting story with plenty of twists and turns to keep me going. Well - I got that... and more.
I really, REALLY enjoyed this book. For starters, hanging out in ancient Babylon was awesome. Keller captured the city beautifully and it was easy to picture the characters in that setting.
I found myself liking each character just a little more - especially Miranda. She grew on me with the turn of each page and I loved the relationship between her and Mark. They were very sweet and obviously in love, but they also had no problem being honest with each other and bickering every now and then. It was very entertaining.
I liked finding out more about Mark's grandfather and a little of his history. I think the relationship between the two of them is very real and I like the way they seem to love each other yet drive each other insane at the same time.
Keller threw me for a loop when she made one decision, mid-way through the book, that I never thought would happen. This just made me want to read faster as my emotions were now fully engaged. Mark is stretched to his absolute limit throughout the story and he handles each challenge with his usual wit. I love Keller's writing style. She is a very intelligent, humorous writer.
I would recommend Screwing Up Babylon to anyone who enjoys a fast paced time travel peppered with mystery and humor. (less)

I really love the school Christy attended and the stuff she learned along the way. All the different tests were pretty cool and I really like the way she was so creative in how she handled them. Once again, I say that Christy is a really cool, likeable character.
The climax was great, fast paced and intense. I love those moments in a book where it is simply impossible to put down. The ending of Created is just like that.
I like who Christy ended up with and the final conclusion to the book. I switched off my kindle very satisfied :)
Once again, the cover doesn't match the story, which is a little disappointing, but not enough to take away from the story. This series is worth investing in.
I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a little espionage. (less)

I feel so privileged to share this book with everybody. It's been an amazing project to work on and it feels SO good to have it out in the world.
My aim for writing this book was to pull a few heart strings, make my readers laugh a little, cry a little and hopefully catch a glimpse of what unconditional love looks like.

I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as Valor and I can't even put my finger on why. I think it may have been that I like MacKenzie a little more than Mim. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with Mim, she's a sweetheart. It's just MacKenzie has more spunk and I really liked her love story with Valor.
I like the way the story is told from Dare's POV. It was a nice change up to have a male character telling the story... and his story is a good one. Out of all the gargoyles he's suffered the most and it was great to see behind the veil a little more.
The ending was awesome and I can't WAIT to start Reason (Book 3 in the series). I love the way Taylor Longford has made each story an individual tale, but has kept a thread of mystery running throughout the series. I want to know what's happened to the missing gargoyles. I love the way these brothers and cousins care for one another and their protective instincts are awesome.
The history of the harpies is really cool too and I'm hoping she will expand more on their story as the books progress. I guess I'll have to wait and see :D
All in all, a fantastic read and anyone who enjoyed Valor will no doubt enjoy this book too.

Taylor Longford's unique idea of gargoyles being these stunning statues that could transform into humans hooked me straight away. The concept is original and so entertaining. I fell for each gargoyle as I was introduced to them. They are a fantastic family of guys and I hope Longford writes a book about each and everyone of them.
The main character, MacKenzie, was great. She had flair and style, yet was really compassionate and sweet as well. I really enjoyed her relationship with Valor. Although a little insta-love, I still found myself rooting for them right from the start.
The history of the gargoyles was really creative and I liked the idea of the harpies and the gargoyles battling it out. I can see real potential as the series progresses.
As I said above, the biggest draw card for me was the endearing nature of the gargoyles. Although tough, strong and basically indestructible, they are really sweet guys and super protective. You've just gotta love that!
I have already bought a copy of Dare and look forward to reading more books about these amazing creatures.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced, romantic read with some very loveable characters. (less)

It was cool seeing Christy's journey. I liked watching her get tougher and physically stronger. I love that she's so intelligent and has a photographic memory. I think she is a very cool, likeable character.
Alex I am not so sure about. I just don't quite trust him for some reason. I can't even pinpoint what that reason is, but I don't want her to end up with him.
The only thing that really confused me about the book is the cover. I was waiting and waiting for this image to appear, but it never did. For some reason it made me feel disappointed. I wanted to see Christy with red hair. Weird, I know, but I like it when the covers match the story.
Altogether a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a fast paced story with a very likeable MC.(less)

I won it in a competition and loaded it onto my kindle without a second thought. It's actually taken months to get to the book, but I'm really glad I got there. This was a great read and because I hadn't read the blurb, the first few pages were filled with unexpected surprises. It took me a while to believe what I was reading!
I ended up liking Christy a lot by the end of the novel. She is very genuine and I totally related to some of her awkward emotions.
There is a love triangle going on in this book. Usually I immediately lean towards one love interest, but I found myself wavering between the two guys throughout the entire book. I didn't know who I wanted her to end up with. I think Hogan did a fantastic job of capturing the emotions of a teen who really likes both parties equally.
The suspense in the book is well done and kept me turning pages. As soon as I finished, I immediately went online and downloaded the next book - Protected. I'm really looking forward to finding out what happens.
If you enjoy books with great characters and good suspense then add Watched to your reading list.

Okay, so why did I love it so much?
First and foremost, Alex, the love interest. I seriously fell in love with him. He is gorgeous and sexy and kind and just everything about him is perfect for Lila. I love how much she loved him. Their romance was sweet and endearing, yet also lined with an edge of passion. It's a really great romance.
The author also gifted us with numerous scenes where Alex and Lila were together. I wasn't having to wait pages and pages for their next moment. I really liked that.
I also loved the mystery, the tension, the action and the pace of the story. There is a twist near the end that I wasn't expecting, but it was awesome. It was a great development for the story and I can't wait to see how it unfolds in book 2 - Losing Lila.
The writing in this book is superb, including some of the best similes I have ever read. There is humor in the text. Lila's voice is likeable and I connected with her immediately.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action-packed, fast-paced stories with great romance and a little magic. (less)

This was a great book. Most of the stuff I read is YA, so it was a refreshing change to pick up an adult book and get thoroughly absorbed. I found myself thinking about it throughout the day and wondering who did it.
Bulletproof is one of those books that starts with lots of tiny pieces and the further you get into the book, the clearer the picture becomes. Small connections between all the characters begin to form. It's like seeing a jigsaw puzzle come to life. It was so awesome, as the book progressed, finding out little nuggets that would then send your theories on a totally different path.
This book kept me guessing until the very end. I so enjoyed the mystery.
The characters are great. I loved Tanner and the relationship he had with his dad was awesome. I found myself empathising with Clay straight away and I so wanted him to prove his innocence.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes a mystery that keeps you guessing until the last couple of pages :)

It was a very easy read and I hurried through the pages and I wanted poor Fresco to make it out of the dire circumstances he'd been thrust into.
Fresco was a very likeable character. You could feel his pain and inner torment. I felt myself empathising with him very early on and I wanted him to win. Once he arrived at Last Stand, the story took off even more for me. I really loved the characters within the house. I almost felt like one of them as I wandered through the rooms and sat with them in the dining room. I could picture the scenes so clearly and I love that in a novel.
I don't want to say too much about the plot, because I never like to give anything away. I read this book not knowing anything about it and I liked the surprises that were thrown my way.
The ending of the book was fantastic and I really look forward to reading Wasteland now. Fresco grew so much throughout the story that I now feel he is ready for this bigger challenge and I can't wait to see him tackle it.
If you like stories with a lot of heart and mystery, I highly recommend this book :)(less)

In fact, I liked it even more than the first book in this awesome series.
I love that Bryn learned how to fly and I liked her growth in the story. The ending was stellar and I'm really looking forward to reading the final book when it comes online.
I started to like Joshua a little more in this book and found my feelings over Aidan mixed. I'm not sure if Ayer has something planned there, but I look forward to seeing what she comes up with.
You can't fault Bryn's spunk. I love her snarky little thoughts and her tough attitude. She is a very cool heroine and one that is easy to cheer for.
Oh yeah - and Thor! Hello! I really enjoyed reading him. Ayer portrayed him perfectly.
All in all - Dead Embers is a great read that is beautifully written. Ayer has the art of painting pictures with her words down pat. She is one talented writer.

This is one of those covers that made me want to read the book without even looking a the blurb. A great start, Ms. Ayer :)
I really enjoyed this book. The writing is elegant and intelligent. It is packed full of mysterious and questions that keep you turning the pages.
I really liked Bryn right from the outset. She is a strong, female character who is compassionate and very easy to cheer for. Her love interest, Aidan, is a total babe and I liked him from the second he pulled into her driveway on his motorbike.
The story leaves earth pretty quickly and you get to hang out with gods like Odin, as well as spend a little time with Valkyries, Warriors and Ulfrs. Ayer describes this world beautifully. I could picture everything so clearly.
As much as I was fascinated with this world, I couldn't wait for the story to get back to earth. I wanted more of Aidan and Bryn's relationship. The story does head back there eventually and I loved that whole sequence. I don't want to give anything away, but Bryn has a very cool mission to complete and throughout it gets one surprise after the next thrown in her direction. I really liked that.
I wanted more romance in this story, but I think that's more personal preference. We all know I'm a romantic sap and enjoy books with a very strong emotional element. Ayer has probably opened up the book to a much wider audience by not dwelling on the romance too much. Boys would really enjoy this book. It is action packed, interesting, fantastical - it's a really awesome read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a little magic and mystery. Norse mythology is pretty cool and Ayer has done a great job at wrapping a compelling story around it.(less)
