I really like Connor as well, I don't know why but I hope he's the one Arilyn is suppose to be with. I think it would make for a hilarious book...more

Kate and Slade had a tumultuous "relationship"to say the least. The turmoil that they go through is part of the reason I love it so much, it felt real. Some of the fears that they both had, are some of the very fears people deal with when deciding if they want to be in a relationship with someone. Although Kate did have some help in that apartment :-)
The scene with Slade and Mrs.White made me tear, it seriously touched my heart and was very relatable. The sacrifices you make for your loved ones ❤️
Epilogue was so different, something I've never seen done before and so sweet. I loved Robert...more

The book intrigued me, I mean who does not want to read a book about the Russian mafia/love story. The one thing that stands out about this book for me, was that it was not saturated with sex scenes. This was a good thing for me, as I feel many of the newer books coming out are just sex scene after sex scene, throw in a little dialogue every few pages. However, this book you really get to know the characters especially Dimitri. I liked the twist that connects Dimitri and Sonya.
Now with all this being said, the reason why I could not give this book 5 stars is as follows.
Sonya was soooooooo damn naive, yes I understand that she is very young. However, her lack of intelligence and just overall lack of questioning anything GEEEZ. It made her seem like such a weak character, especially in comparison to everyone else we encounter.
Now without giving anything away, this book is a huge build up of the fate of Dimitri's mafia family, which was great. One of the reasons I finished the book in such a short period of time. However, when you finally get there it was very blah. It just seemed rushed and lacked a certain luster.
Overall the book was well written and kept my interested, I found myself saying one more chapter one more chapter and then I'll go to bed. Psssh yeah I devoured this book. I look forward to reading other things by this author and seeing her development. ...more

Despite that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Reading certain aspects I found myself getting teary eyed because the book is based on a true story, I also found myself being angry and frustrated with Shannon /Max and John.
I think the beginning story with Max and Shannon was a little frustrating for me like "come on" moments were often for me. At the the end I finally learned why and makes a little more sense to me. I grew to appreciate their relationship.
John... Was amazing at times I did want to shake some sense into him. Despite that though him being the way he was ,completely understand.

While the book was not badly written,it just was not what I thought it would be. The reviews prior to the actual released were "phenomenal " yet quite frankly for me it just lacked a certain luster.
I actually like Ken quite a lot.... He was sarcastic and funny. BB on the other hand comes off as a spoiled brat who does not really know what she wants and whose communication skills are horrendous especially considering she's a psychologist. Ken was exactly who he was from when she started dating him to her marrying him. If she had such a problem with how he was then she should not have married him. Or better yet how about she open her damn mouth and communicate with him..... Stop beating around the bush and just sit him down and speak.
The book did have some funny moments in it. However it just was not enough for me to look past BB's behavior. I kept having to remind myself that this was an older woman and not some teenager just learning to deal with her "first boyfriend" issues....more
