A beautiful, emotional and well-written story of love, misunderstanding and redemption. We were introduced to Serena DePiero in Forgiven but not Forgotten, her sister Siena’s book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... which gave us a glimpse of the terrible lives they had at the hands of their abusive and cruel father.
Serena, former wild-child, who has clawed back to regain her life and sanity..and Luca, enigmatic and broken by his past, who has rebuilt his life after seeing his world implode – this is their story.
The author weaves a story passion, love, angst, hope and happiness of two characters that find love and healing to overcome the horror of their past. Serena and Luca got under my skin….I so wanted them to be together and to find their HEA. From hate to love…..
I enjoyed how the social and ecological issues of the Amazon rainforest are woven into the story and the journey that Serena and Luca embark on to reach a remote mining village in the Amazon was really well done.
Love scenes were so well-written….sensual, sexy, beautiful…
Beautiful locations….what’s not to love about Rio…. and not forgetting Luca’s home in that city…stunning and soooo gorgeous
One unforgettable scene in this story – when Luca takes Serena to the beach to watch the sunset……..so touching, so beautiful
I loved this book and it’s definitely one that I will read again.
Can’t wait for Max’s book next….Luca’s brother’s short appearance in this story made it something to look forward to. ...more

The 12th novel in Nalini Singh’s brilliant Psy/Changeling Series, set in the complex, dark and fantastic world that she has created. And the first book that features two Psy characters as a couple. Darkness & Light.. A beautiful, intense, dark and emotionally filled love story, of two broken people meant to be together since they first met as children. Of how powerful love can be between two souls, despite the pain, the cruelty, the torture both endured nothing will keep them apart.
First introduced in Visions of Heat, Psy Councilor Kaleb Krychek is one of the most powerful, cold, dangerous, emotionless and ruthless members in the Psy Council
who had been under the guidance of the evil, now dead, Psy Cardinal, Enrique Santano. Since a child, had been exposed to the most horrific world, that made him become the person he is today….icy and dark hearted… – he has no problem with killing his enemies and anyone who stands in his way in reaching his goals, one of those being in finding someone that disappeared from his life seven years ago, whose identify we learn at the end in Tangle of Need.
Kaleb Krychek, cardinal telekinetic and a man no one wanted to meet alone on a dark night, had been searching for his quarry for seven years, three weeks, and two days. Even while he slept, his mind had continued to hunt through the sprawling psychic network that was the heartbeat and the cage of the Psy race. Not for a day, not for a second, had he forgotten his search, forgotten what they'd taken from him. Everyone involved would pay. He'd make certain of it.
Sahara Nightstar, Faith Nightstar’s cousin who had disappeared seven years ago and had been held captive and tortured by one of the Council Members. The pain she endured and her mind almost erased was beyond belief.
A lot happens in this book. The world is a dangerous place for everyone – the struggle between the human race, Psy and Changeling world is about to implode. Things unravel at a breathtaking and neck-breaking pace, where secrets are revealed and lots of questions answered…one being the Ghost’s identity is….did we ever guess it?????.....well, it’s no biggie that it’s Kaleb K….I felt all along that there was a good side to him…he had a heart, he had a goodness that he had kept locked away all those years. We begin to see this as Sahara slowly shows him the light he has inside
What made this story so special for me:
Although the plot delves into the politics of the Psy/Changeling world, it does not detract from the love story of Kaleb & Sahara. They are the main characters and feature in almost every chapter, giving you an insight into the healing and love of each other.
How love changed them both….Sahara’s love making Kaleb see the light inside of him….that he was not only darkness That despite the pain and torture they had both endured, they complemented each other perfectly.
Absolutely brilliant how the author managed to make Kaleb into a likable character at the end, without making him into a “wimp”….he’s still dangerous, still loyal, still focused and still true to his goal in making the Psy world a better place for everyone. Hell, he will go to any ends to make Sahara happy, to care for her …
I loved meeting up with characters from the previous books………Faith Nightstar, Mercy, Judd and so many others…and the time Sahara spent in the Changeling world….
Beautifully written, words that flow with such vividness that takes you into this incredible and imaginative world, draws you in to the lives of endearing, lovable and unforgettable characters. An absolute joy it was reading Kaleb and Sahara’s story..

She may have been a doormat when she was the hero's mistress for two years but she certainly grew some backbone when she left him, after he informed her that he was going to marry the "right kind of woman".
So, two years on, hero has divorced the so called perfect wife, who is actually the most odious and bitchy woman ever.........and goes knocking on Billie's door, where she has built a life for herself and the hero's secret son....yes, he wants her back in his life, as his mistress and no not as his wife.........
What a sod.....I so disliked Gio....he takes the alpha-male to a new, so not nice level!!!! But wait, when he discovers he has a son.....something he never wanted to have as he told Billie years before...he suddenly wants him!!!!! Totally unbelievable....arrogant, unrepentant......check this out...when he demands that Billie drop everything and go with him to Greece....
"I need to think about all this," Billie admitted tightly. "You're talking about turning my life upside down." "And my own," Gio added softly. "None of this was on my bucket list either."
Too bad his family love her.....I so wanted him to grovel....not enough grovelling from him was my feeling........
But hey, Billie loves him and in his way I guess he loves her too.....so let me leave the three of them to their HEA........he better be good to her!!!! Or I will come looking for Gio and slap his damn face!!!!!

Everything comes together in this book…all tied up at last….and it so felt a bit flat for me!!! I really struggled to get through it…
This has not my favorite series by JR WARD…that title belongs to the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series….however there were some books that I did like… but mostly it’s been a bit of a hit and miss!!.
Here are some of my thoughts on this “fallen angels finale”:
1. I really liked Jim Heron, the savior of good, in the first two or three books, but my liking began to wan by the time he became so obsessed with Sissy that nothing else mattered top him….I was and still am unable to get “it”…they just don’t feel “right” to me!!! He’s suppose to feel so much for her and he still “does” it with evil Devina…oh yes, he has to do it to save the world…PLEEEEEZZZZ……and he’s even prepared to give one of his souls to her!!!!! Really!!!!! Even knowing that Devina is totally beyond besotted with him!!!! Totally weird!!!
2. Sissy…she just seemed too young and immature!!!! I just could not connect with her.
3. Adrian and all those archangels…they just got on my nerves…they were so “precious” and maddening..all those tea parties in heaven…..and an angel committing suicide!!!! What!!!!!
4. The romance between Jim & Sissy was so tepid!!!!
5. The Purgatory thingies…..yawn yawn yawn!!!!
6. The big Jim Heron revelation……..it didn’t make sense to me…..
What I loved was Devina!!!!! What a surprise…right???? She’s supposedly the ultimate evilness…but you know what???? She never pretended to be anything else – she’s beyond OCD…check…. loves shoes, famous labels – wow, is there brand dropping or not? Chanel lipsticks and she’s totally obsessed with Jim Heron…her Achilles heel!!!!Still???? And here I believed it was her home possessions!!!!! I kind of saw something good under all her evilness!!!!! I would love to see her and Lassiter……getting together!!!! Maybe he’s the one to save her soul!!!!!!
Her therapist appointments made my day……… and my heart went to her as she cried her eyes out……..
and to see her lose everything…okay, she did manage to keep 1 shoe...why not let her keep both???? Damn cruel.....
If you’ve read the previous books in this series, then you should read this one….even though it left me a bit in the air…..was everything resolved or not????
I guess we will not be seeing the end of some of the characters in this series….who knows, they might just make an appearance in future Black Dagger Brotherhood books!!! Yes, please….Devina?????? ...more

Torin, the demon of Disease has been a fascinating character from the first time we met him…. a warrior, loyal, lonely, unable to get close to or touch anyone due to what is demon is able to do…..
His life is about to change when he meets fellow prisoner, Keeleycael, The beautiful and powerful Red Queen. . I loved this character….bad tempered, fierce, intelligent, sassy and totally awesomely adorable…did I mention that her hair color changes with the seasons…that’s right…from dark to light…
The Red Queen. No wonder the immortals in the skies had merely whispered about her. Insane? Cruel? Hell, yeah. They’d probably assumed saying her name aloud would have a Beetlejuice effect and actually summon her.
The sexual tension and chemistry between these two is totally sizzling…
Torin is lost….resisting her is the hardest thing he has ever had to do….if he gives in, his touch could mean her death.
Keeley, who has been around…married to a brutal guy, then betrayed by Hades…no, this girl does not trust men!!! But Torin is not like other men, she soon discovers……she cannot keep away from him…as they travel through the realms of the breathtaking and so well detailed world that the author has created. Amazing writing, compelling plot and incredible dialogue that is witty and totally sparkling….
“You’ll experience agony in ways you’ve never dreamed possible. for I’ll do to you what I’ve done to so many others. I will skin you with a cheese grater and stuff your organs into a blender to make a smoothie. I will donkey punch your skull so hard your brain will ooze out of your eye sockets.”
The first part of the story is Torin and Keeley, which I liked but half-way….that’s what I loved - when they both arrive at the Lords of the Underworld’s home in Budapest!!! That’s when I jumped for joy!!! Checking in with characters we have come to know from the previous books, which I have sorely missed, and the action and suspense and laughter and more laughter….the interaction between Keeley and Anya is amazing….a grin on my face every time these two got together!!!
New characters…loved the Lord’s kids… new revelations…..and still on the trail of that elusive Pandora’s Box!!!!
Gena Showalter never fails ….the series just gets better and better…….I can’t wait for the next book….maybe Cameo…the only demon-possessed female…I would love to read her story!!!! Lords of the Underworld ROCK!!!! ...more

IntroI am a huge fan of Kelley Armstrong and it was a real surprise finding her new series that is nothing like her others, namely paranormal romance.
Introducing a new kick-ass protagonist, Nadia Stafford, ex cop turned hit woman/assassin of bad guys, we are taken into a world of criminals, assassins, spies filled with suspense and mystery.
Nadia Stafford, dishonorably retired from a Canadian police force for shooting a suspect dead, now owner of a lakeside lodge in the Canadian wilderness and part-time assassin for hire. I really engaged with her character. She’s strong, independent but has a soft side that makes her really likeable.
Teaming up with her mentor, Jack, they are thrown into a dangerous chase to finding a hit-man turner serial killer.
Compelling and suspenseful story-line with complex and mysterious characters and the dark world of crime, corruption, betrayal and even a bit or romance…..

Slade was always an interesting character in TNH series….gorgeous, mysterious…not as outgoing as Bones but still as fabulous!
The Night Huntress World series, the spin off from The Night Huntress series starts with First Drop of Crimson and follows Spade and Cat’s best friend, Denise’s story. Denise has been marked by a demon and Spade helps her track down the demon and her ancestors, who play a role on her being “terrorized” by the very bad and seemingly indestructible demon. I loved the tension and attraction between the two of them. They are such a good match. I enjoyed their back-story and how much they helped each other. Cat & Bones make an appearance…which gave me my C&B fix!!!!! If you like the Night Huntress series, you will love this one!!! ...more

II enjoyed Some Girls Bite, which was a great debut in Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires Series and I was looking forward to Merit’s next adventure. I am not sure if I am totally into this series…..Friday Night Bites was a bit of a disappointment for me.
Nothing exciting or new happening here….…it’s once again:
The House of Cadogan is betrayed by one of their own Merit continues to irritate me to no end……so many times I wanted to tell her…”grow up!!” The relationship between Ethan Sullivan & Merit doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. He’s still irritated by her (ooh I can so understand you Ethan!!) and Merit goes from hating him to the next moment of lust for the gorgeous vampire Merit can’t make up her mind between Ethan and Morgan, the other vampire master from Navarre House. I did like Morgan in the beginning but near the end, he become so petulant...okay, I get it’s not so great that Merit keeps him “dangling”…but his behavior is so childish a times.
I felt a lack of character development, action with a very long drawn out storyline.
I was looking for a bit of romance, which there is none whatsoever.
It's not that I hated this book, just not loved it.... But there is something that keeps me interested in this series and I am going to read the next book and hopefully it will be a bit more exciting for me. ...more

It has a good storyline with some unexpected twists and turns and quite an unexpected villain revelation at the end...that I never saw coming.
There are a lot and I mean a lot of characters in the story, most of them not likeable at all – I did however, adored the little boy, Tucker! He was such a lovable character that endeared him to me so much.
Although I liked the mc’s – Callie Cantrell & West Laughlin, I did feel a lack of sexual tension between the two.....their romance seemed to drag on and on.

The 3rd book in David Baldacci’s John Puller Series, about former war hero and now one of the best military investigators in the US Army's Criminal InThe 3rd book in David Baldacci’s John Puller Series, about former war hero and now one of the best military investigators in the US Army's Criminal Investigative Division.
John Puller faces the most difficult and personal assignment, when he’s given the task of finding and arresting his older brother, Robert, a former major in the USAF, who had been found guilty of treason and given a life sentence, and has under mysterious and dubious circumstances escape from the maximum prison he has been incarcerated for the last two years. Fast paced, action packed and complex plot with some surprising twists and turns that keeps you on your toes.
I really like John Puller and his brother is a very interesting and complex character that I hope we get more of in future books. I enjoyed their closeness and the interaction between the two is believable and also getting some back-story of their lives when they were younger.
I wasn’t crazy about Veronica Knox…the underhand way she behaved and I just never got her!!! Undercover, military, CIA …….a bit too cold for me!!!!
One of the things that bamboozled me….all those acronyms….after I while, I just skimmed over what they were and what they meant…because there were just LOADS of them………
A good read and I am looking forward to John Puller’s next adventure!!! ...more
I am always on the look-out for a good urban fantasy/vampire series, so when one of my good GR friends recommended Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland VampiresI am always on the look-out for a good urban fantasy/vampire series, so when one of my good GR friends recommended Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires Series to me, I decided to give it a try.
Some Girls Bite is the first novel of the series and what I discovered is this author’s debut novel.
A fresh new take on vampires….they are now out of the “closet”…..it’s official….vampires have announced their existence to humans…twelve vampire houses set up in the USA….and this series tells the adventures of Chicago graduate student, Merit…yes, like Rhianna, Madonna, Pink, etc…..goes by one name only…her other names remain a mystery throughout the story….. who is attacked by a rogue vampire and lucky for her, her human life is saved by the ultra master vampire, Ethan, who is in charge of Cadogan House, situated in an upper class suburb of Chicago!!! Hey, these are rich and wealthy vampires…..and of course, the house is so totally fab… What a perfect setting…..windy, cold and dark with loads of things going bump into the night……
Merit is a normal woman, quite happy with her life as a student despite being in not good terms with her beyond rich and well-known family….
but waking up as a vampire…is so not for her… she’s not exactly thrilled being turned into a vamp…..
“I swore an oath. I’m not happy to be a vampire. It’s not the life I’d have picked. But it’s mine now, and I’ll honor that.”
but she has two choices in her new “undead” life…either become a member of Cadogan House or face being ostracized by all vampires and become a rogue…which is literally a life so not a good option……WHAT, ARE YOU CRAZY MERIT!!!! Immortality and you get to become a kick-ass, Katanga sword-wielding Sentinel with a wardrobe to die for…….
…really, I will trade places with you!!!!!! All that and I get the most gorgeous, sexy, mysterious and hot Ethan Sullivan as my master and liege!!!!
How can Merit even think twice about her new found life!!!! What can be hard about having some kind of sizzling connection to Ethan….no, this is unreal….Merit turns down becoming Ethan’s vamp lover!!!!!
“Stop. That was a mistake. It shouldn’t have happened." "No?" "No." "I could offer you more.” "What?” "Power. Access. Rewards. You’d need be available only to me.” "Are you asking me to be your mistress?” "Yes.” "Oh, my God.” "Is that a yes?” "No, Ethan, Jesus. Definitely not.”
I’m pulling my hair out….
Well, there’s no going back…Merit has to get with the “program”…..learning all about those weird vampires…
“Although security and warfare had never been my gig, vampire security was highly contextual and thus incredibly interesting. There were links to history (Vampires were screwed over yesterday!) and politics (House X screwed us over yesterday!), philosophy (Why do you think they screwed us over yesterday?) and ethics (If we didn’t bite, would they have screwed us over yesterday?), and, of course, strategy (How did they screw us over? How can we keep them from screwing us over again or, better yet, screw them over first?).”
…and no way is she going to be some wimp!!
“ “I'm just warning you, I'm probably going to be a total hard-ass vamp."
Allright, that’s good…nothing more exciting than a vamp star…. So things start “hotting” up in Chicago…a vampire kills two young women and just misses Merit..remember, she’s saved by Ethan….and the evidence left at the crime scenes point to a member of the vampire houses….and Merit, after receiving her training as a rogue vampire slayer and protector of her master and his house, goes on a tracking trip to bring the bad guys down!!!!!!
Her new life is totally filled up during the hours of darkness…yes these vampires only come out at night!...training, studying, checking out her new wardrobe that is acceptable in the vampire world…like Armani…yes Armani…ooh, these vampires have a taste for the good things in life!!!!!!..wait, let me not digress….Merit’s new life also includes lots of chats and yacks with her best friend Mallory, , yes, she has blue hair and wait for it……(view spoiler)[she’s told by a sorcerer (Merit’s trainer and soon to become Mallory’s NEW boyfriend, that she’s a witch……no!!!!! Really!! (hide spoiler)] These two BFF’S forever are very close and like talking about a lot of things….
“You’re so immature.” “Blue hair. That’s all I’m saying.” “Bite me, dead girl.” I showed fang and winked at her. “Don’t tempt me, witch.”
Mallory snorted and walked out of the kitchen, calling out, "Yeah, well, you've got a purple marshmallow on your chin, hard-ass vamp.”
An engaging fast-paced plot, filled quirky and entertaining characters, humor, drama, romantic entanglements and some witty and funny dialogue, it proved to me quite an enjoyable read.
If there is one thing that I was irritated by – Merit & Mallory felt like some 18 year olds instead of being in their late twenties…some of the things they did and said felt somewhat immature and unrealistic. But I still found them both quite appealing!!!!
My favorite scene – when Merit and her friends take Ethan to a diner and feast on hot dogs……
“Sullivan, just pick it up." "My way is more genteel." "Your way is more tight ass." "Your respect for me, Sentinel, is astounding." "I'd respect you more if you took a bite of that dog." "You don't respect me any." "Like I said, I'd respect you more. More than none.”
So, will I continue with this series??? Yes, definitely!!!!
