Kaye when it was first published in 1978 and have since read it a few times…it’s become one of my favorite books ever. This is an epic novel of Ashton Pelham-Martyn, an English officer, during the British Raj period in India, who falls in love with Anjuli, a half-caste Hindu princess.
The author’s knowledge of and childhood experiences in India make this an epic and unforgettable book.
A sweeping and gripping high adventure and passionate love story, of heroism and cruelty, bigotry and prejudice, danger and love and the most breathtaking and vivid descriptions of 19th century India, - an absolute MASTERPIECE!!!

One of the thinFantasy Lover is the 1st book in The Entire Dark-Hunterverse Series and whilst it was not one of my favorites, I did enjoy reading it.
One of the things I liked about it was the main character, Julian –son of a legendary Spartan general becoming commander of the Macedonian army.
Betrayed and angering the Greek gods, he was cursed for all eternity, trapped inside a book and released once a month to be used as a sex slave by whoever opened the said book.
Now, that doesn’t sound too bad!!!! To be used as a sex toy and you don’t even get to choose if you want to or not!!!! Hell, that does not sound good to me!!!! The poor guy is about to give up when…something or someone good comes along into his life!!!!
That someone is sex therapist, Grace Alexander,
who has gone off men forever!!!!!
After giving men a miss for a while, she is given the most outlandish present ever by her best friends…who has been worrying about Grace’s “manless” situation!!!! A Greek sex slave…who is known to be good at what he does…wink wink!!!!! How could any sane woman refuse such a present!!!!!!
So, is Grace the one who will break Julian’s curse?
Will she accept the world he lives?
I enjoyed the flashbacks to Julian’s history in ancient Greece and Rome.
This being the first book, there’s very little world building – some interesting secondary characters that will have their own books in the future.
There were some funny moments …
“Um, Dr. Alexander, there’s a couple out here who say they’re related to you. They…um…they’re biker people. (Nurse) Hey, Julian. Tell Attila the Hun here that we’re okay so we can come and ooh and aah over the babies. (Eros)” “You have the optimism of a child. (Julian) Peter Pan all the way. (Grace)”
“Cupid, you worthless bastard, I summon you to human form! (Julian) Gee, I can't imagine why he wouldn't respond to that. (Grace)”
I’m happy that I read this book….how the Dark Hunters world begins!!!!!...more
We return to the beautiful city of Venice and meet up once again with Commissario Guido Brunetti, in Donna Leon’s 4th book in the Commissario BrunettiWe return to the beautiful city of Venice and meet up once again with Commissario Guido Brunetti, in Donna Leon’s 4th book in the Commissario Brunetti Series.
A truck crashes on a mountain road in the Italian Dolomites, killing the driver and a cargo of unidentified women. A month later, a prominent local lawyer, is found murder on an intercity train in Venice.
Two incidents that seem totally unrelated until Commissario Brunetti begins investigating the murder of the lawyer, who has a clean record – something Brunetti finds hard to believe in such a corrupt city like Venice.
And when the lawyer’s brother-in-law is murdered, Brunetti digs deeper into the coincidences that link the three crimes and discovers something so horrifying and so shocking that points to the powerful and elite society being part of a ring that deals with prostitution, human trafficking and the making of snuff movies and even child pornography.
This is a dark and sad story of how powerful people see themselves above the law and see corruption as just part of their lives. Corruption continues infiltrating everything in the city and how the country’s laws are so outdated and confusing, which makes it possible for criminals to bend the rules for their benefit.
Brunetti’s frustration at the abuse of power and how justice is manipulated is something that he feels strongly about.
“Why bother to put the boy who broke into a house in jail when the man who stole billions from the health system is named ambassador to the country to which he had been sending the money for years?”
We follow the thoughts and actions of different characters in the story as well as Brunetti’s, which gives us an insight about the case.
I enjoyed seeing the special bond Brunetti has with his daughter, Chiara, who even helps him out with the case by offering to be one of his “spies”.
We also see a bit of Brunetti’s humor……..
‘How will I know you?’ Brunetti asked, hoping della Corte wouldn’t be a cop who looked like a cop. ‘I’m bald. How will I know you?’ ‘I look like a cop.’
The story is set in the 90’s and I had great fun reading about the new technology that was available at that time……Signorina Elletra, of course, is totally up to date with new items on the market…..
“I’ve had a modem installed on the Vice-Questore’s phone,” she said, pointing to a metal box that sat on the desk a few centimeters from the phone. Wires, Brunetti saw, led from the box to her computer.”
The results and conclusion of the case were frustrating and depressing.
Excellent story revolving around human trafficking and slavery which is still happening today....more

I am really into Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld Series – Her Otherworld universe just keeps getting more fascinating as new characters are introduced.
Stolen is the 2nd book in this series and continues with Elena Michaels, the only female werewolf from book 1 as the main protagonist.
The Pack is warned by Ruth, a witch and Paige, her apprentice that they and all the supernatural species are in grave danger. A secret group has been targeting and kidnapping super naturals to study and experiment on them.
As the Pack begins their investigation, Elena & Ruth are captured and taken to a secret laboratory, where other super naturals are being tortured and dissected by an evil cabal led by Ty Winsloe, a psycho billionaire and some really wacky humans – Dr Matasumi, the idiotic & crazy scientist, Colonel Tucker, the really heavy, beyond psychotic security guy and his killer dogs, Sondra Bauer, the “friendly and welcoming” admin person – another weirdo and psycho-mad human in the place….a poor little rich girl who sounds bi-polar most of the time – and shame, things do not end well for this girl……turns out she’s not too bright in the head – did she really believe that she could be taken seriously if she became someone else?????????…… and then there’s the only “sane” and somewhat kind Dr Carmichael (who I must tell you, comes to a very bad and gory end…..).
And then, there are the SUPERNATURALS!!!! Forget the werewolves……I am so much more into these fabulous, enthralling, interesting and captivating vampires, witches, shamans, half-demons, necromancers, ghosts….ooh …love them – Savannah, the young witch being trained secretly by Ruth, Xavier the double crossing vampire, Leah, who is a half-demon and double-crosser (what else can we expect from demons????),
Most of this book focuses on Elena’s captivity and what goes on in the facility – some gory and scary things….like Ty Winsloe’s human hunting safaris in the surrounding forest. This guy is so radical…….the scene just before he gets his just desserts is totally unbelievable……..are there such human beings out there like this I wondered. What amazed me was the way the plots and characters are written that makes it to real and believable when you are turning page after page, totally engrossed in this fantasy world.
I am a bit undecided about Elena – I like her and then I don’t like her. It’s the same with Clay. I haven’t connected with the werewolves totally yet. Don’t get me wrong….there are moments….and I hope we get a bit more out of Jeremy….what’s in his head, what is he feeling, thinking.
Good writing and character development and my interested never wavered and kept me reading and reading.
And ooh………can’t wait for Paige & Savannah’s story next. ...more

This is the first book I have read by Kresley Cole and I liked, well loved A Hunger Like No Other.!!!! I like her writing style a lot – fresh, easy to read, words just flowing from page to page. Love scenes are hot, hot!!!! This is the story of Lachlain, the Lykean King, who finally finds his true life mate - Emmaline, a half-vampire/valkyrie. The Prologue is absolutely amazing…..heart-stopping suspense. Lachlain escaping from the Paris catacombs where he has been held prisoner for hundreds of years by an evil Vampire makes you want to continue reading until you get to the last page….where you sigh wishing there were more pages.. Emmaline is the coolest vampire/valkyrie ever….love her style and look…..a sexy, sassy, hip and beyond gorgeous…..she’s my favorite female vampire right now!!!!! Sorry Bella!!!!!!!. How can Lachlain ever think he will be able to overcome his desire for her!!!!! No chance. He’s hooked!!! Great plot filled with many twists and turns, loads of incredible characters (believe me there are a lot of them in this book )whose interaction between each other is really quite amazing ….the sexual built-up between the H/H is scorching hot…..you think…finally they are going to do it!!...and POW!!!!…no not this time!!!!! A world filled with vampires, demons, valkyries, witches, demons, ghouls, and many others. There’s romance, action, suspense and wit that you can’t wait to turn the next page to find out what happens next. Some of the dialogue had me shrieking with laughter…..check it out…... Emma – “How old?” Lachlain – Roughly twelve hundred years.” She gasped. “Do you know what “robbing the cradle” means? I am almost seventy one. This skeeves me out!”
"Hey, Lucia," Regin called out, not even bothering to mute the phone. "Pay up, suckah, Emma got dental with some dude—"
"You can have him, kitties," she hissed for their ears only.
Christ, he couldn't do this. "How do you drink?" She mumbled, "Liquid goes into my mouth, whereby I swallow it."
Is your blouse Azzedine Alaia?" the girl showing them to their table asked Emma. She answered, "No, you could say it's very authentic vintage."
"Lachlain, have you ever heard of a Wal-Mart? No? Something like that is probably on top of your castle right now."
Was she becoming this Lykae's Patty Hearst?
"I am Lachlain. Who are you?" "I'm the foster mother who's going to annihilate you if you don't send her home right now.
Bowe raised his eyebrows, demonstrating the most emotion Lachlain had seen from him since his mate had left him. "A vampire queen? Fate must hate you." More examination while Lachlain scowled. "Her ears are pointed?"
If you want a funny, sexy, steamy, hot paranormal romance, then go and get the book right now!!!! I promise you will enjoy the ride!!!!! I finished reading this book in two days….and immediately tried to get the next in the series……unlucky me ….haven’t managed to find a copy…but will keep on trying…..cause I am now a KC fan and want to read the whole series. ...more
