HomeI love Christine Skye’s Draycott Abbey Series and have read all the books. There is something so magical about Draycott Abbey, so unforgettable. Home to the Draycott family for hundreds of years, it has been watched over by the ghost of Adrian, one of the Draycott ancestors and Gideon, his companion who just happens to be a fabulous, clever ghostly cat. They will do anything to protect the abbey and the people they love and have loved – I love the interaction between the two….it’s really amazing.
This is the first book in this series (although there are 2 novellas written previously about Draycott Abbey…more about those later). Michael Burke, a dark, handsome and passionate ex-Royal Marine has come to Draycott Abbey to expose a conspiracy and there he meets Kelly Hamilton, a beautiful archeologist, who has been gifted with second sight and who is searching for an urn of historical and priceless value. Both feel an incredible attraction, which they try to deny at first but soon they begin to realize that they cannot stop the strong and deep feelings they have. It’s as if they both knew each other before. From the moment she arrives at Draycott Abbey, Kelly is consumed by flashes of a past she feels she is part of and begins thinking that she may be losing her sanity. Danger, deceit and betrayal, evil men who will do anything to destroy Kelly and Michael as they did centuries ago with Aslin and Lyon – there are two stories which tie in with each other. Two soul mates who had lost each other centuries ago finally being together again.
Such powerful writing…..immerses you totally in the story that one is unable to stop reading.
I have read the entire series dozens of times and each time I take a trip to Draycott Abbey and let the magic take over. Christina Skye – you rock!!!!!! ...more

II just could not get into this book....I gave up halfway through the first time and after reading all the reviews, decided to give it another go!!! I couldn't connect with the characters. I skimmed over the pages and own up that I read the last chapter hoping that it would make me go back and read the entire book...but it did not make me want to start again.
I have put this book back on my To Be Read Later Bookcase.

Strangers pulls you in from the first page and never lets you go. What are the chances of two strangers from completely different backgrounds being in the same place, at the same time and with the same intentions? Two flawed, dysfunctional characters that were meant to meet to find their redemption and finally moved on with their lives and find true happiness together.
Loved the story line – regular girl meets famous rock star/movie star, lots of issues to overcome and of course, in the end, find true happiness together. But there’s so much more to this story.
Kate Snow is just an ordinary girl who has given up on life and sees no hope in continuing living. Charlie Storm is a superstar with a bad attitude, a rock star, movie star and everyone wants a piece of him. His life is in chaos, despair and loneliness assail him and he feels that he no longer wants to live.
I LOVE THEIR NAMES!!!!
What were the chances of them picking the same spot to disappear? All that water and they ended up in the same place? You feel the sparks between them, the chemistry and the connection from the start.
The characterization and dialogue did it for me. Believable characters that you care for, witty and humorous dialogue even in those dark moments that lift you up.
The first time these two heartbroken and damaged people meet is filled with such sadness but then we realize that something important is about to happen.
These are just some of the quotes I loved when they meet on that fateful day on the beach.
"So you're not a hippo," she said. "What?" Charlie looked back at her face. "I've spent the last couple of hours with your head and shoulders. I wondered what the rest of you was like. Fat, thin, tail, flippers?" "I thought you were a sexy mermaid and you thought I was fat hippo?"
“I don’t see the point in anything, … I don’t feel part of the world. No one needs me or wants me or even likes me very much. I don’t like myself. The world will keep turning without me. I’ll be no great loss. I’m just a temporary misuse of a minute amount of carbon.”
Kate takes Charlie home with her – wow…some kind of place…no furniture except a bed!!!!, where they spend the next week getting to know each other. What follows is sweet and funny and it is clearly obvious that they are kindred spirits. Charlie is enchanted – Kate is well, amazing and fabulous Kate. And wow what a blast we get as they start discovering each other!!!!
Kate opened her eyes the next morning to find Charlie looking at her. She gave him a lazy smile. "I love you," he said. Kate gulped, wide awake. "I've been waiting for you to wake up so I could tell you. I should have said it before. Properly. I. Love. You." He punctuated each word with a kiss.
“Kate, I need to use the toilet,” he called through the door. “You’ve just had hours in the sea. Couldn’t you have gone then?” “Mum told me to get out of the water first.” “What, even the ocean?” “It’s wrong to pollute.” He tried to sound serious.
"You're not supposed to tell the fifth-sexiest man in the UK, he's got a spot." "Who voted? Senior citizens?" "I really want to fuck you." He growled in his throat. "I really want to be in Hawaii, but we don't always get what we want."
"I'm not buying you cigarettes or booze." He glared at her. "You fucking cow." "You don't need them," Kate said. "Yeah, I do," Charlie snapped. I want a line or two of coke as well, to cheer me up." "You've got a fucking cow, what more do you need?"
The feelings you have for these characters – you feel their pain, laugh with them, cry with them, hope for their happiness. There are loads of secondary characters that are beyond quirky, dark, devious and funny.
What follows after Kate and Charlie finally surface into the real world is a journey filled with many obstacles and it’s certainly a rocky road before reaching the “golden” path. But oh so many memorable moments. The one I remember so clearly – Charlie invites Kate to a nightclub but when she arrives, he totally ignores her (there’s a really idiotic reason he does that…) and she is now thrust into a world she knows nothing about, with vacuous, empty headed, hedonistic people who she has no clue or interest in who they are. She’s in the hottest club dressed in jeans and flip flops surrounded by designer clad models and when some unknown film director asks her some question about her being in movies….gives you some idea of how hollow that world is…
"You've also not helped things by mentioning Crispies because no one knows it's a restaurant. They all think it's some hardcore porno movie." "I know." Kate sighed. "I'm beginning to believe it myself. I've even been offered a part in Crispies Two."
This was one of those books I couldn't put down…having to go on Kate & Charlies journey of letting go of their baggage, learning to trust and love again and finally getting to the happy ending I so wanted and wished for them. The two will remain with me for a very very long time.
OH YES…..the words GOODBYE & HELLO - I will always remember those!!!!

Branded for Trouble, the 6th book gives us Colt McKay and India Ellison, who were introduced in previous books….. and what a fun and fabulous read.
India Ellison is not your average “cowgirl”…an artist who owns a tattoo shop in the local town, with blue dyed hair, tattooed and pierced – she rides a bike and happens to be Colt’s AA sponsor.
Colt McKay, gorgeous, sexy and the black sheep of the family, has been clean for three years after spending a few years in a haze of drugs and alcohol.
Best friends, both trying to deal with their addictions and the attraction they feel for each other which has grown from the friendship.
These two are such a cute, funny and lovable couple. Hot sexual tension….Their interaction and growing feelings are a real treat to see………..Colt realizes he wants to get India into his bed…and what a luck….even if it means some pain for him….yes, India shot him in his ass with one of her tattoo guns…and him now recuperating in her home is the perfect opportunity to get her “nekkid””….
and there’s a lot of that going on in this story………..what a cowboy!!!!
Lots of family politics, with appearances of characters from previous books…Cam McKay, war hero who has the hots for Domini Katzinski, Skylar and Kade and their adorable kids and my ultimate favorite trio/couple, Trevor, Edgard & Chassie Glanzer …waiting for their baby to arrive….love seeing how their lives have progressed together.
A fantastic and such a lovely ending to Colt & India’s story…..
I am so looking forward to continuing this series. ...more

I usually don’t like reading about English heroes….prefer the Greek, Italian, French and South American guys but I have to admit I was blown over by Kit. So much more than your average English wimpy lords and dukes….he is gorgeous, strong, brooding, sexy (I mean the chocolate spread love scene made me swoon!!!)….what more can I say about this man?????? Sophie – wow this is my kind of woman…..gorgeous, sexy, flirty, funny, caring and has a great sense of style!!!!! She has brought the light into Kit’s dark and cold life. At the end of the first book where they finally discover their love for each other was really fabulous and this story continues from where they now are living in London together and Kit is on a secret mission for the army.
Lots of heartache here for both. She can’t understand why he is so aloof and at times so cold towards her, not sharing conversation but only great sex. He is worried about one of his men who was seriously injured during the mission he was in charge of. Adding to his mental anguish is the fact that he thinks he may have inherited a degenerate disease from his dead father. And then he hears from his mother who had abandoned him when he was a little boy, wanting to meet him again. Sophie persuades him to go to Morocco to finally have all the answers about his mother and real father. More secrets are revealed.
Loved the scenes in Morocco…..first meeting with his mother where Sophie shows such an amazing capacity of compassion and kindness towards him and his mother. And the scene in the souk…….so so so AWESOME……I could almost imagine I was watching a barefoot Sophie being fed morocco delicacies by Kit….of course I stepped away when he took her back to the hotel!!!!!!!!
The wedding scene is a total BLAST!!!! I loved Sophie’s mother, the bus, the wedding dress….well I loved it all. These two books are up there on my list of my ALL TIME FAVOURITES!!!!
Can’t wait for India Grey’s next book!!!!! ...more

Sins of the Night is definitely one of “the did not like it as much as the others” list. Not there were some things I did like about it but overall I was just not blown away by the story of Alexion (look the guy sounds pretty gorgeous…except that he’s some kind of shadow without a body…but lose that white coat….that really threw me….ugh…white coat…bad enough on a woman but on a man!!!!!) , Acheron’s (my most loved character in this series) right-hand man and protector, who is sent to earth to sort out the problem of the Mississippi Dark Hunters, where Stryker (Acheron’s evil arch enemy is stirring them up to revolt against Acheron, which could result in the end of the world!!! Alexion’s assignment is to determine which of the Dark Hunters are guilty or not and to be the jury and execute the betrayers…he’s the angel of death. He meets up with Dangereus St Richards (I personally hated her name!!!), the first female Dark Hunter in the series, who cannot make up her mind to join the rebels or stay with Acheron. She quickly stays on the RIGHT side ….since she’s now totally besotted…sorry..in love with the “right side” Alexion that is!!!! I just could not engage with this character….French Revolution, aristocratic….even French words thrown in didn’t make me think she was even a tiny bit French!!!!!!
There’s a lot of action, fighting with some Dark Hunters being killed….the betrayers I mentioned above are given no second chance!!!! We meet one of two new characters which I am sure will appear in future books, but none of them really stood out for me.
By my comments so far, one would imagine that I hated reading this story!!!! Well, no. Not hated exactly….there were a few things I loved…..and here they are:
-the interaction between Acheron, Alexion (oh forgot…he’s real name is Ias) and Simi….my most most loved demon of all the paranormal series and books……it’s witty, sweet and so lovable. -the scenes with Simi as the protector of the baby and Danger…fabulous…love the way she talks about Artemis…… -Acheron…..every word I read in all the books about him I love. He’s just the most amazing guy….so much feeling, depth, dark secrets…..i just wanted him to find his own true love (which I know he does because if you have read Acheron, then u will know that!!!!)
As I neared the last pages, I must admit I that Alexion and Danger had slowly grown on me and wished that this would be their HEA……shock…….yes they do but I hated the way it was made possible. A ghost, someone who was now bodiless……I wanted it to be a more happy ending…but hey they did find each other and live happily together for all eternity.
All in all it was a pleasant read, just one that didn’t grab me as much as some of the other books have done. ...more

So when I saw Secrets of Bella Terra at my local bookshop, I bought it without even reading the blurb on the back cover.
I realized afterwards that this book is the first of the Scarlet Deception Series so I was happy I was going to read the series from the beginning and also I absolutely love reading family sagas.
By chapter 3 I wasn’t sure if I liked the book…..slow start but I was soon engrossed in the plot and characters and the gorgeous settings. Rafe di Luca, sexy, gorgeous and bad body is the brother who broke from the family tradition of continuing the di Luca dynasty in the California vineyards and Brooke Petersson, who has been close to the family since her schooldays. The two had been friends and then lovers but Rafe had broken her heart when he disappeared after she had refused to follow him on his world travels. Sarah, Rafe’s grandmother is attacked in her home and he returns to Bella Valley to be with her and to solve the mystery of her attack. Brooke is at first not too happy about his return even though she has never stopped loving him despite the shabby way he had treated her before. Rafe is unable to keep away from her and he realizes he still has deep feelings for her and fights his desire to stay in Bella Valley with Brooke.
I love the di Luca’s family dynamism…the relationship between the 3 brothers– Rafe, Noah and Eli is really fabulous….love the interaction and dialogue between them. Also the love they have for their grandmother. I also adored Rafe’s mother….Francesca the ultimate Italian movie goddess, multiple marriages…..her scenes are so funny and touching….Rafe’s love for her shows in the way he handles her. The big mystery is about a very special, rare and valuable bottle of wine which had been given to the di Luca family over 50 years ago and which the rival winemaker Bianchi family feel should belong to them and are determined by whatever ways and means to get the bottle, which has been hidden and no one has any idea where.
I must admit I was a bit disappointed when the mystery of the murders and attacks and vandalism was revealed. I couldn’t quite believe that person was capable of being behind such an organized plot…..having said that I enjoyed the scene when the whole plot is discovered by Brooke!!! But the love scenes between Rafe and Brooke quickly made up for this. Wow….talk about a hot, sexy, hot, gorgeous man who knows how to get his woman turned on!!!!! Emotional, sensual, sexy, hot, steamy…..the scene in the shower!!!!! Whewwwww…..I stopped breathing for a while.
Finally what else can I add????? I will definitely read the next book in the trilogy and more of this author’s books. I like her easy and fresh writing style. ...more

I enjoyed it more than Defending His Own, which I struggled to finish. Sam Dundee is gorgeous, strong alpha male who does not do emotion and love. His life had been saved six years ago by Jeannie Alverson, an empath (who takes the pain away from others into her body!!!) and who has never forgotten him. When her life is being threatened by a crazy leader of a cult, she contacts Sam asking for his help. Of course he comes to her rescue!!!! How can he not when she had saved his life!!!! There are a lot of twists and turns in the story and loads of characters….at times some of the things seem really not plausible…but hey this is a romance novel after all!!!! What I liked as well is how the author wrote about the heroine being handicapped….it’s really well written. You never feel sorry for her….Jeannie is a warm, loving, caring and strong and she’s prepared to face the obstacles in her life with such an amazing attitude. This is such a sweet, warm story….even though this is a reissue of the book which was originally written in 1995, it hasn’t dated that much.
Book Blurb: For six years, Jeannie Alverson had thought about Sam Dundee's haunting blue eyes, his warm touch. His was the face she saw in her dreams. He was the man she never expected to see again. But now he had returned…to protect her. Sam couldn't turn his back on Jeannie. Once she had saved his life, and now she needed him. He vowed to guard her against all danger, but who would protect him from the innocence and love shining in her eyes? ...more

I then started reading De I can’t make up my mind if I like this author’s books. The first book of hers I read was Killing Her Softly which I enjoyed. I then started reading Dead by Morning which I am struggling to finish….more about that when I get to the last page and then I will do a full review. Decided to switch to The Protectors which I thought was a full length novel. Imagine my surprise to discover it’s a Mills & Boon special (I wasn’t ever aware she had been a Silhouette writer!!!! – not that I have some favorite authors who have written for them!!!!), that includes 2 stories – this time I did not give up, thought it did take a bit of time for me to get to the end. What I like and didn’t like about the 1st story – Defending His Own.
1 This book was first released in 1995 by Silhouette and at times it found some things a bit outdated….like the hero using his “cellular” fone 2 Sweet story of a plain teenager, Deborah Vaughn who has a crush on the local bad boy, Ashe McLaughlin. She loses her virginity to him, he is chased out of town by her rich father, she is left pregnant, she doesn’t tell him……the usual secret baby story 3 After 10 years Ashe is asked by her mother to protect Deborah who is a witness to a murder and is being threatened with her life 4 Misunderstandings, secrets abound…..he believes that Deborah betrayed him when he was forced to leave his hometown and family. She hates him because he told her he didn’t love her and did not want to tell him that he had a son (which by the way is passed off as her brother…..talk about complications!!!) because of her father’s decision of either her giving up the baby for adoption or passing it off has her mother’s son…… boy that scenario would never work these days!!!!!!! 5 I liked the son, Allen…..what a sassy and charming character….my favorite….also Deborah’s mom…in fact there are quite a few interesting characters in the story….Ashe’s grandmother, his cousin….too many characters to include here 6 Some of the dialogue was a bit “old” and how many times did Ashe have to use the word ‘honey”!!!! 7 A few twists in the story but they never really grabbed me 8 I liked Deborah….she’s an interesting heroine….strong, loyal, loving and an amazing sense of responsibility to her entire family….really, she owns a company that keeps not only her mother and son but her awful, lazy, wastrel cousin Whitney 9 Apart from the constant “honey, honey” I grew to like Ashe 10 Of course there is a HEA and enjoyed the epilogue….knowing that the whole family finds love and happiness together
PS…I could not find the cover of the edition I have…..I wonder why?????
Would I read another book by this author???? Yes, they remind me a bit of the older Mills & Boon novels I read in the past. I am now determined to read more of her books in the different series that she has written. ...more
