The first one, Black Swan Affair was not one of my favourites, so I was hoping that this one would surprise me.
Surprised me it did...in such a good good way!!
We all have one. A price. That magic number that will get us to agree to do anything, be anything. Don’t sit on your gold-plated high horse and say you don’t because you do. Everyone does. Each of us has something we covet enough that we’d sell ourselves to have it.
Shaw Mercer, Seattle billionaire playboy needs a temporary girlfriend to keep the paparazzi in line during his father's election as the city's mayor.
“Shaw’s presence is commanding, absolute. A force to be reckoned with. So, I expect him to claim, own, invade. But he doesn’t. He takes his time, imprinting me instead. Slowly branding me as promised, drawing my top lip in between his before doing the same to the bottom.”
Willow Blackwell, beautiful, smart, working two jobs to pay her mothers' medical bills. Her day job is a narrator of romance audio books (I loved that) and her other job is an escort/companion to rich men.....
“We look pretty, we adorn our clients, we dote, we mingle, we act the part we’re given, and we go home at the end of the ‘date’ a few hundred or thousand dollars richer, with our legs shut and our pride intact.”
What I liked about this book
* The two main characters. Shaw Mercer is without a doubt an alpha-male but he has a softness and kindness that shines out in the way he interacts with his family, friends and Willow. He's sexy, hot and totally interesting.
I adored Willow. There's a lot of secrets she keeps back. I found her endearing and very likeable. Her kindness and understanding truly shines out of her.
* The chemistry between Shaw and Willow - I thought the build-up was done very well....as was the development of their relationship.
* Great dialogue - witty, real and some really hot and dirty talk between the two main characters.
* Fantastic secondary characters. Liked the family dynamics and am most interest in finding out more about Noah and Sierra.
* The story is told in dual POV - Shaw and Willow's which gives you a good insight into their heads and their feelings.
* The twist at the end that leaves you with a cliff-hanger of note.
This was such a great book and I can't wait for the next book to discover more about Willow and where she and Shaw go from here.
My favourite quote:
‘It takes a special girl to open a boy’s eyes to what’s right in front of him, Willow. But when he realizes it, he’ll fight to the death for her and only her. Don’t settle until you find that man.’...more

Briefly...we have Maverick, who's been in love with Killian for yonks. She's also best friends with his brother Kael. KIllian drops Maverick and marries her sister, Jillian!! Maverick, who's still in love with Killian marries his brother, Kael, who has been in love with her for yonks!!!!
Talk about a confusion...you're confused.....
........... let me take a moment here........all that nonsense of Maverick wondering why why did Killian drop me!!!! Oh, I'm better off without him!!!! And that has all hot sex with Kael whilst thinking of Killian!!! Are you kidding me!!!!And secrets....and more secrets...........I just couldn't be bothered with finding out what they were.....in fact, I found myself doing a lot of this as I turned the pages..........skimming and skipping........and not exactly happy skipping moments..........
And then all that back and forwards between the different times and the different POV's of the characters......the worst being Kael......I cannot believe that he loved such a selfish and idiotic and self-cantered person like Mavs!!!!! Get a life Kael...please!!
I gave up eventually.......after nearly pulling off most of my hair!!
When the huge secret is revealed.........I couldn't give a toss..........but if you do, then read the book yourself!!!...more
After reading the last book by this author, Dirty Promises, which was the only one I have totally disliked by Karina Halle, I had extremely high hopesAfter reading the last book by this author, Dirty Promises, which was the only one I have totally disliked by Karina Halle, I had extremely high hopes for Black Hearts, which is part of a duet and a spinoff of the other 3 Trilogies.
Well, to be honest - I more than disliked this book!!!!
I'm going to keep this short......why did I hate it!!
The main characters:
Vincent Bernal: Javier Bernal's son. What a horrible creature. So, his life has been pretty so not amazing.....living as the son of a drug cartel boss has certainly not been easy! But seriously...is that reason enough for his cruelty, deviousness and disregard for human life! Did he not learn anything good from his mother and father??? Well, certainly not!! He kills the two men who his father sent to keep an eye on him in San Francisco, without batting an eyelid!! The lack of respect and the violence he displays towards Violet, the heroine's mother, is absolutely unacceptable. He has no compunction of lying, cheating and deceiving people.
Violet McQueen: Ellie and Camden's daughter. Okay, she has reason to be angry at her parents for lying about their past but is it right for her to behave the way she does in retaliation. Forget the love they have shown her all her life...suddenly, she meets this guy and he becomes more important than her family??? She allows him to turn her against the very people who love her!!!
The Plot: I found the story a bit too unbelievable!!!! I also could not believe that Violet, who is supposedly innocent and sheltered, suddenly allows a man she meets a day or two before, to blindfold, tie her and photograph her nude!!!! Really!!!! And please...............Javier is still holding a grudge against Ellie for choosing Camden over him.........20 years ago!!!! Get a life!!! I really hated Javier in this story!! And his wife, Luiza......where is the gutsy woman I first met in Dirty Angels!!!
Okay, so I will probably read the next book, Dirty Souls, because I want to know where the author takes the story to............but honestly, I am just hoping that I am going to be pleasantly surprised by the story!!!
PS.........I know I am in the minority here about this book!!! So, let me just add.........it's me!!! I didn't get it...but don't let me stop you from making up your own mind to read it or not!!
But let me say.........do it at your own PERIL!!!!

I loved the two main characters......especially Max King...he's hot, sexy, rich, smart and a fabulous single dad........
No way could Harper Jayne ever resist him for long!!!! The chemistry between these two is sizzling hot, sexual tension abounded and I loved watching them fall for each other!!
Fabulous secondary characters - quirky, engaging and totally unforgettable!!
What I most enjoyed about this story was ........none of that dark and angst drama........it was a sweet and endearing love story with a great epilogue.
Louise Bay.............you're my new Queen of Romance.....
If you love romance, great characters and a HEA................this is one book I can so recommend.
I am definitely going to be reading more from this author and I can't wait for Grace, Harper's BFF's book, which I am going to start right away!!!...more

I haven't read the 1st and I don't think I will in the future...firstly, it's about desert sheiks....which I've gone off...and also the reviews haven't been that great!!
I didn't feel the need to read book 1 and this book can be read as a standalone quite well.
So this is Henri Sauveterre's story. He's been in a relationship with Cinnia Whitley for two years and both enjoy the time they spend together...........he has been honest with her from the start...that he will never marry and she agrees to that stipulation.
But she wants more from their relationship and when he tells her that he cannot expect anything from him, she ends their affair.
Cinnia discovers she's pregnant with twins and is trying to find a way to tell Henri about it - she knows that he does not want to have any children ever after what happened to his sister.
I fell in love with these two characters. I adored the interaction between the two with some really witty dialogue.
The secondary characters were just as engaging. I am looking forward to Ramon and Isadora's story and also curious to know more about the other Sauveterre sister, Trella.
The story line is unique and fresh and I really liked it.
Dani Collins writing style makes it for easy reading. Her characters are always likeable and relatable.

Wild Fire is the 3rd book in Ann Stuart's Fire Series (which is a spin-off from her Ice Series)
To be honest, this series has been a bit of a letdownWild Fire is the 3rd book in Ann Stuart's Fire Series (which is a spin-off from her Ice Series)
To be honest, this series has been a bit of a letdown - the Ice was such an amazing series and I was expecting the spin-off to be just as good.....but it isn't.
The story revolves around a young Committee (that very secret spy company!!!) who goes rogue on her first mission....yes, the poor girl falls in love with the bad guy, who she was suppose to kill off but instead marries him. She should have been wiser because her now very bad husband has done some really bad things to her!!
I liked the premise of the story and I was looking forward to an exciting and fast moving plot...but oh no!!!! For the first 100 pages or more, it was more than something like this.........
Thing speeded up in the last part of the book....but at times I had a bit of "roll my eyes" moments....
............. these spies sure do the most unbelievable things ever!!!!
I did like the main characters...Sophie was quite a pleasant surprise! And Malcolm..wow, Anne Stuart sure knows how to write hot and sexy alpha males!!
So, I liked Wild Fire...........just didn't love it!!!

By now you should have read all the synopsis and cover blurbs out there..so let me just get to the point/s on why this book made such an impression on me.
→The CoverAbsolutely stunning! It was one of the things that drew me in. Beautifully photographed, moody with a sense of mystery.
→The Story LineA great cover blurb/synopsis, which delivers on all levels. Original. Dark. Twisted. Sensual. Gripping. Suspenseful. Mysterious. Sweet. Erotic. Tender. Unpredictable............ You just never see what's coming next....The more pages you turn, the more questions you are left with!!!
→The Main CharactersComplex. Well-developed. Tortured. Flawed. Angst-ridden. Elle (Noelle) Charlston I liked her character. Wise and innocent.....protected and protective. How one night changed her life forever.............. Penn Everett Okay, so I kind of guessed who he actually was!!!! Hell, this guy has a lot of issues!! I loved how the author managed to write a character like him - angst-ridden, secretive, uber controlling, devious.....and despite wanting to hate him...I somehow didn't. There was some kind of inner goodness, for a better word, in him that kept shining out of him.
Penn's whole attitude and behaviour should have sent Elle running.......okay, so she did try!!!!
Just that there was that "combustible chemistry between the two.................totally irresistible...........
→The Secondary CharactersAmazing. There are a lot of them that are slowly developed but they never seem to take over each other..........and........... How cool are the characters names!!!!! Penn Everett!!! Arnie Twigg!!! Stewie & Gio Steele!! Fleur!!! And OMG....my favourite character in this book...........SAGE (Elle's cat)......Elle taking a walk through her store with Sage..........Visualize something like this
→The WritingBeautiful prose. Great flow of words.
"He stole my heart with his lies. He'll destroy it with his truth."
→The Setting NYC........
→Favorite Quote“Thieves can become saints. Saints can become thieves. Most of us deserve a second chance.”
wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I liked the synopsis and also the good reviews I read by some of my GR friends....and of course, not forwasn't sure what to expect from this book but I liked the synopsis and also the good reviews I read by some of my GR friends....and of course, not forgetting that I love this author....
Love, Chloe is totally different from the other two books that I loved, Hollywood Dirt and Sex, Love, Repeat.
This was such a fun read. It had some great characters, fabulous setting...I mean...NYC...my all time favourite place to visit....and we get a peep into the world and lives of the rich and famous...what more could I ask for!!!
So, this is the story of Chloe Madison, a totally engaging character that kind of grew on me.......
In a nutshell - Chloe is having a terrible time in her life.......her parents are crooks, their assets and money frozen....leaving poor Chloe homeless and moneyless
"…the easy wealth I’d enjoyed my whole, pampered life ended faster than a Taylor Swift relationship. Our accounts were frozen, cars taken, assets seized. Including my NYC apartment."
..but wait, not all is lost...she still gets to keep her designer clothes and her JImmy Choo's!!!
No money to pay for her college tuition, to rent an apartment...she's left to take a job as a administrative assistant/dog walker and sleeping in her friend's couch.
What I admired about Chloe was her resilience....she didn't wallow in self-pity or feeling sorry for herself....she dusts herself down and moves on with getting her life...well, her new life together.
"…Maybe the cultured, confident woman I was before was just a product of my parents’ money. Maybe now, with my new life a train wreck, I would discover the real Chloe Madison. And maybe, I wouldn’t like her. "
It's a story about friendship....
"…And I really expected, in the dark parts of my soul, for them to leave me over this. For our friendship to wither away into nothing, our common ground lost. Instead, they rallied—feeding me, housing me, and distracting me in times of struggle.
They had been better friends than I deserved, our friendship turning a corner, becoming deeper through all this. I hoped, one day, I would be able to return the favour. At the very least, to become a better friend.
.. I loved the way the author used copies of instagram on top of some of the chapters...
Romance........hell, Chloe has some problems in this area....her ex...who just happens to be a zillionaire is determined to get her back...she gave him the kick when she found him canoodling some women...but old Vic is persistent!!! He goes out on all stops...delivers a Maserati to her new apartment (more about that later!), gives her a $20,000 Birkin bag, Tiffany diamond earrings......and you would think...she's going to go right back to him...after all, she can have her life of luxury back..right!!!
Wrong............she wants nothing to do with him..well, she kind of gives in once or twice...but then, she finds Carter, her apartment super...a beyond hot and sexy male...filling her head with some hot thoughts!!! Seriously, men........
It takes a while for Chloe to make a decision....of course, the right one!!!
There are some brilliant secondary characters that are well-blended into the story......like Chloe's bff's Cammie and Benta (how are these names!!!)Joey, the movie star, Nicole, her boss........and the most brilliant of them all..............
Chanel is Nicole's "baby" and Chloe's main function is to be her nanny. The scenes with this pooch as hysterical........from the first moment we're introduced...Chanel has her own bedroom and her own bed and Chloe's first job is to wait for her to wake up from her nap and then make sure precious Chanel is kept happy at all times...... Chloe has a wardrobe to die for....she's a catwalk model in demand for fashion shows....My best scene with Chanel has to be her birthday party.............I was shrieking with laughter, tears in my eyes...........
It's worth reading this book just for that scene!!!
Great dialogue...and I loved Chloe's inner monologues!!! Brilliant!!
Humorous, entertaining, witty, funny, sweet, sexy and actually quite refreshing.
Hey, did I mention that I think this story would make a fab movie!!!!

I didn't enjoy the story line. I didn't connect with the any of the characters. The main characters...Lucy Williams was a total pain........here's this woman supposedly with an high IQ...an high achiever....and she let's everyone walk over her...her ex, her mother, her everyone...
The hero, Jace Exley...he just bored me to death...........I found nothing exciting or sexy about him!!!
By the time I reached 60% of the story....I needed to stop right there and then...........because really.....this was so true........a den of idiots out there

Denial is the 1st book in Lisa Renee Jones, Careless Whispers Series, which is a spinoff from her Inside Out Series, which I haven't read yet.
A beautiful American woman wakes up in a hospital bed in Rome, Italy with no idea of who she is, to find the most-beautiful-man-in-the-world , who turns out to be the person who saved her from a street mugging.
Makes it better being saved by beautiful said man/....right!!
She doesn't trust him but there's no one else to help her....so she goes off with him to his fabulous Rome palace.....yes, a palace!!
Now, in this palace live the most unbelievable characters...
Yes, the beautiful man, Kayden Wilkens, turns out to be the head of a secret underground group, named the Underground...he's the leader of treasure hunters!!
Yes, truly!! Yes, seriously!!!
Not sure exactly what they do!!!! Right, back to the palace inhabitants....there's the housekeeper....sweet and a busybody....another treasure hunter and his demented sister....that's just the beginning...oh yes, lest I forget...there's also an OTT Italian policeman that is out to get the beautiful man aka Kayden Wilkens...and no he's not Italian, he's an American living in Italy!
The main character, Ella Ferguson drove me up the bend with her behaviour!!!
I actually questioned why the hero became so so infatuated with someone like her!!!!
What!!!! Does it sound confusing??? Well, I felt something like this by the time I reached half-way thru the story...
I can't explain why I didn't love this story!!! Why it didn't work for me!!! Perhaps I had a problem with the plot........it seemed so far-fetched and unbelievable...and even more so...the characters - I couldn't relate to them.
Now, I'm a sucker for punishment!!! If I wasn't thinking clearly, I would say...no, I am not continuing reading this series...but then...hello, hello......we get to the last page......AND..........
Yes, that cliffhanger........which leaves me wanting to find out what happens next......and who knows...it may be a better book next!!
Here's hoping so!!
PS...These are my personal feelings and I am not saying that it's a horrible book....just that it didn't quite make it for me....more
If you liked Idol, book #1 in Kristen Callihan's Rockstar Series...you're are going to LOVE LOVE the 2My heart and head...........are DANCING!!!!!!!
If you liked Idol, book #1 in Kristen Callihan's Rockstar Series...you're are going to LOVE LOVE the 2nd book, MANAGED. I AM OVER THE MOON........it's Gabriel Scott, the band's manager, who gets his very own book!!! I was absolutely ...hell, let me think what I felt meeting him from the 1st moment...
I flipping LOVED Gabriel Scott & Sophie Darling - is that a fabulicious name or not!!!! The perfect pair! The total opposites! That was made their chemistry off the charts!!! Right from the very beginning when they meet on the plane that is taking Sophie for a job interview and him to sort out some band matter in London.
Sophie's life is about to change - firstly by being upgraded to first class - does she feel lucky...but her elation soon fizzles..just a tiny bit...when she overhears some guy complaining about her being in his seat..but wait his seat is next to hers...but he maintains he paid for two seats..what the hell does he need 2 seats for!! He certainly does have a body of two!!! Who does he think he is??? And then her vision is filled with the most amazing male specimen.......WOW....this guy is hot!!!
I found Sophie to be endearing and blimy.....engaging!!! Sassy. Spunky. Her wit and zest for life is bloody infections....
The first chapters which are set on the flight to London are an FRICKING treat! The dialogue is out of this world....
“ “Oh, I bet you’d find that marvellous; all of us helpless women just smiling and nodding. Though I’m afraid it would never work on me.” “Of course not,” he deadpans. “I’m stuck next to the one afflicted with an apparently incurable case of verbal diarrhoea.” “Says the man who is socially constipated.”
“ “Oh, I bet you’d find that marvelous; all of us helpless women just smiling and nodding. Though I’m afraid it would never work on me.” “Of course not,” he deadpans. “I’m stuck next to the one afflicted with an apparently incurable case of verbal diarrhoea.” “Says the man who is socially constipated.”
Sunshine aka Gabriel and Chatty Girl aka Sophie are on a roll and neither is prepared to give in inch, when it's discovered that a) Sophie's interview is for a job with Kill John and b) Gabriel is the band's manager!!! What a pickle!!!
Sophie gets the job...ooh I want her job!!! Taking care of the band's media profile!!! My kind of job and I get to see Gabriel every day! Hell, Sophie...you are a lucky girl!!
The attraction is total mutual....Gabriel suggests that they become friends "with benefits"......
“You’ve told me repeatedly now that you find me blindingly attractive.” “That doesn’t mean I like you. Besides, your brand of pretty is like a weapon. You reel victims in with it, just like a vampire does. I wouldn’t be surprised if you sparkle in the sun.” “I cannot believe I’m arguing with a woman who references Twilight.” “The fact that you know I’m referencing Twilight betrays you as a secret Edward-loving fanboy.” His snort is loud and scathing. “Team Jacob all the way.” I can’t help it, my eyes fly open, and I lift a corner of my mask to glare at him. “That’s it. We can never be friends.”
Don't u just love the Twilight connection??? Sophie Darling unique and beyond refreshing!!
But, really would anyone be able to resist this kind of man wanting to do things to and with you???
Not me and certainly not Sophie!! Giving in....of course she does!!! And that is not a spoiler...really!!! It's a given that these two will definitely get together......despite their back and forward denials...
“Jesus,” I blurt out, lifting my hand as if to shield my eyes. “It’s like looking into the sun.” “What?” he snaps, those laser-bright eyes narrowing. Oh, this will be fun. “Just stop, will you?” I squint at him. “You’re too hot. It’s too much to take.” This is true, though I’d never have the guts to say so in normal circumstances. “Are you quite well?” he intones, as if he thinks the opposite. “No, you’ve nearly rendered me blind.” I flap a hand. “Do you have an off switch? Maybe put it on low?”
These two bring out the best in each other. But before they can continue, both will have to deal with the secrets they both are keeping from each other.........
I loved meeting up with the band members from Idol.....their banter - witty and so much fun - and connection between each other is pretty awesome:
“What did I say about speculating?” I warn. “One more word and I’ll have you all doing a music video with synchronized dancing faster than you can say Backstreet Boys.” Whip lifts up a hand. “Okay, geesh. Got it. You two are an impenetrable wall that no one shall gaze upon. No need to go all Simon Cowell on us.” “Is he drunk?” Whip asks with some concern. “Naw,” Killian drawls. “All I see are empty water bottles.” “Drowning his sorrows in bottled water. At least he’s not cliché,” Rye murmurs before sitting next to me.”
This was an incredible and fabulous reading experience.
Loved the epilogue!!! And can't wait for the next book in this series. If you love a love story filled with romance, with unforgettable characters and following the lives of rockstars...this is a series for you!!
I can't recommend reading the series enough!!
And yes....when I turned over to the page.....THE END...........I was still dancing!!!

Allright, we are now at book #13 in Christine Feehan's GhostWalkers Series with her latest, Power Game. You probably wondering my confused "look"........let me explain!!!
This series started off with soldiers that were enhanced with super powers, then progressed to enhancements mixing human DNA with animal DNA....and young girls who were used as experiments by the madman scientist, Peter Whitney....we now have human DNA mixed with spiders/snakes....and now, the heroine, Bellisia with octopus DNA!!! Hell, what next!!!
So, Bellisia aka Bella and Ezekiel aka Zeke's story is a bit better than the last few books I have read by CF.
What made it work for me:
Bella.....I like her....she was such an engaging and lovable character....wanting to find love in her life!! Her interactions between the GhostWalkers was really endearing......the family vibe was great - and the scenes, especially the cooking lessons with Nonny were funny and cute.
I also liked Ezekiel.........he wasn't a sexist and controlling ass@$#le...He was caring and giving towards Bella which was something better than some of the male characters in this series.
Secondary characters.......wow, the triplets.......totally captivating!!! I adored these three little girls....
Whilst I liked this book more than the previous two or three, it still didn't "rock" my world. I find that there is a lot of repetition....I want to taste you...I want you....Open up for me!!!!!
I feel something is missing in this series...can't put my finger on what exactly.........it needs an injection of something or other....but whatever it is.......unless it happens...I am not sure if I will continue reading this series....more

Is Christine Feehan getting bored? Really, her last few books have left me feeling.............something like this........
Spider Game is the 12th book in her GhostWalkers Series - so what did I think of Cayenne and Trap's story??
Firstly, the main character's names......really!!! Cayenne & Trap!!!
But that's not the only reason why I found this story to be yet another....
I found Cayenne to be a pretty cool heroine....she was kickass - (that's the reason for 1,5 stars instead of 1) well in the beginning.......but then, what the hell happened to her!!!! Letting the hero, old Trap walk all over her!!!
Now, let's continue with Trap!!! What a d@##$khead!!! The way he treated Cayenne was beyond despicable.....here I was hoping that he would become a bit better...but no........he continues to be the ass@@@@@le........why she stuck around with him was beyond comprehension.
I am also becoming a bit bored with all the repetitive sex scenes....which crop up at the most unexpected times....
Anyway, I will probably read the next book in the series..........with the hope that just maybe....the next will be an awesome one!!!...more
NOTE: I originally wrote this review on the incorrect edition....so I have corrected now!!!!
It’s pretty hard to ignore all the hype and controversy suNOTE: I originally wrote this review on the incorrect edition....so I have corrected now!!!!
It’s pretty hard to ignore all the hype and controversy surrounding E.L James’s FIFTY SHADES trilogy. Mind blowing how many people are talking about the books…since the 1st book, FIFTY SHADES OF GREY was released at the beginning of Apr 2012, it’s absolutely incredible the number of reviews I have seen. Amazon has almost 6000 posted reviews and probably twice as much on their discussion boards!!!!!
I am an insatiable, voracious avid reader and over the years and the amount of reading I know what I like and don’t like. But I am not a writer and I admire and love the fact that there are people who can use words to create worlds that I am able to engage with. The whole craze, fixation about the books, whether positive or negative is not an issue…..it’s the fact that EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT!!! And I have to congratulate the author for this…it’s the best and free publicity ensuring high sales, which is after all, what a writer and the publisher, naturally, want to have.
By now, thousands of reviews have been written and everyone pretty much the story of virgin Anastasia Steele & dark Christian Grey. So I am going to write on what I liked and didn’t like after reading THE BOOK.
NOTE...........THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
CHRISTIAN GREY – and yes, him first!!!!!! Because I really warmed up to the guy. Okay, it does seem far-fetched, OTT even, that a guy by the age of 27…YES TWENTY-SEVEN (where to these kind of guys live..certainly not here in my place!!). But listen, this is a fantasy, fiction where anything is possible..there is no impossibilities here..so if you are 27, gorgeous, rich…no a billionaire, you fly helicopters, gliders, feed the poor in Africa, wears the most incredible designer clothes, a body to die for, a sex fiend in bed – he’s smoldering..fabulicious never ending sex and in one go too, beyond fabulous gray eyes, a loving family, hot hot cars, owns an empire , he still finds lots of time to chase the woman he wants and write tons of emails to her................... how can any woman in her right mind not want him!!!!!!!!
Yes, he seems like an unemotional control freak..But under all this glamour, there is something dark and intriguing about him. Something sad and painful inside him that wants me to do something to make it all go away. By the end I was totally “dazzled”.
What interests me about Christian is the way he tries to portray himself as this remote tycoon, living alone with no friends and just a spectator in his world. Yet, the more I learnt about him seem to be in total contradiction to what he believes he is. He has a warm and loving (at least that’s what it seemed to me) with his family (although I sense something about his stepmother that makes me wonder if there is some deep, dark secret about her!), he’s kind to his housekeeper, his bodyguard, is passionate about sharing his vast, and I mean vast wealth with underprivileged people. The contradictions in his persona are what makes me not believe that he’s not a good man.
ANASTASIA STEELE–I was beyond irritated with this girl/woman by the middle of the book.
No, it’s not possible; she cannot be 22…no way!!!!! Maybe there’s a generation gap between Ana & I - is that how people in their twenty’s speak??? (more about that later). It’s more like a 16 year old would talk about her crush on that gorgeous, rich man!!!! And all those emails…drove me crazy after a while but it does fill pages!!!!!! What would Ana have done if Christian hadn’t given her a Mac – not even available to the plebs like us!)….what, she’s never owned her laptop? A student in the age of technology!!!!!!
All that crying…wooo poor me…I just love him and he just wants to spank me!!! Boo boo….Grow up and act real I kept saying to myself. I smiled when I read she was a virgin…wow, and here I was thinking that it only happens in a Mills & Boon aka Silhouette romance book and not in an erotica/bdsm book!!!!!! An insecure virgin, who constantly bites her lower lip, blushes and flushes suddenly is having orgasms by the dozen…she just has to look at the gorgeous Christian and wow…no need for sex, looking at does the same thing!!!! And so innocent that is able, at her first try, the best blowjob he has EVER ever had!!! The characterization of Ana from being this “green” with sex suddenly jumps to a hot temptress was just not believable to me…oh forgot…this is fictional and anything can happen and be!!!! When she asks Christian “are you going to play on your X-box” had me rolling on the floor.
Now, after writing all of the above about Ana, I honestly admit that I began thinking that perhaps I misunderstood her..maybe there was more to her than I thought…and then….POW.....she does something totally insensitive…I wanted to pull her hair…pity she did not have her pigtails hairstyle!!! After going through the whole contract stuff (which I thought was so OTT), Christian not pushing or demanding that she agrees to his wants/needs, after telling us how much she really loves him…….decides she can’t handle it and no longer wants to be with him and his problems. Girl, love, real love would have you help the man to face and overcome his problems, his pain and loneliness and not leave when things get tough!!!
REPETITION – this seems to be one of the most heated discussion of the book, and in all honesty the overuse of certain words did irritate me a bit..well more than a bit!! I know we are suppose to believe that Ana is this naive, innocent virgin but her vocabulary! It’s very limited but as I mentioned before, perhaps this is the newspeak of the new generation!!!! And both characters did the same and said the same things over and over and over again.
I found some interesting information that someone wrote in their review about this subject: Ana’s “holy crap, double crap”, “holy shit” some 90 times, Christian “cocks his head to one side” 20 times, both “raise eyebrows” over 50 times, Ana’s” inner goddess” is mentioned up to 50 times , smirk, rolling of eyes, and “oh my’s” that by the middle of the book my head was spinning with word bombardments (hope such a word exists).
THE SEX , THE BSDM AND MOMMY PORN STUFF – don’t understand why there is such an emphasis on the whole bondage and sex stuff. And what on earth is Mommy Porn???? Ana & Christian’s first sexual encounters were pretty tame compared to some other books that I have read. And all the bondage stuff…though I have read very little about this subject so I can’t comment about it and my thought was…is that it????? I expected more violence and pain, for it to be a bit more dirty and sordid, although I find it strange that Ana would agree to enter into this kind of relationship just because she loved Christian. Would any woman be prepared to accept the whole domination thing so easily????
THE TWILIGHT “THING”– so I now am aware that this book was originally written as fanfiction so I should have realized that there would be similarities. And there are many. Though the names are different, the story tweaked here and there, it is basically like reading Edward & Bella’s erotic (soft rather than hard) porno love story.
Ana lives in Continental USA, is beautiful (but doesn’t know it!), smart, loves English classics (read Tess instead of Wuthering Heights!!!!!), has a ditzy mother who she feels very protective over and cannot believe someone like Christian would want to be with her..oh yes there is also another guy who wants her too (thankfully she never goes as far as Bella did with Jacob!!).
Christian is the ultimate beautiful male
(and I mean beautiful..it’s mentioned so many times that it’s impossible not to get it!!).
He has a fabulously styled copper colored mop, anything – well designer it is- he wears looks amazing on him. His body is to die for. He’s beyond rich and loves to give her gifts…an Audi no less.
And “What am I going to do with you?” Edward..sorry no Christian asks Ana. Christian plays piano like a pro. And such a lovely and warm family he has. I would have thought that the editor would have done something about the two stories being so similar but I am not qualified enough to say more about the editing here.
Although I read that Stephenie Meyer, the author of Twilight had no problem with the similarities. Let's check out some of those similarities......
In conclusion, I caved in and joined the FSOG TRIBE - I wasn't forced to become a member...........in fact, it was totally and I mean totally willingly!!!!
Yes...I did.... I read THE BOOK.
And what, finished it in two days!!!!!!!!! And wanted to read the next installment immediately, which told me that……….okay, it’s not the most incredible book I have read, it’s not a classic that will be used in schools, it’s not “Jane Eyre”, the sex wasn’t that out there exciting, sensual or even a turn-on for me and the plot..can’t really say much about that.
However, it was not as bad as some of the reviews I have seen. I don’t believe it was ever meant to be seen as a brilliant piece of literature (which it isn’t - it certainly will NOT win any Pulitzer prize for Literature!!!!!) but was it entertaining? Yes, absolutely!!!! I didn’t hate it. And right now...... I want to find out who Mrs Robinson is, what is Christian’s dark secret, is there something more about his stepmother, what will Ana do next, and Christian…he’s like embedded in my head!!!!
Those are some of the reasons I am giving this review 4 stars instead of the 3 I was going to give originally. But - If a book can get me so engaged it had to be more than just an average and mediocre tale. And for the author to have the guts to do something that very few writers manage to do…..get people talking about it and get them to buy, buy your books. 10 million copies sold in America alone – IN 6 WEEKS!!! And now the talk is that Hollywood wants to turn her books into a movie!! It’s a writer’s dream come true and that is BEYOND AWESOME!!! One has to show respect to this woman!!!!!
So now onto Fifty Shades of Darker…need to discover more about the books that everyone is talking about (some blurb on the cover, which I think works very well)
These are some quotes from this series that have become "famous"........
Now, is E.L. James a clever writer or not!!!! Did we actually need this book??? Of course not!! GREY is exactly the same book as Fifty Shades of GreyNow, is E.L. James a clever writer or not!!!! Did we actually need this book??? Of course not!! GREY is exactly the same book as Fifty Shades of Grey and the earliest section of Fifty Shades Darker ..there's only one difference.........let me tell you more...
It's time for us to get Christian Grey's very own POV............oh....we gonna find out what makes this guy tick!!!! Never mind that it's the exact same dialogue.... that we get to read the legal contract ....again.........we get to check out all the emails that we have read before...........so why do we go out and pay for something we have read before????
Because we are totally besotted with Christian Grey.......well, I am............. If it wasn't for him......would I have continued turning the pages!!!! Not sure....because right now....Anastasia Steele is not on my favourite heroines list!!! I was reminded again of how much she irritated me in FSOG.....
.........Listen up Christian...give her up...I am so much more interesting.......in fact, I am fully committed to being his girlfriend...
Grey is not the worst book I’ve ever read - I wanted to read it when I heard about it....and I am happy I did..............will I read it again???? Probably not!!! Or maybe I will in twenty years time!!!!!!! But honestly........Christian Grey may be egotistical, OCD.....and all those other things....but hey.....
So, I'm off to go on a "flip" with my CG...........
PS.......Not wanting to be "beaten" up by some of the FSOG 'Non-Fans".........can I admit that I liked the FSOG movie...and ...let me say it softly....have watched it a couple of time!!! Okay, time to go!!!...more
I think I'm giving up on what was one of my all-time favourite paranormal series, Dark Carpathians Series by Christine Feehan.
I was so hoping that theI think I'm giving up on what was one of my all-time favourite paranormal series, Dark Carpathians Series by Christine Feehan.
I was so hoping that the latest addition, Dark Crime would somehow be a "keeper"......I should have known that this being book #27....it could perhaps be a rehash of the previous books!!!! And of course it was..........the only good thing was that it was a novella instead of a full length book...otherwise I would have given up halfway...which I kept wanting to do!!!
Seriously, there is nothing new in this story. The uber alpha demands total obedience from the woman, who is again, fighting baddies...He comes to the rescue and within a chapter or two...it's sex and more sex and more pages and more sex and more pages....
OOOps..got that wrong....she doesn't tell him she wants sex./....in fact, she says NO NO NO...... ... But he insists!!! Demands she give him a blowjob!!! Seriously!!! And of course.........she gives in.......IDIOTA!!!!! Too stupid for me...............
I'm sorry Ms Feehan.........I have been one of your diehard fans...but your latest books have been such a letdown for me...........I'm going to give this series a rest for now.
I relished reading Mr President by Katy Evans, the 1st book in her White House Series.
Oh, how I wish I was an American citizen!!!! Because if I was...I relished reading Mr President by Katy Evans, the 1st book in her White House Series.
Oh, how I wish I was an American citizen!!!! Because if I was.........I would definitely vote for Mathew Hamilton to be the President of the USA!!!
Matt is good looking, rich, smart, caring....yes, he cares for his fellow Americans...........in fact..........
he's so much more elegant and fabulous and has a beyond better hairstyle than DT and he's so much much more COOLER than HC!!!!!
A winning plot, engaging characters and I loved the whole political intrigues and shenanigans. American politics fascinate me........no other country on earth brings out the glamour and excitement in politics like that country!!! It's like I'm watching a movie and everything and everyone is sooooo exciting and interesting!!!
I find the author's writing style very easy to read and despite the slow start at the beginning, I was more than happy to turning the pages so that I could see where Matt and Charlotte Wells would end up...together or apart..........would he win the election.....
Well, everyone knows by now that there's a huge cliff-hanger.............that ensures that I am going to be looking forward to the continuation of Matt and Charlotte's life at the White House ...or maybe not!!!!
WHEW!This is me after going thru some hell of an angst fest!!!!
Breaking Her is the 2nd book in R.K. Lilley's Love is War Duet. I lovedWHEW!This is me after going thru some hell of an angst fest!!!!
Breaking Her is the 2nd book in R.K. Lilley's Love is War Duet. I loved the 1st book, Breaking Him https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... and I was so looking forward to the follow-up. I so wanted to like this one............but sadly I did not.
Dante & Scarlett's intense and shaky relationship continues in this book.....it's become even more intense...in fact, it's overflowing with over-the-top angst.........did I say angst????!!!YES!!!!
Each encounter between these two seems to end in angry sex............turn page...angst....turn page....angst.....
Why the hell these two didn't just come out and say what they were thinking/feeling instead back and forward with all the internal doubts!!!!
Then the drama................the cliff-hanger we were left at the end of the 1st book is now revealed!!! Again............drama....drama....drama............
Okay, Scarlett's secrets come out..............Dante's secrets come out.............but boy did it take a looooooooooong time for the revelations to come up!!! Big reveals......almost at the very end of the story!!!! In between I am kind of skimming a lot of the pages....why??? Because I am beyond confused...........what the heck is going on here!!! My head is spinning...the story moves from present to past to present again!!!! I just kept waiting for something monumental to happen...but just never does......
The whole plot was a bit unbelievable in some parts which added further to my addled reading brain state!!!! And some of the secondary characters......OMG!!! The most awful and unlikeable people ever............Dante's debauched father........his evil mother........Scarlett's traitorous friend, Farah....and then there's that really bad bad bad one........Tiffany........what a cow!!!! Well, there are a few nice ones...but somehow they just seemed to fade into the background......so, I'm off now....I need some fortitude after meeting up with these humans!!!!
Most people loved this book and in a way I understand their reasons...but for me....it was a case of between It Was Okay and I Liked It -------because I did like the Epilogue!!!!
And may I add........I am still a total R.K. Lilley fan!!!!...more
Thrill Me To Death is the 2nd book in the series.....and it was great...it was very good...and I loved it.
Sexy Bullet Catcher Max Roper's assignment.. Thrill Me To Death is the 2nd book in the series.....and it was great...it was very good...and I loved it.
Sexy Bullet Catcher Max Roper's assignment...........protect his principal, Corinne (Cori) Cooper Peyton, widow of billionaire William Peyton and Max's ex lover....who also is suspected of bumping off her much older husband.
Max and Cori have a past history........they use to be in love but fell out and she went off and married the billionaire and he went off to become a BC!!! Now, thrown together....and perhaps given a "second chance" at love....or maybe not!
These two had an amazing chemistry and I liked them together a lot. The poker games that the two use to play together in the past and play again in the present made for some pretty hot scenes!!!
Great suspense, fabulous romance, hot sexy scenes, tension, action, red herrings thrown your way that have you guessing until the very end. The revelation of who the baddie was in this story was a bit unbelievable but it wasn't that a big issue.

I've read a few that she has written after this one, which I have really liked, but this one...let me just add that I am in the minority here...didn't work for me. It failed to excite me.......
I'm going to try and keep my "rant" as short as possible.
The writing was nothing like the other books...it was just okay. No great quotes stood out to me!!!
There were so many things that glaringly reminded me of 50 Shades of Grey.....all that internal dialogue, the broken and dominant hero, the sweet and virginal heroine, etc, etc
So, the heroine is still at a virgin....she promised to wait for Leo, remember.......and then..........presto.............2 dates and she sleeps with the hero...who is not Leo!!!!
Can I do some eye exercises here please!!!!!
I actually liked Evie, the heroine. She was a really sweet and likeable characters......but when she starts telling her besties and friends all of Leo's secrets and how much she loves him....blah blah..........I just couldn't believable that any sane person who do that, even if it's her very best best BFF...............
I couldn't engage with Jake, the hero.........his whole attitude was ...ooh I'm so great.........and quite honestly, I can't believe a guy that age would be running a company like he does!!! Oh, did you say he's like Mr Christian Grey????? Really!!! Guess there's a lot of hot hot very very rich very very young zillionaires out there that I am not aware of!!!Or not!!! Ummm
Yes, some more eye exercises after this......
Evie sleeps with Jake....lots and lots and lots of times and she never never ever sees the ginormous tattoo on his back.........what, they just do the missionary position in the dark!!!! Seriously!!! And to test my intelligence further....Evie DOES NOT recognize Leo when she sees him after all those many years........come one...(view spoiler)[so, he's had plastic surgery but still, I found this part very hard to swallow....... (hide spoiler)]
So when Evie discovers Jake's big secret - she's heartbroken for him...naturally!!! She's a sweet and loving and caring person.......and she's totally so understanding......really!!! The guy has slept his way through the years.....she's remained a virgin.........allright, so I can't exactly expect a person to keep their virginity in this day and age......but why can he be a slut and she has to be a virgin!!!!
Jake's sob story ..............I was like......
Despite the disappointment, I am still going ahead and reading the remainder of MS books........and I can't wait.
As they say, you can't win them all..............["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>...more
