She’s been writing romance novels for Harlequin and Mills and Boons for years and she has a lot of information and tips for writers and wanna be writers…like me…..
This book was recommended when I did a writers course - for mills and boon writers…yes I kid you not!!!!
This book is informative, very well written and easy to read. The information is broken into chapters - each dealing with a different subject and at the end of each chapter there is a section of questions and exercises for one to do...
The last chapter includes articles by other romance writers who share their experiences and offer advice.
A must for all writers who want to know more about writing romance. It’s the best guide to writing a romance (less)

I read the other 3 – Mr Mischief by Kate Hewitt based on Emma, In Want of a Wife by Cathy Williams based on Pride and Prejudiced and The Forbidden Innocent based on Jane Eyre which I liked but the story of Heath & Kat really got me hooked.
This is an intense story about revenge, secrets, jealousies and betrayal. Heath Montana, was found on a cold and rainy night after being abandoned by his mother by Kat’s father who decided to bring him to High Farm. Heath & Kat became friends but not Joe her brother, who, on the death of their father, banned Heath from the house and he had to live in a shed. Heath realizes that he loves Kat but one night changed everything. Kat became mesmerized by the wealth of their neighbor, Arthur Charlton, when she had been taken to the manor after being bitten by a dog. Heath overhears them talking about him, calling him “gypsy boy”, making fun of him. In the end, Kat tells Heath that she does not feel anything for him.
Ten years later, after building his own empire, Heath returns to the place he once called home seeking revenge. He has never forgotten the way he was treated and has not forgiven them for the cruelty he endured at High Farm. He knows that Kat’s brother is an alcoholic, living at the now rundown High Farm alone with his small son. Kat is now a widow after the death of her sick and perverted husband
Kat is pleased to see Heath again but shocked by the changes in him. Dark, brooding wearing an emerald stud in one ear is a stranger to her. She discovers she is drawn to Heath despite having changed since she last saw Heath. Dealing with the debts her husband left her with as well as the problems with her brother and his farm has changed her from the carefree girl she once was. What she doesn’t realize is that Heath is now the owner of the Manor and High Farm and he intends to throw them all out just like they did to him those years ago.
Despite her betrayal, all it takes is one look at her for Heath to realize that he still wants her and that he can get her to come to him. But will he be able to walk away from her again? Can Kat love the brooding stranger he has turned into?
An amazing and powerful love story filled with intense emotions, a wonderful plot and the passion between Heath & Kat is hot and sizzling.(less)

After being captured in the last book by the other Lords, she’s now their prisoner. She claims to be the wife of Gideon but he can’t remember her at all!!!
What follows is a story filled with twists, cliffhangers, secrets, lies (and I don’t just mean Gideon’s lies!!!) more information on the Lords and their world…….and much much more.
I thought Gideon to be quite a sweet and cute and hot and sexy guy. But Scarlett did it for me in this book. I adored her. She’s gorgeous, sexy, funny and sassy…. I mean….she loves Robert Pattinson – JUST LIKE ME………….
“Well, I’ve been calling myself Scarlett Pattinson for several weeks. Have you seen Robert Pattinson. Hottest. Man. Ever. And no, I don’t care if that makes me a cougar.”
This woman has great taste in men……..Gideon naturally and then there’s Bana, di Caprio, Pine…………….
Great dialogue, especially between Gideon and Scarlett…and their chemistry…hot!
Enjoyed following the lives of the Lords and their women…Maddox worrying about his pregnant wife…totally sweet.
I enjoy this series – the author has created a fascinating world and great characters.

I have always loved the first book in the series......my first intro into this amazing world, and Wrath & Beth's story has remained one of my favorites [image error]
It's liking going back home, visiting "people" that have become my friends. Beth is such a fabulous character - perfect queen material...
“Whoa. Fangs. She had fangs.
She leaned in, prodded them a little. Eating with those puppies was going to take some getting used to, she thought.
On impulse, she brought up her hands, turned her fingers into claws. Hissed.
And Wrath...he knows what he wants!!! “You don't know this yet. But you are Mine - Wrath”
Some of the quotes I loved in this book:
“With a deliberate shrug, he stepped free of the hold on his shoulder. “Tell me something, boys,” he drawled. “Do you wear that leather to turn each other on? I mean, is it a dick thing with you all?” Butch got slammed so hard against the door that his back teeth rattled.
“Tell me something, boys. Do you wear that leather to turn each other on? I mean, is it a dick thing with you all?” Butch is another fab character.....
I am so invested in the series that I am unable to keep away from anything BDB......
and so onwards to Rhage and his shellan next!

Third or fourth time I have read this book...and love it more and more....I am so totally addicted to the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series...no, so beyond totally obsessed!!!! And yes, I will read it again and again and again!!!!!!
I have become so obsessed with this series....crazy really....I don't remember even being so into a series like this....after reading the entire 8 books twice, I felt a "compulsion"....yeah, right...Wrath making me pick his book up again...!!!!! I loved it even more than the previous times...Wrath and Beth are just an amazing couple.....I hope that the new book coming out in 2012 will have more about them....so gotta go....and start on Book 2.....
Going through a vampire, paranormal romance period, I had been reading books in this genre but had never read any of JR Ward’s books until I picked up the first 5 novels in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series which were being sold at a discounted price.
I began reading DARK LOVER, the 1st book in the series and could not put it down. I wanted to finish it and go onto the next one. I was totally hooked.
Set in modern day Caldwell, New York a war is going on between vampires and Wrath, the last purebred vampire is king and leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, a group of vampire warriors fighting the evil Lessing Society, which is bent on eradicating vampires. He has been asked by his closest friend, Darius who is murdered by the lesser, to look after Beth, his half human daughter. Beth has never had a serious relationship and longs for some excitement in her life. She becomes totally enthralled with Wrath. He seduces her on their first meeting and enters a sensual world that she never could imagine existed. The sex scenes are so erotic and sensual and sizzling HOT…. We meet the vampire warriors….OMG….deliciously HOT, DANGEROUS, SEXY and SO DESIRABLE…..with names like Vishous, Rhage, Zsadist, Phury, Tohrment, who love rap music, clubs with names like Screamers!!!.. black leather, fast cars, fast women- absolute superstuds that can be deadly in combat but have a tender and sensitive side as well. I loved the way the characters were named….
You are taken on an exhilarating ride filled with fast action, sensual romance and a vampire world you have never seen before. I love JR Ward’s style of writing and you lose yourself in a world of exciting fantasy. You lose yourself in this dark and exciting world and you want to discover everything in it. To help understand some of the terms and dialogue in the story, a glossary helps you the descriptions. I recommend the books are read in the series reading order.(less)

“I was dead until you found me, though I breathed. I was sightless, though I could see. And then you came...and I was awakened.”
So much sadness but so much love and happiness too.
This is such a poignant story in this series and I absolutely love it.
2nd Review I am so into a mass of BDB Series madness......geez this sounds like really bad English...but I can't find words for my obsession with this series....BLAME IT ON THE JR WARD GROUP...QHUINN/BLAY ......the passion shown by the members of this thread has driven me to absolute distraction...so much so that I have started reading the entire series again....for the 3rd or 4th time.....I am totally enthralled.....it's wrath, beth, rhage, butch, v, marissa, qhuinn...(forget it I am not admitting to even giving that darned Blay uppie a mention here!!!!!!), layla, V, Xhex...in my head.....i am like an addict....curl up with the book i am reading....turn page after page...forget dinner, forget anything else...i just do not want to leave this world.... Reading Love Awakened again....thrilled me as much as it did the first time I read it.....Zsadist & Bella....what a fab couple....and their little girl....okay...i can't continue gushing anymore...so, bottom line....I AM STILL HOOKED ON BDB SERIES and this is one of my fav books..... IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT HAS NOT READ THIS SERIES??????
1st Review Lover Awakaned is the 3rd book in the Dark Series by JR Ward and they just keeping getting better and better. I loved this book. Left me breathless This is the story of Zsadist, who we met in the two previous books, is the tortured, emotionally and physically scarred member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and I was not really sure if I liked him or not. He was mean, ugly and who could possibly like him I thought!!! How could Bella, a beautiful aristocratic vampire possibly be attracted to him???? Being the next book in the series …by this time being totally addicted…I opened page 1…and ….by chapter 2 …..I was enthralled….I couldn’t stop reading……I finished in one day. There is so much emotion, love, sacrifice, tenderness and the most erotic love scenes…… Tore my heart when reading about Zsadist’s life….being kidnapped and used as a sex slave for years, the torture he endured before being rescued by his twin brother, Phury, who sacrificed so much to find his brother and the devotion between the two is absolutely incredible. Almost made me cry reading about it. So here is this man who shows only hatred, can’t bear to be touched finally meeting a woman, who sees in him more than the scars but what lies underneath his skin. After being rescued from her kidnapping by a lesser by Zsadist, Bella realizes that he is the only man for her. She brings out the best in him….tenderness, love, loyalty……..she believes in him and the goodness within. Their love story is unforgettable……romantic… sexy…hot, erotic love scenes between the two…. In between you learn more about the other Brotherhood characters…previous ones and some which you know are going to have their own story. Next book, Lover Revealed, here I come!!!!(less)

beautiful and gorgeous Brother........ and probably the most "underrated" of the Brotherwood. Here's this amazing guy who can get any women he wants but what he's looking for...someone to love and care for just seems to be just a dream. Afraid to love because of what's inside him... And at last meeting Mary, the woman who loves him for who he is, for what's underneath that beauty..she's sees a soul that's worth loving.....my heart really bled for the pain she's had in her life and my heart soared when she found a life with Rhage [image error]

I'm not okay," she said hoarsely between breaths. "Rhage...I'm not okay.”
“I will not fall in love with you," she said. "I can't let myself. I won't." "That's all right. I'll love you enough for the both of us.”
YES, SHE DOES!!!!!!!!

LOVER ETERNAL is the 2nd book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series that I am becoming more and more addicted to as I continue reading it. This is another reread.....i can't get away from this series....I keep reading each book over and over again.....I wish I could read LOVER REBORN ...like right now!!!!! Anyway, after reading this book again.....I love it just as much if not more than before. Rhage...what a gorgeous man..........I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM..... so...am I going to read it again????? You bet!!!!!!!!
A story of finding true love, making sacrifices, fighting evil, loyalty, steamy and erotic sex and devotion. Rhage is a strong, absolutely gorgeous (reason why he’s often referred to as Hollywood!!)has been cursed by the Virgin Scribe (she is the mother of all vampires) with a dragon that can only be controlled by having sex with different women and he is tired of meaningless sex and longs to find a woman he can love and be with. He meets Mary Luce, a very average looking woman who touches his heart with her voice. She is battling with leukemia and is in the final stage of the disease and knows that she will not have much time to live. Their relationship is so sweet and tender. The sacrifice Rhage makes to keep Mary alive is totally amazing. There is so much passion in their story and you knew that they were meant for each other. I loved these two characters. T We learn more about the Lessing Society….Mr X, Mr O…love the names The story also introduces us to new characters….Bella, a vampire and a friend of Mary’s, John Mathews, the young and lonely boy Mary “adopts” and introduces to the Brotherhood and more about Wrath and Beth’s life. Getting to the last page, you feel part of this fantastic and fabulous family. We get hints and clues for what is coming in the next books….the story of Butch and Marissa, Zsadist and Bella and the end of this book is really great….leaves you wanting to get started on the next installment…….(less)

I love this One of my fav couples in this series. And yes...I will read this book again...and again!!!!
2nd Review Rereading due to my BDB SERIES CRAZE.....each waking hour of my day is filled with the world of the BDB.....and finishing this book I was even more crazy for these two...Butch and Marissa....and V's little obsession for B and his kinky sex life didn't irritate me as much....still love the guy though....he's such a BADASS.....I have rated this book 5 stars because I found myself enthralled by this story than before... so onto the next book........
1st Review After meeting Butch O’Neil, a tired, hard drinking, burnt-out cop and Marissa, an aristocratic vampire in the first book of this series, Dark Lover, I was looking forward to reading their story. I love Butch….his love for designer clothes, his relationship with the Brotherhood – he has given up his old life and since discovering their secret when he helped Wrath and his wife Beth, is living with the warriors. I like the interaction between human and vampire. He becomes very close to Vishous…..whilst I liked the bond the two had I really didn’t want them to become lovers…I became a bit irritated by the romantic feelings Vishous displayed towards Butch….I wanted Butch to finally get the girl he craved for…Marissa. Thankfully he does…although I do like Vishous….don’t get me wrong. Butch and Marissa have to overcome so many obstacles before the finally get together…..the interference by her brother, his capture and torture by the Lessers, his turning into a vampire not knowing if he would survive it. Marissa is a kind, innocent woman who finally meets the man who changes her life. Their story is tender and warm….at times I did want to feel more passion and intensity between the two….I mean….the scenes between Butch and Vishous…geez …hot and sexy………..but as I said before…..I am glad the author changed her mind….and we did not have a Butch & Vishous couple!!!!!! I am sure we will get a story about two warriors in love in the future. And wow ….the characters…Omega, The Scribe Virgin…. I liked reading more about John, Revhenge…what a fab guy….bad and gorgeous…Xhex…what an amazing character…was reminded of Xenia, the woman warrior……can’t wait to read their stories!!!! (less)

I keep reading the entire series over and over again - never getting bored but just more into it than ever. I can't keep away from these books and characters. Crazy!!! But so "true".
I may not have been crazy about Vishous in the beginning...but have grown to becoming just as obsessed with this gorgeous vampire like all those "V' fans out there...and believe me...there are zillions of them!!
And I still don't "feel" that V & Butch should have been a couple like a lot of fans wanted to see. IMO Butch says exactly what I felt -
“And as for that whole you-being-in-love-with-me thing? It was probably more about you just caring about someone for the first time.”
Would Vishous have fallen so deeply in love with Jane if he was really in love with someone else???? Jane is perfect for him - she's intelligent, compassionate, caring and the first person he trusted enough to talk about himself and his life.
Apart from V being beyond sexy, dark and dangerous, cursed and gifted, intelligent and tortured - physically and emotionally, he was also the reason I had my very FIRST TASTE OF GREY GOOSE!!! And not forgetting that I love his "speak" - “You feel me?” "true"....i could go on and on.
The only thing that still bothers me is the fact that Jane, whilst being his mate, is not really human. She goes from to Yes, of course this is fantasy...but here we have a man, who has endured so much pain and loneliness in his life and what happens when he meets the woman that brings light and love into his life? Right, she becomes corporeal but there are so many things that they can't truly do to and with each other. He really had a raw deal....why couldn't the Scribe Virgin do something??? SO NOT FAIR!!! SO NOT RIGHT!!
One of my favorite quotes in this book - Zdadist talking to JM
“I believe there's a hand that guides us. It just isn't always a gentle one. Or one that seems fair at the time. But I dunno, I try to trust in it now. When I freak, I just try to... shit, I guess trust in it. Because at the end of the day, what else can you do? Choice only gets you so far. Reasoning and planning too. The rest... it's up to someone else. Where we end up, who we know, what happens to the people we love... we don't have a lot of control over any of it.”
Can't wait to read this again..and again....
BDB IS SO ADDICTIVE
2nd REVIEW 2012 I am so into V reading this book again.....I am still p....off that Jane is killed and comes back as a ghost...what kind of woman is this for a guy like V???...that Scribe Virgin is some kind of dragon.....sorry Rhage!!!! I am now becoming or have become totally obsessed with the Qhuinn & Blay thing......it's you guys again...getting me all heated up about the qhuay thingie........ I am so into reading the books.....I find myself reading each page slowly so I can prolong the pleasure.....
1st REVIEW 2011 Lover Unbound is the 5th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward. I have read all the previous books in the series and have mixed feelings about Vishous. His conflicting feelings towards Butch….which he hates himself for turned me off him a bit in the previous books. So I was really happy when he found Jane, a doctor who saved his life and he falls in love with her. .….enough of his pining over Butch….funny how fast he falls in love even when he has such an intense lust for Butch!!!! But hey, this is just a story…right!!!!! As I got more into the story, my feelings towards Vishous slowly began to change. What a broken man. A life filled with pain, cruelty, heartbreak, loss and loneliness . Discovering the truth about his birth, his mother (who put a curse on him) and terrible father (who tortured and almost castrated him)….I really felt so sorry for this guy….. No wonder he led such a depraved life….multiple sex with both men and women, indulging in S&M in his belief that it was the only way to deal with pain. Of course Jane falls in love with this hot, gorgeous and sexy man. And he….well he’s attracted to her brain and body of course!!!!! And she is an eager initiator to his sexual games and toys!!!!!! The only thing I really didn’t like …………..Why did Jane have to die???? Somehow her coming back as a ghost (thanks to the sacrifice Vishous made…..couldn’t his mother, the Scribe Virgin get her back as a human….she is after all a deity!!!!!). After everything Vishous has endured in his life, he is still short-changed. I wanted to see him having some good given to him…but no……he has to do with the woman he loves in the form of a ghost!!!!!! How much more can this guy endure!!!!!! There’s a lot happening in this story… more wicked Lessers. Phury’s depression and secret love and pining for Bella, Zhadist’s (his brother) wife, his offer to become Primale to the Chosen…..will he and Cormia, a beautiful innocent Chosen get it together>>….what will the Scribe Virgin do next???? …is John Mathews really into Xhex???? And yes I knew all along….John Mathews is he Darius’s son or incarnation???? And when are Qhuinn & Blaylock going to get it together???? Gay warriors….wow…how are the other alpha warriors going to take this I wonder????? Guess I will have to wait for the next book!!!!!!! LOVING THE SERIES
What is it about JR WARD's BDB Series that the more times I read the books, the more I love them.
I loved Phury & Cormia's story ......more if that...moreWhat is it about JR WARD's BDB Series that the more times I read the books, the more I love them.
I loved Phury & Cormia's story ......more if that's at all possible....after my 4th read!!!!!
I think that Phury is probably one of the most underrated brothers...there's so much more to him than just being Z's twin!!!!!
I am even beginning to "feel" for the Scribe Virgin...yes I am...her perfect world is just fading away..leaving her lonely and so alone!!!!
AND I JUST KEEP WANTING TO READ THIS SERIES OVER AND OVER AGAIN - IT'S
2nd Review After rereading this book I still find it the one I like the least... Phury is just not as interesting as he was in previous books and Cormia kinda fades into the background....perhaps if there had been more about their relationship in this book I may have had a different opinion about them. There are so many sub-plots and characters....my head reeled....who, what...where/???? Of course I devoured each word on Qhuinn....I just adore this guy....I wish he could be mine.......he's hot hot hot.... I am trying to read slowly .....make the next two books last longer...know what I mean!!!!!!! Qhuinn...you rock baby!!!!!!!!!!!!
1st Review I only discovered JR WARD’s books early this year and had no idea what this series was about but I found some of her books on a special price section of my local bookstore and finding the covers and titles quite different and interesting…I thought? Why not? So I bought the first 4 books in the series.
I became totally addicted. I couldn’t stop reading….as soon as I finished the one I began on the next and before I got to the 4th book I had bought the entire series. What fascinates me about her books is that each one has different plot lines, different POV’S, sub-plots and there are secondary characters that we meet and continue to grow so one has a sense of getting to know a little bit more about them and kept in suspense of WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT!!!!
This book is the 6th book in the series and it’s not really one of my favorites..I am not saying I didn’t like it it’s just that It’s Phury and Cormia’s story but it does not focus that much on them. There is so much happening with other characters that you kind of lose track of their story … Phury is very different to the brothers in the previous books. He’s an angst-ridden, artistic, guilt ridden by being secretly in love with Zsadist’s (his twin brother)shellan, Bella, He has spent his life- hundreds of years - making sacrifices for others even giving up one of his legs and celibacy to save Zsadist from slavery and torture. His struggles with his addiction to red smoke and then onto to heroin which nearly kills him.. He’s so out of control that Wrath kicks him out of the Brotherhood….which I thought was pretty grim…even his own brother turned against him. Being the person he is…self-sacrificing ---always putting others before himself…doing everything for others safety, even the cost to his life, he volunteers to take Vishous place as Primale to the Chosen so that V can stay with Jane. Phury will now have to mate with one of the Chosen to continue the pure line of the next generation of the Chosen and the Brotherhood. His first duty is to mate with Cormia, one of the Chosen who we met in Lover Unbound, who is sweet and gentle and falls in love with him despite his problems…she, sees the other side…how noble and great person he is. But despite knowing he’s in love with Bella, she wants his love and body for herself and no one else, not even to share with the other Chosen. Phury soon realizes that he wants only Cormia but can he forsake his duty as a Primale? Their journey takes quite a turn and Phury finally finds a purpose in his life and a solution to the problem with the Chose. …. absolutely amazing. I really admired his courage in not giving up on something he believed was right and moral. He finally finds joy and peace in his life with the woman he loves at his side. The sensuality between them is pure and hot…the real hot scenes happen more between the secondary characters. . I would have loved to see a bit more romance in the story.
Lots of side plots going on in this book…...I really liked the part where we meet the new brothers..John Mathews who goes through his transition, Qhuinn …love this brother…hot hot….and Blay…..a bit bland…. Just love these sexy, gorgeous guys….black leather, designer labels, the talk..wow…wish I could meet one of them!!!!! It’s another world out there..….exciting, dangerous, dark and oh so cool!!!!!I couldn’t wait to read more about them in the next books…I just know we will get to know them really well. Then there’s Bella’s brother Rhev, a sinful looking sympathy, dealer of drugs who owns a nightclub and wears a long sable coat…..he’s a dark and interesting character. The lesser are back with a bang….lots of action, fights… a new leader called X and Lash …what a depraved guy!!!! There’s bound to be more about him in the next books. And Xhex, the amazon who works at Rhev’s club –wow what a woman!!! I actually believed that she was a gay woman….why I am not sure…just she is so strong, remote, complex and shows no interest in the men around her….I loved her character….sure she will appear in her own book soon…..
I liked this book much more the second time I read it. I felt a bit more connected to Phury and Cormia’s HEA than the first time I read it
What I love about this series is the great, strong dialogue and the way the writer makes me feel that I am actually there…I can see the white colors in the Fade, feel the softness of that sable coat –….you can see, smell, taste, feel and hear everything in her books. I am so crazy for this series that I read each book over and over again and find them just as exciting as the first time I read them.(less)

I have to admit that I was not that crazy about Rhevenge the first time I read this book but each time I reread it, the more I like him. He's so much more than the "gangster" facade....he's totally devoted to his family and the people he loves and will do anything to protect them, even giving up his life for them. Ehlena is a perfect "foil" for him. And of course, getting some more about these fabulous vampires and their world...is enough to keep me so so very very HAPPY.
2nd Review Still love this book...just as exciting as the previous times I read it. Rhev is so so hot and sexy.....one of my favourite guys in the series.
1st Review Lover Avenged is the 7th book in JR Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood Series and it’s the story of Rehvenge – Rehv and Ehlena. Although he is not a member of the BDB, his life is closed entwined with theirs and he is also fiercely loyal to the brothers and their families. Rhev struggled his whole life being half Sympath and half vampire. Sympaths are a really scare race and most people are afraid of him and keep well away when he is present at any place. Very few people know what he really is. He suppresses his sympathy side by frequent shots of dopamine at Havers clinic and it is during one of these visits that he meets Ehlena, a vampire nurse who is the only person he has met that is not uncomfortable around him and who shows no fear being with him.
Rhev has appeared in previous books and I have to admit that I never thought there would be a book about him. I mean he’s a drug lord, owns a club where he sells drugs and he’s not a brother. But in this story we learn that he’s been protecting those he loves for years and we begin to see that he’s a noble and caring person. He is being blackmailed by a woman – omg talk about a scary and evil person…..she must be the wickedest woman I have ever read about!!!! The reason he continues to pay her in money and sick and depraved sex is to keep Xhex (who is also sympathy – more about her later!) and himself from their true sympathy nature being discover which would result in them being banished to the sympathy colony…another horrible sick place… He feels debased, dirty and what woman would understand the things he has done in his life.
I liked Ehlena. She is devoted to taking care of her ailing father, who has Alzheimer’s and her life has been a daily struggle since they were both ostracized from the glymera (royal vampires) . She is strangely attracted to Rhev but keeps turning down his attempts to get to know her. Why I have no idea!!!! He’s such a gorgeous man!!! The fur coat, cane and blue Mohawk hair….wow! But in the end she discovers his truth about him and stands by him.. , even prepared to die for him. The relationship between the two is so heartwarming that you want them to have a HEA…and they do despite having to go through hell to get there…being kidnapped, deaths and those pesky lessers getting in between the action.
One of the things I like about this series is that characters from the previous books continue appearing so you have the sense of knowing them and learning more about them.
Wrath and Beth appear and Vishous prophecy about Wrath going blind is coming true. You can feel the pain and fear that Wrath is experiencing as he comes to term that there is no cure and he will eventually become a totally blind King.
There's Xhex and John Mathews whose story will feature in the next book...
Lash, the ex BDB brother who we discover is a lesser and son of the evil Omega is up to his old tricks. He is really wicked.
Tohr, whose wife Wellsie was killed is trying to cope with her death and keeping sane.
I loved this book. There is so much emotion, it’s fast paced and I was totally engrossed in each page I read.(less)

It's emotional, heartbreaking and uplifting too each time I get into this story.
His intensity and depth blows me away. How much he has to deal with in his life....before and after being found by the Brotherhood.
Seeing his and Xhex's relationship develop is just heartbreaking and the ending of this book really made me feel sad....when will something good happen in his life???? I felt his desolation, his pain, his sense of being alone....this was a sad read for me.
I always believed that he and Xhex were meant to be together....call it fate, destiny....but they HAVE to be with each other.
I was glad that he had Qhuinn & Blay in his life...he needs comfort and love ...something he has never experienced before.
Okay, enough...I want JM & Xhex together....the two finding love together, never having it ever in their lives. THAT'S WHAT I WANT!!!!
“...the only thing that had tethered her to the earth had been him and it was strange, but she felt welded to him on some core level now. He had seen her at her absolute worst, at her weakest and most insane, and he hadn't looked away. He hadn't judged and he hadn't been burned.
It was as if in the heat of her meltdown they had melted together.
This was more than emotion. It was a matter of soul.
“John leaned in and pressed his lips to hers; then he stretched out beside her. His body was exhausted but, his heart was alive with a joy so pure it was like the sunlight he didn't get to see anymore: He was a mute-ass motherfucker with a nasty past and a night job that involved fighting evil and slaughtering the undead. And in spite of all that...he'd gotten the girl.” ― John Matthew thinking of Xhex
“I want you to know...that you can trust me."
John locked eyes with her and was instantly transported to a different plane of existence. Mighta been heaven again. Who the fuck knew or cared. All he knew was that there was only her and him together, the rest of the world drifting away into fog.
Was it possible to fall in love with someone twice, he wondered dimly.”
Some of my fav quote:
“Ride?" Rhage snorted. "Please. That thing is a sewing machine with an air dam taped to it. My GTO could dust the fucker in fourth gear from a dead stop."
When there was an odd sound from behind, John looked back. So did the three Brothers.
"What." Xhex bristled and crossed her arms over her chest. "I can laugh, you know. And that's . . . pretty damn funny."
Rhage beamed. "I knew I liked you.”
“You're not half the male you could be because of what was done to you. You're twice what anyone else is because you survived.”
And I so wish Qhuinn would get his shit together.......
“Qhuinn: "What is wrong with you, that you care so much about me?" Blay: "What is wrong with you, that you can't see why I would?”

I decided to read this book again, before getting started on Styxx.
It’s amazing that, no matter how many times I read this book, it continues to consume all my senses…..pulled at my emotions all over again. I don’t remember when last I was so I absorbed into a world and characters that became so real to me. Acheron, a character that has stayed with me for a very long time.
Acheron’s life was an embodiment of tragedy and sadness and also of courage and happiness. I cried, I raged as I experienced his parents rejection, the cruelty, the torture and the abuse – physical, emotional and sexual - he endured by evil family and foes alike, the manner in which people exploited him with no regard to his being- like Artemis and Apollo. I felt his fear, his grief, and his pain, his joy.
I struggled with the first part of the book, primarily because it was such a dark part of Acheron’s life.. I had some moments.. But the 2nd part is what made it so special for me. It was like I suddenly saw light after being in this tunnel of darkness with Acheron.
There were so many memorable characters in this story that I either hated or loved with total passion. Acheron, beautiful, broken, lonely, lost....
Ryssa, Acheron’s sister who loved him and protected him where she could. And how she was used the same way like him by her father, who married her off to Apollo, who clearly had no feelings for her. And the final tragedy in her life and how much heartache it caused Acheron was so damn sad.
Styxx, Acheron’s twin brother, who had turned away from him and had become the favored son at Acheron’s expense. Artemis …….have I ever hated a character so much as hers?? Her cruelty towards Archeron... I just love to hate her!!! Okay, I did feel a “tad” sorry for her… she lost the man that she realized too late, was the only man she loved… what, the “heifer” actually shed a tear or two…to no avail, I might add. Savitar, his dialogue is witty, funny...i had so many laughs with this very mysterious character..who is he really? A surfer god??? Tory, Acheron’s true love. What a fabulous character. I just fell in love with her from the first moment she gets up on stage to deliver her speech on the finding of Atlantis. And the scene where she finds Acheron, working as a builder at a construction place is an absolute HOOT!!!!
And Simi……she has found a place in my heart. I adore her. Unforgettable, quirky, dangerous, sweet, enduring, cute and love her style Acheron is her Akri. The dialogue and interaction between the two is spectacular.
I adored the modern Greece parts in this story, so vividly described that made me feel that I was right there, on a Greek beach looking for Atlantis as well.
I loved the connection and chemistry between Tory and Acheron. The interaction between them is so lovely....Having to go through some trials and tribulations and finally finding happiness together was more than satisfying for me……and I loved the connection between Acheron and Tory as a young boy, her grandfather had been rescued from war-ravaged Greece by Acheron and taken to America, where he was told stories about the lost city of Atlantis. Tory had been told those stories by her grandfather and it was the reason that she wanted to find Atlantis …it was destined that Acheron and Tory were meant to be together. Pre-ordained.
So, arrived at the last page and still as unforgettable as before.
OF COURSE HE IS!!
And now it’s time for me to meet up with Styxx and Acheron again!!!
I am so looking forward to that!!!

Craving the Forbidden is book one in the Fitzroy Legacy – the story of a girl masquerading as her gay best friend’s girlfriend who falls in love with his brother. Kit Fitzroy is a tortured, lonely wealthy aristocrat, on his way to attend his father’s birthday party meets Sophie Greenham, an outgoing, outrageous, loving and loyal actress – loved that she had just worked on a vampire B-grade movie ----who is travelling to the same place Kit is going to masquerading as her gay best friend’s girlfriend….who she discovers his Kit’s brother. The scenes are the train where they first meet is hilarious….Kit listening to Sophie talking on her mobile to some French guy…..unforgettable!!!!!
Both trying to deny the attraction they feel for each other, they are unable to stop the deepening of the feelings they have. Kit feels guilty as he thinks Sophie is his brother’s girlfriend and he fights hard not to betray him. Ultimately he is unable to stay away from her. She brightens up his life and his desire for her is something like he has never felt before.
So many secrets……Sophie’s life as a daughter of a “flower child mother”, who lived in communes in a caravan, her unhappy school years. Kit’s heartbreaking childhood, being cruelly treated by his father after his mother ran away with her lover leaving Kit behind as a small child waiting years and years for her to come for him as she had promised. Sophie discovers a shocking secret when a note falls out of a book she is reading in the castle’s library……and finally Jasper comes “out of the closet” when his father suddenly dies of a heart attack at the birthday party!!!
Some fabulous characters…Jasper’s boyfriend…..hilarious scene when he arrives to rescue Jasper, village locals and Jasper’s mother….talk about a gold digger!!!!!!
The setting descriptions are really good…I could feel the cold in the darkened passages in the castle!!!!! The neglect and decay all around.
Sophie is such an amazing heroine….I absolutely adored her….she is warm, strong, stylish and so so likable. Kit kind of grew on me….I thought at first he would just be another boring rich man with nothing much to do and say…..but he turned out to be a fabulous alpha hero.
This story ends with Kit & Sophie discovering their love for each other and having their HEA.
I can’t wait for Book 2 – want to know what happens after all the shocking events at the end of this story
Book’s Blurb The wrong Fitzroy brother?
Ticket-dodging in a first-class train carriage is not how bubbly Sophie Greenham envisaged meeting Kit Fitzroy, wealthy aristocrat, fearless army hero and brother of her friend Jasper. The smouldering heat between her and Kit is an unwelcome shock—especially as Sophie is masquerading as Jasper's girlfriend all holiday!
Although Kit's bravery is legendary, he's dreading the return to his magnificent ancestral manor. But Sophie's vibrancy dispels the shadows in his tortured soul, consuming Kit with a potent desire for the one woman he's forbidden to touch.… (less)
