I'm horrible at reviewing books that I love because I just can't put it into words... My only thought after I finished was just simply "Holy Moses.". I was in shock, I'm STILL in shock. It is so rare that you find a book that isn't in some way slightly predictable... Divergent and Insurgent are far from predictable in any way. Roth has weaved an amazing literary web of details and facts that you would truly never expect. And the way she reveals them, the way she peels back the many, many layers of the characters... It's truly brilliant. And what of that cliffhanger?! That was just mean!! ...more

I really wanted to like Switched, but I just felt extremely underwhelmed by it all. And quite a bit annoyed throughout the whole book. There were so many little things that bugged me, that it turned into one big annoyance. Some of the decisions made by the characters didn't seem realistic to me. I mean, I know this is a fantasy, but does that mean you must lack common sense? I also felt that it was all pretty predictable. Like the whole thing about who Rhys is. Was that not obvious?!
Am I the only one who was increasingly getting irritated with every description of all the sexy guys? Like, how many times can you use the word "foxy" as a description? Could Amanda not think of ANY other word? I almost want to go through the book and count how many times "foxy" is used! And seriously, who uses that word anymore?! "Dayummm boy, you sure are lookin' foxy tonight!"
Yeah... I think NOT!
I can not seem to understand WHY Wendy didn't tell Matt the truth about everything? It was said several times how if he knew, he would WANT her to go. So why put him through hell and make him wonder where his beloved sister is and if she's safe? Why not just tell him everything! For fucks sake.
Okay, my last complaint! FINN IS SUCH A DOUCHE BAG!!!!
Okay, I admit he is sexyyy. And I do love me some douche baggy guys. (WHY?! I don't know) But he pissed me off to no end! I know he was trying to separate his feelings for Wendy from performing his job, but I just wanted to slap him. Not even because of how hot and cold he was, but how he never explained anything to her or answered any questions. HOW HARD IS IT TO ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION?!
I know it seems like I don't have any good thoughts about this story, but I do! I did like the whole concept and the world building. I guess I just didn't like the character building. I don't know, honestly. It was predictable, boring at times, sometimes intriguing, but mostly it was FORGETTABLE. ...more

I truly enjoyed this book, however I decided to rate it a 3 because of all of the ridiculousness of the world the author brought us into. I'm going to say the same things other readers are saying.... Only the US exists? Why do the girls die at age 20 and the boys at 25? What is the difference?! Of all the facts, you would think this would be set hundreds of years in the future, but I got the sense it was (at the most) 100 years in the future. Is that truly realistic? I personally don't think so. The constant references to the 20th century just didn't make sense to me. What was the author trying to say? It was all lost on me.
However I thought the characters were brilliant! I felt connected to each of the sister wives. There were times I wanted to fold Cecily in my arms and rock her. I admired Jenna's acceptance and loyalty. And of course I was rooting for Rhine! I even found Linden to be likable. Although I wondered at his ignorance. The only character I truly felt a disconnect to what Gabriel. Maybe because he didn't seem to make much of an appearance. Hopefully that will change in the next book.
Regardless of the issues I have with the over all basis of the story, I found this book to be a great read. The characters come across as pure and genuine and sincere in their actions and feelings. I found myself feeling what they were feeling, which I don't usually have happen to me! I'm definitely going to see where this story goes. ...more

This book was scary and fascinating in the way that I could actually imagine something like this happening in the future. Which is one of my favorite things about dystopian novels! I loved that the author made Lena relatable to the readers by making her seem average, but then showing how she grows and how your decisions really define who you are as a person. Whereas the twists and turns were slightly more predictable than I'd have preferred, I was still please with them and the way the author revealed these "shocking" pieces of the puzzle. I really truly loved Grace's character and the relationship and bond Lena had with her. I hope we see more of her!! Perhaps she'll even be a little like Lena, also.
And what of Alex? Oh, I absolutely adored him! The way he was so forbidden, but so right! The way he was so gentle and loving with Lena. How patient he was with her learning all these new truths and letting her find herself without any prodding from him! I just loved everything about Alex! I want my own Alex. *dreamy sigh*...more

It's so very hard for my reviews not to be constantly "OMGOMGOMG" and "IT'S SO AMAZING" and "I LOVED IT". I try to refrain though, so don't worry.
With that said, The Power Of Six is one of those books! Whereas I had some slight complaints with I Am Number Four, I really couldn't find anything to complain about in TPOS! Although I was slightly disappointed in Sarah's betrayal, I completely see how it was necessary to open up the relationship between John and Six. And I am so excited about the possible romances between them!
Starting TPOS, I of course expected of to be action packed just like IAMF and I was not disappointed at all! In fact, I was pleasantly surprised. This book is INTENSE. That's really the only world I can think of to describe it. Intense. I was literally sitting at the edge of my seat through out the action scenes. And oh they were fantastic! Lorien Legacies has filled the void of Harry Potter's end. I only wish I could read the third book now! I truly can't wait until August....more

The book is BY FAR better than the movie. Now that I've read the book, I'm actually quite disappointed in the movie. Mostly that they made Henri so harsh and cold in the movie and he's not like that at all! I truly enjoyed reading about the relationship and father/son bond that Henri and John have. I also loves having more of the backstory on John's life before the war and his relationship with his family. I did find myself getting a tiny bit annoyed by the relationship between John and Sarah. It was almost too much in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I love romance novels, but it was just like wtf dude?! I liked the characters, but I wish the author would have developed them more, I felt like I didn't know them well enough. I've read several reviews of people saying they didn't like Stalker, but I liked him a lot! I actually think I liked him more than Fade. He had more interest to him, in my opinion. Fade was... I think the synopsis definitely misleads you. I thought this book was going to be extremely unique and fascinating. It seemed sort of creepy, which isn't my cup of tea at all! But the synopsis draws you in and makes you want to find out what it's about. Not to say this book wasn't unique or fascinating or creepy, it just wasn't what I thought it would be. It started out creepy, but as you read on, the creepiness creeps away and is replaced with a childlike fairy tale almost. I did enjoy it as I got closer to the end, but I don't believe I'll read this again. All in all, it was okay. ...more
