I really was not sure what to expect when I got this book as a rec from a very close friend. From reading the, back of the book and reviews from this and others by the author it did not seem to fit into "my genre" of choice. After reading this I am not totally sure what category it might fit into? It is not erotica, though it has erotic moments. It is not suspense, but it is filled with dramatic tension, both sexual and personal. It is a kind of romance, but more steamy or edgier than most I think of?
The story started slowly for me and had the feel of a Kristin Hannah meets John Grisham feel, with a down to earth southern charm. As the story of Georgia a 30 y/o single woman who sets off to leave her home and family in the hopes of discovering who she is. I guess this is a story of loneliness, self discovery, lust, heartache and LOVE. Georgia seems to be a naturally beautiful woman, with insecurities that don't allow her to see herself as others can and do. She is down to earth and wild, tender and strong, confused about who she is and possess a great desire to love and be loved by another.
Georgia sets out on her own, to reconnect with old friends, and along the way is confronted with many suitors who seem to both give her what she wants as well as to confuse her even more about who she is. She meets someone who connects with her and makes her feel like never before, and places her trust in him and begins a journey that she never anticipated with an outcome she could not expect either.
As Georgia's trip heads in anew direction she embarks on a flight to Vegas, and this for me is where the story either hits it's stride or connected with me enough to pull me in completely. She connects with another friend and again meets wealthy and exotic men who crave her attention. She begins to find herself even more confused as to who she is and what she wants, but determines to follow her heart.
Someone should have warned Georgia that the heart is a dangerous counselor, and opens you up for not only love but pain as well. Georgia boldly steps out in spite of her fears and follows her heart placing trust that it will guide to the right destination both in reality as well as emotionally.
The story line dropped me for a short while as Georgia moves to Texas following a dream? But quickly drew me back in, with a clever and well placed twist in the story line.
Filled with lust/love, sexual tension, romance, erotic and passionate love, self acceptance and discovery and some very tense (not suspenseful) moments. The ending was beautifully brilliant....Since the happen so rarely in real life, who does not love a happily ever after ending in a book!
AFTER THOUGHT I am not sure how a single 30 y/o virgin with low self esteem/confidence becomes the most sought after woman in the world wherever she goes (almost reminiscent of the male lead in "The Walk" by Richard Paul Evans-although they have diametrically opposed backgrounds), nor how many are willing to come to blows just to win her hand.....Although I found myself attracted to her personality *blush*
I was really routing for Miller, and was hoping he would be the choice of Georgia...However after the book, there was an excerpt for a book (supposed to be released in 2014? but to my knowledge has not been?) with Miller as the lead story line...Sounds like a winner to me....more

The characters were wooden, and didn't seem real and/or likable. A man looking to reunite with his ex, who of course used to be his domme. In the years since they broke up he has become an unfulfilled player, while she has opened perhaps the equivalent of "Other World Kingdom" (which I am not sure actually continues to exist outside of its web site????). In other words the scenario is not really original. It seems like there are about 5 story lines that get played over and over in nearly every femdom book...I won't say novel because most of them are really short stories and this was no different.
What was different was I found the consensual agreement and initial process very exciting, and frightening if not quite believable. At this point I would recommend it, but I have not yet seen where the next 3 or so books take the story?...more

Stop me if you have heard this before...a relationship gone stale. A couple on the verge of marriage???? WHY????? They don't talk, they don't have romance or anything. She wants to know why and searches his computer...Oh my surprise...he has bdsm porn downloaded. And of course like most vanilla ladies, she wants to explore her dominant side. He comes home and they have one of the most boring, unreal conversations and interactions I have come across. I really wanted to like this...but it was just ok.
They really didn't seem like a couple, they did not seem to love and/or trust each other and the role play was a little clinical and robotic, and neither really seems a fit for the role they play????...more

The whole office scenario was unrealistic, as well as the surrender scenario. Way to rushed, and to much happening without a plausible reasoning behind it. The scenes were done before I even had an opportunity to be drawn into any state of erotic arousal.
To me this was like a bout of sex with no foreplay, and a premature climax....Not very fulfilling....more

The beginning of the story develops nicely, but before I realized bam the encounter...bam done.
The exchange was more of voluntary surrender than the breaking that I prefer, but that was fine as the arousal elements were still there. Unfortunately they did not get an opportunity to develop, and Leroy totally pulled me out of any mood that was developing. Perhaps Leroy works as a character for some...but I could have done without....more

I can give up good quality writing for a good story....this one did not connect with me or draw me in. Character development was almost nil, and the story line relationship was...well...implausible. While I love being drawn into a female controlled relationship both in reality as well as vicariously...This really is not a relationship, on any level. Not sure I would recommend this...there are several other femdom avenues to go down, before I would suggest this. However I would not discourage you from reading it either....more

I struggled with some of the cultural vocabulary differences between my native American English and the Author's Queens English, but that was only a minor distraction (I don't mean this as a knock, just something I had to work through).
The build up story line is a little overplayed and generic, some college guys going out looking for some tail...but they were a little shallow, hollow or maybe just plain unauthentic as far as a real person I could like and/or relate to. The writing is not poor, but the character development (if that is important to you) was a little bit lacking IMHO.
However the story line was very arousing, and the methodical breakdown while slightly unbelievable was still very intoxicating (I did have to stop a couple of times during the read to...well you don't need the details...do you???). It still seemed a little cold and clinical, in the relationship of the human puppy and his owner. By this I mean I am willing and have in the past surrendered some deep fears and hang-ups out of trust and love of my mistress. There did not seem to be any of this, and I would have preferred an extra 50-100 pages to let this develop fully rather than the rapid fire meet, and *spoiler* will you get neutered for me all on the same first day meeting? I would have to trust my Mistress a great deal to make that sacrifice (If I could at all?).
But for me the main point of bdsm erotica is does it fill me with arousal and/or a vicarious sub-space type of experience....on that front the book excels. I would recommend this to all TPE, femdom fans especially those with puppy fetish (Not one of my....but after this I would be more open to it than ever before LOL)....more

A slave is given what initially sounds like a simple task to perform, but when it is fully understood the humilation aspect is very well done....then bring in a friend, and a member with a mind of its own....Not great but a quick enjoyable read for humilation fetish enthusiasts.
I wish there was more back story developing, how she gained such a great level of control. But the humiliation aspect was very well done. Having found myself in some similar scenarios, you could feel his embarrassment and her power. This does not happen overnight, and that is why I wished there had been a build up. This flies out the gate and goes non stop. and ends...a little premature. A shame that this didn't go all the way, as it truly had the potential to be Great.
If you like femdom, TPE and/or are a humiliation fetishist, I would recommend you take the time to read this....more
