I've enjoyed this series, though the later books are losing their plot definition, turning more into sex books. Anita Blake has developed quite a bit in the stories, and her development has been chronicled well. You can see each of the choices she makes along the way, and even agree with them, and see how they get her to where she is by the end books. I wish the later books would go back to having more plot in them.(less)

And then, you get the fantastic element - the magic, vampires, shapeshifters, alternate phase of being (Twilight, gloom, dusk, what's in a word?). And the battle between Good and Evil that has been put into an uneasy truce that all do not agree with. Nightwatch are those that watch the night, the dark, the evil. Their counterparts are the Daywatch, and that is the next book, soon to be enjoyed.
