Every other sentence is about eating a ding dong. its extremely annoying and if she really did eat that much....she has to be obese and would be bed ridden. the story was poorly written and edited. most of the time the story line was lost and I had to piece together what was going on. don't waste your time reading this book. its awful.(less)

The set up of the vampire world, and the all the explanations of how they lived, and how they came to be outed in society, was a little blah. Maybe I have read too many vampire books lately, but it was just kinda boring.
So Dawn is the heroine, and the daughter of the Vampire President, and she has been trained to be this bad ass warrior and is now going out on her first mission. Now things are starting to pick up for me!
The vampires she has to train, to take over guardianship of this town, are a bunch of misfit vampires, and quite hilarious. The characters in this book are definitely unique, and are what made the book for me. I loved that they were not all perfect, and gorgeous and ...I don't know...vampirey...I don't think that's a word, but anyway, you get what I mean. They had flaws. They were real people, who just happened to be vampires.
So of course we have a love triangle. I'm kinda over that, but I guess it's better to have 2 hot sexy guys instead of just one in the story! Sebastian, the vampire, and then Ethan, a human, and they are both just irresistibly sexy. Dawn has lived a pretty sheltered life as far as boys go, so she kinda flips over both of them! I can just imagine that her hormones hit the roof, and having no experience, she goes gaga for both of them. Well, can you blame her? Two hot guys falling all over me, I would have a hard time choosin!
The absolute best part of this book, is something that I can't even tell you because it would ruin the whole book! It's part of the plot, and I will admit that I didn't see it coming. That rarely happens for me, and I was pleasantly surprised! I love when that happens in a book! Just reading along, thinking you got the whole thing figured out, and BAM! there it is...LOVE it!
Overall, I thought this was a lovely book. The characters had depth, the plot was spectacular, and it left me wanting more. Even though it started out slow, I'm definitely glad I stuck it out, because it turned into an amazing read. I recommend this book for adults and teens who are looking for an exciting new vampire story! (less)

I was approached by author Ella James not too long ago, and she generously gifted me the first two books in her Stained trilogy, in exchange for an honest review. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this wonderful story! I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait for the last installment in the series.
It begins with a young girl named Julia. She has lived most of her life with a foster family, and because of her, they are destroyed, along with their home. The fire is started by a half-demon who is hunting her; trying to kill her. She flees the scene, only to find herself homeless, and alone.
Julia has special powers. She can see peoples auras, and she can heal. This is how she meets Cayne, another half-demon. He is sexy, and mysterious, with wings the color of charcoal. She heals him after a brutal fight, with the very demon that tried to murder her.
Joined together by a single goal, they begin a trek across the country, hunting down this monster that has hurt them both very deeply. Julia wants answers and she thinks Cayne seems to have them.
As they travel, we learn more about them. We learn that Julia is marked, or Stained, and their are others like her. She needs answers and he can lead her to them. Also, that Cayne has lost his memory, but he knows that the demon part of him is dark, and that he has done terrible things.
I love the romance in this story. It is not instant, and they are not "meant to be" or drawn to each other from first sight. At times, they even dislike each other! They are brought together by their journey, and a natural caring and love for each other begins to form.
Eventually, they are captured by the very ones they are searching for, and become separated. They are both taken to a facility where the Stained, or as they call themselves, Chosen, live and train. Cayne is taken to a holding cell, but Julia is thrown into a military type school. The Chosen hate Cayne, for he is their enemy. The demons and Chosen have been at war for years, and Julia, is causing quite the stir for being with him.
Many others just like her have been brought to this place, but they all seem to have questions that need to be answered. The only good thing about this situation is that Julia meets others that are like her, and she makes some friends.
This part of the book is mostly from Stolen, the second book in the trilogy. I liked this one much better, because of the action and fighting scenes, along with meeting other Stained and learned about their abilities.
Overall, this paranormal romance was exciting, and thrilling, and a story that I enjoyed very much. Cayne was hot and sexy, and I loved watching the romance build between him and Julia. I thought the idea of the Stained was creative, believable, and the characters were likable. I highly recommend this series! (less)

This is definitely...moreI have not read very many books by Meg Cabot, but after reading this book, I get why everyone loves her so much! What a great book!
This is definitely not your typical, meet vampire, fall in love with vampire, live happily every after with vampire...etc. You gotta give Ms. Cabot props for capitalizing on this vampire crazed society, and coming up with a unique twist to this overdone story.
It was fresh and different, and it was so good I could hardly put it down! It is so rare these days that you can read a good vampire book and not know what the outcome is going to be. Sometimes lately, I have felt like I was reading the same book over and over. Thank goodness I didn't pass this one by and gave it a shot. I really enjoyed it.
Meena was awesome. What a great character. I liked how strong of a woman she is and how she sticks to what she believes in all the way to the very end. She is a very real character. She has strong emotions, and she really does hate vampires, but Cabot does allow her some weakness when it comes to Lucien, the incredible handsome and seductive vampire. Her paranormal power of precognition was pretty awesome too. I like it when the chicks are not just swooning, they need powers too!
We have Lucien, son of Dracula, and then we meet Alaric, crazy ass vampire hunter. I enjoyed both of these guys. I really like it when an author lets us read from the point of view of all the main characters. To me, it makes the characters so much more real and I relate to them better.
Alaric is hilarious. He was definitely my favorite out of all the characters. He calls his vampire killing sword Mr. Sticky and he is always ready to use it. Sounds like my kinda guy!
Lucien, of course, is a devilishly handsome and delicious vampire, that no one can resist. I found myself torn between Lucien and Alaric. I can't wait to read more about this triangle of love!
Overall, this book is one I highly recommend. It has action and adventure, love, and even a little comedy. I thoroughly enjoyed it! (less)
