Hmm... well I understand why some people really like thisHad to restart this after reading a couple of the dreams and then putting it down for months.
Hmm... well I understand why some people really like this and some of the dreams are very though provoking for me as well. The problem is some of the dreams are almost redundant and repetitive, whether compared to another dream already described or within the dream itself, and others don't quite work.
Two dreams that I can remember that I had problems with (view spoiler)[ were, the Benjamin Button type of time flow, where the people are getting younger and heading towards their youth. This is a bit different because your memories are of the past, and you are looking forward to those times. One of the times he proposes is when a wife meets her husband for the first time and that first kiss. I would argue that you dread getting to that first kiss because it marks the ending. Yet he describes it like time is moving forward in the meeting. You can have it one way or the other, not both.
OK, another dream I had problems with was a life is lived in a day, whether it is because we move faster or the earth moves slower, everyday marks about a human lifetime. I thought this to be a very interesting premise but, he talks about people that are born at sunset living their prime in the dark and those born at sunrise living their prime in the sun. He argues that the sunset people would be more centered in the indoors and indoor activities with erudite profession, whereas the sunrise people would be more outdoors with outdoors professions like farming. When those sunset people in the middle of their lives had their world turn into brightness, they would be blinded and pull the shades living as hermits. The sunrise people, when the day turned to night, would be depressed by the darkness and not being able to continue with their activities. Both not being happy at the end of their lives. I don't agree with this. One, night does not turn to day with a flick of a switch or vise versa. Two, people would be born somewhere in the middle of the night or day and all would learn that the "seasons" of life was about, what?, 40 years, where light turns to dark. They would be planning on the change. 40 years is not that long to forget. (hide spoiler)]
So there were a number of dreams I had problems with but at least I found them interesting, then there were the dreams that were just kinda boring and repetitive, and then the ones that made you think. Those that caught your attention and made you think were the heart of this book and made it good. But for me, because you had to wade through the "just good but flawed" and then the boring ones, I don't think this is as great as some other reviewers do.
It is a short book so if you want to envision different thoughts on how time flows (and doesn't flow) and you are willing to be bored by some, amazed by some, and just be thoughtful on others (and how they many not work), then read it. I enjoyed it.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>...more

As with all of these books, the situations and fights are ridiculous with the obvious holes with the explanations and the mortals putting themselves in danger. If you can suspend belief and go with it, the books are fun, and funny. This one was only so-so for me though. The romance didn't do it for me and the laughs were few and far between. There are definite furthering of other characters and it seems like maybe this was to bridge the gad more than tell the story of the main characters? It was good enough to read....more

I thought that I wouldn't like it because it was about the Vampire prince and the Lycathorpe princess and didn't have the demons or druid, but it ended up being the most engaging for me so far. It continually was moving and not staying in the bedroom. Just as Demons had screwed with their mates and mating process, Damien finds the vampire had done the same.
You also get more of the other's stories at the same time as Frank brings the continuation of her characters from previous books. ...more

This was a disappointment for me altogether. After the last 4 books which were pretty good, this book puts many of the things that annoyed me about the other books in, and then goes and has no real point.
Ben and she decide to go to Vegas to get married in order to skip all the pomp. This is the story. While in Vegas they do stupid things that aren't very romantic or honeymoonish and get into trouble. They don't think, 'hey, maybe we should... move to a different hotel' when the gun show with werewolf hunting zealots are in town, or maybe, 'let's skip this and do it a different time. Or when the boss says, 'hey do a live TV show from Vegas while your there, she doesn't say, 'forget that I'm going to get dirty with my baby!' no... instead... they go and Ben finds other things to do, play poker, and Mom and Dad come along (this was actually OK (view spoiler)[ in the end they get married with out them anyway (hide spoiler)]) So they plan to get married in Vegas and then make plans to NOT spend time with one another. She ends up going around to get people on her show and get in trouble. The vampire master, who is a friend of Rick, says, 'hey call me if you need anything.' Then cannot do anything for her when she does. When Ben is kidnapped she goes crazy and searches for him at the Lyncanthrope show and gets nearly seduced (yea, she is getting married yet she is getting the hots for all the werecats) Where she escapes only by chance. Then she gets distracted by the vampire party and gets no information. Then she gets sucked into a stupid, stupid trap by the werecats and gets out of that by pure chance and help from again. All of this doesn't help her cause at all and Ben gets out of his trouble on his own. Something you would think anyway. Aggg!
The marriage is anticlimactic and the show she puts on not very interesting.
No, I didn't particularly like this one... but... I didn't hate it either. I just thought it was just a bit on the too stupid without any point. I would skip it and go directly to the next one. Knowing (view spoiler)[ the werecats of the Vegas show are controlled by a old vampire goddess. She puts a curse on Kitty at the end of the book. She makes friends with a magician that is some sort of gate keeper to another realm. She makes friends with some of Ben's zealot friends and enemies of others, who get arrested for murder at the end of the book also. (hide spoiler)] OK now don't bother reading it just go to the next one.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>...more

I actually loved the first because it was funny as hell. There was very little humor for me in this book. The only part that I really found humorous was his encounters with his brothers.
So not humorous but that doesn't necessarily mean it is not a good novel. Well this is a romance and it was OK as such accept, I kept wondering why Sabastien was attracted to Mina. Close to the end of the novel, Mina asks herself, "what does he see in me?", and I never got that answered. Mina is a clumsy, not well feed (so pale and undernourished), emotionally damaged, vampire, who continually does the wrong thing when it comes to judgments. I never disliked her, but never liked her. I thought she was ignorant and easily manipulated.
So I still liked Sabastien and liked how he "taught" her. Really that and the "Bad Guy" were the only plot.
Just OK. Hope the sister's book is better. Amy...more

I really didn't like it at first because it was kind of boring then maybe 1/3 through it started being good. About 2/3 through it had several things that made me frustrated with the end. Above, any that read it should understand and there was other things. The resistance she had, then he had, then...., it just made the end frustrating no matter how well the end....more

I think I liked this more because I read all the preceding books and knew Wulfric's character. He is cold but always does what it right for his family. After re-reading I decided to go back to the beginning as all the characters are very prominent in this book and I've forgotten much of their stories. You really have to like Balogh's type of story though. I find that you either like her or not though some like her older books and not the recent ones....more
Definitely liked it better than Angels' Blood. The plot was more intense and engaging. I felt the chemistry between Rafael and Ellie was better too.

My hang ups are, a lot of talk and teasing and no reason really for holding off on the sex, IMO. She did this in the first book also with talk of sex and f*cking (her word). At least this book had more emotion in it. I liked the building of characters and the world but still find the world too feudalistic, and violent, and the angels too demonic, with out conscience towards humanity. If you think of them as demons instead of angels, it goes much better.
Overall a really good story with a few things that let me down a star....more
