OK finished and it didn't get much better as they "investigate" so stupidly into Ursula's claim, then Zane gives an unforgivable order without even looking into what she says also. (view spoiler)[ The warehouse is too clean, she says she can prove it. Oh no Zane isn't going to "waste" any more time on "lies". Let's just wipe the girl's memory, so hey no going back here. Don't give her the option of waiting it out, nope. She has "no" proof. Only that she was drained nearly dry and left out on the street and it wasn't by Oliver. (hide spoiler)] at this point I'm too far gone into the worse investigative firm ever... again. And the orders... cannot take the back so horrible.
Then Oliver decides to believe, her proves her right, and what do they do? (view spoiler)[Blame her for keeping information, after what they ordered Oliver to do, a total invasion, why should she trust them? And Oliver has every reason to keep it in confidence, it was told in confidence. (hide spoiler)]Wow, what trust this organization has with its people. Hey when it all comes out and they find out about Oliver and Ursula, it is almost just past over, no 'I told you so' or 'you went against our orders' again. For some reason they now trust him with her? Hmm?
The biggest problem with this book is the antagonists aren't the bad vampires running a blood brothel but his friends, family, and colleagues. I ended up hating them more than the bad guy (who of course is the bad guy, so predictable) because they are assholes. With friends like those, who needs enemies?
I really wanted to get to Thomas' story and should have just skipped to it but forced myself to read the 2 I had that came first. I suspect Thomas' story will be my last. This started out as a decent series but the last 3 I've read just leave me a bit mad. Too stupid, too predictable, and horrid characters that are suppose to be friends. The romance was OK, just OK, not enough to keep this from being pretty bad for me overall.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>...more

This one was harder to rate because I really like Severin but not so much Hakan. Mainly I was bored with Hakan and thought he did something really stupid. And then Payton, if she is going to forgive and give into sex, just holds him off out of spite. The ending was good.
Severin was better because he is damaged to the point of hiding in his puma. Taylor need rescuing which helps him heal. The over arch here gets pretty good with more information on the facility burning down and who these people are.
The over arcs move pretty slowly, but the relationship move really fast. Pretty good erotic short stories....more
4.5 This is such a great UF series, fun with an interesting and complicated plot line. It is told in multiple POV, 3rd person, and so you see what is going on with a few of the other characters, which the main characters don't. There are a lot of threads going on trying to come together. There is the dragon hunter of the spirit of the lady of the lake, and then there is the war between the mother and the sisters, which is somewhat a war between the seers. Julius and Marci are still right in the middle as pawns trying to save their own skins. The side characters are almost better than the two main characters. Bob, Cel and Justin and now Amelia, are just great. Crazy but great. The only real complaint is the vanilla non-romance but I'm alright with that, the story line really makes up for it....more
These are short, sweet erotica, with an overarching paranormal fantasy plot. I liked both but thought they both need a little longer development. TheyThese are short, sweet erotica, with an overarching paranormal fantasy plot. I liked both but thought they both need a little longer development. They are bit short even for novellas though the overarc seems to save the story line and the bond (insta love) helps with the relationship. Of the two, Lian just seemed to have less direction. Roch seemed more involved.
I listened to this and the narrator pronounces New Orleans (new or-lee-ans), most southerners will say New or-leens or if actually from there Norlins, so every time she said the city name, I cringed with the extra syllable. These characters are from the area, not from the north....more

I mean I have been trudging through the last few books, skipping Quinn's Undying Rose, didn't have it, and not really enjoying any much since Gabriel's Mate. I wanted to read Thomas' book and I should have come straight to it. This one doesn't have as much of the predictable plot line as the plot line is not the main point, the romance is. The plot line is pretty straight forward, Thomas' sire's followers are in town creating havoc and want Thomas as their leader. Thomas has a controlled darkness in him, but it is right on the surface much of the time. Can one of the more powerful tip him to the dark side, and can his friends and possibly Eddie keeping him on the straight and narrow?
So we have been bombarded with the fact that Thomas is crazy about Eddie, only Eddie couldn't see it. All of Thomas' friends do because they know him from "before" Eddie. So a book back, Eddie over hears some friends "talking" about Thomas' attraction to Eddie and now Thomas and Eddie's relationship is an awkward friendship for Eddie. This is a GFY (gay for you) story were Eddie realizes that his attractions to females never were really strong and currently being around Thomas turns him on frequently. It is Eddie looking at his past, trying to blame his turning, and coming to terms with who he is attracted to. For Thomas it is wanting all of Eddie, not just the closet. It was done pretty well though the conflict in the end felt like a totally set up and the declaration not as heartfelt because it very well could have been forced due to the situation. I still think that the company is the worst "protection" agency with some of the lowest IQ employees. There was less of that but it was still a bit present.
So this was my last Scanguards Vampires. None of the other characters interest me and the way the stories are written, especially the last ones, doesn't appeal. This started as more erotic and the background story very secondary, actually this was a little more like that, but now there is usually some plot that I hate and past characters stepping on others feet. I'm glad this one was good, not great. And that the beginning of the relationship was hot, though the end was contrived, because my reading of it ended on a higher note than I thought it would....more
2 1/2 Well two captures that were just set ups made this just a so/so ending. There was no reason for the ending except as a set up. (view spoiler)[ To2 1/2 Well two captures that were just set ups made this just a so/so ending. There was no reason for the ending except as a set up. (view spoiler)[ To get rid of Francine (hide spoiler)] And to put tension for no good reason. (view spoiler)[ We know he is going to use turning to break the power of 3, I mean that was so obvious from the first mentioning of the power. Either one dies or turns vampire (but she holds that solution back for whatever reason) Why not just offer to turn to Samson ahead of the game? Oh, that would be too easy. Hey instead give all of them to the witch and just hope that you can beat her. And the witch must be very stupid to think the vampire cavalry would not be coming and take precautions. (hide spoiler)] The relationship between Yvette and Haven was really good until the end when it went from, "I'm going to make this just a fling, to, I want to stay with you forever, which just came too soon. She should have taken out some of the plot that didn't matter and put more of them accepting their attraction.
The erotic of these were more erotic with the sex starting sooner in the books before. I think because she has already built the world, she now wants to complicate the plot with multiple storylines but it is to simplistic to be great. Still I liked Haven and Yvette's relationship... up to the end.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>...more
