It is not essential to read the books in order, but there is a lot of background information that you gain by going in order. "Everblaze" throws you right into the story. Shannon Messenger does a good job reminding you what happened before without you even knowing it. The story is very involved which draws me into the fantasy work of the elves. Sophie Foster is the main character who was kidnapped and hidden away in the human world. She is an unusual 13 year old elf that has brown eyes. Most of the other elves have blue eyes. Sophie has many abilties, one of which she is a healer, another a Polyglot which allows you to speak in any language and lastly a telepath. She has the ability to read minds too. As a telepath, she is able to communicate with an alicorn she calls Silveny. The alicorn is the last female of its kind. So Sophie and Keefe are summoned by the Council to investigate why Silveny is acting strangely at the Sanctuary. Sophie is also a healer so she is asked by the Council to heal the mind of a criminal called Fintan that is currently in Exile from the elf community. Fintan's broken mind may have some of the answers hidden away that the Council feels would help the community. It includes possible information about the rebels, her kidnapping and a murder. Great story. Even if the book is 600+ pages, the story flows so that before you know it, you have reached the end and yearn for more.

Although its impossible that so many superstars would pick one small town to live is besides the point. In this story, Phoebe Kitzke is about to be put on suspension from her realtor's license. She helped her boss with some paperwork and paid dearly for it. Seems that Phoebe has a huge heart and at times people take advantage of it.
Her best friend, Maya, supports her unconditionally. Since Phoebe has one month before her suspension is over, Maya asked her to join her at a cattle drive that her ex-stepbrothers have set up. Since Phoebe hasn't had a vacation in a while she accepts. Phoebe gets talked into going in two days early to distract the head ranger - Zane Nicholson.
I liked the story because it was different. The people on the cattle drive included Gladys and Eddie, the grandmother types, a vegetarian couple, a couple looking to adopt and a couple orphans. There were a variety of sub-plots which made the story interesting. Phoebe has such a kind heart, not only to the downtrodden, but animals and plants. She talks to Manny, the head steer, when she gets confused about men and her horse, Rocky, when they are out in the plains. Lighthearted book that is an enjoyable easy read....more

I read the books in order so Maya Farlow was actually a supporting character in the previous book "Kiss Me". Maya was an executive producer in Los Angeles a few months ago and was not happy doing shows about entertainers' gossip. She wanted to report on hard facts, but she wasn't good in front of the camera.
In the previous book, "Kiss Me", she and her best friend Phoebe helped her ex-stepbrothers with a cattle run. Her friend Phoebe falls for Zane, Maya ex-stepbrother so all is happy. Mayor Marsha offers Maya a full time job doing promotional videos focused on tourism. The lead star for the video is extreme sports turned businessman, Del Mitchell. He happens to be Maya's ex-fiance and her ex-bosses eldest son.
The story begins with the uncomfortableness of them working together, but it is nice that throughout the book they learn about each other as adults in their late 20s instead of the teenagers that fell in love 10 years ago. It is an easy read and light hearted problems that at the end gets solved all around.

This is basically the 16th story and the town just gets better I love the stories that are connected to this little town of Fool's Gold, California. This is basically the 16th story and the town just gets better and better. There is always a beautiful girl and a handsome guy that is matched up and this book "Hold Me" is no exception.

I think if I was picked on as much as Kenny, I would move to another state. I am not sure if school is that bad or the author is over exaggerating. I hope for the sake of the kids that its the later.
Kenny is a good student or tries to be, but it seems like he is punished more than rewarded for being polite and respectable to adults. In particular there are several bullies that pick on him for being "Grandma's Boy" and getting an "A" on a book report. His grandmother was a former teacher and takes care of Kenny since his parents died.
I know the author wants us to fee sorry for Kenny, but his bad days kept getting worse and worse to the point where it didn't seem like he was going to get out of the hole he was digging himself in for lieing and being irresponsible....more

I think because the characters were This is the first book that I have read of Jane Porter. I didn't particularly care for her writing nor the story. I think because the characters were really believable and the dialogue seemed far fetched. The main character is a former model whose marriage of 17 years has fallen apart. Her husband left her for someone else.
She leaves New York and takes her 3 teenage kids with her. She is from a small town in Texas. Her brother passed away recently so she went there for the funeral and thought it would be good to be around family. Her problem is that her first love, Dane Kelly, strikes up a passion that she seems to not have left her when she left Texas the first time.
I think I had a hard time with this story because there were too many problems in this story. One was her separation from her husband, her brother being manic depressive, one of her sons showing signs of manic depression, a classmate of her son being in an abusive family, her mother being a strong baptist, and her 1st love being a 3 time bull riding champ. The book is less than 400 pages and it had a lot of ground to cover. I think if it was more believable, I could have related to it more.

Her father married a second time and this included a step brother, Ben and a 2 year old, Lydia.
