I never buy books from Walmart. I'd rather buy from a bookstore, but walking through Walmart the other day this book cover caught my eye. After reading and enjoying both Cain and Lamb this year, I decided I needed to buy this book right away. While not perfect, I don't think its the mindless action story some have made it out to be. Yes, the action is great. The fighting is violent. The deaths are gory. There is some depth in this story as well. One thing that bugged me was a small error calling sarah the mother of Isaac and Ishmael. I loved most of the characters. Herod matched how I always pictured him from my readings of the Bible. Makes me want to see what other books are in this biblical fiction genre as I have enjoyed all three books I've read thus far.(less)

Won this book through goodread first reads. Poor book, part way through I got distracted by midterms. It took me forever to read this book. Once midterms passed, it completely sucked me in. Not perfect, it did seem to rush to a conclusion that wasn't extremely satisfying, but I am nitpicking at a good book here. It seemed to leave a door open for a sequel(the Bishop?). I hope so. I love the first read program. I have received so many good books, here is another added to the list.(less)

I slowed my reading, just so I could make it last and take it all in. It took its time to get going, but in the best way possible. I probably never would have gotten this book if not for goodreads first read, but I am so glad I did.(less)

As a Christian, this book was pretty offensive. It's obvious the author was an atheist, and shows a hatred for God throughout. While offensive, I still found the book quite enjoyable. The lack of capitalization, puncuation, and paragraph breaks did not take long at all to get used to. I never really understood the whole time travel thing, but I am guessing it was like that to be able to end with the flood. Overall Cain is an enjoyable character, who you do feel some pity for from time to time.(less)

I had to see what all the fuss was about. I broke down and decided to give the hunger games a chance. Now I want to hurry up and read the next books, but I will wait until later this year. My only grievance is that it can get quite old with the love triangle do I love him or him or neither or him act. Must admit it started growing on me towards the end.
