There is plenty to love about this book and I can’t wait for more of this series as I loved Ava and Dyson !
Ava Walter is a woman who experienced more then her fair share of bad luck thanks to way life turned out of her. Her mother is no help and she raising her nephew Simon on her own with help from her friend Jillian as Simon’s father is long gone. She given up her dreams in order to provide for him and give him a better life . She is smart but working as a nurse is the only way to provide then so be it . Working at a doctor’s office, she leads an ordinary but tough life never expecting to cross paths with someone who she will have devastating affect on her life. However fate has other ideas.
Formula One has comes racing into Austin , Texas and she gets entangled into this world by chance. As it so happens her boss is a friend of the doctor of the team that Dyson Vix races for and the team Doctor has problems with his passport leaving him unable to join the team. Leaving the team needing a doctor and offer the job to her boss after he takes the Dyson’s and Macro’s physicals.
Unfortunately he can’t join them due to the last minute notice and offers up Ava his more then capable nurse. Leaving her in a rock and hard place as the job is a life saviour offering her much need funds. But then there is Dyson, the man she can’t get out of his head ever since his physical as there was undeniable attraction that she couldn’t shake. However he is the last one she wants to know, as his life is a mess. It might have to do with the fact he might have some fun with his groupies in the exam room or is because he is a bad boy who lives for the fast lane ?
Either way he is bad news but she can’t help desire him despite his actions. Plus the fact he is willing to go after her even what he did. Dyson might not care what he did in the exam room as it was harmless fun right. But he can’t get Ava out of his head and is offering to do things that he never would do for woman and wanting to know her better.
However it isn’t that easy as whilst she takes the position and Dyson woes wanting her to , a streak of problems pop up leaving her struggling to deal with life and Dyson who got his set of problems which seems to fall on Ava’s shoulders. Will they ever sort things out.
It may be a fast sport but this book isn’t any but a fast pace romance. The author does take the time to let us discover the characters and get a good grip on them. HOwver it feels more Ava’s story because Dyson his problems were clean cut. Ava seemed to get tangled into one thing or another and Dyson somehow also did. But she was the glue holding them together and the only peson who understood him. Scary considering that Dyson was all about being fast. The author messed these two perfectly together and
Surge is the first book I have read of this author and hopefully this won’t be the love as I love her brand of sport romance. I haven’t had an opportunity to read much car racing ones and Formula 1 was one I wanted to read as I’m fascinated by this sport and was curious to know. Thank you Sloane Storm for wrtitng this book and hopefully there will be more Formula 1 action in this series as there is a certain someone who looks like they are single just saying. . SO if you love fast cars and bad boys Fastline is the series for you! For more of my reviews, visit Confessions From Romaholics. And drop by the blog's Facebook page ...more
Reviewed @ Confessions From Romaholics Review copy kindly provided by Give Me Books in exchange for a honest review I must the admit the contradictingReviewed @ Confessions From Romaholics Review copy kindly provided by Give Me Books in exchange for a honest review I must the admit the contradicting title and cover drew me to this book. As obviously it was a paranormal romance and it looked like it was going to be about shifters, lion shifters to be exact. So why Dance with the Devil?
I only could assume that the hero/heroine was a bad person or one of the other ideas that crossed my mind. So I dove into the book expecting the typical normal paranormal romance but got anything but that. Dance of the Devil is to the story of two alpha lions hiding secrets. Jillian is a half breed with special powers who been hiding away from her pride in order to remain save. She is no ordinary woman and she regrets that she is forced to hide and wishes it can be anything else but that .
Until her father forces fate in order to changes things in the hopes of changing things for the Pride A place that she doesn’t best memories and she would rather stay where sh is . As whilst she has been gone in the hiding she has fallen with Carrick her boss a full blood shifter and she isn’t sure he will accept her considering that she is half breed to say the least. Not knowing that he is tied with her past and looks like her future as well.
Returning home after three years and discovering the man she loves is forbidden and that her return means that everything comes at a price. It should be no surprise considering the amount of shifter stories I have read over the years. However it did to an extent as this where the story got interesting. I was reading two stories at the same time , this book being one but this one had my interest .
There is a bit of a role reversal in this story. Carrick is such a sweet soul but happens to be a dominant with a secret that has cost him a lot. He is lucky that he had choices given his position in the Pride and the fact that he only there to support his younger brother who is the next alpha his pride unaware that home brings back to the one woman he can’t get out of his head
Jillian , a woman who knows the drill and knows that returning home isn’t going to be easy. Not expecting her Pride to be in shambles. She never lets anything her beat her. She faces a lot in the novel and everything is stacked against her and can’t help and admire this woman
The only let down it was missing the oomph I wanted, whilst there was plenty of action and twist and turns. I wanted the secondary characters stories to play out more fleshed in other books as they were intriguing and considering the dynamics. I wanted Jillian and Carrick’s relationship to be the starring role and them fighting to be the dominant . As whilst I loved that Jillian was deemed Alpha not because of her circumstances but the way she carried and act. I would of thought Carrick’s lion wouldn’t be so happy. As why all the fighting she goes through to prove herself when she herself stating she need someone would make her lion happy.
Reviewed @ Confessions From Romaholics Review copy kindly provided by Give Me Books in exchange for a honest review Ever so often you come across a booReviewed @ Confessions From Romaholics Review copy kindly provided by Give Me Books in exchange for a honest review Ever so often you come across a book so heartbreaking beautiful that you wonder whether this book will have an HEA. The Air that He Breathes, is one of those books. As from the moment you pick up this book and dive it there is undeniable rawness to this book. It captivates you as wonder what happened that led these characters to become who they are.
Tristan Cole is a young man embody the spirit of a old grouchy man. No one knows his story except that he is damaged. It doesn’t matter that he is a beautiful man, the bitterness has turned the small town away from her. Unaware he experienced total devastation a year ago and is a world of loss unable to comprehend the lost . He keeps to himself and that how he likes it, wanting to keep to himself and relive the memories.
Until Elizabeth moves home right next door and who is curious about this man as her first experience with him left a bad taste in her mouth. She thinks he overreacted over the accident of crashing her car right into his dog unaware he is the only reminder he has left of his family.
Never guessing that he has similar tale to tell of lost and hurt . Elizabeth only knows too well the pain he is in. About a year ago, the same devastation happened to her and she ran away to her mother to escape things. Despite knowing that her mother would be no help but wanting to focus only her adorable daughter Emma, the only light in her life. Now returning home to face things, she struggles to deal with the reminders she didn’t want to deal with and move on.
As she slowly resettle back down , in the small town. We watched her become more bright as she faces her demons with the help of her husband’s best friend and her best friend Faye. However Tristan is always in her head. As despite everything, she can’t feel kindred spirit to him. As his bitterness is something she can understand.
Told in dual Pov of view, the story definitely lives up to its name. The author slowly build these two up in stages watching them deal with the stages of grief they have left for so long and festered. Giving us as readers moments that you want to cry and/or cherish as we are taken on their journey.
Words can’t justify a story like this when it comes along. The only answer is to pick up the book for yourself and go through their journey yourself. If I could take every emotion that stems and lose and hurt and express it beautiful . This book does it and more. It will definitely give you the Feels and make you appreciate the small things in life. This one book not to miss if you want to experience a wonderful gripping book that will make your heart flutter. I’m totally torn still about this book
I had no intentions of starting thiReviewed @ Confessions From Romaholics Review copy kindly provided by Give Me Books in exchange for a honest review
I had no intentions of starting this book at 1 am in the morning. But it was Sophie aka Suds story and I wanted to know about more our favourite lesbian . And of course who couldn’t forget Rocca As everyone had just assumed facts about Sophie and I wonder how the author was going to make it plausible. When the facts where that Sophie had a girl and Switch was all about Rocca and her. As I know it not easy to do so when you only given certain facts about a character judge them that way. She was a memorable secondary character Strike for those reasons . You couldn’t help love her regardless of her situation and I was desperate to know why . It was time for answers and I thought about time as whilst I had no issues with Sophie. I wanted her to be happy and find out the truth. Switch was the book I was waiting for .
I thought I was going to get a light and breezy story from Ryder for her story. As we have two characters who are memorable for their quirks. Sophie and her snarkness which made her valuable friend who didn’t want to cross and Rocca his loud mouth. I thought it was going to be banter and all play.
I thought had been through the wringer enough this year with Sting. I WAS WRONG. As with all her characters, I knew these two were special. But I didn’t know how special these two would be. As behind the Sophie and Rocca large then life personalities that we have come to know. There were secrets , they were desperate to keep and hide from everyone. Eating away slowly at them, to the point that they were struggling to cope with the burden they have been forced to carry.
This book is set three months after Strike and back to a familiar world that was missed in the last book. Nothing much changed, Sophie is the still the same person we know , but her secrets are coming out slowly. From that moment just knowing that she had a tough run for such a deep reason. I knew then this book wasn’t going to be the easy breezy book I wanted. I should of stopped there and left it till morning.
However I was hooked. This book is not all dark, there is moments that will grip you heart and there is others that will have you laughing. A perfect balance of light and dark which suits the book considering all things as there is a lot that happens in this book that will have fans happy. These two characters will soon join the ranks of other Spark characters, characters that we can’t get enough
As Rocca, he is not the most appealing guy. He is a disserve to himself but how can he when he got the weight of the world on her shoulders thanks to his past. He become everything that he didn’t ever want to be caring about only three things. Woman, Tequila and bikes. It should be a turn off but the fact that he willing to give Suds a room, shows there is potential . That tiny potential knowing that Sophie is a just woman he can’t seem to get along with but wants to help her.
There something endearing about him and whilst he may have one idea on his mind by letting her move in. It soon becomes everything but as they recongised they are kindred spirits.
I keep saying this with every book to date ,this is the best book of Ryder’s to date. I have followed this author ever since I read Spark and I can’t get enough. There Is no holding back from this author now. Nothing is taboo in this book, the author will take you on a rollercoaster literally as this book never lets you take a breath to process until the very last page. It was perfect in every sense and whilst I didn’t get the book I hope for . I get it as this was perfect and should these character at their rawest. When hope was lost , everything destroyed and built them up again.
Fans of Soap Operas /Family dramas gatherReviewed @ Confessions From Romaholics Review copy kindly provided by author in exchange for a honest review
Fans of Soap Operas /Family dramas gather around. Looking for your new guilty pleasure that you can quickly devour with out a guilt. Then don't miss the Rising Storm series . It will definitely satisfy your needs and more if you love this sort of thing. I'm definitely hooked after the first episode of this season considering this was only the beginning and it was only introducing us to what was to come . That right there is already plenty more to come and I can't wait to dive into the next episode. In first episode Tempest Rising we are introduced to the town of Storm by Kenner one of the brainchilds behind this project. A small fictional town in Texas , it is one of those close knit towns where everyone knows each other. However there is a plenty of dirty laundry in this town and it all about to come tumbling out when one of its own returns and brings a storm with her setting off the town . It starts of like any other typical romance book, two individuals returning home from college. Ginny Moreno and Jacob Salt as they make the trip back home to Storm for the summer. However it quickly turns in a return they never saw coming leaves the town devastated and hurting. In those moments, the author quickly sets up the episode and the plot that will tie the whole season together. With the town reeling from the accident, Kenner seamlessly twists in the other characters as we get to know who our cast is going to be for this season. This when starts feeling like how it was marketed , a television drama episode. As there is a wide spread effect, the accident seems to have as we get to see everyone reactions and learn about secrets that these people carry some which were tied to the accident. . It not just adults running the show, there is a good variety of teenagers and races it seems who all have their own secrets and problems, from trivial to devastating . There is plenty to come it seems and it great set up for this season. The town of storm is live and well but well it be able to handle what is to come. I guess I have to keep reading to find out.
I still haven’t made my mind up wheReviewed @ Confessions From Romaholics Review copy kindly provided by Give Me Books in exchange for a honest review
I still haven’t made my mind up whether I like serials or not. I have only read a few by choice waiting instead the read the whole completed book instead of experiencing reading the book in the serial format. However I decided to take another chance as these books are quick and dirty reads that I can fit in between longer reads. So I decided to take a chance on an unknown author to me in the hopes of discovering a new author that I could add to my reading list.
Desire had great promise already for me prior to reading it. The synopsis promised tropes and clichés that I love. However the one thing that caught my attention the fact that is was a MC romance. I can’t get enough of this sub genre and every chance I get I read I won’t pass up .
As soon as I dove in , I was slight let down and hoped this would improve over the course of this book. I get the idea of serials but in this case I think it didn't hit the mark The blurb doesn’t nothing for the book as we only get glimpses of what the blurb promised. The author doesn’t end on a note I would expect. It just finishes a scene and that the end. There was no cliff-hanger or anything, there was nothing would scream to me I need to read the next serial or anything.
That why I can only give it 3 couples, the story was okay, there wasn’t anything exciting to make me sit up and take notice . It was basically setting things up for the series and giving us the dynamics.
