It's one that teaches them that we can overcome our fears! I adored this story and watching my child mimic the ROAR part made this Mamma proud. The illustrations are perfection and so beautiful, so much so that my son couldn't keep from touching them.
The story shows a child who is running from his fears and has a toy lion with him named Lionheart, but at some point Lionheart becomes real and not just a toy. This giant lion teaches the boy that to overcome your fears all you have to do is ROAR and have fun. I really enjoyed reading this book to my son, he has autism and is afraid a lot, so this has become one of our new things to say. Let's be brave like Lionheart. I would love to thank this fantastic author for bringing this book to life and sharing it with the world and my son. Also thanks to Scholastic for sending this to me for review, it's perfection.

To say that I was pleasantly surprised by this book is an understatement, I bought this book from Amazon due to an ad I saw on Facebook. Yep I actually did that. I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately and this book and cover just jumped out at me. I started reading it that very minute, well as soon as it downloaded onto my Kindle, and didn't stop till I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. I finished A Shade of Vampire the next night and bought the second book in the series right away. So yes, this is a book that I couldn't put down.
The main character in this book's name is Sofia and I really connected with her, she became my favorite right away. I haven't read a vampire book in awhile, like I mentioned above, and this one didn't disappoint. Sofia is kidnapped and brought to the Shade, as they call it, a place where a group of vampires live. She was meant to be part of the royal prince's harem, but when he wakes up from a long long sleep, he connects with her in a way that even he doesn't understand. Honestly, when he first wakes up in this book I could have sworn he was going to kill her right then and there and be done with it. That would have made for a very short book though....more

Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about everything else about this book that made me love it! Broken is a contemporary romance that I could read over and over again, but thankfully there are more stories/books in this series and we get more of these characters.
I came across Broken by Kelly Elliott on Goodreads, saw that a friend on there had read it and loved it, so I figured I would pick it up and see what I thought. Honestly, once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. Yes I know people say that all the time, but this is the truth. I cooked with my Kindle in my hand while reading this one. (No Kindle was harmed while reading this fantastic book!)

They've broke each others hearts before, sad at times, but this book was super sweet. I enjoyed seeing the journey these two great characters made together.
I will also say this, As You Turn Away was the perfect change for me, I needed something sweet to read and this was perfect for that. Now let's talk characters, both Quinnlan and Jonah were both very well thought out and fully fleshed characters. I really love how they both grow in this one. You can see it as you read and that is really important for me when reading any book.

Wish I could start the next one in the series right now, but seeing as it was a TBR take down book, I don't have a chance to at this time. But you better believe I will be started the next one in the series as soon as I read these other four books.)
The world author Ann Aguire built for this book is fantastic, they end up living under ground because they were told that the world above was a waste land full of monsters, that to me seem more like zombies, but that's probably because I love zombies right now. There are many other strong characters in this book and I loved the friendships that Deuce has in the beginning and the ones she builds throughout the story. I'm really not sure I could live in the cave like they did though or follow the rules that they had to follow. No touching and no matting unless that was your job. In that part this book kind of reminded me of The Giver, but there is so much more action in this book than most dystopian books I've read....more
