Peter is quick, daring, and full of mischief—and like all boys, he loves to play, though his games often end in blood. His eyes are sparkling gold, and when he graces you with his smile you are his friend for life. He appears to lonely, lost children—the broken, hopeless, and sexually abused—promising to take them to a secret place of great adventure, where magic is alive, and you never grow old. But his promised land is not Neverland… .
I watched the movie “Peter Pan” (2003) which is starred by Jeremy Sumpter, and its one of my favorite movies of all time. And made me wonder more about Peter Pan, of how he brings children to Neverland, with all the promises of fun and joy, the life they always wanted without the disturbance of the adults, and of course, never growing up.
I googled some stories that inspired Peter Pan, there were many, but a certain book title caught my attention. It was this, “The Child Thief” by Brom. And when I read the summary, found out how wicked Peter is here, I absolutely went to the bookstore to get a copy.
The Child Thief is one hell of a grim retelling of Peter Pan. In this book, the Peter Pan we all know here that is fun, lovely prankster, loves to play games is very different from the Peter here in “The Child Thief”. Sure Peter loves to play games, but the difference is, Peter’s games mostly end up in death. He actually has a way of getting the kids to come to the so-called Neverland (which is called Avalon) with him. And not just any kids, but the sad, abused, harassed, tortured or what we call the “lost” kids. He saves them, earns their trust, tells them that there’s a world out there where you can have fun, with no adults allowed, and of course, never growing up. But these kids that he somewhat “kidnapped” LOL doesn’t know what lies ahead. And doesn’t know what awaits them.
I loved the book, I must say sometimes I’m a fan of books that are sweet, the ones that end up in a happy ending, mostly romance, but sometimes I love reading books which leaves people having nightmares everytime they read it. This book is one of them. It gives you that chill in the spine and you can actually feel what is happening page by page, you can feel the blood gushing through the arm, the throats that had been slit, with all the gurgling sound that makes you shake. I loved it, very much until the last page. And the cool part is, there are pages full of art drawing all made by Brom, so you guys can imagine what the important characters looks like. :)
What are you waiting for? Go grab a copy and see if you can handle Peter’s games.

I just read this overnight and I think its the first time I read that fast, or maybe its because the book isn’t that thick at all. I love this book, I’ll rate it 5 stars. I’m a big fan of fairytale stories since I was little, like I re watch all Disney princesses movies all the time and now that I’m older, I watch it again! Sometimes with my little cousins who loves and adores it as much as I do, then I kept thinking about what if fairytales like this can be done in real life? (yeah right, with magic and stuff) And the romance! I love the whole idea! Alex Flinn, she did a great job in turning these classic fairytales into reality, especially the romance. Beastly is successful, just watched the movie and its WOW. But kinda disappointing because its not the way it turn out in the movie as it is in the book but what can we say? Movies are always like that, so don’t expect much.
Okay, back to the review. All I’m saying is that I FELL IN LOVE WITH JACK AND TALIA. (they’re the main characters) If Beastly follows the story of “Beauty and the Beast” , well “A Kiss in Time” follows “Sleeping Beauty”. Great story plot, romantic and funny, you’ll enjoy it, and feel like its real. What if you do kiss a girl which turns out to be three hundred years old? What would you do? Its very believable which turns out to be an exciting read.

Along The Ride is a great book to read for summer, well, because the story’s setting was on a beach, and indeed it was summer. Its about a girl named Auden who’s practically spends her summer with her father and his new family, her parents got into a divorce and as it is, both of them is pretty fine with it. Then she meets some wacky group of friends who is actually far from her personality, but still got along with her. Met an unusual boy, named Eli, who has a sad past and is very mysterious and secretive.

Thanks for the Memories is an unusual story about a connection between two people in different worlds, Joyce and Justin. Joyce, just survived a terrible accident which leads to losing the baby she has, also having a troubled marriage which is now in pieces. On the other hand, Justin, a divorced father, living with his daughter Bea and his brother Al, is a lecturer about Art in a university in Dublin, Ireland. He meets an attractive doctor and persuades him to donate blood. Meanwhile, Joyce received a blood transfusion because she lost a lot of blood in the accident. After a few days, she senses an overwhelming deja vu about different things and she feels like her life is not her own.
I must say, this book is really amazing. I love how Cecelia Ahern makes this story a big twist about love and truth. The connection between Joyce and Justin throughout the pages, its like they’re twins that when someone feels something, the other feels the same, even though they’re in a different time and place. They’re connected and they’re not even related to each other. I love the concept of the story. For me, its more of a mystery and finding out the truth other than romance. Well, there is romance, but its not really the highlight of the story. Its also like a race to find each other’s destiny. Soulmates? I guess yes. That’s how you can define Justin and Joyce at the end of the story. When you get to the climax, I swear, you would love to spend hours to know what’s gonna happen next. Its an entertaining read. I really enjoyed it.

Chasing Brooklyn tells the parallel stories of Brooklyn and Nico, as they cope with mutual losses. The story takes place one year after the death of Lucca — Brooklyn’s boyfriend and Nico’s brother. As the story begins, Brooklyn and Nico are faced with another unexpected loss — the overdose death of their mutal friend, Gabe.
I must say this story is beautifully written. One of the lovely prose poetry I’ve read in my entire life. I love the way the story goes, from the beginning to the end. It has the most complex situations, with complex emotions, both can’t seem to fit in, but had a great part in the story. Mixed emotions…grief, sadness, dealing, hope, healing, dreams and love. The book is very haunting actually, with such great words, Lisa Schroeder did a wonderful job in making this book. I’m looking forward to read some of her books again sometime. :)

With her best friend, Mike, who helped her a lot ever since the death of her husband made her feel that its time for her to love again, and she has that feeling its going to be Mike. Then the story goes by, and she met a guy named Richard who she thought is perfect because of his features; handsome, tall, a great engineer and she also thought who is a nice guy. They dated but it never worked for Julie so she ended it (since actually nothing really is happening) a couple of dates, going to the movies, kissing in the porch, but it meant nothing to Julie in the end. Mike however, was truly in love with her, no doubt, he’s her best friend. Okay…well mostly I’m about to tell the whole story but practically this is how it goes: Julie fell in love with Richard, but it didn’t work and Richard became upset because he still likes Julie, as a matter of fact, he’s obsessed with her. Then Mike and Julie confessed their love for each other, and they found out that someone is stalking Julie. You know who that is.
To be honest, I’ve never read ALL of Nicholas Spark’s books. I’ve only read The Lucky One, A Walk to Remember, and The Notebook. As well as I’ve watched all of the movies pertaining to his book, which are truly amazing. And, I’ve realized that he made an awesome job mixing both romance and danger in an entire novel which kicks off as a thriller. Creepy and scary, dangerous and unsafe. Nicholas Sparks gave a twist in a new romance thriller. I’m nor used to it, but certainly its one of my favorite books next to A Walk To Remember and The Lucky One when it comes to Nicholas Sparks. (I’ll be making a book review too about The Lucky One soon)

It’s about the Cordelle sisters; Kit and Fancy. Living their life as normally as it would be, for they are known as the Bonesaw Killer’s daughters, the most bloody murderer I town. Kit and Fancy, are hardly the oddest or most dangerous creatures around town. They love to kill, knives are their accessory and toys, they love to collect body parts, open people’s bodies like they’re giving them a surgery. It’s a hobby, it’s just for fun.
These two girls aren’t the kind of people you wanna mess with, or else, you’ll be dead meat. They’re mysterious and beautiful, hot sisters. (But hell, looks can be deceiving) and always have that desire to kill, and murder, like it’s just nothing. Fancy and Kit have very different personalities; Kit is very arrogant, smart and always acts as the boss. She has the loud voice and the one who’s always the first to cut, slice people’s bodies. She’s more evil than Fancy. She dresses like she’s going to parties and get laid. While Fancy is the total opposite. She has that sweet voice like a small kid. She dresses small clothes and looks like a doll. She’s very calm, reserved and quiet. But the truth is, Fancy is much evil than Kit. Read the book to know why, like I said, looks can be deceiving.
First and foremost, I loved the cover. Its very mysterious and at the same time it tells a dark, witty story. For me I love books that are filled with mystery, horror and suspense. But I never loved books that’s all about vampires and werewolves and fallen angels…whatever. I hate those kind of books. It shifts my mind into something that is so unraveling and simply…weird. I never loved it, just like Twilight, Fallen, whatever, etc. So this book is just sitting in the corner of some shelves while I was shopping for books two weeks ago and I got interested a lot. Since its about ghosts, its a bit not-what-I-like book, but I purchased it anyway, and I’m happy I did.
Well, I can say that the book really is intriguing. This book was as much a historic delight as a ghost story delight. There’s some romance too, with Rebecca and Anton, and some moments where she spend most of the time with Lisette, learning different things about New Orleans and the rich people who lives there. Paula Morris is a great writer because she did that balance between horror, suspense and romance, in a better, orderly manner. Its a great read, and I really recommend this book to those who doesn’t want to be scared much but wants to enjoy.
Ruined was exciting at times, frightening at others, and often oddly interesting. It’s nicely written and organized well, and it’s certainly the kind of book that could be an absolutely scrumptious read at night!

This novel is a real page-turner. I can say its very interesting and exciting. This book is not about ghosts and other paranormal stuff but its about someone who died….actually no, someone whom they thought, was already dead. For eight years. Wow that was a long time, but its true. The story runs through Dr. David Beck, now a widow because of her wife was taken eight years ago in a terrible accident that just happen in an instant, Two murdered men are found near the lake where his wife was abducted. Since then, he never saw her, and never got any connection from her. He went to her funeral and everything. But since then, Dr. Beck never lost his feelings for her and his love remains the same.
Well, I can say, it’s one of my favorites. All of his books are wonderful as well,...moreOne word I can describe this book: LOYALTY.
What can I say about it?
Well, I can say, it’s one of my favorites. All of his books are wonderful as well, but this book seems to show how love can live in each other’s hearts even though it’s been years and far apart. This book mainly talks about two lovers who got reunited after twenty-five years later, the guy never loved anyone else except for Amanda even though she already has her own family. The ending is a shocker actually, since we all know that Nicholas Sparks always has that quirky detail of putting things around in which we will more participate. To be honest, I actually cried when reading this book, all because of the love they shared for each other was truly special.
After reading the book, you guys will realize why “The Best of Me” is the perfect title for the book. How love always captivate our hearts and how God sometimes turn things around without notice. Even though how many years have gone by, love will never fade, seeing true love in its simplest form and believing in it.

Truly one of my favorites. The creepiness of the photos included in this magnificent book just connects everything that is written on it. Great collaboration of the pictures, even though they’re not real, but it looks so realistic, as if its really in the story as well. Ransom Riggs did a great job in this book, I never want to put it down! I spent a whole night reading this and I finished it for 3 days straight.
First of all I was really intrigued by this book. I first discovered it in a book blog I’ve always been visiting, it’s Stacey from Pretty Books. I found out that she made a review about it, along with a link to a Youtube trailer of the book. I read her review and I think it was totally believable and interesting at the same time. So I watched the book trailer and it was superb! I can say that it’s totally one of the books I must have on my bookshelf. So I really wanna have it. All thanks to her blog.
I rate this absolutely 5 STARS.
I recommend you guys to read it! I love it so much! Especially if you guys want to read some mystery and add a little creepiness/horror (I think) it’s a great book you’ll really wanna have!

Awww this book pierced by my heart a thousand times! This was the second time I’ve read it, and my ratings went up from 4 to 5. I just had this sudden realization that this book can affect the hearts of many, and indeed it is realistic. Realistic in a way that even though this most likely happened in the 19th century, it is still possible to be attached to people nowadays.
What I dearly love about this book is that it teaches us about time.
What if you fell in love with someone so much you will do everything for them and fight the world just to be with that person? But when your family told you that you are thinking too much and you are making the right decisions to change your life and it might affect your reputation that you must leave the person you love? Anne Elliot’s love for Mr. Wentworth became like this. They were so in love until Anne’s relative persuaded her not to marry Mr. Wentworth because they think he is not worthy for her.
Then after 8 years they meet again.
Anne felt the deepest regret in her whole life, that is, leaving Captain Wentworth brokenhearted, now she has to see him again with all the ladies falling head over heels with him. Now Anne comes face-to-face with the deep regret of her old decision, and her abiding love for Wentworth, as she wonders if a long ago love can be rekindled.
It’s pretty sad. I felt how she tried to contain herself from all the feelings she felt ever since. Every time she sees him, all her feelings kept rushing back so fast, her heart thickens every time she meets him, even if they only said a few words and very little exchanges of glances.
I feel Anne in her suffering towards her love for Captain Wentworth. And indeed, we all can relate to her. Loving someone, but both of you separated because it is the wrong time, that quotation of “Falling in love with the right person at the wrong time” is profoundly a fact. I think it works well with everyone. But to do justice, it’s practically efficient to think realistically otherwise both will die of regret.
I cried. I always cry at period dramas. Especially at Jane Austen’s books.
In the lovers of this book, they show a compatible emotion that they shared eight years ago and thinking that those feelings might still be felt until now. I mean like imagine, 8 years? 8 years have freakin passed and almost every thing changes! Your looks, your likes and dislikes, your ways, well not always but come to think of it, it is a very long time! How can you still retain your feelings for that person?
Unless, you loved that person so much you think of them every time you wake up and they’re also the last person that comes into your mind before you sleep. You imagine them with you, all the wandering, all the bittersweet memories you try to forget but you just cannot because deep down, with all the denial you do it would not work. Simply because you still love that person, that love that never fades until the day grows old.
They realized that love can never change even though time passes. Indeed it is a very strong love, one that can defy everything against all odds. In the future, they will try to see if their feelings are still mutual, not to be trashed and not to be blamed. I feel that love is very beautiful and honest.
Love waits. And that I am very jealous.
Why did I chose time as my word of description? Time plays a very underrated role in the book and even though it doesn’t seem to show in pages, time plays a very important role for the situation.
It simply shows that time can change things, make people change but feelings, are hard to disguise. If the truth shows, the denial weakens. You may only see it through the person’s eyes, and the person’s eyes only.
Obviously this is a romance novel, but what differs to me about what Jane Austen did was to show how much she criticized the world before in ways where a women must be beautiful and youthful enough to marry and not end up like an old maid. But besides from that, she created a wonderful love story in between. (less)
