I can't wait for its next installment to be released!! Becca Fitzpatrick is one of my favorite authors. Her amazing talent in putting together an angel/fallen angel/nephilim story intreges me.
Out of all the authors who attempt a story with this kind of basis, it can be hard to not sound repetitive and have trouble reaching the audience. Not for Ms. Fitzptrick. She had my full attention, making me read page after page with no stop.
I had the hardest trouble putting it down, going to sleep with it still lingering in my thoughts. I kept wondering: will she ever be able to have a relationship with Patch? And there it is...the subject of Patch. Patch is *uhem* smoking hot, of-the-charts- hot!!! His whole bad boy presence: black hair, dark eyes, black shirt, black jeans and black boots!!! H-O-T!!!!! I can't wait to get more of him in his next book: Silence I got to give props to Nora Grey too. Her character is a strong but also confused/needy girl. I loved her but I normally always love the main female character. There have only been a couple who claim the title of my "annoying, dislike list".
She loves Patch and can't stand the thought of living her life without him(and I can't blame her) She has been in ever up and down a relationship has. Her exeption being it is because of the archangels, and nephilims getting in their way, and I wouldn't really consider that normal.
Oh, and who can forget about her best friend Vee? Hahaha I can't help but laugh with Vee! She is such a fun, outgoing, and dare-devil of a friend. She is always there for Nora and will do anything for her. That means sneaking around to find information, helping her steal their arch-enemy's diary, and plenty more. She talks with such wit you can't help but bust up at her lines.
All in all, again, I absolutely loved this book and suggest it to all who read. *Do buy the first one before reading this one lol. It was such an ingenious book with the spin of romance, conflict, thrills, with a cool fallen angel twist. It's on my shelf, that's for sure. Never in a million years would I ever doubt my judgement on reading these books!! :D(less)

The Hush, Hush Sage quickly climbed its way to my favorites list. Becca Fitzpatrick is an amazing, talented, and genius writer! Her style and imagination is incredible and breathtaking. I loved everything about these books: the characters, plot, scenery, and everything in between.
Another thing she is amazing at....spin-offs. After reading the end of the second book I knew stuff for Nora and Patch were going to get rough but I wasn't expecting what she gave. I was completely speechless after seeing the book trailer. And then nothing could have prepared me for the ending!! AH! Definitely a cliff-hanger. Don't worry though it wasn't as bad as the second but still a big "leave-you-hanging-ending". Miss Fitzpatrick gave you everything in this book: mystery, emotion, and enough of Patch to keep us all happy hehe.
Patch. Oh, this hot bad boy has got it all and in this book you are let into the more emotional and vulnerable side of him which just made me fall even more with this sexy fallen angel. Patch would do anything for Nora and can't stay away from her. That ending of the second book? How cute was that?!?! :D *sighs and melts into pieces* And the hot sexy tension between them despite the beginning circumstances. I tried to keep this review as spoiler free as possible and to keep it that way I can't say much more. So....you are going to have to go and just pick up a copy of these books and see for yourself. :)
Love this series! It's hot, sexy, thrilling and a major page turner!! I HIGHLY recommend these books to everyone who is willing to read. Purely amazing!!! You will find yourself devouring these books like I have. I can't wait for the final book! (less)
Meghan Chase was just a normal teenage girl struggling with the drama of highschool...or so so she thought. She is actually a half-summer fey of the Summer court. Not only is she part fey but a fey princess, daughter of King Oberon. Julie expertly throws in facts, stories, and characters from A Midsummer's Night Dream.
After her half-brother is taken she dives into the world she has never known other than a fairy-tale. Her best friend is not who she thought he was but the infamous Robin Goodfellow, court jester to King Oberon. Along the way she runs into Ash, the winter prince, third son of Queen Mab. A hot fey who Meghan quickly falls for but their love is forbidden. A summer fey and winter fey are to never mingle. They are eternal enemies not to be fraternized with. But who can deny destined love. Ash was to never love again but even he, being an emotionless; cold-hearted fey, can't push away his feelings. Puck, Meghan, and Ash all set out to find Ethan, Meghan's little brother, from the hands of the Iron Court. The very people who can be the downfall to the oldbloods. Stakes are higher than ever and danger is waiting at every corner.
I had so much fun reading this book and re-read it twice before I got the second one. I recommend these books to every one who loves a bit of love conflict, suspense, emotional ties and a whole lot of sexy! :)(less)

Meghan chase is now in the Unseelie Court due to her contract with the winter prince, Ash. The Winter Court is the last place any summer fey would like to be. She is constantly pestered by a pukka. Her feelings for Ash have to be hidden for showing them can mean eternal torture or even worse...death. Not to mention Ash, after everything they had been through together, is being even more far and aloof than when they first heart which crushes poor Meghan's heart.
Oh! and to make matter's worse... the season scepter has been stolen!! Now Meghan, Ash, and Puck set out on another adventure to find it but Ash stops short and brakes away from the group promising Meghan he would never see her again. Now her heart is in pieces but Puck is there to pick them up and try to meld it back together. Matters take an unexpected spin and erupt into chaos. Will Meghan and Ash's love pull through? Will the sceptor be returned in enough time to stop the war? The Iron kingdom is at its peak as a new king comes into play.
I loved seeing everything ravel into pure chaos and then slowly unravel as everything is playing out. I loved seeing Meghan and all the characters grow throughout the book and Puck never manages disappoint with his humor and surprise! his romance!! oo la la!!! *wiggles eyebrows* Speaking of never disappointing me.... Ash (despite his cold shoulder) made me swoon countless times throughout the book. I am with Meghan on my heart beat picking up speed every time his name is mentioned! I devoured this book in a days time! Breathtaking and suspenseful! LOVED IT!! :D(less)

So...moreOriginally posted at http://girlzandtheirbooks.blogspot.co... OK, I know I've said this before but it's really rare that I read a book I don't like. So: Omigod!!!! Ugh words can't express how much I loved this series!! I was on a road trip and we stopped at Wal-Mart to get a few things so I decided I wanted to get a book to read. When I went to the book section it was between the Iron Fey Series or Rick Riordan's new series. I was torn because I could have gotten either a series that was already finished (Iron Fey [so I thought at least]) or a series that just started (The Last Hero of Olympus). I put Riordan's book in the basket and at the last minute switched it with The Iron King. BEST.DECISION.EVER!!! I seriouslu can't stress enough of how much I love these books. They quickly became my favorite books I have ever read.
Everything about this series screams out amazing!! The whole world of the Neverever is beautiful and enticing. The Iron Fey has all the makings of a great series. It is dark, sexy, and even a bit humorous (favor of Robin Goodfellow). Julie Kagawa was just pure genius in her writing. She put together an awe-inspiring world with similarities to A Midnight Summer's Dream.
I also loved reading about the characters as they grew together and came out of all their trials despite their differences.
Meghan Chase was just a normal teen struggling to survive high school when she is forced to embrace her true heritage as a half-fey-half-human girl , daughter of King Oberon, because of her brothers kidnapping (The Iron King). Then as soon as she gets back she is again forced back to the Neverever but this time as a captive in the Unseelie Court because of her contract with the third Prince of the Unseelie Court, Queen Mab's son. Now she goes back again to help save the dying Neverever. A journey she might not even survive.
Throughout the books she grows tremendously from a clueless half-summer fey, to a heartbroken girl who longs for Ash and struggles to stop a war between the courts, to a determined young-women who will do anything and everything to save the world she has come accustomed to. You know the normal everyday trials a teenage girl goes through haha. I really liked Meghan. by the third books she is so head strong and determined she would do anything to save the Neverever and the ones she loves the most.
Ash, the third son of Mab, the queen of the Unseelie Court. Wow...what to say, what to say. Man, words just aren't enough when it comes to this hot winter prince. At first he is so shut off and uncaring that he kind of bugs the crap out of you but as you read on you realize that icy exterior was just a mask for the tortured soul that just longs to be loved again. After losing his first love he promise to kill his once best friend Robin Goodfellow to avenge her death. He ends up falling for Meghan and gripping your heart too. Ash is so very dreamy, loving, sexy, hot, smoldering....and the list goes on. His sweet-nothings and his undying love has me in a trance.
Puck, Oh, Puck. Man, I love him too!! He is so uber hilarious with his witty lines and care-free attitude. He is Meghan Chase's best friend and secret protector by order of King Oberon. As time went on Puck ended up falling hard for the Seelie princess. He will do anything and everything for her. Fight till the death, disobey King Oberon, get himself exiled...maybe even take a bullet??? Everything about Puck is funny loving and care-free I absolutely loved him too.
This whole book is about Meghan trying to save the Neverever from fading away due to the presence of the Iron Fey who are formed by the human dreams of technology and advancement. Iron is the Fey's deadly weakness that very well may be the downfall of it all. Because of Meghan's human blood she is the only one who can touch iron without it causing any damage to her. She doesn't fall back at the knowledge that by following through with this even she might not survive. No, she puts aside her selfish reasons and pride to help the people who at one point wanted her dead, who saw her as nothing but a weakling who could be played around with. The ending was completely unexpected. I hated it and then loved it. Julie beautifully crafted all the emotion making you feel every hurt, laugh, happiness, and tragedy.
I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone who enjoys suspense, love, humor, faeries, and some magic. I again will say absolutely in love with these books. Honestly this third book had me crying and not just simple crying like balling, having to read out load to just finish the book crying. She did a beautiful job. It was epic and enthralling. I re-read it over an over again loving it...then hating it all over again. Thralling over each heart-fluttering and heart-wrenching line...And now I just wait...wait for the fourth and final book in the series. Ash's story about him trying to over come the the barrier that lays between him and Meghan. To get his happily everafter.....Damn I can't wait any longer!! It's killing me!! :/ (less)
HOLY CRAP!!!!!! >Those were the first words that came to mind after reading this amazing book! I have enjoyed these books sooo much and am SO very sad that they finally ended. These were the books that are responsible for awakening my book obsession!
Julie Kagawa knows how to create the most beautiful, exciting, thrilling, emotional book and characters! I loved watching each individual character grow and capture my every thought and make me feel their every emotion. I was sooo excited to receive this book and when I finally received it I completely devoured it!
Normally when you read the last book in a series you are left with disappointment because you had such high expectations. I have experienced this many times before. As for this book...this was not the deal with this one. This book actually managed to exceed all my expectations!! Gosh I don't know what else to say. I will either repeat myself or well, no I don't know enough words to express how amazing this book was, how amazing this series was!!
Julie is definitely one of my favorite authors of all time. Not only because of her ability to develope the best characters but with her ability to make you feel every heart wrenching moment, every heart quickening moment, make you so angry you end up switching teams then go back again. I have always been able to pick my teams easily but with these characters: Ash the hot, forbidden, quiet, hurt Ice Prince the last son of Queen Mab of the Unseelie Court and Puck the hilarious, sweet, protective, outgoing, court jester to King Oberon of the Seelie Court!! I am Team Ash but I will always love Puck he is constantly making me laugh and hurt for him.
Meghan becomes such a strong character that I love and really really missed. This book is from Ash's point of view and even though I loved reading his every thought, his past, and his mixed emotions I did miss Meghan.
This book is about Ash's journey to find and earn a human soul that he can be with Meghan Chase who is now the Queen of the Iron Kingdom, a place Ash can not go. Iron is lethal to to fae. Ash would surely die without a soul. I loved the unexpected turn in those who accompany Ash on this journey. Although, I hated one specific thing that happens but I won't give that away.
The imagination in this books is unbelievable. You get a darker and scarier view of the Neverever as they all journey deeper and deeper to the end of the world. Unexpected twists and turns keep you guessing. Ash's struggles have you hurting for him. And most of all I loved to get a taste of Ash and Puck's past. They are so cute and lovable!! You know that no madder what they care about each other. :)
The ending...man the ending....I loved the ending!! It was so sad and breathtaking, and well you are just going to have to read it for yourself. hehehe
Nothing can express my happiness and joy after reading these books!! Each character has a special place in my heart and forever will!!
To Ash my first love! To Meghan an awesome chica who I am completely jealous of. To Puck the amazing and hilarious prankster who I love! To Julie who is the genius I look to for inspiration!! To every little character who plays an important role in everything! And to the series itself that captured me in every way, took my breath away, encourage me to read non-stop and I regret for ending!! I cried, I laughed, I got angry, I cried again and again and again!! *Sigh* I don't know what else to say.....
Here is to the amazing Iron Fey Series and Julie Kagawa!! I am looking forward to the awesome spinoff and Julie's new series!! Come sooner!!! :D Hope you enjoyed my review...sorry it was so long but so much needed to be said!! (less)
This was definitely a change from all the books I have read. But that is a good thing! :) Normally books stick to one creature of the paranormal: a book about werewolves, a book about vampires, a book about the fey, etc. Not this book. This book had them all! Even the ones you don't really read a lot about.
After attending a high school party with her friend and the cops show up Kylie is sent to Shadow Falls Camp, a camp for "troubled" teens. One exception, these teens are not troubled at all they are just....different..... paranormal different. All the creatures of the paranormal find refuge at this camp. At first Kylie hated the camp. She called the people there freaks. Little did she know she was one of these "freaks".
Throughout the beginning of the book she can't stand being there, hating her roommates, hating her mom for sending her there, well just plain out hating being there! But she has no choice, she has to stay there till it ends...at the end of summer. Crappy right?? Not necessarily, little by little she comes to like her roommates, forget her ex by spending some time with, half-fey, Derek and, childhood friend(their past is complicated) who is also a werewolf, Lucas. And she can't hellp but fall for both of them.
Derek is so sweet and really cares for Kylie. He is totally drool-worthy cute and man does he have a rockin bod! (what is it with these fey boys huh?). Then there is Lucas, the one from her childhood who punched the street bullies for picking on her and from that day on walked her home just to make sure she was ok and that those mean 'ol bullies never hurt her again!! Awwe! Cute right?? Oh, and he also has a rockin bod! (what's with these werewolfs too?...psh I just fall for all those paranormal boys!) Honestly I don't know which one I like more. Once I decide the other ends up making me like him more and so the cycle repeats!
The rest of the book revolves around her boy issues, and her identity crisis. It has been decided that Kylie is one of them for sure but what exactly is she? No one can see her brain patterns, it's blocked but not intentionally. What family member has the paranormal genes? And what's up with this soldier constantly following her? What does he want and why won't he just go away?
This book is full of twists and turns. It keeps you guessing and making you guessing yourself. I constantly made different situations and possibilities but once I thought I got it right...nope! WRONGO!!!! And in the end.....you still don't get the question of what she is answered!!!! Now I know what you are thinking: Well then what's the point in reading it? Where would the plot be? That seems like it would be boring and a waste of time?....Stop!!! rewind!! no if you are thinking that then think again! This books was worth the read. I will warn you: this book contains alot of physical attraction, wants, and it can be a 'lil detailed but not to much where it makes you feel uncomfortable or anything. It just played alot with the teenage hormone thing lol. But again don't let that sway you away! No. No. Bad!! Don't do that! *gives stern look*
So go pick this book up and enjoy the mystery and suspense!! I really, really liked how C.C. Hunter brought all the paranormal together! (Man, I've been using that word alot in this post: paranormal) haha Yupp! So there you have it! Hope I was helpful! Thanks for stopping by!! :D(less)
Evermore is about a girl who lost everything, her family, her home, most of her memories, her popularity, and her normalcy after a terrible car accident. She woke up in the hospital seeing people's auras and being able to read their thoughts and life story in one touch. And when she moves in with her aunt, an unmarried women with no kids and a busy schedule, she has to start all over again. New school, new friends, and a new level on the high school food chain. She is now labeled as a freak. Ever can't help but blame everything on herself and ask one question over an over again: "Why me?" Now when new kid Damen Auguste moves into town and is adamant about getting her attention, which who wouldn't mind that! He is totally HOTT!!, her life takes another twist. Ever and Damen have a past. A past that will take a lot of patience to understand. Secrets will be revealed and love is undeniable but will she be able to survive it?
Ok so this is kind of an old read but I wanted to still do a review of it. So the whole series is out FYI!! :) Honestly, I really like the first book! Ever is insecure and normally I really hate those type of characters. I tolerated her in the first book because of Damen. Oh Damen!! I really liked him! He was uber cute, mysterious, and a trouble maker. Everything about this first book I liked. After reading this one I bought the second, which I thought was ok.
I decided to by the third, hoping it would get better and I would be drawn in more but sadly, it failed me. I didn't continue buying this series and didn't even finish. I stopped at book three. Ever got to annoying, Damen lost his likableness, the plot went down hill and splattered. I think I might have like them more if she wouldn't have dragged on so much.
Yes, that's it. Alyson Noel just dragged these books out to far. She would have been better of with just a trilogy. I felt like she didn't know what else to write about so she just made it up as she went. I loved the "evil boy" in this book! She did a good job at that. I am giving this book four stars because I really liked this book!!
If you like an immortal story of love and loss then pick it up at maybe like the library or borrow it from someone! Who know you might really like this series! but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I hate to ever stear anyone away from reading a certain book and try to stay positive but sometimes there is only so muh you can say. My summary: Great first book in the series! Fill free to try it out and see what you think but beware of some pot holes! (less)

You got an insight of Puck and his real thoughts and emotions. What he really feels, thinks, and wants to do. Here he has to assist Ash in a way he could never do himself. And Puck has a difficult desision to make: help poor ice boy or use him to betray him so he could be with Meghan. He even gets permission from King Oberon himself! This was big!! I wanted to slap Puck so freaking hard during this read....but thats all I am saying. I defintetely recommend these novellas if you have read the series...and even those who haven't yet then... STOP WASTING TIME GO PICK ALL OF THESE ASAP!!!! hehe well only if you want to...who am I to force it upon you? (less)

It takes place right after the first book giving you an insight on what happened on their trip to the winter court. Their journey has been pretty smooth sailling except for Meghan's effect to the coldness there but other than that it was pretty good that is until the Big Bad Wolf shows up, literally. You know the one who stalked little Red Riding Hood, the immortal one? Ya that one. He was sent by King Oberon to save Meghan from Ash. Ash and him get into a bloody battle...bum..bumm....bummm.... Loved this little insight!!(less)
Werewolves??? HOTT! haha I honestly had never read a werewolf book and this was the perfect book to get started on. Andrea Cremer's writing was a little bit off at sometimes: jumping from one event to the other, not fully explaining something, and it could being really confusing but it the end she always pulled througgh. Everything was eventually explained. I loved the world she created and the background she based it off of. Oh and the cover!!! *sings in a high (on pitch) not&* BEEE(a)-UUUTIFUL!!!
Calla had been lied to her whole life. They were taught that the Searchers were the enemies, love was decided for them, that they (the Keepers) only wanted what was best for them. But no, all they wanted was power, the Guardians ( werewolves) were only their body guards. This was only found out after Shay, the boy she saved from a vicious bear attack (never thinking she would every sea him again), swoops into her life. And it seems he plays a bigger part in her life than she would have liked.
She can't help but fall for Shay (which I couldn't either). But why? He was only a human....or maybe not..... I truly did love this book. Romance, action, frustration, and complications. The lies of the world keep you turning each page. You find yourself wondering if your assumptions were right, and also hoping you weren't right. The Keepers are so cruel you really end up hating them. I love both Ren's (the guy Calla is supposed to marry to create a new pack, who she also has an attraction to and is really cocky, cocky but cute! lol ) and Call's pack...well most of them.
Calla is such a boss. She kicks butt like no other and (honestly) can be quite aggravating but that is what caused me to like her I think. She was so head strong and make women proud as she stands as the alpha female! :D I loved her brother Ansel too.
Shay is just a human...kind of...sorry you have to read to really find out if I'm bluffing or not hehe ;) He is cute, funny, and a pain in the butt sometimes. I often see..Tam Ren! Team Ren! but honestly I really liked Shay alot more. He is so much more easy going and nice. He truly cares for Calla and never has you doubting his love unlike Ren.
If you are looking for a kick-butt, love triangle, mysterious read with the whole werewolf thing going on then this is definitely your read right here. I recommend this book to you all. Which by the way is only the first in a trilogy!! Wolfsbane is already out but Bloodrose doesn't come out till January..poopy right!??? :/
Oh!! and this isn't your ordinary werewolf book. You'd be surprised how many twists and turns and....lies.....you have been told!! ;) I love all of what Miss Cremer gave us!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!! :D(less)
I will start off by saying I LOVED Nightshade! Andrea Cremer did an AMAZING job creating this book! I love the story line, the conflict, and the twists she puts into this book.
Wolfsbane takes place right after the ending of the first book****Spoilers: Calla is captured and taken to the Searchers base after fleeing her ceremony to save Shay~~~I love him! haha sorry just thought I'd mention that! :) ****End of Spoilers
Wow this book was filled with loss and surprises! The beginning, honestly, started very slow and it took me a little while to really get into it but as soon as the Searchers were pickin up speed in their progress...the book sped up too and I was divin in head first! Ugh this review is going to be short because it's hard to say everythin without givin it all away but I knew I had to review this one too.
Shay yupp I am still #TeamShay! He is soo freakin cute! He is protective, loyal, honest, and genuine! He loves Calla without a doubt! And that makes me love him without a doubt. Sorry Ren you have enough people on your side as it is! :b Man and the ending with him: WOW!!! :O
Psh the ending period! *tears up* I knew it! I knew it! I KNEW IT!!! That was sooo cute! *sighs* Yupp you guys HAVE to read this breathtaking, new werewolf trilogy. You won't regret it! The third and final novel in the series, Bloodrose, comes out in January! I will be gettin it as soon as I can! EEP! What will happen when..finds out that.....and then that......ahhh! It's killin me!! not to mention that...still doesnt......andI can't help but wonder will he ever.....??? ;) haha u have to find out!!! *laughs evilly* (less)
Wow what can I say about this book? Well one I love Tara Hudson's writing style its so beautiful and easy to follow every thought and feeling. This book was about one girl name Amelia who can't remember anything about her or who she was except her name and that she is dead. Ouch right?? That would totally suck to die and not remember anythnng. She ends up finding herself floating in a small lake everyday after having "nightmares". Poor Amelia has it hard. I felt for her throughout the whole book. She is caught in the in between not completely dead but sure as heck not alive. She has been lonely and haunted for a long time until she meets Joshua.
Joshua..I loved this boy! He was so sweet and down to earth and adorable. After reading several love triangle or the bad boy types I loved having Joshua added to my book life. He is so funny, and sweet and oh so totally charming when with Amelia. Because Amelia saved him after he recked and almost drowned to death he can now see her. The only one who can see, talk and touch her.
Omg their touch! That was sooo cute I loved how Tara Hudson created the spark/heat that they fealt every time they touched. Altogether this book was a great read and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a cute love story with a ghostly twist. I fell in love with this book and can't wait till Arise comes out!! :)(less)
Mockingjay takes place in district thirteen after ****SPOILER******district twelve had been destroyed. ******** END OF SPOILER**********
Katniss along with her family, Gale and his family, and a few others from the past now live there. She is pretty much in full blown depression and honestly the book just kind of drags which frustrated me. I had such high hopes for this book and it did nothing but anger me. Yes there is still some positives but Katniss's attitude and the whole "poor me poor me" thing is aggravating. Again I loved this series and would never take back the time I spent on it but I don't know it just kind of let me down.
Katniss is now the leading face for the rebellion and Snow has got it out for her. Peeta is captured and being tortured, Finnick is in small depression, and many more problems have erupted. Their only hope is to slowly take each district on their side and away froma capitol allegience. Once this is done they can inflict war. There are so many deaths and honestly the ones who diserved a proper hero's death didn't get the honor they deserved. The ending was kind of rushed but I guess I liked it. I got what I wanted from the ending. There was so many questions left un-answered though. And I'm just going to leave this review like that..... not much more to really say. It was good just dragged on for awhile, kind of depressing, and just left an O.K. feeling with me
Ugh this review was hard. I so wanted to give a great nothing but positive review but I just couldn't. I pledged to give nothing but honesty in my reviews so that is what I had to do. All in all I enjoyed this series even with the ruff ending. I would recommend this series to anyone who wants an action packed dystopian read. Again I would never take back reading this series and who knows you might find you have a different experience and feeling about this last book! :) (less)
I have to be honest in all my review right? Ya, I know I do. But I also know that almost every single one of my favorite bloggers absolutely adored this book.....and I....did not. Well, not at first that is.
So I bought the whole series along time ago and hadnt yet read them so I decided to finally one day. So, I started it! Duh!!! And then....I stopped. It was pretty boring. Then I went on goodreads to look at my friends were saying and came to the first review I saw. One of my favorite bloggers....H.D. If any of you have read the review you obviously know what it says...if not...go read it...(Review).
Now...Don't bash on him ok? Yes, its not one of those raving reviews but its honesty. And that is what, we as bloggers, are supposed to do. We shouldn't butter up a review and be fake just cause other people really liked that particular book. Or just cus we don't want to hurt any feelings. Of course you should hurt feelings by bashing a book. Soooo not part of the blogger code!(if there is one haha idk..maybe I should make one??) ;) We need to be honest....whether we liked the book or not. We need to express our true thoughts! And that's what H.D. did...and I agree! Like 100%!! But I think liked it a bit more than he did.
So I'm going to have to brake this review into a sort of pro vs. con review.....starting with cons so we can end on a good note ya? :)
Cons: So....lets start with...The love story. I really do think it was all a bit familiar don't you think? ...like uhm I don't know....Twilight familiar? ...this was something I agreed with H.D. on. Sam (Edward) was the creepy stalker who was an obsession of Grace's (Bella). She didn't know why but she loved him...he fascinated her...(the wolf). Those yellow eyes that haunted her every thought. And she was the one he couldn't stay away from. He felt it was his duty to protect her....and someday be with her. But in this story..Grace can't talk with her obsession cus he is a wolf. But then one day....they meat person to person...
One...WOAH!!!!! Nice meat and greet huh? ;) Naked guy on the porch! haha .....anyways skip, skip....to that night after the hospital...(cus of circumstances)...and she invites him to stay..in her room. WOAH!! (again) you just met the dude! Yes he seems familiar. Yes he just told you what he was but uhm!!! Red flags should be going off!!! What if he is just crazy!? What if he is some stalker killer who put on contacts cus he was watching you and your wolf obsession!!? But wait...she flippin invites him to sleep in her bed!!!! Again...agreeing with H.D. here!! What if he were to kill her!? Obviously...one its just a book. Ya let your imagination run free! And two...none of that happens but still...girl needed some common sense.
Then we have a quicky love story. Seriously. Day two..not even actually it was just the morning after they met.....and they make out in the kitchen. Ya, girl....no. Sorry but no. But honestly you have to keep reading and then it's cute. You just can't think about the time they have known each other on a human to human basis and your all good! That is what I had to do...imagine they knew each other longer than they did.
Now.....for the writing....Once again agreeing with H.D. I love how authors try to be different and unique. It's great! Go for it! I love different! I love that some of you I can read a page and guess...Oh! Yupp! That could only have been written by "so an so". Its awesome!! BUT!!! Please! I love you Maggie but this line bugged me as much as it bugged H.D. And I couldn't have agreed more with what he had to say so I am going to quote the quote and what H.D. had to say....
"'I was a leaking womb bulging with the promise of conscious thoughts...'
What. The. Heck. I re-read this sentence a million type. I couldn't get over that. What the heck was this? This weird, totally scary metaphor. I'm all for this adventurous prose. I'm all for authors trying new things and trying to stand out and be different. But to compare the idea of having conscious thoughts to a woman's LEAKING WOMB just isn't...real? Would any male (or even female, for that matter) take the moment in extreme agony or frustration to point out that: YEAH, I fell like a leaking womb!
I don't think so."
Ya, that pretty much sums up my thoughts on that. And like he said.. don't hate...its a matter of opinion. and again good for Maggie and her comparisons! I liked most of them while others...just weird. I'm sorry but that's just how I felt. I LOVED her song lyrics for Sam! LOVED LOVED LOVED!!!! I loved her other comparisons most of the time. Go for unique! Go for colored vocabulary but PLEASE!!!!! Do not. go. off. the. deep. end!! Colorful is for intense moments. for when other simple words can't express the things that are going on but not. like. this. please. Again love stuff like this. But please don't over do it. I think I made myself pretty clear now! :) Sorry and thanks.
Oh..and personally...Sam didn't quite make my crush list yet..(YET!) He was a bit too clingy..stalkerish in book one...Idk I love him! And I adored him at the end! And his story!!! Two words: heart breaking. I loved him for it! It made him a bit more stronger and likeable! Loved him but...waiting a bit! ;) Sorry ladies!! :b
The love between the two of them was sooo beautiful!! I loved the adventures, the heart ache, the romance. I loved all the side characters! Maggie did an awesome job with character description! Sam's lyrics! SOOOO CUTE!!! Die! Swoon!! All the background and folklore (idk if I used that word right) description and outlining! The scenery description! Beautiful!! The end!!! GAHHHHHH!!!!!! <3 x100 The alternating POVs :)
Advice: If you are going to read this book...... And like it from the beginning....YAY!!! I'm so glad!! Maggie deserves all the fans she has gotten!! I'm glad you had no problems!! YAY!! YAY!! YAY!!! (no sarcasm whatsoever!) That is great! :) And didn't like it from page 1.....keep reading! It gets better! Honestly...I kept reading for one reason and one reason only....I had bought the entire series already and Goddammit I was going to freakin finish what I had paid for whether I liked it or not. And guess what!!? I don't have to have an agonizing time reading the rest of the series because I ended up liking it in the end! And am on book 2 now...yes it takes awhile to read sometimes but I do like it! :) So you keep reading and hopefully you will come to like it too! Keep reading and don't give up! Or stop and pick it up some other time! Who knows, your thoughts might change! :) Now...3 stars cus I did end up liking it! It would have gotten two due to the fact of finishing just to finish but I think it deserves the three star rating because I liked it in the end!! :)
I hope this will help ya! Thanks for reading and stopping by! :) ~Jaiden(less)
