The problem of the book is that Jerry as the "worst" pony on the Dude Ranch and he wanted to race really bad. The place where the story takes place cannot be set up in a different place. If it did then it would have a hard time falling into place. Some of the Main Charcters in this story are... Jerry, a young boy that becomes part indian and love to read. Sam, Jerry's blood brother and belongs to a tribe and works on the Dude Ranch as the chore boy. Garth, a wealthy boy who is a big bully. Applesauce, the "Kid" pony Jerry rides. Chuck Wallace the Coral Boss who assigns the horses they can ride. Muriel, one of Jerrys friends who hangs out with the "gang".
Jerry comes to a Dude Ranch, he gets assigned to the "kid" pony. About 2 weeks into his stay he was rubbing Applesauces nose when he said to himself " I wish you were and Indian pony". A voice came from behind him that said that he was. Jerry turned around and he saw Sam, they started talking and from then on Sam gave him private lessons on ridding bareback and or Indian style. Sam helped Jerry and Applesauce train for a race that took place in two weeks. During this time they became blood brothers with is a ritual that the indians do by cutting themselfs and rubbing the blood together. when the race came Jerry agreed to race for the Indians. Jerry won the race and became part of Sam's Tribe and took the name "Rides-like-an-Indian"(less)

I...moreIt is on of the best books I have ever read. I connected with it, I don't like to read alot and books don't really connect with me but this one did. I tells about how everyone can get along and people come closer with challenges. That really touched me because my family has and has had a lot of challenges even before I was born and I think that is why we love each other so much and why we love each other so much. My family teaches me alot of stuff and they have been with me through the hardest things in my life so far. and they are there for everyone.
