However I have to say that till the end I was firmly hooked and wanted to know where the author was heading. Obviously, since this is only the first book of six, nothing of true importance happens, it only gives the readers the groundwork for the next. The main characters veer from annoying to distasteful to pitiful but, alas, has I said they nonetheless make you want to continue on the reading in the hope that something positive will be shown to the reader. Unfortunately this never occur here.
It is absolutely a book that will make you feel very strong emotion....more

McAvoy I read. What drew me to it is the fact that the main characters are a black woman and a white man. Something that, to me, seems new because usually I come upon couples that are white/white or black/black or, streching it a bit, black men and white women. I never thought about it till this book but what I find searching for romance book is usually a bit conservative. I need to change my reading habits.
Anyway. The book has nothing (obviously) different than what you find reading a w/w contemporary romance novel. Just in the beginning Thea, this strong and indipendent black girl who is starting an Harvard law course held by someone she thought she would never see again, as to deal with a bit of prejudice (even if I have to admit it was her fault for bringing the subject in the argument). After that, thing are more centered on the struggles of Levi and Thea. In fact the two have to fight to keep things professional, even if the passion they have shared in a week fling (that is told day per day in the first part), is far from dead. What is more, Thea's past -the real reason for which she is determined to be a lawier- urges her to put all else aside.
This story has held me captivated and eager to know what would happen to the characters till the happy end and from that angle has satisfied my romance reader heart's needs. However, things at times seemd a bit rushed and could have been handled better. In the end, a good first for this author. I hope to read something else in the future....more

Laurie is having a bit of a predicament seeing that her boyfriend is out of control and is trying to take charge of every aspect of her life... in and out of bed. Especially in bed where he has started to show interests that are more those of a psychopath than that of a lover. A situation that is starting to scare her badly and from which she wants to get away quickly. The solution comes in the form of a nomad MC Club to whom Laurie's brother has asked help. When one of the Club assist to Laurie getting beaten by her boyfriend, he didn't find other way to save the day than to kidnap her and bring her to where the club is currently staying, a country house nested in the woods. However, is Laurie happy to be safe (and almost sound)? Oh no! She wants only to escape the people who helped her and are trying to protect her.
Ok, I can understand that in the beginning it could have seemed to her to have gone from a bad situation to another even worse. Even so, after the first night when no-one tried to hurt her in any way she should have changed her mind. Especially because, finally, she has someone who can help her getting rid of the asshole who is making her life a living hell. Another bonus is that she finds the leader of the group, Steele, very attractive... so why leave!? Try, at least, to gain something good from the mess you're in.
The rest of the book is nearly only scenes of "group sex" or "couple sex" (more of the former). Dressed with a burst of jealousy (from Steele) that has not really sense seing that "what is mine is yours" in the code of the Club, much confusion (from both of them), another kidnapping and almost rape (from the ass****) and...other sex (from all of them).
Then, near the end, the author start to speak of Steele as dominant...but she doesn't make him do things that can make you see him as one (≪Woman, do as I say!≫ is not one of those things). He is "only" a big, gorgeous, sexy man who is very free in his interest for sex and has a strong will. There is nothing about a relationship dom-sub between the two and speaking of it is too much and too late.
In conclusion, if you are in search of something that doesn't have a strong plot but has many heavy sex scenes and whose only purpose is to make you pass a couple of hours of fun, this is the book for you. Otherwise it's better if you go find something else.

It's also a fairly good one seeing that for nearly two third of the book it kept me glued to its pages. I liked the first interactions between the main characters and the MC world the author created. However, the more I came close to the end, the more the situations repeated themselves. Dialogues too. I started thinking of when the book would have finally ended because the main characters were starting to wear me down....more
