ThJohn Rachel’s second book follows his first in a lyrical musical rhythm, with a beat, and the contrapuntal symphony of introspective dancing words. The subtitle Entendre underscores this work; unsubtle with a single meaning. But it is damn clever, close to the bone stream of consciousness writing.
Chockablock with insights into pop-culture and political observations — the work presents a tsunami of depraved, reflective mental torture expressed poetically coursing through the mind of Billy Green. The author’s candidly, beautifully executed mental reflections reminded me of Marcel Proust’s detailed mental pondering in his classic work “Swans Way.”
Outwardly Billy Green spews out a plethora of nonstop wise-ass, zingers, zappers and one line responses in conversations with friends and enemies alike.
Is Billy is expecting too much from his life — a hollow adult — all shiny lacquer gloss — expecting others to fulfill his vacuous soul — and damn lucky in his life so far. Which head is the poor Billy thinking with? His big head or the one located at the tip of his penis? Reading this work I felt compelled to give Billy Green a swift kick in his ass.
Maybe this book could be titled: “The Man Who Loves To Think Too Much.”
Then again, reading this work reminded me of the role of parents in raising their children. For many contemporary parents, family values and moral standards are missing. The parents behave like their kids, smoking pot, shooting up drugs, boozing, and indulging in casual sex. They are role models, so it’s no surprise that their children follow their lead with impunity.
The richest nation on earth is morally bankrupt. On a massively larger scale; examine the current morality of the American totalitarianism government’s subterfuge; trickery, intrigue, deviousness, deceit, deception, dishonesty, cheating, duplicity, guile, cunning, craftiness, chicanery, pretense, fraud, fraudulence, corruption, double dealing, outright lies, spying, and torture. No wonder the citizens of this powerful nation have gone to pot.
Like loving parents, good governments exhibit the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior. The values and principles of conduct: virtue, goodness, good behavior, righteousness, rectitude, uprightness; morals, principles, honesty, integrity, propriety, honor, justice, decency; ethics, standards/principles of behavior, mores, standards. The current American government has set the standards for their citizens (children) to follow.
That’s the overshadowing message I received reading this fascinating and thought provoking book. This is an important read, for sane people in a world that’s rapidly going berserk.
Certainly I’ll be reading more about confused, drugged and drunk Billy Green on a runaway fright train heading into the third and final book in “The Man Who Loved Too Much” Trilogy — chugga choo chugga choo… ...more

Easy to read and infectious to follow this young man's dream to achieving freedom from the shackles of corruption into the storied land of liberty. My heart beat faster as I turned each page, reading the awful inequities and travisties he underwent. Throughout the horrors he remained true to himself. A lesson in perseverance of the human spirit. Way beyond titivating erotica these testosterone driven tales are certainly not for woman readers.
Badass brilliant writer, Linton Robinson, knocks off these stories and observations that drill deep into the male psyche.
Visceral and primordial, some have been published in Playboy, Hustler and Biker magazines. Some were just too bold and to ever appear in any magazine.
Linton’s stream of consciousness anecdotes ring with authenticity, scraped from the bottom of the sleaze barrel. They provided me with a vicarious guilt free imaginative escape from my mental shackles of gentlemanly behaviour instilled in me by my screwed up Victorian Age grandfather; “Always be a gentleman, no matter how painful.”
These are liberating and engaging accounts of maleness, delivered point blank by a master word weaver. Five glowing stars wink at the intrepid male reader. ...more

A contemporary fictional parable concerning the rapidly declining morals of a bought pseudo democracy. Wonderfully spun out and delivered in contemporary brutal American vehicular. The attempt by an politically innocent running for election to congress in the USA against an ensconced incumbent's juggernaut of big money, connections and subterfuge. Ostensibly this story is about Martin Truth's, yeah that's his name, attempts to be elected after several humiliating failures. His mixed bag of dedicated campaign committee volunteers, believe in him, but know in their hearts he is doomed to failure once again. A bright young female political intern arrives and turns the morality and vision of Martin Truth and his volunteers into a fervent politically smart vote getting brigade. She uses simple outside the box clear thinking based on the frustrated concerns of voters. A gripping David and Goliath tale that kept me turning those cliff hanging pages until the nail biting ending.
Reading this fictional tale based on historical and ongoing events In the American government made me feel damn good that I'm a Canadian citizen....more

Incredible graphic descriptions and details of the photographic process succeeded in painting vivid imagesI didn’t read Properties Of Light, lightly.
Incredible graphic descriptions and details of the photographic process succeeded in painting vivid images directly on my mind. So damn tangible they transported to my art directing days and photographic explorations of my own experiences.
Historic manipulation of light and shadow color to generate visceral responses in the reader/viewer. Those wonderful images achieved by the curious fictitious photographer untilzing intelligence, chemistry are now easily captured. Today almost anyone can use computerized digital software. This seems to me a sad technological leveling, a denigration of the achievements of an original artist.
Mixed in with this verbal melange of graphic images captured photographically are glamorous flights of sexual fantasy, graphic couplings and peccadillos from the dark side of light.
Linton Robinson is a master storyteller evident in his word paintings displayed in this graphic tour de force. A recommended adult read....more

Faciinating to read. Packed to the hilt with similies, maetaphors, humor, satire, insanity, cruelity, parody, sex, power, and the plain truth of our world situation.
The author recapitualtes a cartoon scene from within the beginning of the story giving it an entirely different ending. A surprise reversal that mirrors how our present desolate state of affairs can change. This book sure tickled my funny bone, the final scene is indelibly stamped in my consciousness.
