A bit of...moreI was a little surprised that this story was a bit of a departure from the other "Irish Country" tales, but I enjoyed Kinky's tale immensely. A bit of a slow start, but once I was acclimated to early 20th century Cork, I was hooked. I really appreciated Taylor's way of spelling the Gaelic word first, but then following it up in "conversation" that was more of a phonetic spelling to help the reader.
I'm still looking forward to more tales of the two doctors and the inhabitants of Ballybucklebo, but found this short detour one worth taking!(less)
