Hmm.. The book was pretty decent. The thing about the Furies was really interesting and that really made me continue to flip every page until I finished it. I like it but not the OHMAYGAHD!-I-so-love-this-book like kind. Sometimes I got really annoyed with Em. Especially with the hooking up thing with Zach, and though I know that it wasn't all actually her fault it still made a bit irritated with her. And Chase, he's one of the main character and I thought there will be more interesting thing that would happen to him, but yeah, he died. Which was really disappointing since I though Em and him could work together to figure everything out. I even thought that maybe they could end up with each other. I didn't liked much the ending or how everything turned out during the last part. I doubt I'll continue to read the series. The cover though was really nice but I was a bit disappointed with the overall story. (less)
Yay! This book is freakin' awesome! This one literally kicked the ass out of me. LOL. I definitely love it. :DD
When I read the prequel, Daimon, a month ago I was instantly hooked up. It was awesome and I totally craved for the first book. And so, when I finally was able to read this book, Dang! It was freakin' amazing. I was a little worried that this one might not justify the awesomeness of the prequel, but dude, was I wrong, it made more than justify it. It went to a higher level of coolness, and awesomeness, and amazing-ness. This book blew me away. :DD
So our little heroine here is Alexandria Andros. The first thing I would describe her - a total kick ass heroine. I mean metaphorically and literally. LOL. Alex is a child of a demigod and a mortal, making her a half-blood. Hematois are the one with pure bloods, child of both demigods. 3 years ago, she and her mother fled the Covenant where half-bloods and pure-bloods receive their education and training, - which her mother said is for the best but never really explained to her why. They lived in the mortal world for 3 years but after her mother got killed by a daimon she was forced to go back to the Covenant - the place where her mother warned her never to return.
This book did remind me of the Vampire Academy (Well, I haven't really read the whole VA but I read the first parts and was atleast able to get the main plot and concept of the book.)but I think it does'n t really matter. Because clearly they have both different kind of worlds. Mythology has always been my favorite, and with Jennifer Armentrout's great writing and imaginative skill, she was able to build a very unique world from it. I love it and I think it was really cool.
The characters of this book are really great. Alex is awesome. I love her! She's strong, beautiful funny and brave. Though sometimes I got annoyed by her lack of patience and being a bit stubborn she is still very much likable and that characteristics of her made her a total kick-ass heroine. And then there's Aiden St. Delphi, a very swoon worthy male. LOL. He's a pure-blood who volunteered to train Alex. He's a nice, caring, protective, patient, good-looking, sexy guy. Haha! He's the guy Alex has been crushing (and still crushing) before she left the Covenant. And as the story progress both are clearly developing mutual feelings for each other however the rules forbid them to be - pure-bloods and half-bloods cannot mix romantically. (But still this part is so worth it , I so love Aiden an I really want the both of them together.) And there goes another swoon-worthy guy, Seth, the Apollyon. Which is some sort the half of Alex and they have this some kind of connections. I was a little worried though and curious at the same time now that they're bonded.
So all in all, 4.5 stars for this book. I really love it. I'm very much looking forward for the second book. I recommend this to everyone! ^^

This book is freaking cool! Like really really cool. It's like I got hold of an advance-tech, sophisticated gadget, a newly invented video game, or a high-end, atomic bomb-proof car! Yeah, that kind of cool! If you get what I mean. Oh well, anyway, this book is not like any ordinary young-adult novel. With its parapsychology and pseudoscience science concept, this book definitely went beyond just being awesome. :DD
I got totally hooked up by this book. Everything was just so cool and exciting. The concept was great and really interesting, the parapsychology thing really got me. I was so excited with everything and with the abilities of the characters. All the characters are so lovable! (Well, except for Rachel) LOL. I just love them all especially Lila, Suki and Nate. And of course Alex! (Fangirling strikes in!)
Lila was so adorable, she's strong, funny and really cute! She knows about her ability and she kind of accepts it but also knows that she's always not in control of it and that it could be dangerous. Her thoughts were really funny and her reactions were really cute (especially when its about Alex) and I can't help myself but grin and laugh at that. I loved her relationship with his brother, Jack. He's totally overprotected to her but not really the irritating type. They were so close and really care for each other. I find it really sweet whenever Jack said he love her little sister (not the sister-complex type, just a real brother-sister relationship)Haha! And then there's Alex.(Fangirling striking in again!) His brother's best friend, whom she has been in love her whole life. Their age gap was a bit big, 4 of 5 years? But it doesn't really matter once you start reading this and met him and found out that he's seriously swoon-worthy! LOL. The last part was totally...*swoons*! And I just totally love how their relationship developed.
And the twist about Demos group was cool. I found myself loving all of them once the revelation kicked in. Especially Nate and Suki. Really funny and cute, and not to mention their abilities are kick ass! Haha.
And yes, the last part was a total action and I just so loved it. Really cool and and entertaining, its like I was watching a real action-filled movie. The characters are all magnificent and they all seemed like a bad ass movie-stars. LOL. >:DD
I applaud Alderson for doing such a great and smart job. A story you would definitely crave for more! Enjoyed it very much. Perfect 5 stars for this book! :))

Reading this was sort of an accident. I wasn't really planning on reading this yet when I saw my copy and try to take a sneak peek. But that sneak peek turned into full time reading. And find my self enjoying and getting hooked up with the book.
My Soul to Take was a fun, entertaining, and thrilling read. The plot and concept was unique and original. I haven't read something like the concept of this book. The idea about the bean sidhe, grim reaper, soul screamers made this book very different from most YA paranormal books. I love how the author mixed mythology and paranormal in one. And I think it was really awesome!
I love all the characters! Kaylee is a great and cool character. She's a strong-willed person and I love the good in her to help other people. I love how she grew up in the story and how she take all the revelations in her life. Nash is HOT. LOL(Fangirling striking in!) He's kind, thoughtful and really caring. Though I was a bit suspicious of him during the first parts but that eventually fade when I saw how he never left Kaylee and filled her out everything he know she needed to learn. I love the sweet and cute moments between the two. Tod was a funny, cool and teasing character! I love him! Haha! And I love him more when I found out he's brother with Nash. And that makes him both a reaper and bean sidhe, which I find really cool. I also think that though most of the times Nash and Tod don't get along, I think Tod really cares for his brother and loves him. Aiden and Brendon, Kaylee's dad and uncle are also nice characters. I see that their love for Kaylee are true and genuine.
The twists were exciting and amusing! The writing was good and I love how the characters were developed. All in all, the book is amazing. I enjoyed it very much. A fun and exciting read. :))

I would say this book blew me away once again - in a good way, in bad way and in all sorts of way! It brought so many emotions in me, all at the same time. It made me happy, swoon, thrilled, confused, sad and frustrated. Don't get me wrong, this book is absolutely great and brilliant. And Jennifer did a very wonderful job and just proved once again how great an author she is. But I tell you, there were just so many things that happened that definitely squeezed and wrenched my heart.
Alex is still just as kick-ass as she was in the first book. The same spontaneous, impulsive but lovely, brave and adorable heroine. And I still positively love her for that. Though there were lots of things that happened both wonderful and devastating which made her confused, hurt and all it also contributed a lot in developing her character. Realizations and understanding came to her as she experienced all of it. Though I may not have been happy with some of her decisions and choices (for some personal reasons!XD) I still really admire her and she's becoming more of an awesome character.
So now, the boys. Oh yeah, I guess I wouldn't be talking about them because it would only eventually lead to the romance aspect in this sequel. So I guess let's get it straight. Alright, to be honest I was freaking devastated! Jennifer gave me all the right reasons to love Seth, and well, it did made me love him. Boy, who wouldn't? He's cool, arrogant, sarcastic, but also sweet and caring and not to mention his breathtaking, swoon-worthy, jaw-dropping, mouth-watering looks. Oh man, he's totally my kind of jerk! And I definitely went a little gaga over him but - yeah there's a big BUT - I just can't love him enough to like him for Alex. I like Seth a lot, really but if you're gonna ask me who I want Alex to end up with, I am absolutely in Team Aiden. And to explain why I was devastated, I was deprived of Aiden here! There were so little moments between him and Alex and it wasn't even at all that swoony. And even though I enjoyed and appreciate most of the Seth highlights in here, that pool scene just killed me! It was hot and steamy and all but I can't fully appreciate it because it was breaking my heart. It was frustrating to keep on waiting for Aiden moments when all that was coming were Seth moments and it was all sweet, funny, and swoon-worthy!
I do not hate Seth for making a move with Alex and liking her, for Alex to made that decision, nor Aiden for keeping on pushing Alex away. I understand everything, their feelings, the situation and the danger. But it was just really hard not to feel bad. So yeah, Jennifer, you're definitely awesome. Its very rare for me to be so affected by a book this big. After reading it, it was all I keep on thinking - possibilities, theories, what ifs, Aiden, Aiden, Aiden! - up until now and the days to come. It will consume me for days, that I am sure, just like what Obsidian did to me. LOL!
Sometimes I wish Aiden and Alex could just run away! Haha! I imagine that someone will discover what Alex did on the last part and how Aiden tried to help her to cover that up and they would run away! Yeah, sounds pretty desperate of me. But boy, I am desperate! *sigh* Anyway, please don't mistakenly take my devastation over the romance aspect as a bad thing. It was mostly my personal opinion and feelings. I would still definitely highly recommend this! There were great and thrilling parts that I absolutely enjoyed and there were moments, other than the romance, that squeezed my heart. It was a very good read. Jennifer knows how to write a killer story. Haha! I am definitely looking forward for Deity! Please come fast November! 9 months is too long. :((
P.S. I think I know that necklace Aiden was wearing and what "agapi" means too! *giggles* ♥ And Seth really reminds me of Dameon, they'll definitely explode if they ever meet. lol!

Sarah Alderson sure knows how to capture her audience. Right from the start she had me already really excited and thrilled and I'm very happy to say that she was able to keep it throughout the course of the story. Losing Lila is fantastic sequel with amazing plot, kick-ass characters, thrilling scenes and shocking twists. I absolutely enjoyed it.
Lila. I seriously adore this girl even if she could be really so stubborn sometimes. She's impulsive and quite reckless yet I love how she's so willing to take risks for her loved ones and be brave and strong with it. Alex. I understand the insecurities he showed here especially after being the only human in their group who isn't a psy. But Alderson still made his character so purposeful. He became the brain of the group. He was the one who thought of strategies and planned their actions. And clearly, he played an essential part in the group.
Alex and Lila's relationship is, of course, one of my favorite parts in this book. It was sweet, touching and absolutely swoon-worthy. They had fights and misunderstandings but I love how it grew and developed.
The secondary characters are so great. I love how almost all of them made an impression to me especially Nate and Suki! The tandem of this two is just so entertaining and fun. Key too felt like a very warm person, someone who is so easy to talk to and confide with. Also, I think I developed quite a crush on Jack. Haha! And wait, did you notice how thoughtful he'd been to Amber during the last parts? Ooh, I can totally see the two of them together if there would be a third book! :D
And one more thing! Sarah Alderson never fails to impress me with her ability of writing awesome action-packed scenes. I can so vividly imagine it and it was kick-ass. The stunts were amazing and I love how she describe them with such vigor and energy
This is such a outstanding and fantastic book from an excellent and talented author. She'd proven it in Hunting Lila and with Losing Lila she'd given us a lot more reasons why we have to look forward to more of her books. A third book of Lila will absolutely make me really really happy! And I want a lot of Jack, please. Haha! I recommend this. :D

Reading Deity was one exhilarating ride and an utterly brilliant experience. This is so far my favorite among the series and am absolutely satisfied with where the story is going (despite that cliffhanger of an ending).
I was glad to see Alex's character developed vastly in this book. Her being reckless and taking actions without thinking was one of her distinctive character trait that although annoyed me most times, is probably also the most appealing thing about her. In this book though Alex seems to have learned to think first and tried to consider things before deciding and taking any actions. She matured in a lot of ways through all the things that had happened and she experienced from the previous books and in this one. But one thing I'm most happy about was when she finally become completely honest with her feelings and chose who she really loved.
Aiden, oh boy, I don't even know where to start with this guy! He had me melting in a puddle of goo almost every freaking time. The dedication, the patience, the loyalty and the undying love of this guy to Alex are just very impressive and absolutely amazing. He isn't flawless but with all those thing he'd done for Alex he could be all be nothing but perfect. And the moments with the two? Wonderful. Just wonderful. The love and care were practically oozing out of the pages.
As for the plot, it was just incredible! So many things happened and almost all of them left me in total surprise. Some had me confused and frustrated but others just made me thrilled and excited. Secrets and intentions were revealed and although some complicate things it also made the story even more interesting and fantastic.
Overall, I am absolutely satisfied and happy with this book. I loved how things went although the ending left me a bit in disarray. Still, the things that happened and took place in this book were great and served a lot for the credibility of the story and to developed and enhance the world Armentrout created remarkably. The characters are one hell of an awesome set, from the main characters, supporting and even the villains! If you haven't started this series yet I recommend you start it now! You're missing a lot.

I'm not usually into reaper boy-human girl story. I remember reading some but not many. I don’t really have problem with them but I wasn’t really that inclined to pick them up. Still, when I saw the blurb of Inbetween there something about it that had me hooked. I was intrigued and interested and very curious to find out the story of Finn and Emma. So I was really glad when I was able to join a blog tour for this book and got a review copy of it.
The plot line of this book kinda reminded me of some angel books like Fallen and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The girl being reincarnated as a human who doesn't remember anything from her past life and the guy who knows and remembers everything but torn and guilty from moving back to the girl's new life. Although it wasn't very original I think it still delivered some quite unique stuffs that I find enjoyable and amusing.
Finn was an endearing and interesting character. His guilt and sadness about the things that he did in the past and his love for Emma was so heartbreaking and touching that I wanted to comfort him and hug him. Emma although likable I did find a bit dull. I would love for her to developed more personality, something that would make her character more striking.
The story of Finn and Emma was a very sweet and heartbreaking one. I was curious and intrigued as to why Finn can't go near and reveal himself to Emma and why he feels guilty and responsible for her. I wanted to learn what had really happened in the past. And when I finally learned it I was sad and sympathetic for the two.
However, I think I wasn't completely that invested in their love story. There were moments that I get so fond of it then moments that I just don't quite care. In a story, I love seeing two characters fall in love, how it developed and grew. But in this book, having that part happened in the past, I wasn't able to see more of it. The author did provide flash backs that showed how the two met, moments between them and how the conflict came but I think it wasn't really that enough for me to completely connect and invest in their romance.
The secondary characters were my favorite! Especially Cash (!!!), Anaya, Easton and even Scout. I love that they did make an impression in me and didn't just fade into the background.
Despite all the slight issues I was still satisfied and happy with how things turned out. The ending, I think, was a bit too nice. But it was a happy ending so I guess I should be happy about it. lol! The overall I enjoyed and I do still think that this is a nice and decent read, although not mind blowing but absolutely lovely.

Well, this book was a pleasant surprise for me. I wasn't expecting that much on this one and to be honest I had some doubt I'd end up really enjoying it. But I'm pleased to report that this book is actually a very interesting one. It might not have instantly caught my interest during the first parts but as I went deeper to the story I realized that it had eventually intrigued me. The characters and the world Kat created were indeed a very unique and fantastic and I'm happy to say that I enjoyed reading this book.
I first thought this was a vampire book thus explaining my doubt. I was surprised when the world was finally described and explained that I realized how interesting and fascinating it was. It wasn't really a vampire world but a world of "Zhyamvys" or "zombies" as we humans, according to the book, bastartized it. It was rather a fascinating idea - good looking zombies, smart and civilized than just the brain eater we always thought of. It was quite captivating and absorbing to explore this unique world Kat created.
Phoenix, our main character discovered the existence of the Zhamvys when she accidentally overslept in the library of her school pass the curfew. Her curiosity still brought her to discover more of the world of Zhamvy and soon found herself helping some of them in this dangerous secret that might kill this ancient civilization that lived underneath her school.I didn't get well with Phoenix right away. I was actually pretty annoyed with her and some of her actions. Her curiosity I understand but she was impatient and reckless and although those could be appealing attributes on some characters, it felt quite annoying on her. Although as the story went on I saw parts of her that is good and kind and impressive, like when she agreed to help Dray to look for a cure for his people because she understood how it felt not to able to do anything to someone you love. She agreed even if it was dangerous and did extreme sacrifices. In the end, I think she did grow on me.
Now onto the other main character and the love interest, Demitri. Well, there's a reason why I still haven't read Vampire Academy, Wanderlove and why I didn't continue the Faeriewalker series.
Long-haired guys.
I know, I know. Shallow it is. Don't get angry at me but they were just never my type and it turns me off quite majorly whenever I encounter one. However, after reading this I realized that it wasn't really that hard to imagine them to be short-haired. Lol! Seriously, that's the only way I know how I'll be able to continue reading this and still really like it. So in the end, I was actually able to like Demitri genuinely. And yes, I also did think he was sexy.
Although I liked the overall, I was a little disappointed with the ending. It felt kinda rush, even some other parts of the book but it was the ending that I wish had been elaborated more. Nonetheless, I think this is a pretty great debut novel and really fantastic for a one-shot paranormal book albeit a little formulaic and predictable at times. I wouldn't mind if there will be a second book actually (or a companion book about Luca). I enjoyed this and I guess it's pretty safe to recommend this.
Thank you Kat Evangelista for providing me a copy of this book!

I've always been a fan of zombies. Not that I'd loved them if they become real but I just like the thrill, excitement and nervousness they can make me feel. I've seen lots of zombie-themed movies and read some mangas of it. But I haven't really read any novel about it, I realized just after I finished reading this book (and I really wonder why I never thought of reading one. Hmm~). So basically, this is my first 'zombie' themed book and it went really well. Hurrah! It was good and I liked it. Though it may not be as gruesome and creepy as I had expected it was still a fun and enjoyable read.
The Other Life has an exciting and interesting plot with really great and cool characters. I love Sherry's voice. I immediately saw that she's a strong and determined heroine. She never pretends that she's not afraid and definitely has fears but she's a loyal and determined person especially when it comes to her family and to other people she loves. Joshua, driven by the awful things that happened to her family, had become a really tough and brave person. He's very caring and thoughtful and never think twice in helping other people. Whenever he could get someone to save he would always do it and I really admire that about him.
The premise may not have been super original - invented a virus that had gone wrong, infected the whole city, the government or some big freakin' organization being behind it - it was still able to surprise me by some of its twist. I just thought it could have been more sinister. I was really expecting more of actions, chasing and fighting. I was waiting for something that would make my heart pound from excitement and nervousness and make me cringe in all its gruesomeness. Well, the story delivered enough, I just wanted more. lol! (Yeah, I have twisted sense of humor and I am proud of it! lol!)
Anyway, it was still really a fascinating read and I'm very much curious on what's gonna happen next and how they will be facing those challenges. I hope the next book would be as good as this one or even better, more thrilling, gripping and heart-attack inducing.

As much as I was happy and excited to see a spin-off of my favorite urban-fantasy series it was hard not to have uncertainties and doubts about it. Like everyone else who'd love the first Iron Fey series I was extremely anxious this new series might not lived up to Meghan and Ash's story. But lo and behold, this book has literally kicked my ass and has proven my doubts wrong! Kagawa has made another book that has strengthened my trust and faith in her writing skills. She's done it again and boy was it ever amazing.
I found myself again entranced and fascinated by this world Kagawa made. I enjoyed exploring this intricate and dangerous world of fey yet wonderful and enthralling at the same time. It's clear that Kagawa is really expert when it comes to the world-building of Feys. I love how she never ran out of twists and turns that would make it even more interesting and intriguing. Other than that it was her characters that just made everything more captivating.
Ethan is a character I have connected so very well. I never met such character in which whatever he felt I felt. I was never angry at him nor did I question his take and feelings on things. Now that may sounds like I'm totally biased but what I thought was that I was just only able to completely put my self in his shoes thus making it easier to understand his every intents, emotions and actions. So when he got pissed with Tod I was pissed too; when he was annoyed with Kenzie I was too; when he got angry with Meghan I was too; when he was anxious, when he was hurting; when he was please, delighted, happy, I was too. He was a character that is easy to like, connect and understand. I see where all the bitterness and sadness were coming. But he's a character with such strong-will and very passionate heart. It was great to see this scared and vulnerable little boy on the first Iron Fey book to grow up into such a brave and wonderful character.
I didn't like Kenzie right away. I felt like she was nosy and too meddling for her own good. But I kept telling myself that it wouldn't go more interesting if her character wasn't like that. As the story went on I soon find myself warming to her and was surprised by how well she handled herself despite all the unbelievable things that she'd experienced and witnessed. She was genuinely kind and caring and very understanding. Her braveness was impressive and I admire how she took every moments preciously (I later found out why that is).
What I also enjoyed most was meeting Keirran, Ash and Meghan's son! He was definitely a mixture of the two. I can't help but love and adore him too. Yes yes, long haired guys aren't my thing but I'll make an exception for him (along with Christian McKeltar and Legolas). He was so charming and genuine which is so Meghan but when things got a little intense and he gets all serious and cold, he was so like Ash.
Overall, I am very much happy to say that The Lost Prince is a very wonderful and fascinating read. With the captivating world-building, surprising and full of twists plot, awesome and fantastic characters I can say that this new series has a lot of potential to be as successful as the first Iron Fey series. I am definitely looking forward for more. I recommend this. You're gonna love Ethan and Keirran!

After reading the blurb I thought it was a heavy read. Because, you see, it involves some devastating and depressing incidents. But surprisingly it was not, in fact it was actually a pretty light read but with great in depth lessons. I was touched and moved by this story and although I think I get a bit teary-eyed on some parts it wasn't really a depressing story.
Jake's story was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. And I couldn't help but be impressed by this boy and by the way he faced and accepted his situation. Jake didn't let himself be overcome by self-pity even when I know it was hurting him really bad. I was waiting for him to breakdown and cry and get angry over his loss but he never did and I was really touched by it I think I teared up a little.
Sam was a really strong character. I didn't like her right away and how she reacted on some stuffs on the earlier parts but when I learned her story I finally like and understand her. Through her Jake was able to realized that he has a lot to be happy about despite not being able to speak. I really love how Jake and Sam were able to find and save each other.
The love story was sweet and very touching. I did find some bits of it a little corny and some dramas had me saying 'ohkaaaay' but sill the message and lessons the author wanted the reader to see was very well conveyed. It was beautiful and poignant. There are so many things in this world we should be grateful about and shouldn't be taken for granted, that there are a lot worse out there that we couldn't even imagine but we have to see the good things we have even the simplest things.
Overall, this was a very heartwarming and touching book that teaches great and wonderful lessons. I really enjoyed it and I love to recommend this to you guys! :))

While I did have some issues with the writing, primarily with the romance and sometimes a little on the heroine I can say that it had shown quite a number of potential to be a good series. Maybe just a little improvement here and there.
Farley was a character I couldn't identify with immediately. I wasn't sure what to really think of her character at first and it took me some times to get used to her. I don't know if she's tough or just really hardheaded. She did grow throughout the story though and I like that when awful and terrible things happened and even though she was extremely hurt, emotionally and physically, she wasn't the kind of character who moped around and succumbs to loneliness. She faced her problems, trained and made herself strong and useful.
Daniel was this gorgeous, hot and a bit of a jerk hero. He was secretive, arrogant and could be really harsh at times. He didn't quite appeal on me that much but when I learned of his story and his reasons behind that kind of facade I think I understand his character better.
Now for the romance, I had some issues here because most of the time it kinda feel a bit awkward for me. I didn't like the early assumptions of the other characters about the attraction between Farley and Daniel when there were so very little shown about that yet in the story. I also think there were more of tell than show. What they say about each other were a bit stated matter-of-factly so when Farley or Daniel started admitting to their selves that they are indeed attracted to one another it was a little hard for me to believe. Still, I wanted the two to be together and have a happy ending and I think the writing did improve towards the end.
The idea and concept of the Immortals were good but what I love the most here were the Whytes! They're creepy, deadly, sinister and gory. The way they were described was just enough to make the story a bit more thrilling and exciting. I just wished they played a bigger part in the story. lol!
Another thing, the ending felt like a bit cut short for me. But I guess it's okay, I don't really mind though. Overall, this was a pretty decent read. Although I wasn't overly thrilled and captivated by this book it still kept me entertained throughout the story. You might like this more than me especially if you're into paranormal books. :)
*A big thank you to Ms. Frankie Rose for providing me a copy of this book! :)

It was so much more than I had expected. I was surprised to find that this book has such a wonderful plot and depth that was just so emotionally gripping and utterly heartbreaking. I'd never thought a novel of this genre would make quite an impact on me but this one did.
What's so wonderful about this book was how the author captured the struggles and emotions of each characters beautifully yet realistically through words and phrases in a way that would make you be involved with them, be connected with them in such a level that you could totally feel and understand what they were going through.
It was so easy to sympathized with them yet it was hard to think what you really want to happen to them. I was torn between wanting Sadie and Adam's situation and relationship to heal and be better and wanting Joe and Sadie's companionship turn into something more and deeper.
Sadie's internal struggles of finding out who she is after everything that had happened, of looking for someone who could provide her needs, someone who could make her feel special, someone who could talk to her and ask her about her problems, someone who could take care of her for once was so utterly poignant and heartbreaking that forced me to shed some few tears.
For once, I found myself reading a book where I cannot hate any of the main characters. No matter how flawed or wrong or frustrating they could be. I was left to understand them and their situation. And with that I saw how strong and admiring these characters could be too.
Although this was categorize as an erotic-romance novel I could say that it is way more than that. I'm not much into this kind of genre and even though some parts of it were quite uncomfortable for me, setting those aside, the emotional aspect of this book and it's profundity is absolutely wonderful and very compelling. I love how the author crafted her words into such beautiful and riveting lines and dialogues that could bring out intense emotions from you. I'm glad I was able to read this. This was such a new but wonderful experience for me. I recommend this. (less)

I wasn't really planning to request this when I saw this in Netgalley, I think I actually kinda brushed it off but when lots of positive reviews started popping out, I realize what a wrong move I did. So I run off (fast) to Netgalley hoping it was still up there. Fortunately, it was and I was able to request it (Yay!). And boy, I tell you, this book did not disappoint. It is abso-freaking-lutely awesome! :D
Ananna is a very appealing character. She's honest, impulsive and could be so stubborn to sometimes, which I think just added more to her appeal. She's a brave, caring and compassionate character though she could be harsh sometimes especially with the ways she talks but you can see from her actions that she's genuinely kind. I love how she took responsibility with her actions and decisions and face the consequences with it.
Naji on the other hand was a very enigmatic one. I love discovering more of him and see different sides of him as he let some of it slip. He was a skillful and deadly assassin, kinda aloof but I love that the author let us sometimes see a vulnerable side of him making it more easy to reach and connect with his character. I especially loved it when Ananna gets to be so protective of him whenever people make remarks with his scar.
The world-building is wonderfully done. I enjoyed the journey this two had into finding a way to break the curse. It was actually a fun one, they discovered and learned a lot of things, met other people and faced different obstacles. I love how it made us see and learn more about their world. The writing is very well-paced too. It was smooth and very easy to follow. I actually sped through this. The ending though a bit anticlimactic still offered something more for us to look forward in the next book.
The Assassin's Curse is a very fun and entertaining read. I enjoyed every bit of it, the world, the characters, their journey and all the other stuff with it. I'm absolutely looking forward for more. I highly recommend this.

It was my first book of Samantha Young and I didn't even know that she'd published a number of young-adult books before this and this is actually her first contemporary adult book. After reading this, I can say that Young is a talented writer and she sure knows what she was writing. The emotional depth and profundity of this book is very well showed and it successfully reached into me. I love how effectively she portrayed Jocelyn, the main character, that despite her flaws, mistakes and faults she was a character we understand. I love that she takes action; she knows she needed to see a therapist and she did it; she talk and thought of the things told on her and consider them. Although she gets to be stubborn and yes, definitely frustrating I can see how real and honest her character was written. The romance was definitely a winner for me. Branden is the kind of guy you'd totally love to be with. He was very persistent (in a cute and very sweet way), understanding and patient. I love how he never gave up on Jocelyn despite her streaks. This is not just some steamy romance novel because this book definitely has a lot more of depth that I had expected; it talks about friendship, acceptance, and forgiveness, overcoming fear and moving forward. This is a very worthy read. I totally love to recommend this.

Freedom Road is a story of a girl's journey in rediscovering herself and reaching her dreams even when almost everything in her life seems to be shattering and crumbling. Sam's story has definitely inspired and touched me in many ways. And this being a music-themed book had my heart even more captivated with it.
Sam is a very talented and gifted girl. Her guitar had become her solace from her very dysfunctional family and broken life. She developed a fiery passion for playing it and it became her dream to get into Julliard. However an "accident" happened that caused her to not almost be able to play. She was disheartened and discouraged and thought that she lost the only thing that really matters to her - her playing. But she met two people that truly cared and believed in her gift despite her new disability. Through them Sam found new confidence to continue playing and reasons why she should not give up.
For someone who knows how to play a guitar, I can say that Sam and I had developed quite a bond in this book. (Although my ability to play doesn't even reached quarter of hers. Haha!) I can say that I was really able to relate to her especially with her passion for playing the guitar. I understand why she was discouraged after the accident when some people might think that it wasn't really that big of a deal. I can imagine who hard it is for her to continue having that disability. But Sam is different, she is truly a gifted child. Her passion and love for playing is very remarkable and impressive. And so with the help of the people who truly cared for her she was able to stand up and believe in herself again. I also love how she was able to realize and learn a lot of things through her journey. Her character really progressed as the story went on and she became a very admirable character.
The writing is wonderful too. I can feel the intensity of Sam's passion in every word and phrases that describes her playing. The emotions were very well layered and I was able to really feel the heartaches and despair of the characters in this book especially with her family.
The secondary characters, Tad and Laird were both really great. I really adore the both of them. Tad was a very funny and interesting boy and I love how insightful he could be sometimes. Laird was just really sweet and supportive. Moments between him and Sam were just really cute and yeah, swoon-worthy.
Overall, this book is such a wonderful work. The plot line was very well thought and I love how the author showed insights about growth, forgiveness, acceptance and love. But most of all the passion for music. I was definitely inspired and touched by Sam's story. I recommend this. :)
