Cinder made me laugh and at times I wanted to cry and be so very angry. The ending was sort of bittersweet leaving me feeling sad because of the way things were left with Prince Kai and I cant wait for the next installment of Cinder so I can see The Lunar Queen get hers because she does have it coming that's for sure! She is so mean and vindictive..almost could be a sister to Cinder's stepmother! She is just being so unreasonable.
Cinder is a true Cinderella in my book as everybody she cares about has been taken from her at some point and time but she has the spirit and spunk of a warrior and I just know she is going to come back all systems blazing and kick some serious butt in the next book and I will be right there front row and center to cheer her on!
IN lieu of reading the book I listened to the CD version from Macmillan Audio and Rebecca Soler did a Fantastic job reading it! She had a separate tone/voice for each character and her voice was not dull like some audio's I've listened to. Thanks again MacMillan! (less)

I saw that trailer and OMG just had to rush out and get Retribution! I am usually so very anal about needing to read books in order if they are in a series but was assured that I should be able to read these without worrying about that. So I took a chance and broke my "code" lol
I really enjoyed the story and Jess I could just melt for with his quirky attitude and humor. But Abigail....I really really wanted to knock her senseless when she first came into the picture. She was like a loose cannon killing anything that moved and had an air of hostility based soley on sombody elses word. I dont think I could just go on a killing rampage like that without having some kind of actual proof. In her defence though she really did do alot of changing and growing up in Retribution once she followed her heart and not her loose emotions and eventually her and Jess joined forces to right some wrongs that had been set into motion.
I did feel a bit overwhelmed during my reading at times because I felt like there were so many evil things and people involved that I couldn't keep anybody straight except for basically Jess and Abigail but as I mentioned already this was my first book of Sherrilyn's and already have done some research and gathered that alot of these creatures and persons were introduced and in previous stories and I just need to go back and start at the beginning which I FULLY intend on doing!(less)

The feeling that nobody would care if you shriveled up and died and dying is just what she was contemplating when the two guys walk up to her on the beach that day. She certainly had not planned on falling in love!
Az (a fallen angel) is hiding his secret from Eden and Gabrielle (an angel) discovers that Eden has no path. She is what is known as a sider which is one who is bound to commit suicide and come back to live among the living to pass "touch".
Naturally angels and siders are not supposed to mix so things begin to get shady now and as Eden begins to think of life without Az she suddenly takes the suicide plunge she was about to take before and wakes up to a whole new world. A world where death is so totally NOT as she had imagined it!
I loved this book but it does get bogged down somewhat with alot of new beings and I found myself having to reread a few passages to understand who was what and why but once you get past those parts it really comes together for a nice finish.

Then I got immersed into the beginning of a wonderful romance only to have it interrupted by what I would call a brief commercial and then when the regularly scheduled program comes back on it's "to be continued" (sigh)
Overall I did like the story though. It was fresh and the chimaera fascinated me as well as the teeth trades which was pretty wicked but yet cool in a way. I thought it was awesome for Karou to be able to grow her hair blue. That would be neat!
I feel as though I liked the story enough to pick up the next book because I just have to know what happens next! (less)

It took me a long time to finish reading it because I would keep sitting it down and picking others up thinking I was just not in the right frame of mind for this particular type of read but sadly my feelings never changed until the ending. The last couple of chapters were the best in the entire book.
The first problem I encountered was I felt cheated out of Cassie's relationship with Jack. As the story begins she has already had it and broken up with him to move away to Bellevue because she doesn't trust him enough to tell him about her secret but then she winds up falling for a new guy, Zander, who has deadly secrets of his own. Although creepy and a user I really enjoyed the introduction of Zander and hope to see him in a future book.
Another thing for me it was just to slow moving and got to bogged down with the retelling of The Mark and all the religious traditions and customs. While tidbits of it were interesting I just didn't understand the point in it all as it didn't help Cassie at all with her questions?
If you've not read The Mark I say read it it's really good but The Vision can certainly be read as a stand alone book. It's not "that" bad of a story at all it's just after having read The Mark I guess my expectations were really high for the second book.(less)
