It's not perfectly written, technique wise, but that's a very small issue to gloss over when an author takes a story like this and makes it work. While a lot of people are just swooning over the hero, a really really bad boy, I am just feeling so sorry for him, and for the girl that he loves. And I also feel for the girl who clearly has always loved him.
People, yes, this is fiction, but I think the author did a great job in showing ordinary kids who get messed up mentally and misplace and redirect their pain and anger. I see it in a lot of young people I know. And well, adults do it too.
In some ways, we can all be a bully at times, sometimes for a moment, a day, a week, or like Jared, for years as he worked out how to cope with his totally messed up life. The story could have been even more gritty and I would have been happy with it. But I am never going to forget it.
At times, it was funny and charming, at times very sexy, and at other times, it broke my heart. And it's been a very long time since I was a teenager.
This book has also taught to think outside my little box. If I had not been advised to read some odd little contemporary romance in YA, I would never have found this book.
I think that if I were a young girl or woman, I would love this book so much, because, people I am an old lady and I know it's great story. A very simple story in some ways, in plot, etc. but a good story. I am going to read the rest of the series, because I know it's going to be a worthwhile experience. Highly recommended for all YA book lovers and lovers of a good romance. Because this is a LOVE STORY.(less)

They meet on a bus, strike up a friendship, and end up falling in bed and in love. That's the heart of the entire story with most of the setting a road trip. It was uneven in places and sentimental, but I really liked it a lot. It was sweet, simple, basically clean and sexy, about two people finding each other. Highly readable. A good example of how to do present tense.(less)

I actually liked this one better than Lick. I suppose it was because of the dialogue and pacing, it just flew by and these two had some of the best chemistry, though I think at times, less sex would have been better. But this book had a lot of sexual chemistry in it, much more than the first one.
But Mal was really a wild and funny guy, and Anne was his match. They made a perfect couple.
This, I believe would make a great movie. It would be hilarious, sexy, and even sad at times, for a rock star drummer to fall for a pretty normal girl who never finished high school, and each of them carry some sad baggage that has nothing to do with rock bands and music.
I read it in one sitting, of course, it took me a few hours. (less)
