In this novel we get a Desperate Housewives style narrative focusing in on four women (Kellie, Susan, Gigi, & Tessa) all living within the same community and the drama and secrets that exist underneath the perfect Newport Cove facades that they wear.
Each of the women was wonderfully fleshed out and made entirely believable. I was invested from the beginning and was compelled to keep listening to discover what was really going on in this sleepy town and in particular to find out what secrets Tessa was hiding.
The stories of the four women were woven seamlessly throughout as they interact with each other and their families and we peek in as voyeurs through the window and see much more than intended. I wouldn’t necessarily say that the plot here was unique but I believe that the character development and the way they meshed together made this book better than the sum of it’s parts.
A compelling read, Sarah Pekkanen does not disappoint with The Perfect Neighbors.
Madeleine Maby did a great job bringing The Perfect Neighbors to life. Her voice fit Newport Cove and Pekkanen’s writing perfectly....more

And although the premise and the cover didn’t initially appeal to me, after reading so many great reviews I decided to bite the bullet and step a bit outside of my comfort zone with this one!
And boy am I glad that I did. Nuts satisfied so many reading itches. It was well written, charming, funny, heartwarming and the sexy parts just worked!
Seriously folks – Nuts has it all!
I loved the charm of the small town setting and all of the characters! The supporting characters were great and I absolutely adored both Roxie and Leo! A feisty chef and a sexy as all get out farmer? What’s not not love?!
The sexy parts were just the perfect combination of heat, affection and witty and somewhat bawdy banter. I could have listened to these two go at it all day! (Of course I am referring to the banter! ;-p
And the humor…my gosh I literally laughed out loud throughout this whole book! I could not get enough!
I seriously did not want this book to end and I doubt you will either! If you want a read that will leave you will a huge grin and a hit of happy…definitely pick up Nuts by Alice Clayton!
Shayna Thibodeaux & Sebastian York (who we sadly only got to listen to in the Epilogue) were perfect in their roles and delivered an amazing performance that allowed me to seamlessly enter Clayton’s world....more

I will say that this book almost made me wish that my commute was longer! I didn’t ever want to stop listening. It just kept getting better and better an sucking me in further. I could not believe it as secret after secret, layer by layer was revealed. What a main character! He is so completely twisted up (spoiler alert-he is definitely a psychopath) but at the same time I could not help but like him!
I definitely recommend this one highly if you like psychological thrillers and complex main characters!!
Corey Brill is excellent. He also narrated The Troop which I listened to last year. I’ll definitely be checking to see what else he has worked on....more

Pekkanen handles a difficult subject with deftness and gravity. Giving us lots of windows into one event.
In the aftermath of a Police shooting, we have a family falling apart. And all we can do is watch and wait and hope to see if they will be able to pull themselves back together and move on… There is plenty of emotional drama here and a few side stories that weave all of the characters together.
Most of the characters including the children were all a little frustrating but all the more realistic for that, especially considering what they were going through. Lou however was such a delight that I wish we could have a spin-off with just her story…and the elephants of course.
Things You Won’t Say is another solid read. Pekkanen has quickly moved to my auto-buy list.
Cassandra Campbell is always a delight. She narrated wonderfully allowing me to immerse myself completely in the story and forget everything else....more
