I appreciate Lippert's decision to continue these series, but I didn't enjoy it. I don't think he is a good writer, since the book was filled with unessecary dialogs that annoyed me so much. I'd read this in a review of a friend and I said to myself that I like long dialogs, it shouldn't be a problem. Well, turns out I was wrong. Also, Lippert uses his imagination and makes stuff up that are only his, but those stuff just manage to destroy the story. The book ends up so boring and repeats itself so much that it's unbearable. (view spoiler)[ Albus seemed such a nice boy before the Sorting. How come after the Sorting he behaves like a jerk? Also, the writer indicates that Slytherins may have changed. To that I must answer, some things never change . They have a tradition of over a 1000 years of evilness, why would they stop so suddenly, in just 19 years? And Muggle can't be a Slytherin, he's a Muggle-born! it's not humanly possible! The Sorting hat was invented from the great 4 to place students where they want them! Salazar Slytherin didnt want muggle-borns, so he never had one...And Scorpio is so annoying... if he wanted Slytherin so bad, why didn't he just ask it? (hide spoiler)] what I dont like most about those James Potter series is the fact that the children of the old heroes are like... repeating all the time what their parents did or faced. Dont tell me you didnt notice. in our parent's times, he fought with the snake and how great he was, dad did that, mum did that... They actually sit together and chat about what their parents did and there's a similar reference at least every 10 pages. It's unnatural. Kids dont think so much about what their parents do, especially when they're so young. After all, I know by heart what Harry did and if I have forgotten it I'll just get my book and read it, I dont want Lippert to remind me every 5 minutes. plus, The known characters seem a lot out of place. Harry, Ginny, George, Hermione, McGonagal(!), Mrs Weasly... They're not like them. In the beginning Harry tells James about his father and Sirius Black and... it was so unlike him. He talked about them as if they were total strangers..(his father, okay, even if this was weird too, but SIRIUS?) And I kind of felt bad... I dont like those books... I get kind of weird and defesive when it's about Harry Potter, I know. Those spoilers are not really spoilers, they're just notes about the book, that you may not be interested in, so I hide them. :)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

It's not a book for fun or entertainment and I dont recommend it to you if that's what you seek. It's a book that made me feel so awful, and I can only imagine what Nyjood has been through. It is a real story, with facts, which actually makes it a lot more horrible. I just looked at the cover and the pictures and thought that she looks so little and beautiful. What kind of monster could do this to her? Thank god, she found her way out and inspired many girls to do the same. So bravo Nyjood! I wish that everything goes well in your life. The world will always remember you, as the girl who said no and made a start for a better future for women and girls in Yemen. The book is very simple and fast-paced, which is good because it keeps us close to the facts. I recommend this so that more people can learn about horrible things that happen in this world, as most have no idea. This way we can all unite and make this world a better place to live.(less)

Allegiance, despite the war and hytanica's defeat, ended pretty well. I loved the ending, and I just cant imagine what is going to happen next. Is Hytanica going to be free? Will a new enemy appear? Will any other die? Will Nantilam die without having a heir? That would be quite a scandal. I hope she doesnt, I liked her from the first book. She is one of my favourite characters..!Plus, Kokyri is really cool, with all those weapons and the women fighters! I dont like the Hytanican's that much, because they underestimate women and believe they are superior. -.- i look forward to reading it! please let it be released in 2012...(less)

I just finished this book and I am beyond shaken. I'm practically walking aimlessly around the house thinking about it and my heart is beating so fast and I can't sit down at all. I dont know, have you ever had that feeling? I hope there's nothing wrong with me... You just read one of the many side effects that this awesome book can cause . It was not amazing. It was ingenius .
At first I thought it was kind of boring. I had to force myself to keep reading, which is something that was never needed for a TMI book. The City of Souls lacked a lot of things the books before didn't. Jace- as Jace was not there except some brief moments,so no witty comments. I really missed him. It was so much different. Also, another thing that made my heart beat fast and annoyed me(the no,-dont-change-the-subject-I-want-Jace-and-Clary type of annoyance) is that the heroes were as if divided in 3 teams- ''Team Good'', ''Team Evil'' and ''Team Maia and Jordan''. So, while I wanted to see more of Team Evil(Jace, Sebastian, Clary) , the next chapter was about the others! Which is really frustrating... But a nice thing as well. I'm not a patient person; it was hard not to cheat. And I felt like I needed this, to know the rest, which just proves the talent of this amazing author.
Clary We see Clary go to a whole new level here. She is amazingly brave. She kills a few demons and handles Sebastian on her own and doing an amazing job as well. I like her a lot now and have come to respect her.
Sebastian He is creepy . The parts with him were indeed the best in the book, but with him just present I felt jolts of fear and shudder. (view spoiler)[ At first I was convinced he wasn't good, even though he didn't sound like that, but after a little while I had doubts. I got convιnced that Jace's blood had changed him, only to find out that he is a total bastard and played with our trust. And even if he was truly alright, who could actually trust him, since he'd learned to fake every human feeling? Well, I fell for it- not comlpetely, but I did. (hide spoiler)] The whole Sebastian thing is what made me call this book ingenius.(And the part with Alec- Magnus. I just couldn't bear to read it... so sad) Even though i hate that bastard(sorry for any rudeness) sebastian is the best villain. He's a lot better than valentine- or in this case, worse. i thought Valentine was boring since he barely felt any emotion. I love it when both the good and the bad guys have and show their feelings, like Sebastian(his anger, loath, jeaousy etc are obvious in many parts) . i can say that here is finally a villain that makes me wanna scream '' I WANT HIM DEAD OR TORTURED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED!!''. Valentine didn't have that thing Sebastian does, i didnt care whether he lived or died. Sebastian is plain evil. He's creepy. *shudders*
I enjoyed this book. It is different than the others before it. It was more tense, dark and violent and I just can't help thinking about what is going to come next.
They're gonna be two awfully long years.
Some quotes that made my day(if you consider it spoiler don't read it- even though I dont count it as one):
(Jace) ''Is there anything special you want to see? Paris? Budapest? The Leaning tower of Pisa? Only if it falls on Sebastian's head , Clary thought.
(Sebastian)''Honestly Jace,'' he said. ''The idea that you thought you could get away with something like this just knocks me out.'' (Jace) ''Next time... you want to be knocked out... I'd be happy to help you. Maybe with a brick,'' he said breathless.
Have fun! ;D["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

Alera i loved most of the characters. i like Alera, despite her betrayal to London, because she is not stupid like the other girls there, she wants to be free and make her own choices. sometimes i wanted to shoot at her ''dont let him treat you like that! say something!'' when she spoke with Steldor, her stupid bodygueard Tandark or her father and she annoyed me a lot, but i know that she grew up believing she was not equal to any of them, so her behavior is understandable. it still bothers me that she didnt react, but now i see the change in allegiance and admire her for her actions.
Steldor at first i hated Steldor. he made me so, so angry! his behavior towards Alera is awful. he treats her with total disrespect and doesnt seem to notice or care about her wishes. i was delighted when Narian kicked his a*s. oh, my sweet Narian *smirk* . near the end of the book, i started to like him a little bit more. just a little. i still disliked him. maybe because i was too busy crying about their forced marriage and Narian's absence, i dont know...
Narian i love him! you can see some darkness inside him, signs that he is hurt. he is always cautious and watches everything when others are in front. he has had a hard childhood in Cokyri(we see that mostly in the next book) and trusts no one(except Alera maybe).i love how sweet and caring he is towards her. he respects her and treats her as his equal, unlike Steldor. also, i love the fact that everybody in Hytanica seems to think that he is a young boy with no way to protect himself, has no weapons and is scared of them. how wrong they are! Narian seems harmless, but he is a total badass(take that, Steldor!). and i love that despite his origins, he sticks to the Cokyrian ways, even during his stay in Hytanica.
now, my two favourite characters... London and Nadilam yes, Nadilam, the Cokyrian, is my favourite. that's because she is strong, brave, mischevious, crafty, ruthless and all those stuff that make me fall for the bad guys.( okey, she is not really the bad guy here, even though it seems like that. but i wont say more about that) and she is also beautiful, but that hardly matters. i love her because she can scare me and make me look at her in awe. she is the exact opposite of the women in Hytanica. i love how is is a woman and yet fight, taunt and humiliate men. she is better than them all. and i probably love her because she is not that bad after all. no, that's not it. she is the villain type, in a way, but she is not evil and heartless. i am looking forward to reading about her in the third book! i hope she doesnt die!! London i like because he is sarcastic, nice, clever, he isnt scared to react and speak what he thinks and he has a backstory with Nadilam and Cokyri. he is the only one who knows how to handle Nadilam and Narian, the only one they dont manage to fool.
i found myself secretly supporting Cokyri, despite the fact that Alera is from Hytanica. that's probably because of the way Hytanican men treat women and my fondness for Nadilam and Narian. and ninjas.(sorry , had to say that) for some weird reason Cokyrians remind me of ninjas. sort of. ugh, please dont pay attention to the stupid stuff, i'm just tired.
to sum up, legacy is an amazing book and Kayla Cluver an amazing young writer. the second book is a lot better in writing, we can she that the author has improved. i totally recomend both!
ps1: some things about characters aree a mix from the first and the second book ps2: sorry about any mistakes. english is not my mother-tongue. (less)

Boys are not like that, they don't express their feelings the same way girls do, much less express them so bluntly in letters. I've noticed that in Jace(from the Mortal Instruments) as well. This letter is everything a girl would like to hear but never would, because boys think and love in a different way. (Of course, there are exceptions in every rule) Personally if someone sent me that letter I'd be like what the hell, what's wrong with him (and many people I think) but that's real life, I guess, and things are different.
well, it's still unfinished and i got it in january. I just cant bring myself to read that book. im not that much of a masochist. now, let me tell you the reasons why this book is unbearable to me:
First of all, it evolves very very slowly . They will do nothing, just silly things at first. the interesting part starts a lot after the 150th page.
the other thing that got me mad is all this heartbreaking. now, dont get me wrong, im not the oh, i cant believe this happened, im gonna die or team Will forever type, no not at all. I dont give a damn who that stupid girl chooses, as long as she does choose! it annoys me so much! just DECIDE! dont make us being miserable for your stupid problems. Well, im not really sad for her, just for Will. wich leads us to another big reason . THIS GUY IS SO STUPID! okay, it may sound harsh, but how could he actually believe that what the demon said was true? and that all those people in the institute didnt love him?without even asking and searshing? ugh, i mean, at least ASK somebody, somebody who knows about demons! this is just plain stupid.
and... DA DA! we reach a vital one. in the whole book, they didnt meet that guy Mortimer and there was no action with him! he is the main villain and we hardly know anything about him the whole 2 books. i know that probably everything will be revealed in the last book, but we need to learn some stuff to make asumptions etc etc.
and last but not least..... my top reason for putting aside this book. i dont know if you noticed it too(well you probably did, it happened in every important discussion) but whenever somebody had an important discussion or something was about to be revealed, somebody disrupts the heroes by coming or by doing something and they stop!! at first, i was ok with that. it happens a lot in books, so it didnt affect me . at first. after the third or the fourth time, i was so furious! i knew exactly the moment when somebody was going to step in , not because i had read the chapter, but because no important thing was ever revealed! somebody always stopped the conversation! and it is also annoying because it happened many times repeatedly. the author could have found another way to keep our interest . i presonally didnt enjoy this book. and i dont think there was actually even one that did. this book is full of misery and sadness for stupid matters.(less)

I started reading it a long time ago but then left it aside for something different. However, I picked it up again and finished it in only one day.
The writing isn’t bad but not something special either and the story is not new. However, it is fast-paced and deprived of many details, which makes it a bit juvenile but easy to follow. It does not belong in the category of books that after their ending make you think , question and interpret, but it’s entertaining if you’re bored and just want to relax.
What I didnt like is the fact that everything happens so fast that is it unrealistic. For instance, Wendy is at first afraid of Fin and thinks he is creepy. The next day precicely decides that she is in love with him and leaves the only people that ever loved her to go and live to the parent that gave her away and STOLE ANOTHER BABY. By the way, doesnt she even question the fact that they steal babies and treat them like crap? I would personally hate those people even if they were the king and queen and my long lost parents. ..! It’s so awful!
Heroes I didnt particularly like anyone (maybe except Ric). There is not character development in this book and the heroes are kind of shallow and stupid. And especially the protagonist, Wendy. Fin (her protector) saves her from an attack and then tells her that her brother is not her brother and she needs to go with him to find her true mother who actually gave her away to a rich family to get their money and stole their real kid.
Natural reaction: Throw creepy Fin in a well, call the police, start screaming until somebody hears you, do a lot of swearing. Wendy reaction: decides that the boy who has been in her school for just 2 weeks and she has known for 2 days is right and decides to leave the people who made real sacrifices for her and loved her. Isnt that selfish and stupid?
Also, when she arrives to see her mother, she does whatever she is told even though she doesnt know those people and owes them nothing. Parents are called the people that bring you up and love you, not the ones that give birth to you and place you to somebody else’s hands. She owes her biological mother nothing , yet she tolerates being yelled at and taunted. No person would do that. The characters are all shallow. The whole book is shallow.
However, I’ll give it 3 (2.5) stars because I read it in one day, even though I was pretty bored then. Also, because I’m probably going to read the next book just out of curiocity.
I recommend this if you are bored and want an easy read, but if not, there are a lot better , more entertaining and meaning-full books to buy. (less)

Maybe im just bored and disgusted of all those books with vampires. That surely played a part, but there are many other reasons.
First of all, I liked the writing, probably the only thing i liked. It was good. If only the story was too... To start with, i HATE the protagonist, Bianca. I even hated her before I learned that she is a vampire and ''forgot to mention it''. Why?
Because she is a total nerd! Okay, im a nerd too. i read books like there's no tomorrow and bring my homework along when i meet with my friends, but Bianca, oh, she's another thing. She is all the time with her parents! She likes the same books, movies and stuff as they do, and runs to them whenever something goes wrong and doesnt argue with them even when SHE SHOULD! Sometimes she should be mad with her parents... And she doesnt suspect them at all and got mad when lucas said the obvious, that they re weird and try to isolate her. it drives me crazy! I mean, how can she has total faith to her parents and dont say A WORD when they make her do something she doesnt like or when somebody says something bad about them but logical? she is so stupid...
also, there's another reason why i dont like the character, or the book. The ''big'' revelation, of course.
-Well, im probably the one of the very few ones that once recieved the shock , got mad. i got so, soo mad at the writer and that stupid girl, Bianca! Not because I dont like shocking events on books and revelations, I actually love them. but i love them when done THE RIGHT WAY. I got mad because IT WAS FROM BIANCA'S POV! she should have mentioned something like that, or the fact that she was drinking blood! She just kept on talking about how snobbish and weird her new classmates were, and NEVER EVER mentioned that she new WHY (I had guessed, but still) . Only after she bit the poor boy, who was unlucky enough to fall in love with her, she explained. Not that i like him. They kind of deserve each other.
I didnt feel like a big revelation was made. I felt like the author pulled a prank on me, and felt betrayed and deceived. Because that's not the way it should be. When you see things from somebodys POV, you share important things with him/her and try to work out the truth with the clues she or he finds! I feel like that's cheating.
from now on, i think i'll stick to books with the traditional old vampires, since the ''new'' ones are a total failure. or ill just not read any book with vampires as heroes at all. What an amazing idea.
I sincerely believe that the time vampires ruled the world of books is over. I see it in me and I dont think I'm the only one believing that.(less)
