However on the other hand, I've read a lot of reviews that say this book takes away the magic of harry potter, brings Americans into it(i just dont think they fit. they were never mentioned in the official Hp books) and logical explanations for magic(preposterous!). So im kind of scared that this book will ruin the fantastic memories I've got from Harry Potter. Also, I kind of feel a little bit as if Im betraying JK Rowling. She should be the one writing this. Somebody messing with the world she created... just the thought makes my blood boil. Hoewever, I think im going to try this, because im really really bored,so I'll see for myself and bring a proper review. :) (less)

I appreciate Lippert's decision to continue these series, but I didn't enjoy it. I don't think he is a good writer, since the book was filled with unessecary dialogs that annoyed me so much. I'd read this in a review of a friend and I said to myself that I like long dialogs, it shouldn't be a problem. Well, turns out I was wrong. Also, Lippert uses his imagination and makes stuff up that are only his, but those stuff just manage to destroy the story. The book ends up so boring and repeats itself so much that it's unbearable. (view spoiler)[ Albus seemed such a nice boy before the Sorting. How come after the Sorting he behaves like a jerk? Also, the writer indicates that Slytherins may have changed. To that I must answer, some things never change . They have a tradition of over a 1000 years of evilness, why would they stop so suddenly, in just 19 years? And Muggle can't be a Slytherin, he's a Muggle-born! it's not humanly possible! The Sorting hat was invented from the great 4 to place students where they want them! Salazar Slytherin didnt want muggle-borns, so he never had one...And Scorpio is so annoying... if he wanted Slytherin so bad, why didn't he just ask it? (hide spoiler)] what I dont like most about those James Potter series is the fact that the children of the old heroes are like... repeating all the time what their parents did or faced. Dont tell me you didnt notice. in our parent's times, he fought with the snake and how great he was, dad did that, mum did that... They actually sit together and chat about what their parents did and there's a similar reference at least every 10 pages. It's unnatural. Kids dont think so much about what their parents do, especially when they're so young. After all, I know by heart what Harry did and if I have forgotten it I'll just get my book and read it, I dont want Lippert to remind me every 5 minutes. plus, The known characters seem a lot out of place. Harry, Ginny, George, Hermione, McGonagal(!), Mrs Weasly... They're not like them. In the beginning Harry tells James about his father and Sirius Black and... it was so unlike him. He talked about them as if they were total strangers..(his father, okay, even if this was weird too, but SIRIUS?) And I kind of felt bad... I dont like those books... I get kind of weird and defesive when it's about Harry Potter, I know. Those spoilers are not really spoilers, they're just notes about the book, that you may not be interested in, so I hide them. :)(less)

Must be...more okay, I can say that this is the most detailed and biggest review I've ever writen, and it's not even a big book. Hell, it's not even a book! Must be the need for Harry Potter that kicks in again after all those years. you' ll see what I mean. At first I felt so dirty since this isnt a book from Rowling, but after a little while I saw that it was a prequel with the Marauders and decided I couldnt not try it. I love The Maurauders, especially James and Sirius and I can honestly say that Im in love with both of them, even though they used to be jerks(damn me, I love them because of their jerkness and fun). I wanted a book with Marauders so badly, but J.K Rowling just wouldnt do it! :'( Im not proud myself, but i'm addicted to the characters. I love James and Sirius, their pranks and the fun they had together, the fact that they're too careless and think they're perfect and I also love their conflict with Snape and *smirk* Lily. This book, of course, isn't JK Rowling but at least it's something . Some things and information about this book I didnt like, but I just put those aside and keep what makes me happy and matches JK's world so I can have my Hp back *.* .
There were some things I didnt like. I didnt like the seeing stuff though Pettigrew's point of view, partly because I want to straggle him and partly because I cant really imagine him thinking the way Lippert had him thinking... he doesnt seem like a thinking man to me, to be honest. (not Lippert, Pettigrew!) Also, James says Snape :''you were following us. Not the kind of behavior someone would expect from the next Hogwarts Potions Master''. I feel the need to say that Snape helped Dumbledoor in secrecy just to save Lily and was still considered a Deatheater, nobody knew that Dumbledoor would help him so much. Plus, in the 3 Harry Potter book, Sirius was unaware of the fact that Snape worked in Hogwarts, so the Potters couldn't have known. Another thing that didn't match is the fact that the Potters died at the Halloween night, only a week after Pettigrew's betrayal, which means that there couldn't be a secret keeper or hideout at Christmas. It's almost a year later. But I think we can both agree that those are mionr mistakes, you need to be a true Hp dork like me to remember those stuff. Also I didn't like the reference to those nasty twins (?), the Corsicas. Again I feel the urge to say that according to Jk Rowling, no hufflepuff has ever been a dark wizard. Hufflepuffs are all really nice and the boy Corsica is a hufflepuff, while the girls is griffindor. I didnt like this reference because I didnt think it fits the plot. Also, I never really imagined Lily Evans like a fun of gossip, but that's what that made me think. I suppose the meaning of this was to show that in dark times you suspect everyone, but Lippert is kind of failing here. And I didnt like the incident with the pijamas. It sounds kind of rediculous. And weird. Also, I feel like Snape is not really like Snape. He is, of course, quirky and distant but he lacks the feeling... The real Snape(well, as real as he gets) talks less but his words have effect, and that's one of the reasons why he is terrifying and mysterious. It pretty much seems like I hated this, but I didnt. It's nice to see them all back, and kind of weird to think that they all except the baby died... I did love James, I've always been a fan, and I loved the reference to the motorbike incident.
Well, sorry for that awfully big review(even though I'm a great fan of detailed reviews). For a fan-fiction novel this isnt bad at all. the author did a great job and I thank him for bringing my heroes back. He's not Rowling of course and lacks the magical way she writes, but he is good enough for me to dream of the world of Harry Potter again.
something I'd like to note: Please dear Lippert write about the Marauders, I beg you! I'd just love to hear more of them ! Looking forward to your next work and hoping it's something about James, Lily, Sirius and Snape.
ps:I read this book and wrote this review before reading-abandoning, would be the right word- the James Potter series. Now I understand why the Corsica's were mentioned, and I dont like this reference at all >.< Maybe the Marauders are better to experiment with because the official author hasnt written so much about them, so Lippert was ''free'' to do things his own way. While I am not a great fan of his other work, this is an interesting read.(less)
