Allegiance, despite the war and hytanica's defeat, ended pretty well. I loved the ending, and I just cant imagine what is going to happen next. Is Hytanica going to be free? Will a new enemy appear? Will any other die? Will Nantilam die without having a heir? That would be quite a scandal. I hope she doesnt, I liked her from the first book. She is one of my favourite characters..!Plus, Kokyri is really cool, with all those weapons and the women fighters! I dont like the Hytanican's that much, because they underestimate women and believe they are superior. -.- i look forward to reading it! please let it be released in 2012......more

I was on holiday with a couple of friends when I started reading it and I loved it. Like the first one of the series, it is a fun and easy read, with a lot of tension but also with jokes and funny atmosphere that help you relax. I found myself many times smiling or laughing secretly while reading the book (my best friend thought I was insane xP It must have looked kind of odd, indeed). I loved every single part of this book. I think that one of the reasons those series are so likeable and successful is the dimension and maturity of the characters. They are so mature and easy to follow, which is really unusual for a paranomal novel. They are rational, have standards and goals and they are very likeable in their own way. My favourites are Adrian(no big surprise there) and Sydney. I love Sydney. Have you ever thought that there could ever be a protagonist that is so responsible, has nothing to do with boys and when she talks you don’t understand a thing because she is so clever? (kind of reminds me of ‘’the big bang theory’’… fans will understand! ;P) I assure you, there she is! She is not described beautiful or girly, yet she manages to win you over. This book has terrific character development. You learn more things about everyone and you see even the younger ones become more matured and realized. The plot was enjoyable but it was the character development that caught my attention and made me love this. It ends with a heartbreak, sadly, but thank god in February we’ll know the rest of the story. :D
I recommend these series to all the fans of paranormal books. You will not be dissapointed. (I think it would be best to start with the vampire academy, though ) ...more

I started reading it a long time ago but then left it aside for something different. However, I picked it up again and finished it in only one day.
The writing isn’t bad but not something special either and the story is not new. However, it is fast-paced and deprived of many details, which makes it a bit juvenile but easy to follow. It does not belong in the category of books that after their ending make you think , question and interpret, but it’s entertaining if you’re bored and just want to relax.
What I didnt like is the fact that everything happens so fast that is it unrealistic. For instance, Wendy is at first afraid of Fin and thinks he is creepy. The next day precicely decides that she is in love with him and leaves the only people that ever loved her to go and live to the parent that gave her away and STOLE ANOTHER BABY. By the way, doesnt she even question the fact that they steal babies and treat them like crap? I would personally hate those people even if they were the king and queen and my long lost parents. ..! It’s so awful!
Heroes I didnt particularly like anyone (maybe except Ric). There is not character development in this book and the heroes are kind of shallow and stupid. And especially the protagonist, Wendy. Fin (her protector) saves her from an attack and then tells her that her brother is not her brother and she needs to go with him to find her true mother who actually gave her away to a rich family to get their money and stole their real kid.
Natural reaction: Throw creepy Fin in a well, call the police, start screaming until somebody hears you, do a lot of swearing. Wendy reaction: decides that the boy who has been in her school for just 2 weeks and she has known for 2 days is right and decides to leave the people who made real sacrifices for her and loved her. Isnt that selfish and stupid?
Also, when she arrives to see her mother, she does whatever she is told even though she doesnt know those people and owes them nothing. Parents are called the people that bring you up and love you, not the ones that give birth to you and place you to somebody else’s hands. She owes her biological mother nothing , yet she tolerates being yelled at and taunted. No person would do that. The characters are all shallow. The whole book is shallow.
However, I’ll give it 3 (2.5) stars because I read it in one day, even though I was pretty bored then. Also, because I’m probably going to read the next book just out of curiocity.
I recommend this if you are bored and want an easy read, but if not, there are a lot better , more entertaining and meaning-full books to buy. ...more

A few montAfter all those years, when I realized this book was finally translated and published in my native language I was beyond happy and excited. A few months ago I asked a friend of mine how the book was(he had read it before its translation) and he looked at me gravely and weirdly. Back then it seemed odd, now though I understand.
This book, like all the Paolini books, is well written and a bit boring but interesting enough to make you keep reading. I had high expectations for this book, like every reader who has made it this far. I cant say it was the ending I was hoping for and it didnt feel satisfying… Truth is, though, it was the ending that should be expected by a writer like Paolini ; he doesnt care about giving us a happy conclusion nor does he want to make us happy. I think that this is both good and bad, in a way that frustrates me.
Plot In this book there are naturally many battles by Eragon’s or Roran’s POV and the book is actually satisfying and enjoyable. Until they reach Urû'baen. Or when Nasuada gets to Urû'baen.
Someone would expect this to be the best part. After all, it was something we waited for all those years, you know, the way of defeating Galbatorix, the attack in his city, Murtagh’s ending or change of heart and Galbatorix’s death. However, it felt like it was extremely rushed. Everything happens and is revealed literally in the last minute until the end of the book! (view spoiler)[ ( the hidden dragons in Vroengard and the Eldunari’s, the romance between Nasuada and Murtagh, the weapon that kills dragons(even though it appears in the beginning, there is no sign or knowledge of it in the books before) , Arya’s dragon!) (hide spoiler)]
Characters In this final book we have learned a lot about the characters and understand their way of acting and behavior and trust their opinions and decisions. The heroes in the books seem more matured and realized. They remain easy to follow as their decisions and actions are logical and they never fail you. My favourite race and the one that surprised me more is the elves. Their grief, their want for revenge, their cries and reactions in the battle - all those clashed with the fact that they are peaceful in their nation, wise and self-composed. We are reminded, once more, of their power. This moment (if you’ve read the book you must know) touched me.
What I didnt like (view spoiler)[ -Glabatorix’s deafeat. It was very rushed and their meeting with him felt like it lasted only an hour(or less). -Murtagh’s and Nasuada’s forced romance. Truth is we knew from the first book that Nasuada and Murtagh liked each other, but this was really hasty. It probably was to show the way Murtagh could change, but I think the author could do better than that. - Murtagh. He was from the beginning my favourite character and a very crucial one, but was left aside for 3 books only to have a hasty and ‘’edgy’’ ending… - Arya being a Dragonrider. I love Arya, but she’s far too perfect, powerful and obvious to be the third Dragonrider. - The ending of course. I cried so much.
I was particularly moved by the ending. It was so sad and even though I have personally experienced sadness in other books, this felt like there was an open hole in my chest that made me want to curl myself in a ball. Like I had lost a friend.
“On the beach, Roran stood alone, watching them go. Then he threw back his head and uttered a long, aching cry, and the night echoed with the sound of his loss.”
I still cant not admire the power of Paolini’s writing; Making us love his heroes so much and bringing us so much sadness in just one chapter.
I loved the romance between Arya and Eragon. Somehow, without any physical interaction, their story was by far the most romantic and tragic. More than all those stupid books where eveything the heroes do is kissing and whining. This is love. The part where they said each other’s true names… It felt like my heart was being torn apart. Again, we can see in it’s full extent Paolini’s talent. (hide spoiler)]
I would recommend the whole series. They gave me so much. Even though there’s a lot of pain in the whole series, it is definitely worth it.
