However, I'm actually watching the movie right now- television plays it- and it brought up memories. Things I dont like to remember. I'll be truthful with you, even if I'm very ashamed of what I'm about to say. When I was 11 then, I absolutely adored these series and this book. I was one the the many ''maniacs''. It was my first YA series and I loved it... I couldnt distinguish a good book. Nevertheless, after some years passed I finally saw that this is a book that is not worth existing. Why I think this book is total rubbish : the plot. What kind of plot is that? The only thing that might be a bit important is Bella's friendship with Jacob and the Volturi's in the end.A book of 550 pages about Bella being depressed and doing nothing at all... Also, I think there's no need to say that this book is a horrible model for behavior for teenagers. In the whole book Bella is ''so in love'' with that guy and acts... in a way that no person, imaginary or living should act. In life we must go on. Yes, we'll cry and mourn, but in the end we must go on. She doesn't even try! That's not love, it's obsession and indicates a person with phycological issues. How can everybody fall for her? It's not realstic. She doesnt have a personality... And that goes for Mr Jacob, too. Probably the best person in there and she treats him like rubbish. Also, another unrealistic thing that gets on my nerves... (it is a major spoiler, please click only if you're sure about it and have read the book) (view spoiler)[ Bella runs and saves Edward form killing himself *rolls eyes*. Ok, I'm fine with that, I'd probably do the same for a friend of mine. But then he says to her that the only reason he left is to protect her and the idiot suffered as well.
Now, please let's see the normal reactions to something like that:
Screaming. Slapping. Kicking. Tha'ts what she should be doing. Shouting and defending herself, saying that he had no right to decide for her and her life is hers and anyway getting back to him somehow for all the depression. All those months she was dragging her body without being there.
But no. Bella is just Bella. ''There is nothing to forgive''. Tha's a whole new level of stupidity. She has no self- respect. (hide spoiler)]
Another thing: WHERE EXACTLY are her parents? she is just 17 and depressed and her mother just sends her stupid e-mails and her father is totally ignorant!and their daughter leaves for ITALY, who knows how many miles away, and they dont know a single thing...
Even though I absolutely dislike this book, I have to admit this: Meyer's writing is very good. That's why I think that her books have so many fans. She knows how to make you like the story and you can't tell until some time passes and you start to analize this book in your head. For instance, the depression. She had a way to justify it, to show that is was not bad Bella was like that. She was in love *irony*.
I can't tell you that you will not like this book. You will probably like it because the writing is exceptional. That's why I used to love it as well. However I can't rate it any more stars now that I've got all those thoughts in my head.
I hope you understand. :) Try a different book if you are out of options... it isn't worth it. ...more
