It's basically about a girl named Sabine who lives in alternate realities, and has to live everyday twice, in both the realities. That said, WOW! what a book, I finished it in ONE sitting, it had me hooked right from the beginning.
Beneath the disguise of a seventeen year old living two complete lives, the book is surprisingly emotional, and dark.
Sabine's confusion, is well written and I felt sorry for her at times. She is caught up in the dynamics of two realities, living two lives, and yet she feels that she is nothing more than a ghost.
The emotional turmoil towards the end of the book overwhelms you, but the end is so bittersweet, you don't know whether to smile or cry.
AWESOME book, different concept, the plot could have been a little tighter, but all in all, a breath of fresh air.

The Story starts with Joe moving in next door to Hannah. Joe has two children Ben and Ruby. 2 years ago, Joe lost his wife in a car accident, and after two years of being unable to move forward, he decides to Melbourne in order to make it easier for him and his two children to cope up with their loss.
Hannah herself has been betrayed in a terrible manner, and is not ready for any kind of emotional undertaking.
Both Joe and Hannah start off on a wrong foot but as time goes by, Hannah and Joe’s daughter Ruby develop a deep bond, Joe also starts falling for Hannah, as he realizes, what a wonderful person she is,
Ben, being a Thirteen year old teenager, takes time to bond with Hannah, but in the end, he also starts accepting her in his life.
Joe and Hannah are both emotionally vulnerable people who find solace in each other, as their respect for one another turns into love.
This is a beautiful story, but I feel that Sarah Mayberry could have done MUCH better, with this plot line, I have read her books, and her ability to write emotions is good. But somewhere this book falls short of the emotional level that Sarah’s other books have attained. I did not feel the tug at my heart, and with such a beautiful storyline, I expected that a lot.
But one thing is for certain, Home For The Holidays, is a book, where the emotions of the characters are handled with utter gentleness. (less)

Sophie lives with her three siblings and has to be the mom, dad, caretaker, housekeeper, and everything that one can imagine, because their mom, who recently started using drugs, has lost the ability to care for her own children. The only solace Sophie has, is Carter, the boy next door.
Carter lives with his mother, who has a broken mind, he was also abused by his father, and has the scars to remind him of that bitter past. Authorities suggest that he put his mother under mental care facilities, but he refuses, since his mother is all he has left of his family. His day is filled with consoling and caring for his mother. The best part of the day is the time he spends with Sophie.
The book is written in such a gentle manner, you can literally, feel how fragile and at the same time how strong both these characters are. And when they finally realize that both of them are in love with each other, its a sweet moment.

At first I was quite reluctant to read it, but I am glad I did. So this book did not make me go as crazy like some other books, but that is okay. It was still very well written.
In the beginning, I had a slight problem relating myself to Jaden, but I guess that is only normal, since Jaden is involved in all the causes and her list of extracurricular activities is quite impressive, also that she was at the top of her class. And I actually liked it. Her no-nonsense attitude and the fact that she has the confidence to go ahead and take charge of the situation was actually really nice, because in so many YA novels these days, the heroine is not concerned about her appearance at all. I mean, you do not have to be shallow, but being presentable matters a lot! So I liked the fact that Jaden took care of herself in those aspects. That said, overall, Jaden's character was very well written, and you start to connect with her as you continue reading.
Parker's character was pretty shady as far as I am concerned. There is not much mentioned about him, his background, his likes etc. I really wish there was more regarding his history or his story.
Also the author does not mention any kind of description which becomes kind of annoying, because, you can't picture the characters in your head.
The interpersonal relationship between Jaden and her family is also very well written. I like the fact that Jaden has a family who cares for her, and that nothing tragic happens to any of them. I wish there was more to them too.
That's where the main problem of the book lies. It's all about Jaden, Jaden and Jaden. Not that there is anything wrong with that considering she is the MC. But I really wish the author would have given more stress on the other characters story. It would have given me some standard against which I could measure their behavior. But since I could not do that, the story felt kind of flat to me.
But I did enjoy the book and it was a good read. (less)

I liked all the main characters Alli, Sam, Tessa... each of them felt so real, and you could justify their behavior. Although at times, Sam seemed really annoying, I wanted to shake him up, but it all came together in the end and each one of them got their HEA.
Alli was strong, you could feel her sorrow and her longing for her husband's love. And when she finally accepts that it is finally time to let her husband go. Her hope that after she lets go of him, maybe he will fight for her, instead of the other way around.
Sam's always felt as though he was trapped. But when Alli suddenly tells him that he was free to go. he does not know which way to go, he resents Alli for forcing the change on him, when he was finally coming to terms with his life. Then suddenly Tessa comes back and asks him, if he is willing to take her back. Now he is trapped between the feelings he has for Tessa and Alli. With Tessa its like The Road Not Taken, while Alli is his family. He loves them both, but he has to decide which one he really loves.
Tessa was betrayed by her own sister and her boyfriend and it hurt so bad, that she never went back home. But when circumstances force her to return, she does not want to face either her sister or her ex-boyfriend, but then that's not possible. But when she does come back, she learns that she can have a second chance with Sam, and she takes it. She asks him flat out whether he would give a second chance to their relationship.
Overall a really really good read, all the characters were developed in a beautiful manner. And it made me cry so much. But I did feel good when the sisters resolve their differences in the end.(less)

Knowing in his heart the cure to all his problems but to scared and guilty to actually do something about them. His works leads him to San Diego where he meets his daughter for the first time. The books is a thorough emotional roller-coaster and each page is filled with so much emotion and heartbreak that at times it becomes a bit overwhelming, but every page is worth reading. Give it a try! (less)

I couldn't read it clearly half the time because My eyesight got all blurry because of the tears!
this book should come with a caution: *IT WILL MAKE YOU CRY*
anyway...I found the book's pace to be languid bending a bit towards slow! but then it was okay! You cannot rush where emotions are concerned!
and last but not the least(OH NO NO NO!!) was NOAH!! I want him for myself!! :P(less)
