Both are THE top reads of the year for me. Both will draw you in from page you one and leave your mind in pieces at the end and both will leave you dying for more.
This may be my most vaguest review, but mentioning one thing will ruin another. I CAN say that getting inside Leah's brain was such a fascinating thing. Ms. Fisher doesn't hold back. She gives you: honesty angst understanding more angst anger and a lot of gut wrenching pain
The writing in Dirty Red... It's superb. No one can touch Tarryn Fisher's writing. There is a quality to her words that makes every single line perfection.
Dirty Red was worth the wait. Anything written by Tarryn Fisher is. (less)

A male that she can settle down with; she's tired of always being the one catching the bouquet as receptions. When will it be her turn to be the bride? But Bouquet Toss isn't a light fluffy read it has some heartache, pain, tears.<--- And that's just where I want to see my angst at. In books! Can't get enough!!! Most importantly it has romance. If I'm reading a book, it better have romance!
Simply put. It has real life in it.
Now I need to know... When is the second book coming out??

I’ll shove it down everyone’s throat. My mind refuses to stop thinking about the book AFTER I’ve finished. Lastly, I review the book with the biggest grin ever, because I now have another chance to talk about my favorite scene, character. Just the whole thing in its entirety!
So get ready for a lot of rambling... In fact there probably needs to be a thread completely dedicated to Ms. Reinhardt’s novels!! ... and a lot of gushing. You’ll probably hate me after this!!
I’m a massive fan of Liz’s, Brenna Blixen Series. It was one of the first Indie books I read, and from there I started scouring amazon for any other books similar!! I fell in love. And now I love Inherit.
Wren’s life is wrought with problems. Average, normal problems. Taking care of her grandmother, working, school, having a major crush on Jonas Balto. (hot dude name alert!) And then she gets a package from Japan. That turns out to be a fox. Yes, a fox.(view spoiler)[Hang tight! Because Liz is onto something here!! (hide spoiler)] Everything that she thought was a problem before is NOTHING compared to what’s being dished out to her now. Enter: kissing Jonas.... a little lust.. A lot of powers that I wish I had.... some more kissing Jonas... and of course... romance that makes you grow a little calescent as the story progresses....
Wrap that all in a package, smack a bow on it. And it’s a Liz Reinhardt Novel. (view spoiler)[Only it’s paranormal style, this time around. (hide spoiler)]
What always gives Ms.Reinhardt an “edge” above other authors are her characters. I love the strength of her Female Characters particularly. Wren was no different. She’s durable, compassionate to the ones she loves, and even though this book is paranormal... I was STILL able to relate to her!
Jonas is a solid barrier for Wren to lean on. He’s not brooding. Doesn’t become hot-and-cold at the drop of the hat. Doesn’t sulk in the corner.... He’s polar opposite of the typical male characters in... well.. ANY genre. The one thing they all have in common? All of them are freakishly hunk-ish. (view spoiler)[ BAM! New word! I swear, Urban dictionary needs to PAY me with all the majestic words I come up with... (hide spoiler)]
I was around half-way through the book I thought I had my star rating figured out. Four stars. Pretty Solid, eh??? And then I was almost done, and Liz pulled out a card I wasn’t expecting. And Inherit was bounced back up to 5 effin stars. Well played Liz... well played... Now I want to stop my feet in protest. I need the second book! NOW!! Right now!!! (view spoiler)[If it wasn’t bad enough. She gives you excerpts to TWO of her upcoming novels.. Oh, she tortures us slowly! (hide spoiler)] It’s another 5 star for Ms. Reinhardt. I tremendously recommend this novel!! To anyone. Your sister... cousin, friend, cashier at Target, that random girl at Starbucks that broods over her MacBook. Whatever. Just read this.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

But I'm really only going to write out a few of my favorite things.(I think I just quoted Julie Andrews from Sound of Music. Maybe I was humming that song when I saw this book was released.) If I actually attempted to write all my reasons my hands would be disfigured; like misshapen claws....
And so, lets go to yesterday, when something magical happened to me. I live in Germany, where time stands still, so this doesn’t happen often. But the Heavens parted, and little Cherub angels came floating down.
And voilà!! Junk Miles was released.
WILLST DU MICH VERARSCHEN?!?!
I knew it was coming out soon, and by “Soon” I thought in a few months. So I stored it away in my mind as to not drive myself crazy....
Here is kudos #1 to Liz. This book wasn’t released a year after the first book, so when the second book DOES come out you have to basically skim through the first to refresh your mind. I read book 1 a few weeks ago. I had no moments of, “oh yeah! I forgot that happened!”
In Junk Miles we quickly catch up with Brenna’s life. It’s now Christmas time, and things with her and Jake (ah, sweet Jake) are perfect. Couldn’t be better.
And then she receives a ticket to go to Paris with her mom.....
Ah, Paris where everything is romance and perfection. But in Brenna’s case its where a lot of confusion and growing occurs for her.
The rest of the book deals with her choices in Paris. She is left with a lot of decisions.
Insert kudos #2. Liz doesn’t hold back. It’s something I enjoy about this writer. She doesn’t placate the reader into what we want or think should really happen. (If that was the case, then Bella Swan,IMO, would have been killed by James in Twilight, and then I could have swooped in and been like "Oh Edward, I'm not stupid and clumsy. And I promise my blood won't drive you insane." (insert lame wink) ...or... Calla would have turned all she-wolf in Nightshade and ate Shay for breakfast or something.....) Liz writes realistically, and shows that none of her characters are perfect. Again, this series is truest to life.
I had hoped to see more of Saxon in Junk Miles, and I did! We learn so much about Saxon. You understand more about his life, and it give you the “Ah-hah” moment as to why Saxon acts the way he does. I was torn with my favorite bad boy in this novel. Well, my personality was more bi-polar like. One minute I would get excited when he opened up and showed his true side to Brenna. Because, just like Double Clutch, you can see that he holds a lot in and brushes so much off by sarcasm or smoking. And then I wanted to drop kick him, when he shut her back out. But if it was any other way it would have been false and not realistic.
I thought I liked Jake in Double Clutch. Such a sweet, and loyal guy... I take it all back people! I loved him in Junk Miles. In DC he is more low key. This book shows a more dangerous, and the retribution side of him. Am I jacked up for loving the bad side of him?
When Brenna comes back from Paris, I anxiously waited for her to see Jake again, and I secretly relished in any scene him and Brenna had. I think their scenes, no matter where they are fly by for me, because they are amazing together.
Brenna meshes with both Saxon and Jake in different ways. But in the spark wise department, her and Jake are one of my top couples!!
I have no idea what it is about Brenna, that I like so much! Wait a tick.... Yes, I do! She is strong and holds her own. That is something I love so much, because it's rare to find in heroines (Especially in YA) *And, again, I’m the pickiest reader out there* I am the first to chuck a book when something goes ire, but I felt sympathy and sorrow right along with her. She makes mistakes, but I found that reading through her mistakes, they didn’t irritate me. She’s learning through them! But it doesn’t make the book a happy, running through a prairie field feeling. I think thats what gives this book the final 5th star; not everything is perfect in life. I think the things that occur to her needed to happen.
I know a lot of people are complaining that this book was different from the first OR they didn't like Brenna in this one when she couldn't decide between which boy to choose from. Ummm, thats a good thing! Why do I say that? Because it's so COMPLETELY REFRESHING How many times have we all seen some girl run around with mascara tears running down her face, giving her a striking resemblance to a raccoon as she wails about a guy that crushed her when he dumped her, used her, or was just a McDouche? How many times have you quickly ushered a friend into the restroom, and told them, "He's such a jerk! You deserve better!" ?? Even if you don't want to admit it, you've witnessed it! And so NOW, here we have a character that is making her own choices, living her life, deciding what's best and people are upset. PFT! I say keep it coming! I loved that she didn't sigh annoyingly, stare dreamily into Jake or Saxon's eyes whenever they spoke, or followed them around like a lost puppy... Instead, it was the opposite... These TWO, not one, but TWO boys wanted her attention, they actively sought HER out. I know, I know, this is hard for some people to comprehend... but..(thoughtful pause) shouldn't that be the way its supposed to be???
And to note: The ending made my heart drop just a little. I now I have conjure up all these scenarios as to what will happen to Jake and Brenna.
I wonder how hard it would be to ask Liz Reinhardt to write this series to Volume 26?? It could be titled, Brenna Blixen: College Days. I’d donate my kidney to read that Volume. Okay... lets just be honest. I’m more curious to see Jake in “older version”.

Ms. Webber tackles a subject thats rarely talked about. When it is, most of the time it’s swept under the rug like an annoying piece of dust that you're too tired to clean up...
I’ve been waiting along time to read a book like this.
There’s nothing I love more than a good romance. But second best, is an ever evolving character. More than that. Reading about a heroine’s journey.
Jacqueline is one of those characters. And don’t even presume that she’s weak. She’s self-reliant. Willing to fight for herself. She doesn’t whimper in a corner over her ex-boyfriend,Kennedy. (You go sista’!) She unfolds before your eyes. And who can complain about that?
Lucas has had so much damage in his past. Oy! My emotions are still battered by his story. He’s probably one of the most in depth male characters I’ve read in... EVER.Throughout the novel I was DYING to know what made this dude tick. I wanted to know the story of his life just as bad as Jacqueline.
It’s usually impossible for me to LOVE both Main Characters. It’s either: “I like the girl, but the male is annoying.” or “The guy is great, and the girl sputters around worse than Kristen Stewart.”
I now have such a soft spot for Lucas and Jacqueline. And not because of the romance. (Ohhh believe thats half the reason.) But because of the depth behind their story. It’s not insta-love. There’s not unncessary drama. It just flows so perfectly.
But the chemistry.... mmm! It just builds, and builds, and BUILDS. You don’t think it could possibly get better...oh... but it so does.
Easy is so much more than a romance. It has strength. Tragedy. United friendships. Discovery. It’s unique. With such a real message behind it.

I’d write down some of my most Favorite, all time novels. Book coma would hit. I’d grab my “Book coma list” and discovery the glory of reading my favorite books/series all over again. On my Book Coma Worthy List... Brenna Blixen Series would be amongst them. At the top.
I had a feeling about this book.... And that was why I stalked Liz Reinhardt’s FB author page for updates on Slow Twitch. I can now clasp my hands together, raise them above my head and do a victory cheer, because, “BAM, sucka! I was right!”
Slow Twitch is focused around summer time for Jake,Brenna, and Saxon. And a lot of things are changing for the three of them.
Brenna is away in Ireland for a few weeks. Jake goes to New York to meet his fathers side of the family and discovers a lot about himself. Saxon is sent to his Aunt’s home when he gets in big trouble back home, and ends up falling hard for the bosses daughter. When everyone is back together, things have changed. Even for the short time that they were all apart.
Slow Twitch was a lighter read, BUT at the same time it held a lot of changes for our characters. If you’ve read the other two books, I think you’ll agree with me, that this is the exactly what we’ve been waiting for!! This book could have went one way or the other. I usually only like books with just the girls‘ POV.. But out of all the POV’s: Jake, Brenna, and Saxon’s... I still can’t decide which one I liked best. I was able to find their separate voices real and not only that authentic , and completely their own.
Jake- A huge change in him in this book!! There was a lot of self-discovery for each character, and his was a slow process. In the first two books, we’ve watched him put himself down, and deal with his past regrets. But he comes to the realization that he has a lot more worth, and has a life outside of Brenna. I was glad for that!
Brenna- Still a character that I enjoy SO much! Her POV always rushed by for me. I think anyone who was peeved off at her in Junk Miles will really love her in this book. ‘Cause you see the one thing I love about this author is she makes her characters so unquestionably true. And this time around, Brenna is fighting off a little bug called jealously... Jake has always needed her, Saxon’s always wanted her. But in ST, Brenna realizes that Saxon could possibly be moving on, is starting to become happy. Jake might perhaps find other girls pretty. The jealous side of Brenna comes out, and I think it makes her even more relatable to us readers. (We’ve all experienced it.. yeah.. it’s not pretty.)
“He was like this wild animal you saw and had the overwhelming urge to tame.” I think that quote from Brenna is the perfect description of Saxon. Saxon- What’s with this guy? He’s an addictive character!! He might be my most favorite to read... (don’t get excited, I’ll change my mind in 2.4 seconds) His voice had me smirking. And his descriptions of Cadence had me GIDDY. Yes, Giddy. I was more than ready to see my most favorite fictional bad boy be roped down by a girl. Ah! His POV has the most growth to me. The biggest turn about. And come on... we’ve all been waiting to see this amorous side of him.
Cadence and Evan - Two girls that are introduced to the series, that are great characters. Cadence is a fiery, outspoken girl who captures Saxon’s attention. Evan quickly becomes close friends with Brenna, but has issues of her own. Issues that I’m dying to read more about!! That sounds horrible... but I don’t care. Liz brought me to this point. She sucks me in and has me wondering about things!!
And can I say, how I didn’t think it was possible for the Blixen Series to get any..what’s the word... steamer, hotter? The romance.... lets not even go there right now... it was amazing!!
This whole entire series is like a gift that keeps on giving... and you never want it to stop. Basically I’m saying this series should NEVER end. I mean it.. I’ll have a PTDCD moment if it does. Post traumatic Double Clutch disorder.. about 95% of the people who have read this series... suffer from PTDCD.
Liz is on the cusp of something amazing here!! There’s this whole new world of Mature YA- and her books- along with a few others, are breaking ground for this genre!!! I really can’t wait to READ what she writes next! (less)

I wait, and think about all the good things I liked or didn’t like about the book. But this time, I felt like it was my DUTY, my duty to tell all of you how great of a sequel this is to Slammed! Colleen’s writing, characters, and plot just make a review flow out of pretty much anyone. I’m almost tempted to write a Slam for her. Almost. I imagine mine would be an epic fail compared to Will’s...
Point of Retreat is told in Will’s POV. And we are quickly caught up in the lives of Layken, Will, and their families. They’ve been through so much heartache, pain, and loss. Those losses have brought them together and given them a bond that most people would never have! Will doesn’t for a second doubt his love for Layken. But a certain person in his past comes back, and when Layken finds out, she questions their relationship, and how it was even built. Why ARE they really together? Because of their situation? Can Will prove to her that he really loves her, no matter what is brought or taken out of their lives?
As always, I loved reading about Will and Layken’s relationship. I’d say the romance between them is steamier than Slammed. Colleen draws you in and retreats right when everything gets good. “No, retreat! NO!” Is what my mind thinks. But the reasons behind the “retreat” to me, make Will all the more sweeter, and sexier.
New Characters: Kiersten and Sherry- Colleen how do you do it?! Does she have a manual on how to make the greatest characters? I loved Kiersten’s boldness. She is in Kel and Caulder’s grade, and Kel’s crush. She’s like that character on a sitcom that makes the show! In Slammed, Eddie was the comedic relief, but Kiersten’s quirky approach and uniqueness for her age was awesome! Sherry is Kiersten’s mom, and it doesn’t take long so see where Kiersten gets her personality and ideas from. These two characters were a wonderful addition.
I was shocked over my emotions while reading this book. Usually, I’m like the tin man when it comes to books. Books + tears? PFT! Never happens to me. I think The Child Called It, made me tear up a little. And I was doing so good with POT, until the end. Until Caulder’s Slam.... Let the water works flow people!! Completely broke my heart!
Point of Retreat is an easy FIVE star!! Completely butterflying great!! (less)
