This is the first book in the House of Théoden series, which is a continuation of the Chained in Darkness series. 4.5 star review by The Blogger Girls.
This is the first book in the House of Théoden series, which is a continuation of the Chained in Darkness series. You could probably figure things out if you started here, but you really need to read from the beginning to get the total picture.
At this point, Noel has been officially branded into Théoden’s household. To celebrate his branding, Théoden has granted the brothers free reign for the night, which, of course, means lots of sex with each other. Noel still has thoughts of confusion over his new feelings of wanting and even desiring the sex, blood and killing of his new vampire nature, but the brothers continue to force him to face that reality head on. No question the sex is hot here. It’s dark and dirty and just a tiny bit kinky. These guys feed off of and even require it. It was nice to see some new dynamics that we haven’t yet been privy to, such as Bruce and Marco pairing up. However, while the scenes are always well written and highly erotic, I do get feelings of being ready to move on to the story.
Just about when those feelings are peaking, we move on to Théoden, who has been away for the evening, attending to a summons by his King. Things get interesting here. The King has called a meeting of the 5 Lords, all of which are sired by him. It would seem history had been somewhat repeating itself with Noel much in the same way Théoden became a part of King Ara’s brood. Anyhoo, we meet some of the other “brothers”, and after a bit of posturing and pleasantries, we finally get to the gist of the meeting. Things they are a changing, as King Ara has his sights set on taking over a new territory in Greece. New rules/tasks are put upon Théoden, the first of which is to acquire a rogue wolf/human hybrid and make him a part of Théoden’s House. All of the plans lead toward making King Ara and his reign stronger, but it will be interesting to see how smoothly things go.
I love seeing the little details about the various creatures. Théoden is half dragon, so he has very different qualities than his fellow full vampire brothers. We are shown a little more of his capabilities here, not relating to sex, which give further credence to his strength and power. I can’t wait to find out more or to see more of him in action now that things are being taken beyond the “bedroom.”
This continues to be an exciting, fast-paced and very interesting series. I’m really looking forward to becoming more immersed into this engaging world and hope Nicholas continues to expand on it more and more as the series progresses....more

This was an interesting shifter story. It’s pretty rough, with Wyatt being kidnapped by his own brother and thrown to the wolves.
In this world, which unfortunately, we don’t learn much about, the wolves rule, and during their 3 day lunar phase, they pretty much sate themselves on whatever humans are sacrificed or found in their territory. If the humans gain favor in the form of protection from a particular wolf, they are claimed and safe from other wolves and the humans they return to. Again, we don’t learn too much about what is actually going on in the human side of things.
Wyatt is a successful lawyer, but I was really unclear as to how things played out on that end. Taking it from the point where Wyatt is dropped off and recovered by the wolf pack, things get heated pretty quick. He has basically decided to give in and submit in the hopes he will survive his time with the wolves. He is also hoping to gain favor in the form of a wolf token. His time with the wolves is pretty rough. He is basically raped and treated as a sex toy, until the alpha, Cole, takes a particular liking to him.
Things are pretty hairy (ha!) as the lunar phase passes. Cole gives Wyatt some blood, amping up Wyatt’s lust and senses, they mate while Cole is in wolf form (knotting and all), and Wyatt realizes he wants to win Cole’s favor.
This isn’t a fluffy romance, so I’d say it isn’t quite for the faint at heart. But if you like things a little on the darker side, there is a lot to like. The scenes with the wolves are all very well done. The story reads very quickly and even has a twist here and there to make things a little more interesting.
The biggest issue for me is that I wish it had been longer with more detail given to the world building and a little more drawn out at the end as well. ...more

There are a few things that are unique about this story, which I really enjoyed. One thing is Patrick is a longshoreman, which is the guy up in the big crane who loads the containers on the cargo ships. I always find it interesting to see new things in books, so I enjoyed reading the details about this one.
The other is that Jay is a messed up kid who continually gets in trouble. It’s his outlet that I found interesting. He is a graffiti addict. He paints his “art” on buildings usually to cover up gang tags and other less desirable graffiti. Graffiti is still graffiti though, so he has quite a lengthy juvenile record.
Ken is the guy assigned to be Jay’s “probation officer,” though they don’t call it that. After realizing his immediate attraction to Patrick was going to be a problem, he tried to get reassigned. Circumstances prevented that from happening, so they tried to keep things professional until Ken’s time was up.
There is mystery involving some things that go down on Patrick’s job that get in the way of things, but generally, this was about Ken and Patrick trying to keep Jay from reoffending. It seemed there was more they could have done here and there, even though they tried to get him refocused on other things. I was hoping they’d find another place for him to safely do his graffiti art. Corbin’s father and owner of the gym mentioned having walls that were in need of something. Seemed like a lost opportunity to me, and there didn’t seem to be any closure where this was concerned.
I also wish we had seen a bit more of Patrick and Jay’s relationship. Jay is a teen at this point, so it may be that was why I had trouble feeling their connection/bond. They had quite a history though, with Jay’s mother and Patrick’s ex, but it took a while to get the details, which I found a little frustrating.
All in all, I did enjoy this quite a bit. It read very smoothly, had hot sexy moments, a good bit of action and suspense, and it kept my interest through to the end. I’d really like to see a follow up to this, maybe with Corbin finding the right guy. He’s quite a unique character, and it will take someone pretty special to be able to catch him....more
What a unique story this was. Unique in the way it is told, in the voices of the characters, the setting, etc. I completel Review by The Blogger Girls.
What a unique story this was. Unique in the way it is told, in the voices of the characters, the setting, etc. I completely felt as though Dresden was telling us this story, and he is a gem of a character. I absolutely fell in love with him, flaws and all, and adored his underlying quirky charm and humor - it is done in such a way that he isn't trying to be that way, he just is. I don't know how else to describe it.
Dresden has quite a few issues, all of which are related in some way to his family. His father dying, his mother trying to pick up the pieces, his brother's violent nature and subsequent actions with Dres, all play a major role in his current actions. He has failed out of high school, months prior to graduation and has little to no direction for the future. His brother, Gunner, was shipped off to boot camp as a way to deal with his issues, but that leaves the rest behind still struggling. Dres chose to tell his mother about what happened with Gunner, and it changed her whole demeanor towards Dres. My heart was breaking for him so many times. He was such a confused soul and I wanted to wrap him up in giant hugs.
But then he meets Caleb, who is such a sweet guy. He's dealing with a few issues of his own regarding his grandparents' deaths, but really, they pale in comparison to what Dres is dealing with. What happens over the course of their growing friendship/relationship is wonderful. They each fill a void the other has been feeling for quite some time. Caleb calms the violent and self-destructive desires in Dres, and Dres brings Caleb out of his self-imposed shell. I loved these guys together as they explored each other. Caleb tried very hard to provide for and be what Dres needed, especially concerning sex. Nothing was too strange an idea for him to give a try, even if he was somewhat uncomfortable with the scenarios at the time. At the same time, while there is some sex, much of it is off page or not detailed, yet you have a perfect idea of what is happening or has happened.
Caleb and Dres go through some ups and downs as Dres works through his problems, but I was rooting for them the entire time. Some things Dres just had to try and fix on his own, and Caleb gave him the time to do it, always being there for him no matter what. Dres is not ok overnight. He's not even ok at the end, but he is definitely on a better path. I do wish there had been a bit more resolution where Gunner was concerned, since that played such a big part in Dres' mental stability.
This was a heartbreaking tale, but there is sweetness and humor as well, and I devoured every word. The picture that is painted of these guys is so clear that I could just about hear them talking in my head. Every disappointment, every discovery, I was wanting to lift Dres up and tell him it would be ok. I could not read this fast enough, but I was certainly not ready to let them go. I highly recommend this engaging story....more
This is a hot little quickie and interesting start to a new series.
We meet Kyle, a young man who has just not been able to find the right kind of guy to be with. Everyone so far has been just a bit too prim and proper. But, Kyle has a new stepbrother, Nick, who is not real happy with his father’s new family, resulting in his moving away.
Kyle learns a few things about Nick though when he finds some of Nick’s things in the garage. Things that lead him to believe Nick is exactly the kind of guy he’s looking for. When a chance encounter brings these two together, we get to see it all play out.
This is a super fast read. The boys don’t take very long to get going, and it seems as though they know each other one minute, but haven’t had much contact in the next. Either way, Kyle is ready to take whatever Nick is willing to dish out. What we were shown so far was really hot, but I am worried it has the potential for disaster. Hopefully that isn’t the case, and I’m hoping we don’t have to wait too long to find out. I’m looking forward to getting a bit more into Nick and Kyle’s heads as we see more of them together. Bring on book 2!...more
Leslie “Red” is a gorgeous redheaded rentboy. He has become accustomed to the lifestyle being a higher priced rentboy ha A review by The Blogger Girls.
Leslie “Red” is a gorgeous redheaded rentboy. He has become accustomed to the lifestyle being a higher priced rentboy has afforded him, but, something is missing.
Kirk is an average looking guy, not super fit or stylish, etc. He takes his mother’s advice/dying wish for him to do something crazy with the money she left him, so he decides to buy the time of Red, whom he met recently. Kirk is really sweet, innocent and inexperienced, and can’t believe Red is with him, even if he is paying for it. But when Red actually wants to spend time with him outside the job, he is a bit stunned.
Red is realizing that he actually likes spending time with Kirk. He is a bit confused about his own feelings regarding his profession, finding it harder and harder to keep his two lives separated. Has he become Red to be the rentboy, or is Leslie who he is while working? Red/Les and Kirk have more in common than first appears, and though it takes some time, Red/Les realizes Kirk is one of the few people he has been or wants to be Les with. As the two spend more and more time together, their friendship grows, and though they never really discuss it, Kirk seems to be ok with Red’s job. He seems to realize that things are different when Red is with him than when Red is working.
So, this story was a bit about discovery and what was important beyond the superficial. I found it a quick and easy read. I am a sucker for rentboy stories, and I really enjoyed reading this short story. There are some flashbacks showing how Les became Red and got his start in the business. I’m not generally a flashback fan, but, since this is one the aspects I find interesting, it was something I ended up liking. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re a rentboy fan and are looking for a feel good afternoon read. This is my first book by Mr. Thomas, but it definitely won’t be my last. ...more

What a great start to a new series this is. Picture something along the lines of Sons of Anarchy, with a hot, alpha, sexy gay twist.
Lock is a biker who is a bounty hunter on the side. When a chase leads him into a gay BDSM club, he is terrified. He is closeted and in denial about his interest in men, but those thoughts are put aside fairly quickly once someone takes particular interest in him and he ends up getting a BJ in a back room. Unfortunately, they are interrupted by the blower’s boyfriend.
Turk is the boyfriend who caught his lover blowing Lock. He doesn’t realize who Lock is until he runs into him outside of the club. Turk is closeted as well, given he is the VP of a motorcycle gang, though he knows he’s gay and just does his best to hide it from his fellow bikers. When he realizes who Lock is, things get volatile very quickly.
Now, there is some cat and mouse activity going on with Turk suspicious of Lock where some MC business is concerned, but things play out and these guys quickly realize they have some amazing chemistry going on. Boy, do they ever. Turk considers himself a power bottom in a sense that he prefers to bottom, but also prefers to be the one in control. He works Lock like a finely tuned instrument, making Lock forget all about his hang ups. He teases and denies, edges and then blows Lock away, many times. Talk about some hot sex scenes!
Turk and Lock are quickly thrown into a tizzy with blackmail and planting drugs, kidnapping by a drug kinpin, set ups and more set ups, killings and shoot outs. Through this, their feelings grow and the heavy burden of their respective positions in rival clubs looms overhead. After finding some other gay bikers looking for a club to fit in with, a plan forms. What comes out at the end is a whole new MC rising out of the ashes with Turk and Lock at the reins – the Bent Zealots. While we didn’t get to see too much of Lock’s club, Turk’s is pretty great. He leaves in good standing with most, if not all, not wanting him to leave. The future looks very promising for a prosperous relationship with them.
There are some great side characters as well that will play a bigger part of the new club. All in all though, this was an exciting fast read that was gritty and dark at times, but sweet, sexy and loving at others. This is a first time for me reading Ms. Wolfe, but it won’t be my last, as I cannot wait for this story to continue. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the new club shapes up and to see Lock and Turk happy being themselves and enjoying each other....more

This is one of my favorite MMF series. They are each about menage relationships, but all have contained a main male/female couple who love each other but who both realize they are unable to completely fulfill the other’s needs in one way or another. They seek out a third (man) to fill those missing links.
In this story, Ryder and Lyss are happily married but both are dominants. Ryder is also bisexual. While they have been making do, Ryder is missing being with another man, while Lyss is missing dominating. They agree on finding a third partner but have yet to find the right fit. It would seem Ryder is holding out for someone special.
AJ was Ryder’s college roommate. They each secretly crushed on each other for their four years of college, only acting on their feelings on their last night as roommates. AJ ran, unable to face the idea of a relationship with Ryder, and moved on to a “normal” life with Mariana. After she became pregnant, they married, but AJ never forgot or could get Ryder out of his mind or dreams. This caused some major problems eventually leading to his divorce. His bitter ex-wife, thinking he was cheating on her (with a man no less) used it against him as a way to have his custody of their son revoked completely. At a major loss, he turns to his friend and BDSM club owner, who helps him relocate to a new city to start over.
With the help of mutual friends, AJ is reunited with Ryder. He takes some convincing to be ok with the idea of being in a triad. Not wanting to scare AJ into running again, Ryder and Lyss take things very slow with AJ. There is some lack of communication with these guys, as AJ has no idea that Ryder and Lyss are in the lifestyle, let alone dominants, just as Ryder and Lyss have no clue that AJ has any experience with it whatsoever, or that he is actually a submissive. Thanks to their friends again, their eyes are opened and their relationship is on the right track.
Things go really well for some time. The scenes with these three together are really hot and very well done. Thoroughly enjoyable. However, before they can really get settled, things take a major turn for the worse, sending AJ into an even bigger downward spiral. My heart was truly breaking for the three of them. Ryder and Lyss eventually take control of things, and while the road isn’t smooth or easy, they get back on track.
I have enjoyed each of the stories in this series, all for the same basic reasons. They each contain strong couples bringing in a third as their equal partner. The m/f scenes, while fewer than the mmf or mm scenes, are just as well done and quite steamy. The scenes with Ryder and AJ? Super hot, whether just kissing, to going all the way and everything in between. The BDSM aspects are also really well done and easily believable. Overall, I found this another very easy, fast-paced read that I didn’t want to end. I’m a huge fan, and I really hope there will be more coming from this extremely well-written mmf series. ...more
Wow! What a beautifully written story this is. I absolutely fell in love with Riley and Hunter.
Riley is such a sweet soul for someone who had so many bad things happen to him. First he’s abducted and kept for four years when he was only 6 years old. We don’t get very many details of his time in captivity, but we get enough to understand some of what he must have endured. Then he is recovered, only to have his mother turn away from him. He is then forced into foster homes, one to the next, as each either doesn’t know how to deal with him and his issues, or he is bullied. Then, he is involuntarily admitted to the mental hospital, where he loses yet another person he cared for, another patient. He attempted suicide himself, still has night terrors and episodes from his abduction and is not very open to any of their “therapy.” After 10 years at Hartfield with little change, he thus considers himself a “lifer.” Life just doesn’t ever look very promising for poor Riley. Then he gets a new roommate, Hunter.
Hunter has had quite a bit of trouble as well. He lost his mother to cancer, his boyfriend to drugs, and has become an alcoholic as a way to deal. After a bad binge, he ends up at Hartfield for treatment after his sister convinces the authorizes it was a suicide attempt.
Riley doesn’t make friends very easy. He’s been through quite a few roommates, but Hunter gets through to Riley in some way, and they just click. Their fragile friendship grows and they become closer, through secret nightly comfort hugs and magical trysts to the forbidden area of the hospital, an abandoned blocked off wing. Just when things seem to be looking up for Riley, the two are separated and only allowed minimal contact.
There is a lot of heartbreak in this story, but so much more shines through. Even though you know Hunter will get out in a matter of months and Riley likely never will, you keep hope that these two will find each other again. Riley has setbacks throughout as he tries to deal with his new feelings – caring for someone again, feeling needed by someone for the first time, the loss of yet another person in his life. But Riley and Hunter are there for each other even when they aren’t there physically. The support allows each of them to get better for themselves first so they can be better for each other.
I was riveted from beginning to end. The words just flow, and I felt like I was right there with them in Hartfield, right there on their first official imagination date and right there when they danced again in the open. I absolutely love when a book can make me feel, whether it is sad, anxious, apprehensive, etc. That, to me, is a sure sign of a good book, and this one fits that bill very nicely. Yes, this is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but it is definitely worth the ride....more

I absolutely loved these guys. They were smoking hot together, and while Marcus was a total hottie, it was Timur with his Ukranian accent that got me every time he said "Is good," much the same way it did Marcus.
There is a lot of tension in that these guys are majorly attracted and choose to act upon it, even knowing their time was limited. Timur was merely visiting for the wedding and then house sitting while the guys were honeymooning. With a few years left before he can retire from the Legion, Timur's stay was never much of a real possibility. Even knowing this, Marcus went ahead and the two basically set up house and carried on with their growing relationship. It's a little bumpy, but, in the end, priorities are realized and shifted for both guys.
It was so good to see the other guys again, but Marcus and Timur really shined in this one.
I'm a huge fan of this writing duo. It's like slipping into comfy old slippers at the end of a long day - very refreshing, and something I look forward to often. If you haven't given them a try yet, I highly recommend you do....more

This is the first NON-BDSM book I’ve read by Ms. Logan, and I quite enjoyed it. I’m a big fan of alpha ex-military turned bodyguards, and Taz fits that bill perfectly. He is strong, a bit mysterious, super smexy and totally droolworthy. He decides to change things up a bit when he takes on a more long-term position as bodyguard to Hollywood star, Storm. He goes into it thinking his biggest hurdle will be dealing with the guy as portrayed by the tabloids. He quickly learns Storm is not all the media has made him out to be, and his challenge becomes keeping things professional.
Storm is a sweet guy, and even though he isn’t the big gay playboy the public thinks he is, he does quite a bit to uphold that image, though much is to the insistence of his manager. He has the usual star issues of people not liking or wanting to be with him, as much as who he is. The one exception to this is his bff, Jules. She’s a bit of a ditz, but she’s a good friend to Storm.
Storm and Taz are attracted to each other fairly early, but, as I said, Taz tries pretty hard for some time to keep things professional. Eventually they give in, and Storm begins to rely on Taz more and more as the trust grows.
In the meantime, there are some shady characters also involved in Storm’s life, from his manager and agent to his yoga guru. It takes some digging by Taz to bring things to light, causing quite a bit of drama.
This was a fast-paced read with bits of mystery/suspense, humor and some hot and smexy moments. Even though most of it was pretty predictable, it kept me engaged through to the end. There was sexual tension and slow burn throughout. While this is an interracial story, I can honestly say I had not pictured Taz the way he is portrayed on the cover, though I’m not exactly sure why. I am definitely looking forward to more bodyguard action in this series though, especially if there are more alphas like Taz coming. ...more

Oh boy was I excited for this one. I love reading about damaged characters overcoming and finding the right person. That definitely happens here.
Kaden is really sweet. He pretty much has his life together – he is a successful dental surgeon with everything set up to accommodate his disability. He seems to have, as best as can be expected, come to grips with his situation. He is in a wheelchair, legs paralyzed after almost dying at the hands of his homophobic attackers. But, it’s only his legs that don’t work. Before the accident, he was a sub; after, nobody wanted anything to do with him. But he was determined that he could still be a good sub, even given his limitations. Luckily, he eventually meets Deacon, a dom who sees Kade’s potential right from the get go.
Deacon isn’t like the other doms. He isn’t so much into the club scene, instead looking for someone to have a relationship beyond the dom/sub aspect, although not 24/7. He is mature and even a bit formal, but these guys seem perfect for each other, almost too perfect. Deacon bends over backwards to make accommodations for Kade, anticipating his needs, finding new ways for him to submit, etc. I loved this aspect of the story and watching it all play out.
These guys move fast, but, under the circumstances, I thought it was understandable. Kade was longing for a dom yet was afraid to even step foot back inside the club where so many turned away from him. Then, Deacon comes along, a guy who is not only interested but seems too good to be true in all other ways. That said, I didn’t enjoy how quickly they jumped into the roles of “boy” and “sir,” as it just felt a bit over the top so soon in their relationship.
I had a lot of trouble trying to picture how Kade did things. Aside from not being able to see how he performed surgery while sitting in a chair, he often moved around in ways I found disbelieving for someone who had no use of their legs. His biggest issue was his self-worth and his ability to submit to someone as well, or in as satisfying a way, as other fully functional subs. I would have liked to have seen more about his dealing with his disability, how he mentally overcame what happened, as it felt as though we missed a very important part of his recovery.
One other aspect that bothered me a tiny bit was how much time was spent with Kade worrying about Deacon getting tired of accommodating him. That Deacon would dump him before long, etc. While certainly a plausible worry, it just came up too many times not to become tiresome.
However, this was a really sweet story that had many refreshing aspects to it, especially concerning the BDSM. As I said earlier, it was great to see the various ways Deacon found to make their sessions work. He did everything possible to make it physically easier for Kade to submit. They even play with Kade’s friend and fellow sub, Jake, and his dom, Sam, which I absolutely loved in this instance. It was all a part of healing for Kade, from renewing his friendship, to allowing other people (a dom specifically) to see him submit now that he is different. These scenes were very well done.
I’m a bit picky at this point when it comes to my BDSM stories, and while I didn’t have any issues with the BDSM aspects of this one, the other things didn’t wow me. But, if you’re new to the BDSM readership, I think you will most likely love this story. ...more
