The summary seemed quite interesting and a bit scary, so I gave it a try.
This book was about a son who came back to his hometown for his fathers funeral and the day of he comes across a story written by his father that is uncompleted. He feels the need to finish this story, so he decides to stay in town for a month to complete it. The story he found was based on a house with a long black hallway and in his travels he actually finds that it exists in real life. He moves in and begins where the story left off. This part of the book really interested me. The idea of finishing what someone started seemed really creepy to me and more so because that someone was just buried in the ground.
Overall, once the story really go into it I had the creeps a few time, but I was a bit disappointed with where it went. The reasoning to things seems so out of context that I felt like the author had this idea that because it was a horror book he could make up any excuse as to why the charters were in this situation and how it ended.
I would not really recommend this book to anyone, I am sure there are better horror books out there to read. ...more

However, I did not realize that this book was based on the movie. Therefore, I am sure it would have been a great book if I had not watched the movie first. I felt like I was reading a screenplay, as the book was the movie scene by scene and nothing had changed. Because I knew the story and the characters already I felt bored and I rushed through the book. But if I had not watched it first, I think I would of enjoyed the book a bit more. The main character was quirky and interesting and you just want to route for her and you hope everything works out. The relationship between the two co-hosts was fun to read as well. I would not really recommend this to book to anyone, but I would totally recommend the film. ...more

I thought it would be more about the three teenagers and how they were dealing with the fact they were all pregnant and how each father took the news. But I was wrong and instead read about how the news affected the parents and the school. I quite enjoyed reading the technical side of a pregnancy. It also touched on the business side and how it affected the family company and the school board, which I had to re-read at times to understand the situation better.
I found it really interesting to read, because if I was one of those girls I really would not have thought this whole thing through either. There are things a young girl just doesn't think about in the long run when they think about getting pregnant and it could really put things into perspective. I think this would be a good book for required high school reading, it could give anyone a better idea of all that is involved. I would also recommend it to people outside of school. ...more

I decided toI have been watching a lot of book reviews on line and this book was highly recommend, but little did I know it was a young adult novel. I decided to give it a shot anyways. I was hesitant because I do not fit into the young adult category anymore and I was worried about not enjoying it, as it may be something that was too young for me.
However, this book was great. Apart from the fact that the idea of not being able to love another person and being able to feel all the emotions that come along with it was incredible sad. it also did make for an interesting read. We follow the main character, Lena, in her last year before she has to go through with the treatment to remove the feeling of love from her. At first she is excited and accepting, but as the book continues she starts to doubt the procedure. I really enjoyed following Lena and being put into this world that is so different from the one we live in. I am new to the dystopia/utopia genre and I found it really interesting to read the different views from both worlds. I was in awe of how love was justified and how badly it was frowned upon. Love can be the best feeling of all and they are forced to remove it before they can fully experience it. It leaves everyone emotionless and if I was born into this world I would be doing anything in my power to get out.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series and can not wait to follow the characters and live in their world again. I also highly recommend this book. Just give it a try and it may open your eyes to how we live our lives and how good we actually have it or do not, I guess, depending on your views and opinions. ...more
