I was hesitant to read this one at first. I usually avoid any romance that involves medical because they often get the basic facts wrong and that irritates me. But from the first chapter, Erin’s interactions with her patients and her feelings about working at a mental institution came across as authentic and well written. Then came her interactions with Kelly. Kelly is HOT. Big, bossy, and a little chauvinistic, he’s everything Erin shouldn’t want in a man but that doesn’t stop her. After agreeing to what she assumes is a sex-only weekend, Erin begins to see a different side of Kelly. He’s definitely bossy but he’s also protective. He wants to fix things for those he cares about and Erin is at the top of his list. Watching them find the balance in Erin being the strong woman she needs to be while still being able to lean on Kelly was great.
A little dark, a lot dirty, and at times so sweet, AFTER HOURS is a recommended read for any fan of erotic romance....more

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Beyond Control, even more than Beyond Shame. More emotional and angsty, Lex and Dallas by themselves would have made this book a 5 star but the whole cast of characters really sets this book apart. This story was everything I hoped it would be. I’ve been a fan of Laurenston’s shifter series for years and Eggie has been a favorite since he was first mentioned. When I saw that this would be his and Darla’s story, my anticipation level hit code red.
It’s the summer of 1974 and Egbert Ray Smith is on leave from the military when he meets pacifist Darla Mae Lewis. Chaos immediately ensues when Eggie saves her life and rushes her off to Smithtown to keep her safe, with their families hot on their heels. Eggie is already the stone-cold killer we know from other books (once you meet his mom, you’ll understand why) and watching him soften and worry about how Darla sees him is so sweet. And seeing Darla embrace and accept Eggie is beautiful.
The various family interactions provide the hilarious moments that puts Shelly Laurenston books on my keeper shelf and has me going back for rereads. I loved every moment of it!
They’re not a Pack, they’re a hillbilly cult filled with criminals and ‘shine runners.
WED OR DEAD
Kayla is a hunter and her only mission in life is to stop supernaturals like the one that killed her parents. Her current job is to get close to wolf shifter Gage so her team can eliminate him and his pack. When Gage proposes after a whirlwind courtship, Kayla says yes. Not just because it will get the job done but because she wants a night with Gage. Gage knows his bride is keeping secrets but it doesn’t matter. The wolf has found his mate. After a passion filled night, their honeymoon is interrupted when Kayla’s team shows up and she realizes that all the things she’s been led to believe may be lies.
WED OR DEAD hit all my happy reader buttons. Steamy hot sex, secrets, violence, angst, and a HEA that made me smile. It even has a hero that not only accepts the heroine’s ass-kicking side but he counts on it to make his pack safer and stronger. This book pushed Cynthia Eden from “author I enjoy” to auto-buy status.
Kayla had her secrets. So did he. The time for the big reveal would come later. The time for fucking – yeah, that was now....more

I started reading Angel Betrayed fairly late at night and was resentful when I had to set it down at 3am to get some sleep. I couldn’t wait to get back to it! Seline had me intrigued from the beginning. She’s not your average heroine. As a half succubus/half fallen angel, she isn’t out to save the world, she’s just trying to save her own ass. When she is sent to kill Sam, the biggest and baddest Other around, she sees her chance to finally be free of the Other that commands her. It’s not often I get an anti-hero and anti-heroine in the same book and I loved it.
Both have been betrayed in the past and struggle with trust, while they slowly start to fall for each. As more is revealed about Seline, a vulnerable side starts to emerge from her tough-girl image. That side was just as fascinating to me as the succubus who will do anything to survive. And Sam’s ability to embrace and support her tough side while sheltering the vulnerable made me fall in love with him. Watching the ultimate badass lose his mind when the woman he can only describe as “mine” is in danger is both beautiful and sometimes heartbreaking.
The world building in this book is superb. It’s one I was able to step into easily and not want to leave. New Orleans and a cast of complex secondary characters sets the perfect backdrop for this over-the-top romance. If I could give Angel Betrayed more than 5 stars, I would. I was hooked from page one and sighing happily at the end. One of my top five paranormal reads of the year....more

He's big and gruff with zero social skills, intimidates everyone around him but totally melts for a down-on-her-luck waitress that bought him a piece of pie because he was alone on Thanksgiving. He's a champion UFC fighter and is used to people only wanting to be around him to cash in on his fame and has no idea how to handle Mel or his feelings for her. He is so sweet and confused but does everything he can to make her life a little better without stepping on her pride.
The plot was good, the sex was smoking, and Mel working to overcome her past was well done but this book was really all about Clay for me. I adored him and I really hope to see more of Clay in the future books of this series....more
DEADLOCK is the third book in the Southern Arcana series and I have been anticipating Alec’s story since book one. A bossy, grumpy, alpha shapeshifterDEADLOCK is the third book in the Southern Arcana series and I have been anticipating Alec’s story since book one. A bossy, grumpy, alpha shapeshifter that keeps a cage in his basement and has a tendency of kidnapping people that pose a threat to his friends? What’s not to love!
Carmen Mendoza has some pretty simple goals. Help the supernatural creatures of NOLA and to avoid all the political marriage traps her family keeps tossing in her path. Alec has a goal as well. To keep NOLA safe from the political games the shifters like to play. When Carmen is attacked by a spellcaster, it’s time for Alec to do what he does best.
To say I enjoyed this book would be an understatement. I loved it! The suspense in DEADLOCK is off the charts with many unexpected twists that kept me guessing. And the heat! Oh, the heat. Alec is a dirty, dirty boy. :D
I could fan-girl gush for a while about this one but I’ll save you all from that. I’ll just say that this is definitely a recommended read. And I’ll leave you with my favorite quote from DEADLOCK.
