Since I was used to the characters, from the first volume, I've enjoyed their adventures and was hoping for a happy ending. That's when the author decided to put some awesome twists in his story to let the reader stay hooked.
Following Ceony, you learn more about the dangers of the magical world and the magicians who are on her trail since she was able to overpower a strong dangerous one. Now, all want to discover and make use of her secrets...
In this new adventure, she learns new spells as well as a new forbidden magic that places her, once again, in a position of power and new dangers.
The reader also follows her romantic advances with Emery Thane. A brilliant but too gentleman magician to act on his attraction. That is also why their relationship is intriguing. It keeps the reader in suspense strongly as the plot with the bad magicians.
A great enjoyable story that made me have a good time. I admit that I just would have liked even more impressive magic . ;-)

"The Paper Magician", the first volume, is a fresh enchanting story with a touch of suspense and romance. Well blend and balanced, it is very enjoyable read.
After the synopsis, I thought it was a teen paranormal novel. I was wrong. It is a mixture of magical adventures, more endearing than expected, in the Victorian era with an old-fashioned charm.
This "old fashioned" side allows the story to take its time to settle in and to help the characters to get to know each others. And as a reader, watch out for the small details. They are important for the final plot as the author was careful to set the scene minutiously and brilliantly.
Ceony is an apprentice magician, with a strong personality, who finds herself having to save her teacher, the Magician Thane, while discovering the man with whom she lives in a new light. In tragic and magical circumstances, she finds herself in the man's heart to search his memories.
In this imaginative full pace read, I liked the unexpected presentation of the heroes's life. I've been hooked by the author's words and the originality of the story very gently.
Of course, there are villains, torn hearts, dead people but also animated imaginary mouse, dogs and paper servants. A beautiful creative adventure that made me want to put my hands on "The Glass Magician" with impatience.
Touching, sad, funny, this romance really made me travel. I've spent a great time with the characters too.
While following Mili and Samir's adventures,Touching, sad, funny, this romance really made me travel. I've spent a great time with the characters too.
While following Mili and Samir's adventures, the reader venture into India. We discover a culture and traditions that are facing our Western vision. Very well written, Mili life is sometimes sad but always full of hope and positive thinking. She is a strong and lovely female character always sunny, funny and also a bit naive. And that's exactly why we get attached to her.
As for Samir, you want to hate him as much as you love him. He is arrogant, stubborn and dominant. He is also vulnerable and loyal. Quite honestly, I enjoyed the characters even if they sometimes made me rolled my eyes. Jeez! :-)
Because from the start, by understanding the scenario, the reader knows the lies will bring this couple to cope with a disaster. We're just waiting to see how the author is going to take us there and if we're going to be surprised. Well yes, it has worked for me pretty easily! I even confess a little pinching in my heart at one point of the story.
I was also satisfied with the way the author pictured the romance, the drama as well as making the secondary characters interesting part of the story. You want to spend time with Samir and Mili and know more abour their world.
A very beautiful, soft, fun and fragile romance....more

A thriller whose pages we turn eagerly to know more about the hero's adventures while traveling and reliving the pages of our dark history. By following the adventures of Eytan Morg, you get hooked in the blink of an eyes after the first sentences.
Eytan is an endearing character who reminded me of a mix between Wolverine and Jason Bourne with an addition of humor and some sensibility. His association with Elena brings a touch of extra suspense, as the reader wonders constantly if she is reliable or if she will kill him in his sleep. Lol!
Action, suspense are accompanying this super duo in a well-crafted and well written story. It was a delight to read. It made even me want to discover the other volumes of Eytan's adventures.

I wanted a fun story and the idea of characters coming out of a novel to materialize in real life, it is often a reader fantasy. So why not? I thought I would have an incredible dose of unexpected but not as much as this chaos.
I admit I was a little disappointed. There are too many elements in this story and it brings a sense of mess and confusion. There is a love story, fantasy, magic spells... As for the characters, difficult to create a bond when you are asking yourself wtf... Note that I'm not saying it's bad. It's messy and the novel goes in all directions. Even the love story is strange.

A short story that was an easy read. I've finished it in an evening. There is a good potential to develop into something great and be a page turner but I've been expecting more...
The plot is promising but the author was too superficial in her story. The characters are interesting. Sad that you don't really have time to get to know them. Evans was well written, with some depth and a complicated background story. But Hayley was lacking of substance. If think she could have delivered and added much more to the plot. Their romance (or lust attack) is rushed and not very romantic.
Don't get me wrong, you spend a nice moment. But after reading other books about MMA fighters, I'm missing some adrenaline rush about fights and sensuality in the romance part.

I'm used to read fairly quickly, for once I took my time listening to the stories told between the Dalai Lama and the American psychiatrist Howard C. Cutler. Absolutely brilliant, this book is appreciated for its anecdotes about his holiness as well as for its explanations about happiness, suffering, pain, compassion that the Dalai Lama teaches to the reader.
Very modern, the dialogues are alive and made you think. You wonder, you try to open yourself to views sometimes opposing to yours.
I really enjoyed having the Eastern views of Western practices. I also enjoyed the lack of judgment and the curiosity of this holy man. I like Howard C. Cutler's questions. He brings his professional expertise and practical ideas to try to understand the concepts of the Tibetan spiritual leader and to put them into practice.
Very curious about Buddhism lately, this book enlightened me and has especially given me a form of joy, good humor and hope.
A book that will stay with me for a long time and I will open it again, happily, when I will have the need of a kick in the ass! :-) Wonderful trip!

I've been rolling my eyes at Nick sexual prowess in bed. Of course, he is exceptional! But, in one particular scene, I've almost spilled my coffee on my screen… Gross! Then I realize it was following the vampire road…Jeez! A warning would have been nice...
I've been sighing a lot too. Carly needy affective behavior is a little bit too extreme… Honestly, who will call a guy a hundred time after just one night? If I was a guy I would have run away...
And Nick is a jerk. Not his vampire side…just in his way of dealing with his feelings in this relationship…
Being a fantasy fan, I would have loved more vampire actions or explanations. At the same time, if I'm honest, it was different than the "Twilight" love story…A really good point for a vampire romance.
Finally, they were some interesting twists in the action. Like the ending. Really enjoy the last part of the story when Carly is starting to get suspicious.
The read is pleasant and I have the feeling that the author can surprise us in the sequel.

In a cookbook, I need to see, to have the urge to start cooking to taste and understand the recipes. Here, I enjoyed the large enticing photos that make you want to spend some time in the kitchen as well as the little ones guiding the reader.
I personally tested the pudding with coconut milk and tapioca. Yummy... A real treat! Ditto for the brioche and the buns with orange blossom. Often, the receipes can be either too sweet or poorly proportioned, in this cookbook clear and great instructions. I was thrilled to be able to trust the author, which you can feel the passion for cooking, and who gives you real tips . Great delicious one!

I was very surprised by this novel. I did not expect at all to be overwhelmed by emotions from the very first lines. The pain and suffering associated with the loss of a loved one, the differences phases through which we pass and the perception of others while you pass through this ordeal ... Wow! Everything was right. This echoed in me and put me ill at ease. I experienced difficulty not to cry with Kelsi ... Beautifully sad!
I also liked the paranormal touch. The author manages to keep the story plausible. One wonders if the events occur in Kelsi's head and if these visions are related to depression, grief. Perhaps Aiden's revelations arrive a bit late ... This would be my only criticism.
The ending is sweet, touching and full of hope until the final sentence that leaves you in suspense. Very well done!
