There may...more I have been so excited since I heard Erica was writing this!!! When she asked me to review it and take part in the tour, I had to say yes!!! There may have been some happy jumping up and down....
I felt connected to Katie James. She's an avid reader who would rather be sitting in bed reading her favorite author, which is where she wanted to be on her birthday. I must say... there is nothing wrong with that, as I've done it!!! Anyhoo... she's not happy about being at the local karoke bar with her bank friends celebrating. She's even more annoyed at the semi-clad outfit her friend Silvia has picked out for her.
It's when she's on the stage singing, she notices Cooper Maxwell enter the bar. He's her client, she's very attracted to him. Little does she know, he feels the same way. At the urging her co-workers, much to her complete mortification, they invite him to the table. She's already feeling the effects of one too many shots, and Vicky.. I'll get to her later... makes it known she's VERY interested in Cooper herself.
When she awakes the next morning in Coopers bedroom, she doesn't know how to act. She's embarrassed about drinking so much, and her attraction for him is making her nervous. She does something at a turning point in their friendship, which honestly, is one of the funniest things I've ever read! Also... because I could see myself doing the exact thing!
She's determined to keep her distance, since he is her client and it would be unprofessional for them to get involved romantically. If only Cooper was decided on the line of thinking....
He makes it known that he's very interested in her, and he will stop at nothing to get Katie to go out with him. When she relents to a first date... I must say... I was jealous. This guy knows how to create an atmosphere for a first date!! It was amazing and romantic, and I totally wish my HB had thought about it for our first date.
One thing about Cooper... he's very secretive about what he does. Katie has now idea, and it's worrying her. Whenever she asks, he changes the subject or distracts as best he can. She knows it's a problem, but she likes him and overlooks it at the beginning.
If only her co-workers followed that same consideration. Vicky, I thought, was evil. She was constantly making comments about Cooper and how it was odd he wouldn't come clean about what he did for a living. When some powerful people start getting shot in Georgia and New York, Vicky is the first to tell Katie who might be responsible. Katie, who has a very vivid imagination, starts thinking she might be on to something.
When her mother states she's coming for an unexpected visit, Katie goes into panic mode. Her mother has never been a typical loving mother, and is always critical of Katie. She doesn't even believe her having a boyfriend, and comes to see for herself if he really exists. I felt horrible that she had to deal with someone that negative, and it gets worse after her mother makes her assumptions about Cooper.
Katie is filled with doubts about Cooper, and makes it known to him again she would like to know what he does for a living. He again refuses to tell her, but with her mother there filling her head with doubts it causes something to happen between her and Cooper that may not be repairable.
I loved this book!! I was laughing so much while reading it! I loved Katie's personality, because she was someone who I could relate to... trust me... I have been known to become involved in a book as well. Twilight anyone??
Now... onto Cooper!! I thought he was adorable, and his love for Katie was complete. I'm also jealous of his kitchen.... first time ever that I have salivated over a kitchen!!! I understood why he couldn't tell her what was going on, but in the end, he could have trusted her with his secret. She, of anyone, would have been able to keep it!(less)

So, my apologizes for getting this up at this late hour!!! I wanted to be up and live two hours ago, but with my boys... yea, that never happened!!
I loved this book, and I loved Abby! In the first book, she was turned into a vampire against her will, and kidnapped and help captive by Bronx, who turned out to be someone who wasn't so nice. What she didn't know was that her mother was really a vampire, and a powerful sorceress who was a part of the Head Council. In this book, she's discovering what her true powers are, and how to use them. She learns she's a very powerful vampire, and there are those out to kill her.
She's conflicted at the beginning, because Tyler, her human from the first book has betrayed her more then once, but she's still giving the benefit of the doubt where her feelings are concerned. She loves him, and is desperately trying to prove his innocence. When it becomes known that he lied to her yet again, she's finally forced to let him go. It is when he shows her in one of his visions a secret so horrible to her, that she fights now to kill him on sight. Still, she loves him, but knows it is truly over.
When she moves into the castle of the Head Council, this is where she is reunited with Trace. Abby is surprised to feel an attraction towards him, and is more then a little scared when the attraction is returned. He makes it clear that he wants her, but lets her have her space when she needs it. Personally, if I had a vampire that looked like Trace... he wouldn't be waiting very long!! He's beautiful... It is when he tells Abby the truth of a certain vision that Tyler showed her that was the catalyst for her feelings regarding Tyler.
With the help of Elliot, the oldest vampire on the Council, she's able to reconnect with her mother Madelaline, who was killed by the vampire trying to kill her. She's apprehensive at first, but soon she realizes her mother is there to help her progress with her powers. Also, she aids Abby in finding out where the vampire is located who wants her dead.
Can I repeat that I loved this book?? I loved how kick ass Abby becomes with her powers, and yes... I would love to be able to shoot fireballs out of my hands! I think that would be an awesome power to have!! (less)

She's lost her grandfather, who was the only one in the family who really understood her. While she is at the funeral, she meets Quentin. He was her grandfather's lawyer, but she soon finds out he is so much more then that.
When she goes to get her inheritance, she realizes there was more to her grandfather then she ever thought possible. He was a chosen, and responsible for protecting something very dear. Quentin is his guardian, and now hers, as she's a Chosen as well. She's confused as what this means. She knows that she is different; and has the similar power as her grandfather had but doesn't know her future.
She's at odds with her mother, who hasn't been much of a mother in her life. She wants desperately to trust her, but is afraid to. Her father abandoned her when she was young, so trusting men isn't high on her list.
It is when she's at the local cafe listening to her best friend's boyfriend's band that she first meets Darius. He's beautiful, and she falls for him. Hard. She's devastated when she finds out he's not who he seems to be, and is intent on hurting her. Again she's unsure of who to trust, and finds herself alone in her devastation.
Quentin.... I would love to have a bodyguard like him!! He's beautiful, but he's scared of his growing feelings for Grace. He knows that he must keep information from her to protect her, but in the end he realizes that wasn't the best decision for him to make. He loves her, and must do everything he can to protect her. He makes the decision to tell her something that will cost him everything, but thinks the price is worth it if he can be with Grace.
I loved this book, and I loved the men in this book! Both Darius and Quentin are heartstoppingly beautiful, and both love Grace. Darius is sweet to Grace, but he has his own reasons for wanting Grace. Reasons that aren't good, and aren't what Grace thinks.
She's desperately trying to find out who she is, and it's made harder with the presence of both Darius and Quentin.
I found myself reading more and more, because I had to find out what happened with Quentin and Darius... as they are both pretty yummy. I loved Grace, and I loved that she's able to show forgiveness to people who she thought she could never trust again. (less)

I finished this book early this morning... very early... like I've only had a few hours of sleep early! I could not put this book down, because I was hooked!
This book is about Meliantha, princess of the Summer Court. Kalen, the Winter Prince, and brother of Ryder, broke her heart five years ago. Because of this heart break, she has trained hard and built a wall around her heart, so she won't feel love. To her surprise, she feels the connection with Kalen when she arrives at the Winter Palace. She's confused and angry, because of how he treated her. He is just as confused, because he doesn't know what he's done to make her reject him so quickly.
Just after arriving, her older sister Calista releaizes that Finn, Mel's lover has been taken over by the dark sorcerer. This comes as a shock to Mel, as a horrible reality comes clear to her, and she struggles to deal with that. Just after this, she finds out just how far the dark sorcerer will go to come between her and Kalen, and the prophecy. This starts her on a journey to mend what has been taken away from her and Kalen.
Kalen... he's beautiful... but he's also very much in love with Mel. In the midst of his depression, he starts seeing a woman who is not who she seems to be. In time, he sees her true colors, but it comes at a cost that almost takes his life. Once he realizes the true reason why Mel hated him so, he makes it his mission to prove her wrong. He's been in love with her, and missed her so much that now that they can be together, he doesn't want to be apart from her.
The Dark Sorcerer has different ideas though. This guy is one sick man!! The way he used Mel is disgusting, and I can not wait to see what she does to him for revenge. Kalen, who he uses in his own sadistic way, has his own reasons want to kill him. I strongly hope, because of what he did to Claista in the first book, and then Mel, that he really gets what's coming to him.
I knew when I read Forever Fae (which I was coveting since it came out), this was going to be an amazing book!! It's proof of it, since I was up past one in the morning reading it! I had to know what happened in the end, but sadly, had to wait until this morning at about five to finish the book. My eyes started closing of their own volition, which was my cue to go to bed. Thankfully, it wasn't long to finish it. I can not wait until the next book!!!
I said this on FB, and I'm stating it here.... I would like to move to the Summer Court, move into Claista's old room, and have someone with the looks of Ryder or Kalen giving me attention. (less)

Jade has no memory of who she is or where she's from. She has glimpses of certain memories, but nothing she can hold on to for very long. When she wakes up with blood on her hands, literally, she knows something is wrong with her.
She finds herself in Louisiana, and realizes there are clues there on who or what she is.
Conner is hurting, and he's hurting badly. He's suffering from the loss of his father, and because of this wants to be invisible at school. If no one notices him, they can't pick on him. He likes it that way. When he meets Jade for the first time, his world changes.
When Jade starts having strange visions of girls who have been murdered, she starts on a journey for answers about who she is. When she finally finds the answers, she's forced to make a choice between life and death; good and evil.
Throughout the book, I kept trying to guess what Jade was, because it was clear she wasn't human. First I thought she was a vampire, and once you read the book, you'll know why I thought that. It is so far from what she actually is, that I'm still shaking my head at myself. There is something dark within her, and it is fighting to come out. She just doesn't know what that something is.
I felt sorry for Conner, because I know I would have been friends with him in highschool. He's picked on and bullied by two jocks at school who he despises wholeheartedly. Jade is the light in his dark cloud that is following him.
I'm going to repeat myself here, but I loved this book so much! I love a book that keeps me guessing, and this book kept me guessing right until the end! I know it is one that I will be reading again, because I love Jade and Conner together!! There are times I just want to give Conner a hug, because I felt horrible for him at times. He proves to Jade just how much he loves her, and it almost costs him his life. (less)

I felt incredibly sorry for her at first, thinking when is she ever going to catch a break?!?! The fact that she thought suicide was her only option, is sad, as I've dealt with a suicide in my family. It's hard to think they are that desolate.
BUT.... she finds something that she's actually good at! She becomes a volunteer at the Station. She's not sure where it is or how the people that are there have gotten there, but she thrives at what she chooses to do! She becomes the voice in a person's head who is thinking about suicide themselves, and she enjoys it!
The ending was surprising to me... and I LOVE SLOAN!!!! Definately can't wait to read the next one!!!! (less)

There are a few reasons I really looked forward to reading this book. The wonderful and amazing Airicka is a fellow Canadian, like me who I consider a friend. Also, British Columbia was a favorite spot of my mom's, and it was nice to read about places I was familiar with. I've never been to BC, but being from Canada, I have heard of a few places there. I do know it rains A LOT in BC, and was always jealous when they would rarely get snow, when I was always buried in it!
I thought this story was beautiful! I loved Sophie and the fact that she found the good in everyone. The book starts out when she notices a new neighbor moving in to the house next door. This is when her world is turned upside down by the gorgeous Spencer Rowth. If you've been following me on FB, you know that he is my new book boyfriend. I'll get into him later though...
Despite what her friends tell her, she is convinced that Spencer hates her. He's very moody and brooding when he's around her, but to everyone else, he's a normal guy! She can't figure him out. Then she takes a chance and sneaks out to a party with her two best friends, Lauren and Jessie. I wish I had a friend like Lauren, as she had her friends backs not matter what. She did get a little bit pissed at Sophie at something that really was beyond her control, but all in all, she was a great friend. At the party, she unwittingly puts herself in danger and it is Spencer who comes to her aid. After that happens, things between Spencer and Sophie start to happen.
Now... on to Spencer. I'm not one for tattoos, but I would be accepting for him! He's beautiful! But, he's recovering from a broken heart and his parents divorce. Instead of being honest with Sophie from the beginning, he was doing everything in his power to push her away. He finally stops pushing when she comes over to help him get away from a few people he doesn't want to see.
Throughout the book, you know she's being stalked. You just don't know by whom. When this person starts attacking both her and Spencer when they are together, they start to realize someone is out to get her. Her parents do everything in their power to hide her, but she is still found, causing her to go completely into hiding with Spencer. He loves her completely, and makes it known that he will do anything to protect her. Much to both her parents and his mother's warnings and worries, they stay together.
I was up reading this book until almost 2am on Friday, and finished it early Saturday morning. I could not stop reading it. Also, I stopped reading it on Friday at a really pivotal point in the book, so of course, I had to start reading it again the moment I woke up! There are some mild loves scenes between Spencer and Sophie, which I didn't mind as much as I thought I would. They are seventeen, and Sophie is discovering everything for the first time. Plus, they have explosive chemistry!! You know from the first moment they meet, there is a spark between them that does not go out. Once Spencer realizes Sophie is not going to hurt him and that he can trust her, he becomes the most loving, romantic, protective boyfriend that she deserves. Made me wish I had a boyfriend like that in highschool!
It is on the night of the Valentine's Dance at school that Sophie has a night she will never forget. Because of everything that has happened with the stalker, her parents banish her to the house for the evening. Knowing how she disappointed she was about not going to the dance, Spencer creates a very special night for her. It starts out amazing for the two of them, but ends with horror.
Sophie is forced to endure a betrayal by someone who she thought of as a dear friend. She is taken totally by surprise, when this person tells her what they have been up to in their spare time. This is why I had to read it first thing this morning!! I had to know what happened!
As I said, this story was beautiful to me! Spencer, who is a jerk at the beginning, becomes one of the endearing characters I have seen in a long time. He proves to her parents that his love for Sophie is absolute and he's not going anywhere. Her mother, I thought was annoying at times, but she was a typical mother to a seventeen year old. My own was annoying to me when I was that age! Wanting more freedom to do things, and being made to feel like a little kid at times when you can't.
There were times I was laughing out loud at Sophie's confusion at Spencer's behavior, just because it was so true!! He always seems to be there when she needs him, and that makes the attraction between them grow.
I loved this book. It is definitely one I will read again! Just to read the interaction between Sophie and Spencer in the beginning so I can have a good laugh!! They are hilarious!! (less)

Meena, to me, was perfect. She's shy, because of the secret she carries, and Blake is perfect for her! At first, she is cautious of Blake, knowing that if she gets too close, she'll get hurt. He's leaving, and she doesn't want to get involved just to have to say goodbye.
Blake, on the other hand, is a little more determined to get to know her. They are forced together by her father, who is looking for new ideas for a sign for a Cruise destination contract. It is while they are doing this, the two of them get to know each other better.
I could not put this book down! I had to know what was going to happen to them, and was happy at the ending. There were some scary moments, but a very good good read until the end!!

You are literally at the end of your seat from almost the very beginning!
I love the Estilorian series, and had to read this one as soon as I knew Raine was writing it! I read the excerpts on her site, and knew it wouldn't be enough. I had to read the books from start to finish!
I loved Sophia in Defy, and I loved her interaction with Quincy. She was so wrong in what she thought his feelings were for her, and he didn't help matters in the way he acted around her...
I read this book in literally two days. Read myself into exhaustion for two days!! I had to know what happened! I was saddened with Zacharaiah, and appalled at Knorbis's actions, horrified at what happens Malukali. There was a difference of feelings I had while reading this book!
