it was OK but it just wasn't for me. i found it odd how the book is from so many different points of views, also it was written like q&a interviews and i just could not get into it. i think it would be better as a movie or something.(less)

And the most important thing... The male main Character is or says he is Possessive. But then he wants to watch the female main character with another man... is it just me or does that just not go together. I can see having the fantasy and I can see being possessive but I can not see both happening at the same time. I say this because I am Possessive. And the idea of man pleasuring himself to a picture of the woman I love makes me want to rip off his arm, never mind him actually touching her. When I say a woman is mine I mean it, No one else will have her but me!(less)

But it was quite boring, and every time it would get creepy and interesting; Alex would make a joke and ruin it. The next part isn't a spoiler its just not meant for children. You've been warned.

This has got to be the most over rated book since Frankenstein Okay so yeah it was a thousand times BETTER than Frankenstein but still it is so over-rated.
Okay so granted Annie Wilkes is crazy, creepy, terrifying, and bizarre. Frankly she is perfect as a villain, she terrifies you in a way only crazy people can; you never know what they’re going to do next.
Paul Sheldon however is not perfect as a main character for one simple reason. You never like him. I don’t mean he’s like some kind of asshole, no I mean you just never really get to know him. If you have ever watched the movie the Fugitive with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones you know what I’m talking about; within fifteen minutes you already feel for Harrison Ford’s character Richard Kimble. You already watched Richard Kimble by condemned to death row for a crime he didn’t commit, the murder of his wife. By fifteen minutes you have already watched Kimble save another man’s life by getting him off a bus before it is hit by a motherfucking train. By fifteen minutes you want to know if he catches the real killer, how he catches the real killer, what he does when he finds the man who really killed his wife, you also want him to find the real killer.
In order to create great suspense/horror story whether it be a book, a movie, or even a video game; the main character needs to be someone the people reading/watching/playing can root for. They have to want him to win, they have to want him to get back up when he has been knocked down, they have to want him to defeat the bad guy and get the girl. If they don’t like the main character they won’t care what happens to him/her. So in the end Misery gets a two star rating, because its main character, Paul Sheldon, is a Cock-a-doodie dirty birdie! In every book I read I am able to tell who the bad guy is before the big reveal. Now as you can imagine that can get kind of annoying. In this book I wasn't able to do that. You would think that would make me happy but it didn't. Because the book was terrible in the form of a mystery.
Really the main character Merit never really does anything to look in to her would-be murderer. All she does is try to deal with the transition form Human to Vampire. There is no mystery on who it is because it seems she doesn't care. And only at the very end, I'm talking the last 25 pages, does it even come up and matter to her.
Really kinda pathetic. But it made me chuckle a more than a few times so I'll give it... two stars.(less)
