This book is about a 'smarter than the average dog' pup named Enzo. He's on his death bed as the story opens and throughout the book he basically retells the story of his life while reflecting back on it. His owner, Denny, is a race car driver and he and Enzo watch racing together all the time. Enzo relates all of his dog wisdom to the wisdom on a racetrack. Ultimately, this book would have me laughing one minute, seething at two particular characters a minute later, then crying throughout the rest. It was a great book that anyone that has owned a dog should read. I haven't heard much about Stein's other books, but I will be checking them out as soon as possible.(less)

The main characters in the book are Clare and accomplished woman who owns multiple flower stores that she has built up on her own. The other character is Jenna a girl with potential to succeed, but life has dealt her a hard hand and she's stuck taking care of her low-life boyfriend and working as a nanny.
Each of these girls thinks that the other has it easier, until the end when they realize that now it can only be them together against the world fighting for the safety of Clare's twins.
I did like this book. Just like. It wasn't a book that had me running to pick it up again to finish or anything. The story was really interesting the way Clare worries she can't be a working business woman and mother at the same time. I loved the way each chapter was from a different character's point of view.
Overall I'd say this is a book you should check out from the library rather than buy.(less)

I honestly, wasn't sure how much I was going to enjoy the book. It seemed interesting enough, but I tried a few times to get past the first couple of pages and failed. Finally I sat down and really started reading it, then I found out that I couldn't put it down. From start to finish Ferriss took the time to really make sure the reader was connecting and understanding each character.
The only thing that really irked me about the story is that I felt as if Alex never really got his closure. I know it's more true to life, but I honestly like my books to end with all loose strings neatly tied.
Overall, I will be recommending this book to people. I'm really thanksful for the chance to read this book early and thought it was a great read! (less)

This is my first read by Tatiana de Rosnay, thanks to goodreads ARC giveaways for introducing her to me. I kept seeing things about her other books, but wasn't sure they were something I'd want to read. Now I will be looking to pick them up soon.
This was a heartbreaking story of a woman's devotion to her home despite the reconstruction of Paris in the 1860s. The details really draw you in. I felt as if my own home were being taken from me the same way that Rose was grieving the lose of everything that represented who she was.
I received this book as an ARC copy from goodreads. This is my first time reading this author so it was an adventure.

I have to admit, I was really excited about this book. However, for me it was only so-so. I didn't really ever connect with the main characters which is probably a lot of the reason why I was so bothered. I found Teeny really annoying. The book was a quick read, I just can't say when looking back that I'll remember it or be dying to get my hands on another book by this author.
I do have to admit I'm curious to try the recipes at the end though. I'm a sucker for recipes. I'll try to update the review if I do try any.(less)
