There was lots of action, good character development and interesting world building. Felt all sorts of emotions reading this: anxiety, humor, anger, and sorrow.
The ending was brutal. I was crying off and on for the last 20% of the book. I definitely want to read the next in the series. (less)
I give this a 3.5, but I round up so it's officially a 4.

Overall I enjoyed the book. The description was incredibly vivid and gruesome at times. The world building was unique and just well developed. A future I would hate to survive.
The character development was decent and I liked that there were multiple POVs. I liked some characters more than others, but only a couple actually stood out. I had to get use to the tense the author chose to use - it was a bit jarring at first.
For me, the story and plot began to unravel right before the "big reveal." The ending was disjointed and seemed to drag on a bit long.
While I plan on reading the next in this series it's mainly due to the world building than anything else. It's gritty and different. The plot is just interesting enough to spur me on to reading the next in the series. (less)

And luckily I got an ARC at BEA so I don't have to. ;)

Really enjoyed this, maybe a bit more than the first.
The first one dealt with lots of politics where this was more zombie virus conspiracy oriented. I do think the books could be shortened a bit, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed this. I can't wait to read the 3rd installment. (less)

Probably why I liked this one best, even with all the improbable Sci-Fi elements. I also like endings and this tied up the series nicely.Of course the first and second, more Feed than Deadline, evoked more emotion, but all three had varying degrees of suspense and horror.
This series is one of the best zombie stories I've read, mainly because while there are zombies they aren't really the story. Most zombie books are crap, so this was a nice change.
I still think all the books could have been shorter, but it was worth it. And the best part is that I did get a kind of happy ending. Sort of. I love happy endings, so I was surprised to find even a sorta kinda one in a book with zombies. (less)
