Anyway, I just think Keri should have made a better research to justify the reasons behind Nick's secret, because that "thing", it doesn't really happen like that and it killed all the fun to me. =/...more

Night Owl is an erotic novel with a lot of sweet, angst, steamy, complex and even some creep moments. I was a little bit skeptical about this one, because there are already a lot of “dominant-alpha male-billionaires” books out there but nothing really different from “the fifty shades of grey formula”. I feel like I’ve been reading the same story but with different character names for a long time and this thing just got old. So I wasn’t expecting a lot about this one. But I was surprised. This novel is a bit different, with it’s own feel you know?! Sure, the dominant-alpha male, billionaire was there, but there was more to him and the story than that.
Night Owl is about Hannah and Matt. They met online and are writing a book together. But since the beginning Matt established some rules about this partnership: no private info, not even pictures or real names exchange. They only know each other as Nigh Owl (Matt) and Little Bird (Hannah). That’s because he has a girlfriend and only wants to write a book and not meet people. He doesn’t need to know about Hannah’s life, he just needs her to keep writing this book with him. But one day, she sent him a chapter in her personal gmail account and in there was her real name and her picture. Matt was furious because he thought she was imposing all of that info on him but he was also fascinated with Hannah’s picture, he thought she was beautiful, he just couldn’t take her out of his mind. Well… that’s when they really started to know each other. After that, there were some late and hot phone calls until they finally met each other and I’m going to live it here. I don’t want to give too much away of the plot but there was a lot more going on than I’ve mentioned here but I think it’ll be better for you to discover it for yourselves.
Hannah is great character. She’s 27, lives in Seattle, works in a place that she doesn’t like and is in a failed relationship with a looser guy. She decides to make some changes in her life and lives everything behind and moves back to Colorado.
Matt is a complex character. OMG what a dirty mouth!!! That’s was fantastic! He’s sort of a reclusive, brilliant and famous writer. Primal, dominant, sexy, hot, sweet, vulnerable, but also very weird. He creped me out sometimes I’m not gonna lie. But I don’t’ know… there were times that I actually started to think that he wasn’t right in the head… lol you’ll see what I mean. He’s different, that’s all I know. He has some imperfect issues, things that happened in his life and left their scars. I think these things prevented me to fully connect with him.
The pace was fast and good; however I missed a deeper connection between the characters. Lots of sex scenes (it’s an erotica after all), but not enough “normal stuff” between them. Maybe the author could have taken more time describing those moments. I think it would’ve allowed the reader to connect with them as a couple even more. But this is just me being extremely critical; overall I enjoyed this novel. Plus, the end was good. This is a series but this book had an end at least until you read the epilogue. ...more
